Our favorite Chinese takeout spot recently closed so we were on the hunt for a new go-to spot. Asian House Edina is super convenient and had a nice list of offerings at decent prices so we gave it a shot. Their online ordering platform is nice and allows you to make special requests and customizations to each entree. I arrived when my order was quoted to be ready but there was only one guy at the counter on the phone taking an order for the first 5 minutes while I stood there and no one else came up to help. The establishment was empty -- but I think they do a lunch buffet which could be worth trying. The order was packaged well and was nice and hot and fresh when I got home. We ordered the Kung Pao Chicken, House Special Egg Foo Young, Beef Chow Mei Fun and cream cheese wontons. All was decent and I'd try this place again, maybe for delivery next time. The flavors were a little bland, but maybe upon switching up our order we could find something with a bit more flavor. For the price, I was satisfied. read more

You know; good food, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff...the usual things we all look for when spending our money. Maybe we'll try again tomorrow. Asian House pricing is reasonable but that's to be expected based on the experience. No welcome. No visit by the server (including no check). No smiles when arriving or leaving. Stay away from anything obviously pre-breaded and/or fried as you'll find it bone hard, dry and tasteless. Stick with anything resembling "fresh" vegetables (broccoli was it on the day of our visit). The Asian noodles were fine as well. Family operated restaurants are businesses I prefer to patronize but we still expect the basics. The Asian House experience might be better with take out so maybe give that a try. read more

My wife, son, and I were ravingly hungry and wanted Chinese. We ordered online and even though they deliver (for orders over $15) I went to pick it up. (Mainly because I wanted to be snoopy and see how clean it was) I was impressed. The dining room was empty (which made me feel sad for the family running this place and grateful my family was buying supper from them), but it was clean; and although the counter was cluttered with water bottles and other food supply stuff, it was organized. (I'm willing to give this small restaurant a pass and simply assume that the clutter was from the quarantine when no one needed to worry about appearances.) Food was disgusting. A simple sweet n sour shrimp, missing the chopped veggies and pineapple on top. A cup of sweet red sauce on the side. Disgusting. Bags of rice stacked on the floor in the back of the dining area is against health standards. Food, regardless if perishable or not, is to be 6 inches off the floor, may it's 8. If I were a health inspector, the violations would prompt a repeat series until adherence to local and state food safety. The only dessert options were some cookies and some other crumble dish. No ice cream. Price was $8.60 for the buffet. Be advised that this price does not include your beverage. I have lived in this Edina area almost all my life. I like to support the businesses in my neighborhood so my husband and I gave this place a try tonight. We were very impressed. Our initial welcome as we entered the restaurant was cheerful and service continued to be prompt and no fuss. The menus are a pretty red but could use a wiping down each day to remove fingerprints. I made a quick sprint to the restroom through what appeared to be a clean restaurant but the glass door to the restroom area could use some cleaning or replacement-it comes across as looking dirty-not sure it really is...otherwise the restaurant really looks good. Suggestion-I would hang your artwork on the walls slightly lower so that your customers can enjoy how nice it is and not need to look up so high on the wall- including the tv's- this might not be your custom..but just a suggestion. It might cozy up the place and add just a bit of Asian atmosphere that customers might enjoy. Food was super fresh and I could hear the staff cooking in the kitchen. Cream cheese wontons are not run of the mill- they are fantastic! My husband had the shrimp with cashew meal-Large amount of shrimp and cashews, I had the house egg foo young- no La Choy here!! This is a true hidden gem in Edina. We got the orange beef (delicious and unique) and the sesame chicken which is a classic. We also got the egg rolls which were underwhelming. Overall I would give this spot a thumbs up for creating a delish meal! read more

I received a coupon and menu in the mail when they reopened what used to be Imperial House. So I decided to give it a try. While I was there at dinner time, the majority of people seemed to be there for takeout food, but I found the dining room and service to be quite pleasant. I ordered a spicy meal, Szechuan Chicken, which was delicious. The next day, I went back for some soup to take home. I got the House Special Wonton Soup for 2. I believe they made it from scratch for me. When I got home, it was still incredibly hot . . . and delicious. A friend recommended I try the Hot and Sour Soup next time. The menu has a huge selection of dishes including six vegetarian options. The lunch menu has a tantalizing selection and a Lunch Buffet for $7.29. And no MSG! They also have FREE Wifi. read more

I arrived a few minutes after 2pm to a mostly empty restaurant (which was my goal by going at 2pm). I will go back a couple more times and try more stuff off the menu as well as the buffet. At 2pm the Buffet is cleared up. The Egg Roll was pretty good (smaller), it had kind of a State Fair fried food taste. I usually pour hot mustard out next to sweet and sour(duck, plum, etc) and swirl in the two together and dip as I eat. I ordered the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce Lunch Combo includes chicken fried rice and egg roll for $6.75, not bad. great price, like $7.25 after taxes (take-out). The chicken fried rice was edible but the rice was overcooked and not very good along with some pretty fine ground chicken which I am okay with but, overall did not really care for it. No clue when it was made or how long it sat/stored for before it was served. It's food I ate all of it. The Shrimp and Lobster Sauce had 4 large very nice/fresh/good shrimp. Did not care for the lobster sauce at all. The veggies consisted of cut pea pods, a half inch long and small cuts of carrots. Both overcooked, the peapods I was going to say almost had a crunch but, neither really did. The lobster sauce flavor was not bad overall but, oddly had a lot of egg whites mixed in (as in more than I would expect). The sauce was not very thick. Chicken broth based (I think some of the white fat that winds up at the top of a chicken stock/broth that you usually screen away was included as well. (some of it might have been egg whites) I do plan to go back. I think lobster sauce might be a tricky one to pull off, I was actually looking for a pork and hot garlic sauce combo. I am thinking if I go earlier and order some other combo it can't go wrong (hopefully). Kind of sucked, great value if it's better next time, atmosphere is not bad. I did finish it all. read more

Our second time ordering takeout from this neighborhood gem! We had the Sesame Chicken and Chef Delight. They don't use MSG in their preparations and have many gluten free dishes. Everything is so fresh and the vegetables are perfectly tender crisp. The Chef Delight is chicken, fresh jumbo shrimp and scallops with broccoli, baby corn, sugar snap peas, onions, and carrots with a delicious spicy sauce, but you can order it mild. The Sesame Chicken is better than most with a light crispy batter over large chicken chunks and fresh stir fried broccoli. We had 2 full dinners from 1 order so it's a great value. Went back recently and the place has changed. Gone are the crowds of people coming for lunch and the very reasonable luncheon platters for $6.25. Now the old luncheon platter menu is takeout only which is still a good deal but dining in (off the menu) prices are higher ($2-3 more). The buffet selections now have mostly battered meats. The lo mein had only noodles. Desserts were almond cookies and cake with frosting that looked bland. The service staff also changed. What happened??? So disappointed.
