Went for Mother's Day 2026 and it had been a while since we had dined here. To our surprise there was a female chef cooking for us and she was absolutely fantastic! I don't recall her name but she was very friendly and fun! The food was a bit over priced for what it was. But it was good. The steaks were extremely thin. Like they took a regular New York steak and sliced on the equator a few times to make it 4 steaks out of the initial one. The cook even said when I requested medium rare that it would be hard for her to achieve that. The bathrooms were clean but the exhaust vents above the tables were covered in grease and grime like it had been months and months since they had been cleaned. There was a lot of smoke lingering in the dining area because the vents seemed bogged down. Other than that, it was good

Came here for lunch. It ordered the chicken teriyaki tepenyaki. It was so delicious! The sauces were amazing, chicken was moist and flavorful, and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The sprouts in the plate had so much flavor as well!!! The staff was very friendly. The restaurant was clean and had beautiful fresh orchids around. The garden and pond out front was also so beautiful and zen. Definitely would come back here

This is a great hidden jewel in Visalia! Made reservations for during the week; which was perfect. Not busy; had our own table ( felt like we were at an elegant dinner just for us ). The chef was very personable and even did some tricks and was creative while cooking the food. We enjoyed the whole experience. The food was delicious; tasty and hot. The sauces added a nice pinch of spicy ; which made it perfect. We devoured our filled plates and was stuffed for the rest of the day. I would go back in a heartbeat. Ambiance can be fancy or casual; whatever you decide. Only downside is food is pricey !

This was our first time trying Tokyo Garden it went amazingly well. Our waitress was very friendly and very helpful but our cook stole the show. While seeing others being very stoic and quiet our cook Alfredo, or Fred as he said they call him, put on a show!! He was funny, charismatic and super nice! He told us he was new to Visalia and new to Tokyo Garden so this being our first time I think we lucked out! Because now I want to go again just to have Alfredo cook for us! The steaks were perfectly medium, the veggies cooked to a perfect soft crunch! And the fried rice was delicious!

100% curbed my expectations for this experience. We ordered their samurai sushi (9 pc nigiri), two different rolls, and their uni nigiri. Our favorite part was easily the uni because they were only $17. The quality wasn't the best but the size of the uni made up for it. Sadly, quality of everything wasn't the best. A lot of the fish was kinda mushy and bland. The California roll was missing tobiko.. The samurai sushi set even came with half a stick of imitation crab.. like what the heck? Service outside of the sushi chef was bad. We were forgotten a few times. I did appreciate their koi garden setup though so +10 for that.

Haven't been here in decades and the quality of everything from the service to the food was impeccable. Nothing to complain about. I loved the ambiance before, but not with the recent remodel it definitely opened up the floor plan. We had been craving having sushi for a long time and today just happened to be that day. Try it out for yourself.

Honestly I loved the Visalia roll. Servers were nice and service was fairly quick. Place was not too loud and loved the fish right outside! I would go back to try more food.

Came here with lower expectations seeing how there's a very small Asian population in the area and minimal options for sushi. I definitely didn't expect to find premium fish cuts or omakase type experiences. However, my main gripe is how the prices did not reflect the lower quality of sushi. The sushi combo was $42, but had imitation crab as one of the pieces. The California rolls were $12 but didn't even use real crab and weren't dusted with tobiko. The only positive part of the meal was getting two large pieces of uni gunkan for $16.75. For the prices we paid here, we definitely would've gotten a much better experience even in Bay Area with its exorbitant prices.

Came with my family during lunch. Second time I have been here. Both times were great. The place was so clean it was crazy how clean everything was. The servers were all super nice and friendly. The food was really good. I would definitely keep returning. They have a beautiful Coi pond where you can feed the fish, just ask the hostess for fish food. It is a great place to eat some good food and a fun experience to feed the fish.

When you walk in, they're quick to seat you. We went around lunchtime when it's usually busy, but we were seated and got our food within about 30 minutes. I ordered a lavender mocktail, but it wasn't my favorite. The lavender flavor was a bit too strong and overpowered everything. I was expecting something more subtle. I ended up switching to a Shirley Temple, which I enjoyed much more. The staff was very accommodating and welcoming, and the overall vibe and aesthetic of the place is really cute. We usually go for the teppanyaki experience (Wasabi on Fire style where they cook in front of you), but this time we just wanted something quick and simple. We ordered a side of fried rice, and it was amazing--I would get it every time. I also tried a deep-fried roll with scallops on top. I wanted to try something new, but it wasn't really for me. The combination of the deep-fried roll and cream cheese was a bit too heavy, although the scallops were actually really good. Overall, I'd give the roll a 7/10. I probably wouldn't order it again, but I'm glad I tried it. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd definitely come back

Not bad ig for value. I do wish they gave a free teriyaki sauce on the side for any of the lunch specials instead of charging 2 bucks. Food was warm, except the salad (obviously literally). Sushi was packed!! Rice was nice. Booth materials felt like dragon scales and the rice bags on the pillars had us saying Nani. Lighting in the place felt vibrant. Now let's talk about service... Franklin, Elisha... Promote them immediately!!!! Promise me they won't leave wasabi, please. Elisha, calm, attentive, respectful. Now for Franklin...he was at our beck and call with such determination and haste. He was so cute when he was appreciative. Overall, that was on fire

Per usual, there's lots of seating around the grills that is perfect for big groups and parties. Our chef was so kind and offered to still do the fun teppanyaki tricks even though it was just us 2. I got the seafood combo and it was delightful. Comes with shrimp, calamari scallops, and salmon. My partner got the toro trio, which comes with chicken, teriyaki steak, and shrimp. Everyone who eats at teppanyaki also gets veggies and bacon fried rice. They are always so kind to leave out the bacon if that's not your jam. They'll just fry yours first! Lots of flavorful butter is used to grill everything, but just remind yourself teppanyaki is always a treat! Chef will ask if you like spicy or not and then will give you sauce accordingly. Sauce is always the best part for me! Not sure what they put in it, but I'm sure it's more butter with spices lol. One of my fav teppanyaki spots in town! Our server - we really wanted to like him but poor guy was all over the place. A 5:30pm reservation, we got drinks around 6pm, chef came out around 6:45pm and we didn't leave until 8pm. Our server mixed up tabs and actually charged the wrong amount on someone in our party ticket. It was a mess! The food was good though! Creamy, flavorful, and loaded with seafood that actually tasted fresh, not rubbery or overcooked. You can tell they take their time with it. What really made the whole experience next level was our waitress, Kammi. She had that rare mix of being super attentive without hovering. Our drinks were always refilled before we even had to ask, she timed everything perfectly, and she knew the menu inside and out. When we asked for recommendations, she didn't just list items, she actually described them in a way that made it easy to choose, and she was spot on with everything.
