This was a fantastic stopover on our way back from LA. After an exhausting shopping visit to Tulare Outlet Stores, we were famished and there is no real food court in the Outlet Mall. Sakura Buffet is only 1 mile away, right across the freeway at corner of Prosperity Lane and Cherry Street, next to the Vallarta Mexican Supermarket. I think it is really legit for an AYCE asian buffet in the Central Valley. The ladies who work there are friendly and the service is tip worthy. My wife noticed that most of the customers were Asians. That's very reassuring and the quality of the food was really good at the price point. For families with little kids, they have American entrees like pizza and chicken strips. We would definitely return to this place on our next stop going to or from LA. read more

3.5 stars. After shopping at the Tulare outlets, I had worked up an appetite and wanted to venture out in Tulare to try something new. I was pretty impressed. Walking in the decor is really nice and it's extremely clean and organized here. It was a little after the lunch rush so there wasn't too many people. All the food is displayed nicely and it appeared to be fresh. I usually go for the sushi and they had quite the variety and the taste and quality was decent. They have plenty of Chinese style dishes, so I sampled some appetizers like egg rolls and tried some stirfry. I also tried the crab legs and crawfish and they were not bad. I'd say for the price, Sakura will do if you're hungry and craving a Chinese style buffet. It may not knock your socks off but it will fulfill the craving. read more

Came here on a weekday evening, not busy and a few families inside. Food is pretty standard Chinese buffet with sushi options. Freshness varies but if you can tell what's been sitting out for a while. I thought the various Chinese items were pretty standard and nothing stood out significantly. Unbelievable buffet found in my hometown!! Who knew!! I've had my share of AYCE especially in the Central Valley and I have to say it's the best that I've been to and it's located in good ole Tulare!! The sushi was very fresh and it wasn't just California Rolls! They had fresh nigiri both tuna and salmon. Then there was fresh tuna and salmon sashimi. I made it a point to try most everything. The soups were good. The fresh oysters was fresh and I dared to eat it without issues. The Chinese food variety was everything your heart desires. Then there's your fried food like egg rolls, shrimp, chicken, and French fries. The place was clean and welcoming. The wait staff clear your clean plate asap. The price point was really good also. One of the best Chinese buffets I've ever had with such a good price point for many years. Food (sushi, seafood grill) are delicious, waiters are friendly and check in on us very frequently. If I could give no stars I would, I recently went and paid $81 for 2 adults 2 kids, when eating a piece of cake I noticed a sharp piece of metal sticking out. For a place to charge higher prices I'd expect better quality and better checking of their food before putting it out. My kids could have eaten this!!! When telling staff up front I was handed a $5 coupon as if that's worth me choking over. Luckily I didn't eat it but imagine had I not noticed and ate it, I'm never one to complain but this was unacceptable and handed a $5 coupon was more on an insult than an apology. read more

We were craving a buffet, so decided to drive to Tulare from Porterville and try out the new one. When you walk in, the lobby has a space/astronaut aesthetic and funky new age art pieces. The cashier had a slight attitude and seemed to be in a rush even though the place was dead and there wasn't a line to get in the door. I paid cash to avoid the 3% credit card processing fee. For a Saturday night, I thought it'd be packed, but the were only about 6 other people in the restaurant (probably cuz it's Cinco de Mayo weekend and people are at home grilling), so you can see that a lot of the food had been sitting for awhile. My first round l got: Coconut shrimp (crisp, creamy, and flavorful) Pot Roast (savory and tender) Green beans (cooked properly w/ nice flavor) Fried calamari (nice crisp texture and tender) Cheese mussels (my favorite, but these were dry) Fried rice (flavorful and not mushy) Orange chicken (I think. Decent flavor) Garlic shrimp (slightly overcooked and tough) Mushroom chicken (great flavor. I just ate shrooms) Pork rib (tender with decent flavor) Sushi rolls were cold, but were really dense and not too good. Sugar donut (stale and inedible) The American food (nuggets, pizza, fries, etc) looked bland and old. My sister-in-law said they could have a wider selection of fruit. Dessert options weren't too plentiful (jello, pudding, fruit, sugar donuts, ice cream ). I didn't get anything. The waitresses were nice and kept the drinks filled and removed the plates quickly. We recently visited Sakura Buffet -- it was me, my son, and his friend. Here's what we liked about it. The staff was very polite and always ready to help. They even brought drink refills directly to our table several times, which was really nice, especially since the boys went through their drinks quickly. The selection was decent, though overall quite similar to other buffets we've visited. The average price per person is around $27, including the buffet and a drink, which is pretty standard. It wasn't crowded at all when we were there, which made the experience more comfortable. We actually chose this buffet because of its high online ratings. Service was basic, its a buffet so you serve yourself. It's $21.95 a person for dinner and $4 if u want a drink. Its was $52 for two dinners and two drinks. You can only get u type of drink and they get it for you. They pick a place for you to sit, it's tables and booths. Food was pretty good, standard buffet food. They have a wide variety of foods. I love this place. We have eaten here more than five times and it has always been nothing short of great! It is my honest belief that the people rating this place are fake reviewers because none of the issues they have described have ever happened during ANY of my visits. The food is always good, fresh, and I've never gotten sick. It's a little pricy but then again everything is nowadays. Came on a Sunday with my lil family. There were 4 of us. Kids (7 & 8) wanted sushi, and I liked that there was a decent variety option of rolls. They even had Nigiri and sashimi. Both kids ate a good amount. I focused mostly on seafood. There were fried shrimp, fried baby crabs(shell was soft enough to eat), fried calamari, fried fish and even seafood boil. I had 3 servings going back and forth on mostly fried shrimp and fried crab. The seafood boil was okay but not that flavored. Calamari was tender but not too battered. Overall it was good food for me. I definitely ate my money's worth. Dessert was OK, kids liked it. Only thing I wished they had was Tabasco sauce. Would've made it better with my fried food. They had tapatio and Sriracha though. Service was good. Finished plates kept getting taken and kept our table open for more food. 2 servers checked on us for refills during the duration of our stay. So many wrong things with this place! 1st off Dinner is not worth $21 per person when The sushi bar is empty they barely bring anything out. The shrimp is not clean, poop strings on every shrimp, 2 of our cup of drinks had previous lipstick stains when they are supposed to be clean. Their cooking oil taste old. Their chili hot sauce taste expired, so does the kimchi. The restrooms are dirty. Water all over the floor. Caution sign is up but still a hazard. I know good food and this I'm sorry is not. Most of the dishes here are good, a few are excellent and a few are not so good. The restaurant is clean and the buffet was well maintained all in all. The sushi was good, considering it's all you can eat and that one sushi roll in a high end Japanese restaurant costs as much as what Sakura charges for the entire buffet. I personally really like the food, one of the best Chinese buffets ive had in a while! The food was hot and coming out fresh not one tray was empty. The ice cream situation can be better but overall awesome that they have cookies and cream. I think the jalapeño chicken was also very tasty and the coconut shrimp was my fav. The rice was also full of flavor as well as the chowmein. The staff was very attentive when it came to refills on drinks and very respectful! On the other hand I think 21$ plus a drink is still a little pricey. I think they should include the drink with that price. But we can blame inflation for that, at the end of the day they have employees to pay rent to pay utilities, merchandise! And still make some what of a profit. Overall!!!
