I recently brought my girlfriend here on a dinner date, and I have to say that I certainly left pleased with this choice! I had made a reservation beforehand, but there weren't many people at 6:30p anyhow. I remember walking in and being glad with the environment. It was a comfy place, more on the dark side which I'm fine about, and the noise level was fairly quiet even when the place filled up later on (lovely conversation time). The food was great. I ordered the Pad Thai, and I don't think I've had that much flavor from that dish in a while! My date ordered the Pad See Lew, which was equally as tasty. Tried the mango dessert with sweet rice, which was a good call from the waitress since mangos certainly were in season at the time. Overall, this place was fantastic! The service was frequent yet not invasive, the place was exactly what I wanted, and I was happy with the price I paid too. Plus the fact that my date is gluten sensitive wasn't a problem at all here; most of the menu is both marked and able to be adjusted! I definitely recommend this place, and would surely stop by again the next time I'm in town. read more

Was over charged and when asked for a refund of my money the lady said her manager had to do the refund. He sat outside with his buddies and took his sweet time to do it all while I was waiting inside. He only started refunding me when I looked over to see if he was even doing anything. Mint has fantastic Asian food and is a popular spot for the lunchtime business crowd. I usually have the shrimp and chicken spring rolls appetizer as my entree--the peanut sauce is amazing! I had lunch here today. It was in a strip mall section off of Oak Lawn in Dallas. It's a nice, intimate cozy place. I wanted to try it out bc I heard good things from this place. I had the pad Thai and the steamed dumplings. I thought they were both very good but maybe not as authentic as it should have. I thought the dumplings were good but they were cold by the time it reached our table. My coworker got the crabmeat fried rice which was so good, but a tad too salty. The green tea cake wasn't that great and it didn't even taste like green tea. I would recommend this place to eat. read more

This was the first place I had sushi, but now that I've had quite a bit more, I feel pretty comfortable reviewing it. This place has a very snazzy feel, and has been a pleasure to come to the last few times we have been there. The 10 nigiri sushis for $10 on tuesday(I think) is a great deal for those who like sushi, and it was good for that price. The food is not the most amazing, but I've been back here a few times for the chic ambiance & good service. The yellow curry is okay: it's rich in coconut oil but not in flavor. The tiny scoop of rice on the side is pitiful for a carbo-holic like me. The noodle & fried rice dishes come in much more generous portions. I ordered the green tea ice cream cake with great expectations. The presentation is lovely, but the layers of cake sandwiching the ice cream is hard and frozen ... I guess they just took it out of the freezer instead of assembling it on-the-spot. The green tea ice cream with sticky rice is tasty, but the rice is green too ... to echo the "mint" theme perhaps? I dunno, but I'm not a fan of artificial colors. Everything is priced similarly to other Thai restaurants, which is a pleasant surprise considering the upscale neighborhood location. I was pleasantly surprised by The Mint! Even though it was crowded and we had a party of 10, our food got out quickly and before I started to die of hunger (unlike at the Asian Mint on Forest). The ambiance is nice-- very trendy but with clean lines. The Crab Lover's Special is phenomenal. I managed to eat almost all of it and was borderline nauseous as a result, but it was worth it. It's definitely pricey, but you can tell it's real crab and not imitation, so I'll shell out. My friends liked the spring rolls a lot, too. I was, however, turned off by how packed in all of the seating was. I'm a Texan and I like open spaces, thanks, so the overpopulated feel makes me uneasy. Also, though the waitress kept our water filled most of the time, we had trouble getting her attention when we needed her (a consequence of the crowding, no doubt). The food here is delicious and full of flavor. For me, it's beat out a lot of other average thai places that are Dallas staples (like Royal Thai). I really enjoy the ambiance of this place as well. I see that several people recommended the green tea ice cream cake, but I do not understand why. It was good in concept, but execution needs some work. The cake and ice cream are good separately, but not together. The ice cream cake has been assembled, so when you order it, they cut a frozen slice and serve it to you. This is problematic because the frozen cake is just disgusting and dry but the ice cream is at just the right consistency for easy eating. If you wait for the cake to defrost a little, the ice cream will melt too much and gets runny. Maybe assemble room-temperature or slightly chilled cake with ice cream on top? I like the atmosphere but don't like the wait or more truthfully the waiting area. The food is good but the service is lacking. When we were there, they brought out 3 of the 4 entrees together and didn't bring the fourth out for at least 5 minutes but probably not quite 10 minutes later. I also judge Thai places on their summer rolls (some people call them spring rolls or lettuce rolls) and their peanut sauce. The ones at The Mint are decent but not special. After hearing good things, I decided to try out The Mint for lunch so I went on a Thursday afternoon around 2 pm after the lunch rush. I ordered the Pad Thai w/ scallops. The plate came beautifully presented with chicken, shrimp, tofu, and scallops. However, I did notice that the Pad Thai seemed to have an overabundance of sauce. As I ate, I noticed the following disappointments: the scallops had quite a bit of sand still left in them; the chicken was dry and overcooked; the noodles were rubbery; and, the dish was indeed overdressed. While I'm not an expert in Thai food by any means, I do travel for work all across the country, and I've sampled Thai food in many different areas. In my overall comparison, while the presentation was excellent, the food was subpar. I can overlook a bit of sand in my scallops and dry chicken every now and then, but not at those prices. And, if I wanted Asian food smothered in a sweet sauce, I'd go to Panda Express. I will go back here again for a second visit to finalize my opinion, but I think I'll stay away from the Pad Thai. read more

The interior is very modern, but small. I advise you call in advance for a larger party. We had of 8, but since we had reservations, our table was ready when we arrived. The food is tasty and the Thai tea is strong. The service was slow at first, but once we got our drink orders started it seemed to improve as she gave us more attention. It is on the pricier side for Thai, but you're paying for ambiance. It is a great little restaurant. Try the green tea cake for dessert! It is amazing! Heads up parking here can be limited. Yummy!! I finally found some awesome curry in Dallas. I used to love East Wind, but moved away for a couple of years, and came back to not so great reviews of East Wind. Soooo, I didn't really know about The Mint until I used my fantastic Happy Hour app on my iphone. Theirs looked good so I bribed the hubby (who is not really into trying new things - especially anything with the word "fusion" in its description) with promises of hot sake and cold beer. We got there just past 5:00, which is when they opened, and were the only people in there. No problem - bar all to ourselves. We were greeted quickly and everyone was super sweet. We bellied up to the bar and started the drinking. Turns out, the appetizers were all $2 off, so we tried a couple. The Spicy Tuna Crisp description sounded interesting, so we asked our awesome waitress (thank you Christina!) about them. We were both a little scared when she said it was like a sushi nacho, but she said it's her fav on the menu, so we went for it. I'm so glad we did! The tuna was super fresh, the spicy sauce was spicy goodness, and the wonton crisps added an awesome crunch. We liked it a lot more with soy sauce added, btw. Then we went for the fried dumplings. They were outstanding!! The name pretty much sums them up, so I'll leave it at that. Happy hour was winding up (I think it goes until only 6:30 or so), so we decided to take home the yellow curry with chicken. Holy crap it was good!!! The curry was so flavorful and the sweet potatoes were just firm enough. The chicken was tender and there was plenty of awesome curry sauce to drown the rice. We will, without a doubt, be back to The Mint. Even if it's just a to go order, it's definitely worth checking out. read more

I had lunch with a few co-workers today. The space was clean and lively which was not suited to our group but would be perfect for a couple or small group of friends. Our waitress was attentive but did not seem to have enough time to linger at any table too long. My food was fresh and delicious. The food here is exceptional! I worked in a Thai restaurant for years and I have to say this place is really good. Price is moderate but worth it. The atmosphere is very hip. It's a smaller space (compared to the other location), and gets rather loud during peak hours. So I always try to go a little early or late because my partner doesn't like loud places. I had the crispy pad Thai which tasted amazing but first, even though my friend and I both asked for tofu only, and the waitress confirmed that, our meals still came out with chicken in them. Then, at the end of the meal, the waitress switched the checks so I got charged what my friend was supposed to have been charged and ended up paying $5 more than I should have. A friend introduced me to Mint a few weeks ago - up at the Royal Lane location. Considering I live and work in the downtown area, I had to try the one on Oak Lawn. In the last 3 weeks I have been there 4 times. The food is outstanding and the environment is pretty cool too. I highly recommend the red Curry (you can get it with the protein of your choice). Also, if you like dessert, they have an amazing green tea ice cream cake. If you choose to go to the Oak Lawn location for lunch, make sure you get there between 11:30 and 11:50 otherwise the likelihood of getting a table is small. read more

Surprisingly tasty and delicious food. You never know with Asian fusion restaurants these days. They've been springing up everywhere and most of the time they are disappointing. Like what many other reviewers have said, The Mint is located in an unglamorous shopping mall right next to an even more monotonous highway. However, the interior is clean, minimalistic but in a welcoming way and the snazzy furniture and splashes of lime green brighten up the establishment. I've had quite a few dishes and am always surprised by how well seasoned everything is. Because that's the thing with Asian fusion, it's often seasoned horribly or not cooked well at all. The prices are moderate and from my experience, the staff have been nice, respectful, and efficient. The waitresses check on you enough and don't try to be your best friend which I like. I'm here to eat and be in good company of my guests, not the staff. Only complaint is the waiting area because there really isn't one except for a small booth that can only seat a few people. I've had to wait outside a few times, once for even 15 minutes, which really is not fun in the TX heat. Everything in the kitchen is great but I must admit, the sushi is really not. It's unmemorable. If you want sushi, go to a legit sushi bar and if you want cheap sushi, their Monday night happy hour is very generous, decent quality, and the place usually isn't as crowded. And I saw someone complain about the pad thai, I've had the pad thai there and I really like it. Then again, I am Korean and not Thai so maybe I don't know what authentic pad thai is but The Mint's version is pretty satisfying. All in all, good food and good times spent at The Mint. read more
