Every time I come here, I order the coconut cream coffee with Boba. It is absolutely delicious!! today I tried the fried wontons and the pork eggrolls. Both crispy and delish!! I haven't been in there in a while, but I see they've updated their dining room and I can't wait to dine in for scrumptious cuisine as well. It's very cute and cozy.

Stopped by after a Sunday worship day. Let's start with the wait staff- ummm I know they are extremely busy but it's a hit or miss. Not sure if the bus boys are servers or a combination of the two but you can wait several minutes before your order is taken. I noticed before being seated that the baseboards are filthy!! Yuck! I have included photos something tells me that the kitchen is filthy but I'm going to keep going. Now, when the pho in which I ordered came it was really flavorful. However; I ordered chicken and shrimp and was told by two different wait staff that crab meat was an extra $5. Okay, I think I'll be able to afford it! Jeesh ! Anyway, it was good but I thought this additional charge was for real crab not imitation crab meat. I also ordered the crab Rangoon that was good. Overall : the food is good but the decor is dated and needs remodeling.

Cons: Poor Pho. Note: Will try their non soup dishes and if they are good then I would upgrade to 5 stars except the pho (especially for the area).

Updated 2025 review: still one of my favorite places in all of NW Indiana to eat! Asian Kitchen has cut down their menu this year to focus on authentic Vietnamese cuisine. My absolute favorite is the Veggie Noodle Soup (Pho Rau Cai). It is a full hearty meal and everything is always very fresh. The vegetarian Banh Mi Chay is also one of my go-to's. Really you can't go wrong here. Note that Asian Kitchen is pretty small with just 8 tables. It fills fast for lunch at noon, but the waits aren't bad and are worth it. They also offer carry out which stays consistent throughout the lunch hour.

This place is a gem in Indiana, perfect for fresh and authentic Vietnamese food. My favorites are spring rolls, grilled pork sandwich never disappoint, other food also really good too! The small space fills quickly during lunch but the wait is always worth it, service fast and friendly, whether dining in or taking food to go. It's a must stop for anyone wants to try authentic dishes, totally worth every visit!

The ambiance of the small restaurant is surreal. I stepped into a small space and the tables were filled with happy customers. The staff pointed me to the only table left. You place your order on a tablet. A big piping hot bowl of beef pho arrived some time later. Condiments are already on the table. And utensils and to go containers are close by. The staff is cooking because it's busy. I enjoyed the flavor of the broth and fresh vegetable. The beef was thick large strips. I did think the beef was dry and tasteless. I ate and ate. The pho hit the spot. I was driving from Illinois to Michigan. I had already plotted a lunch break here. If I weren't looking for this spot, I would have passed it. But in this small town inside were people of different races. The staff was helpful and were in full time mode to serve its customers. If I'm ever in this area again I am making my way to this restaurant. I had leftovers the next day. It was a treat.

I think this is the best Asian food I've ever had. It was made to order and SO delicious. I don't live in Hammond but I want to eat here every day haha. The service was great! She was one of two people serving but was attentive and personable. It's a smaller place so I'm sure it gets filled easily but we didn't have a problem finding a spot. It's definitely a hole in the wall but very very very good.

This place was completely unassuming! Man were we surprised, the food was some of the best I've ever had! I cannot tell you how delicious my husbands pho broth was and my grilled pork, which I'm not usually a fan of unless I know where the pork comes from, was simply amazing! I travel a lot for work and I have had Pho in many places, but in all seriousness I never would have thought the BEST I've ever had would be in Hammond, Indiana. The broth is to die for!! I do wish I had more beef and jalapeños but, the broth alone deserves the 5 stars. I also had the spring rolls which were also so very good. If your nearby definitely check this place out. read more

Found this because of Yelp and am so glad others took the time to write the reviews that lead me here. We tried a bahn mi sandwich, crab Rangoon, and egg rolls. The cleanliness of the restaurant immediately attracted me. The menu is formatted nicely and any questions were answered nicely by the waitress. I ordered the #27, classic pho and it tasted amazing! I really enjoy flavorful soups and the variety of spices and seasonings make this soup one of my favorites. Overall, this was an excellent experience and you can bet I'll be adding this restaurant in with my favorites! read more

This place is amazing, and the staff/family are very welcoming! Love the pho, banh mi, spring rolls and taro bubble tea. So glad something like this opened up in our area. Thank you! Looking forward to my next visit. I lived in Denver for seven years and fell in love with all the Vietnamese food options our there. Asian Kitchen defiantly ranks with my favorite spots out there! A large group of us were here from Way our of town. I'm so glad we found this gem on yelp. It is very affordable, delicious and the servings are huge. First time visiting this Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant. Vietnamese is their specialty. Service was excellent, our server was very informative and helpful. Husband had the triple chicken plate and I had the chicken Pho, both were delicious and portions are VERY generous. We split the pork bahn mi, it was amazing! This is not the place to go! I ordered sweet and sour shrimp $10 I got probably 6 shrimp batter was not good and my food was cold. So cool you could feed to a baby and I had to wait for it. It felt heavy but mostly uncooked vegetables onions green pepper and tomatoes. I might use the pan of uncooked vegetables possibly to cook for a meal. read more

Tried this place for the first time after being disappointed with other spots in Munster. The food was amazing and I eat at high end places for work. I would highly recommend their food. We had beef, chicken, egg rolls, and crab Rangoon. It was all very fresh and light tasting without the heavy msg that most places resort to using to cover up bad dishes. read more

WOW. I've been looking for a good Vietnamese place in the region and this is it. It's family owned and the food is phenomenal. The staff was welcoming and explained each dish and how to eat it. The prices are cheap for how much food you get. I took my family for dinner and we all left with plenty of leftovers. There is also a lot of gluten and dairy free options. It serves standard American Chinese food--as basic as it gets--and while the Chinese dishes are okay (not great, but not terrible), I would strongly recommend avoiding the Thai options. We tried them and they were really not good. If you're looking for a quick, no-frills Chinese meal to take home, it's a decent enough spot, but definitely skip the Thai menu entirely.

Schoop's is a local Mom & Pop close to our hotel and The Hammond Sports Complex, that had pretty decent yelp reviews, how about we sample the dinner yummies here??? Yelp directions are on point. Designated parking is available in the lot next to the restaurant which is definitely convenient for the customer! Thank you! Didn't have to wait long to sit down. Interestingly, there are quite a few booths with "decorations" on it, very cool for sure (Who doesn't like the Three Stooges and Lucy & Desi!?!), however they limit access to sitting in those areas, which is unfortunate because the booths have the best lighting compared to center of the room tables. Luckily she offered me a bite! Solid burger!!! TATER TOTS: PERFECT! Crisp on the outside, yet soft inside. Tastefully flavored. No greasy aftertaste. DEELISH! We doin' the big order next time! They are just across the street from Purdue Northwest on 169th St in Hammond. I work in one of the PNW buildings around the corner. This is going to be dangerous! 219 Grounds is a nice little coffee shop with a great location on the corner. Plenty of seating for working and meeting. Even some outdoor seating for the warmer weather. Most importantly the coffee is good! I ordered a vanilla latte with oat milk and thoroughly enjoyed it. They also offer several other treats and pastries including cookies, ice cream and ice cream bars. I will definitely be making many more trips here.

I went there today with my boyfriend and daughter because we love PHO! We weren't sure what to expect but were excited to try them out as we like to give new places a chance. I am so glad we did! The pho was very good! The place was clean and I loves the fact that I could see the kitchen and it looked clean and organized. Our waiter was very nice and gave us great service. My 4 yr old loved it and that's more than enough for me to go back. If you are looking for good food or want to try something new, stop in! I promise they will not disappoint.
