We just got home from eating here and it was delishious. We got several different sushi rolls and pot sticker appetizer. The owner Greg was the sushi chef tonight. He was very friendly as well as the two girls that were serving. The prices were comparable to the other sushi restaurants in the visalia area. Small, modern, not busy at all on a Wednesday night. First time here, the interior is nice, was really empty though it was just us and a small group just finishing up. The sushi was nothing to write home about. Typical fast food sushi restaurant quality kinda like healthy Japan but more expensive. We sat at the sushi bar but the ordering has to go thru the hostess instead of directly asking the sushi chef what you want, which Defeats the whole " sitting at the sushi bar" experience. It was slow as far as traffic. Overall experience was conformable. Server helped us at the right times and checked up on us. Food was fantastic. The golden gate and fantastic roll are delicious. We wanted to try something new other than what we normally eat and chose Asian Grill, and found our new favorite restaurant! The waiter and waitress for fast, respectful, and made us feel very welcome. Chefs Greg and Marcus were amazing in all aspects- Service, professionalism, and they didn't act stuck up either, they were just normal people. We had their Chicken Teriyaki Bowl, Potstickers, Tempura Shrimp and Veggies, and California Roll with cream cheese. The food was too die for, the tea was AMAZING. Went in not expecting anything and I was not disappointed. The prices were a little high for lunch, spent $8 on a chicken bowl and an iced-tea is $2. The service was good and the food was tasty, a little heavy on the pepper, but the portion was a little smaller for the price. The rolls looked good, but most start at $12 and go up to $20. Went here based on reviews. It was a Friday night, 8pm, packed. Had spicy tuna roll, jalapeno poppers with tuna and cream cheese. Both items were so fishy that I couldn't finish one bite. I'm going to keep this short and simple. I have been going here for a long time. I love their food. Everything is good and well made but the service...it is awful. They sit you down and take your order, give your food and the bill. That's it. They don't refill your drinks. They don't ask you how it is. They don't ask you if you need anything at all. The male waiter just sings and checks his phone. Get off your computers. Get off your phones. Stop singing and start taking care of your customers or you wont have any. It would be really sad to see this place go out of business but if you don't care about your customers and you don't have the common sense to ACT like a place of business it prolly will. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I've had Korean chili a few doors down and the food is tasty there. So I know Asian grill is the same owners and wanted to try it out. Came in at a little after 4pm and I was only one there. I ordered seafood soup for $13. Bleeh. What a disappointment. Broth was bland and flavorless. Noodles did not taste good. They actually reminded me of ramen noodles in the package. Seafood tastes like it was a day or 2 from expiring. And the octopus was super hard and tough. I've worked in restaurants 10 years and I've tasted good tender octopus and this was no where close. I would have said something to the waitress, but she never asked me how the food was(even though I was only one in there). She just asked if I was doing okay once I had finished. I'm not the type of guy to return food unless it's totally disgusting or just plain inedible. So I ate it, paid and left. I would give zero. My husband ordered the Chirashi Bowl which costs $18. When the order came it is obvious that it only had 5pc instead of 6pc as describes on the menu. When my husband asked the waitress she said sorry and take the order back. Minutes later a different waiter came and said the chief was sure he put 6pc and questioned if my husband ate it?! The other people said "NO" and I asked to cancel the order. Then 5 minutes later the waitress came back with the bowl and said the other piece was "hiding" inside of salad and the chief came out and insist us to take the order. I said it may be contaminated already but they refused to let us cancel the order. Basically they just want my husband to swallowed it! read more

Decent food, terrible service. At first our waitress was friendly enough until my wife asked to move tables once a comfy booth seat opened up (6 months pregnant) we even cleaned up the table we were leaving. but things went downhill after that anyways. we noticed there was a problem when a different waitress went to bring us our food and the girl that sat us said in a very obvious bitchy tone "no THEY moved over THERE" pointing at us. we got our food and that was the last attention we could get from either waitress there from that point on. even when I turned and said excuse me to our waitress she just walked to each table seeing if they needed anything skipping ours in the process and completely ignored us.. no refills or any checkup to see if we needed anything else (I wanted to order a sushi roll to go) I finally just walked up to the register and asked for 2 to-go boxes and the check, all we got was the check. I paid and left with no take home. I cannot recommend this place to anyone. I know we clearly did something to piss off this waitress but other than requesting the booth spot in an almost empty restaurant (only 4 tables occupied) I have no idea what. edit: spoke with Marcus the manager on duty tonight. I am changing to a 3 star review because the food WAS good and I have been convinced service like tonight's was not the norm here. will update after next visit. read more

I ordered a hotate (scallop) nigiri ($6); it tasted a little bitter and strange. Definitely not fresh! I also had the tobiko sushi ($3), which was decent). I also had the tempura udon ($9.99). The broth was good and the udon was pretty ok, but the tempura was HORRIBLE. It wasn't even tempura batter, it was the thick, doughy batter typically used in the croquettes. The batter was overly thick and overpowered any taste of the vegetables or the small, small shrimp. Overall, I would not come back here again. read more

I ordered calamari and when I bit into it, it turned out to be a whole baby octopus. The rice was so dried out not sticky at all. The shrimp tempura was small and mostly batter. We stopped in here on our way home from Yosemite. We looked at the Yelp reviews and decided to try it. It left a little to be desired. The staff, I mean, the one girl, who was serving most of the tables was a little out of sorts. She didn't know the food, nor did she bring things needed for the meal until we asked her, more than once. In turn, she made more trips than necessary, when, if she'd only asked what we needed, she could have made only one trip. And the food wasn't that good either. I live in an area that has very good Japanese food, and this place wasn't close. I guess since the name of the restaurant was Asian Grill, and not Japanese Grill, they felt no obligation to make the Japanese food better. We ate what we could because we were quite hungry, but we didn't take the leftovers (which I always do) because I didn't want to eat the food a second time. i guess, if one remembers that this place is in Tulane, and not in San Francisco or Los Angeles, you might not be too disappointed. read more
