I have had a hard time finding a Hibachi place that I actually like on the East Coast. We were driving from Atlanta back to Spartanburg, South Carolina. We just so happen to stop to get gas on this one exit in the middle of the route home. We came across this little gem. The best part about this place was that it was really good and it was really cool decorated. Not only that they had 50% off nights. You could go in there and get the full Hibachi dinner for 50% off. Now, I've given a lot of reviews for Hibachi places and I will say this that this is one of my favorite places other than eating at the mandolin in Tacoma, Washington. The inside of the restaurant is neat but I'm very disappointed with the way they serve us. The plates are dirty (picture shown below) and the straw that they give us is wet and the wrap on the straw is all peeled. Why do you still serve your customer things this dirty. Anyways as far as food goes, the lemon chicken is way to sour. I feel like I'm eating a lemon inside of chicken. I'm Asian and know my Asian taste. I'm just disappointed. The sushi was okay. The spring rolls are a whole disappointment as well. Spring rolls to me is not fried. What we got is 3 tiny vegetable egg rolls. I have had spring rolls before and it's nothing like that (pictures below). Our overall experience with this restaurant is disappointment after disappointment. With that being said, they DEMAND us to give them tip. We were nice enough to give them $20 tip. That's only because we were being nice. More than anything, the service is impeccable! They always give us a free app and the manager stops in to check on us and talk at every visit. Prices are reasonable with great portion sizes. Favorites are the basil fried rice with chicken and shrimp, Tom Kha soup, and spicy cumin fried fish with white rice (no longer on menu- has to be requested). Their cocktails are also very good. Brand new Asian Fusion restaurant next door to the Publix in Hamilton Mill. They have hibachi, sushi, Chinese and Thai. This restaurant has a lot of potential as the owners obviously sunk a lot of cash into the interior of this restaurant. It is very nice inside, nice enough to be a place for a special event, date night, birthday, etc. It is also very roomy inside. Because it is new, I will try it again. We did not do the hibachi so I cannot comment on that. We had a mix of items to see how "fusion" this place really is! My biggest complain is the portion size and cost. Second complaint is that nothing stood out in terms of flavor. It was not bad, but it wasn't great either. The problem with most fusion restaurants is that they don't do anything well! The flavors were all bland. The Thai didn't taste like Thai, it tasted Chinese. The sushi rolls were well made but very small compared to what I have come to expect from sushi restaurants. The chicken and broccoli was bland. I noticed that all of our dishes had a lot of "filler", things like carrots, green beans, etc that are added to bulk up the dish without increasing the cost it takes to make it. Maximizing profit is fine, but either drop your prices or add more meat! Pork Lo mein - greasy and lacked flavor Pork fried rice, greasy and didn't have flavor Spicy Basil Chicken - not enough basil, no basil taste, tasted like any other Chinese chicken dish, not fresh like Thai food Broccoli Chicken - bland Sushi - good but very small portion Lastly, if your a Chinese restaurant you need to have PORK on the menu. When we asked for pork fried rice and pork lo mean we were told they didn't have that. Upon asking again they said they did, but what came out didn't look like pork, it was more like chicken. Tonight was the first time that we actually dined in the restaurant versus ordering delivery, which is our usual go to. My husband and I took our kids for the hibachi experience. It was not very crowded at all when we showed up around 5:30 on a Sunday. We were greeted very warmly when we entered the restaurant, and my girls were immediately enraptured with the fish tank in the waiting area. We were shown to a back room where the hibachi grill tables were and were seated at a table with another family. Gotta love Asian restaurants where nobody bats an eye at your gaggle of children, in fact, they actually seem rather pleased to see them! The waitress came over and took our drink orders immediately and our regular order very quickly as well. The show definitely captured our children's attention and the chef was very obliging when another little boy at our table asked for one last fire show after he had cleaned up the cooktop. The food was perfectly good, nothing outstanding but good Japanese steakhouse fare. My husband ordered New York strip and I had teriyaki salmon. The waitress was incredibly sweet with the kids at the table and brought them all a dish of chocolate ice cream with whipped cream and sprinkles for free at the end of the meal which was a big hit as you can imagine. My one complaint is that I tried to use a 15% off coupon that I had found in a local mailer but since we were using a gift card that we purchased at 25% off she said that we could not also use the coupon on top of that. Although that exclusion is not stated on the coupon. Not a huge deal since the gift card had been a good deal to begin with. Just saying. As I said, we normally order delivery or takeout from here and it has always been a pleasant experience. My overall take away with this restaurant is that the staff is really friendly, the food is quite good and it satisfies our Asian cravings whether Chinese, Japanese, or Thai. We will continue to use Asian Garden as our standard go to for this type of food! Last few notes- they have the kiddie chopstick cheaters which help little ones (or non chopstick aficionados) use them. Their Thai curries are super delicious. Always good for takeout except sometimes they miss substitutions , spring rolls are small just fyi also the shrimp aren't deveined and sliced down the back so the vegan/ veggie options are great . Service is always quick and not too long of a wait , I've had some Uber eats issues before but they're always great with Uber eats and when I just call ahead . The actual location is beautiful inside and clean , I like the hibachi area which is set aside from the actual dining room . There's also I bar here too if you're looking for that . Have not had good experiences with this place. Ordered here 1st time I got thai pad se wei and the broccoli in it was spoiled. Literally had to spit it out of my mouth. Ordered again today and got a sushi roll with spicy mayo- it came with regular mayonnaise on it (GROSS). I spoke to delivery driver and after practically begging him (even though this was their mistake as he could even see in the order) he said he would come back. He comes back with the same roll with the mayonnaise wiped off and spicy mayo put on. They didnt even bother to clean the lid. So I could still see the regular mayonnaise. Stay away from this place! They also lie and say they dont have a delivery driver when they do. And the woman who answers the phone is outright rude! I didnt even bother to call back again. Its so disgusting that they would just wipe off my meal with their hands and then serve this to me again like I wouldnt taste it Also, if you have local flavor they do not like it if you use it. They actually hold it against you. When I had a local flavor the girl at the front desk told me "oh your the one with the coupon no more coupons"! We would not survived the past several months without this restaurant. They have been super safe regarding covid and taking all the right precautions. My mother and father came for a visit and they went out of their way to ensure that my mom was safe (she is immune-compromised). The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
