This pho is great! Great taste without really needing to add anything more. I had the 16, rare steak, I tore through it pretty quick. It was that good. I also ordered lemon grass beef to go for later in the day. The beef was tender and delicious. Warmed up nicely ! Poor customer service. Food was okay, we ordered the chicken pho and shrimp chow mein. We did not receive lime, string beans, jalapeños, or cilantro with the pho, what's a pho without those ingredients! Not sure if it's typically served without it at this particular restaurant, or it could just be a part of the poor customer service that you will receive here. I've been a loyal customer to Asian Pho for the better part of two years, when I think about eating Pho, my mind jumps to this place. I am a big fan of their food. I have indulged in many bowls of Wonton Soup with Rice noodles....my fave. My hubby who is a big fan of this place as well, likes to order extra wontons for is Wor Wonton Soup, no big deal right. We pay extra for it. So the last time we ordered from here, I asked for extra wontons for the soup. When I got home I noticed that they FORGOT the noodles for the soup....way bummed out. The noodles make the soup. It was devoured anyway without the noodles, still good, but not as good. After a long work week, we decided to treat ourselves with some Asian Pho. I call the order in and express that I would like to order extra wontons and that they forgot to put the noodles in last time. Well much to my surprise if you order extra wontons they don't add any noodles because we ordered extra meat. WHAT WHAT...IM PAYING FOR THIS EXTRA MEAT, SO WHY CANT YOU ADD THE NOODLES. This just boggles my noodle. WHY? OH that's right, for an extra price I can add noodles.... so I pay for extra wontons and now noodles that originally come with the dish. In the off-chance that you had any doubts, this here pho is ASIAN. Thank goodness the name clears that up! Mystery solved! I have admittedly not had a single bowl of pho in Reno: a feat fueled by equal parts curiosity and boredom. Curiosity to branch out and actually explore past my once sole painstaking decision between flank pho vs brisket pho... and boredom with that stable but typical option. I'm at a stage of my life where I'm all pho'd out. Luckily Viet menus have so much more to offer, which isn't always readily apparent given the 5:1 ratio of pho-centric names. Wake up and smell the lemongrass, my friends, and try something new! Star of the menu: the Banh Xeo (think savory fried crepes) is delicious but strangely only offered on weekends. Everything else is pretty standard as far as quality goes. Beef with lemongrass over vermicelli was tasty but still left me wanting. The imperial rolls were better than the spring rolls here. The charbroiled pork was passable. Sizable portions and fair quality all around. Weirdly stingy with the chili oil. I only needed a condiment cup on the side to-go, and I only got it after I was told plainly and clearly that I'd only get one. Not a huge deal but just a turn-off given the friendlier vibes at other places in and around the area. If you're itching for takeout and need abundant extras on the side, consider taking a note from Beyonce and bring some hot sauce in your bag [swag]. The food was ok. You can find better food in may places. But the service was terrible. We were seated to the table right away. After that lady just took the order and the short guy put the food on the table. That was it!!! That was the last time they gave us what they might call service. There were 4 of us. They gave us 2 water. I had to ask him for water for my son. Asked for small bowls to share the food for 4 persons, got only one bowl. I had to ask him twice. I let him know that there was no spoon in the container on the table. He told me "I know!" And walk away without even look at me. That was the only word i heard from him in 40 minutes. We sat in there about 40 minutes, they did nothing except took order and put food on table. That's it. Nothing else. Never check up, never ask how is the food. It was how they treat their customers. Definitely the best pho in town. I have a vietnamese friend and he swore he was craving for the pho here even if he was in vietnam. The soup is tasty you can taste the flavor from the beef/bone and not from too much additives. I think they make their own noodles too and this is why they stand out among the rest! Their noodles are just the right tenderness, doesn't taste like plastic and you can tell it's fresh and that it didn't come from a package. The service is so fast and you can always customize your order to your own desire! You can always feel that they care for you and that they want you to enjoy your food. The price is perfect too. Good food, terrible service. I was running errands and stopped by for a quick bite by myself. I sat at a 2 top next to the window and then moved over to a 4 top because the table was in direct sun and really warm. The entire restaurant was 25% full at best with 6-8 vacant tables and the owner came and told me I couldn't sit there because it was just me. Rude. Moving on, my spring rolls were awesome and my stir fried chicken bowl was ok, a little too much gravy on the chicken. I waited a good 10-15 minutes after I was done for the server and owner to notice I was still waiting for a box. I asked for the check and she never returned. I finally waited in line at the counter and paid . For what should have been a very quick lunch turned into more waiting than anything else on what was not a busy time. Worst pho I've had in a while. The tendon is harder than plastic. They need to take that crash of the menu, if they don't know how to cook it. It's an offense to be served it. The food here is great - authentic, good variety and decent prices (a little higher than the vietnamese places downtown). It's close to my house, so we visit often. I would give them more stars for the food, but the service can be really rough. When we take out and ask for sauce containers, they are very hesitant to give us more than one tiny container for condiments. It can be very frustrating arguing back and forth as to why we would go through more than one or two little cups of condiments (hoisin, sriracha, etc.). We visit Asian Pho about once a week for take-out, as it is on my route home from work. The staff knows us by sight and greets us with enthusiastic smiles and friendly hellos. We've tried almost everything on the menu but generally order the fresh spring rolls (we request tofu instead of shrimp), vegetable/egg noodle soup, fried noodles (with vegetable--we add tofu), lemongrass pork noodle bowl, and on weekends we make a special trip to get the banh xao (Vietnamese crepe filled with fresh herbs and shrimp). Although everything tastes fresh, we love the vegetable dishes, as the veggies are plentiful, perfectly steamed and bright-- with the right amount of crunch. The serving size for the take-out vegetable soup is HUGE. One box for the noodles and vegetables (baby bok choy, paper-thin onions, carrots, broccoli, French-fried crispy onions), one tub for the broth, one bag for the condiments (hosin/sirracha, cilantro, bean spouts, jalapeno, lime). Two meals, at least. Take out boxes are carefully assembled and double-wrapped to prevent spills/leaks on the way home. Two enthusiastic thumbs up! We've had the Chinese food options a few times and they are fine. Clearly Asian Pho specializes in Vietnamese, so that's what we generally order. When we're in the mood for Chinese items, we prefer elsewhere. If you haven't had banh xao before, I urge you to try it at Asian Pho--on weekends only. The crepe is crispy thin and stuffed with fresh goodness. We gobble it like this: [furious hand-to-mouth motion]. The dine-in atmosphere is oh, SO Reno. It shares a building with a gas station convenience store, a Redbox unit, and a Wendys. It also shares a parking lot with a car wash. I think I am on a Vietnamese kick lately, so I wanted to try someplace new. I got take out yesterday for lunch. I called in my order before going and the man I spoke with on the phone sounded so bored, disinterested, and depressed. I honestly felt that he had somehow drained my energy after speaking with him. When I went to go pick up, the same man I spoke with on the phone rang me up and handed me my meal. Again, how bored he looked made me want to crack up. I don't think I have ever spoken to a more indifferent and stoic person. Anyway, I got the #50 Broiled pork and imperial egg rolls. It was pretty good. Not the best I've had, but among the better. Food is always great and people know it. Ive made it a habit of ordering to go. It seems like the employees are always on their cell phones speaking very loudly. When there isn't anyone to help, they like to come out to the dining tables and sit there to have their noisy conversation. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but here I am. So I've eaten here a long time ago and from what I remembered it was pretty good. My boyfriend and I decided to stop here for lunch yesterday. When we walked in, no one greeted us which isn't usually a deal breaker for me. We sat down and I noticed that the whole place didn't seem that clean, there was food that fell under the table before we got there, the sauce bottles felt sticky, and I felt the need to wipe down the chopsticks, spoon and little sauce bowl before using them. For the appetizers we ordered gyozas (pot stickers) and spring rolls. I ordered rare steak pho and my boyfriend got a Vietnamese sandwich. I thought it was interesting that she didn't write down our order but she would write down other people's orders. We had to repeat our order a second time to her. The spring rolls and my pho came out really fast, followed by the pot stickers. They didn't give me the garnishments for my pho (bean sprouts, Thai basil, lime, cilantro, etc). The pot stickers looked exactly like the packaged ones you get at a grocery store and they just baked them there. The spring roll wrap wasn't soft and the peanut sauce was too runny. So I'm already half way done with my pho and my boyfriend's sandwich never came out. We wait.. and wait a little more. He gets up and talks to the lady at the counter, she smiles and says "oh I forgot." Ummm maybe that's why she should have written down our order in the first place. She apologized a few more times after with a weird smile on her face. When his sandwich finally comes out, I'm already done with my food. I went up to pay and she didn't even offer a discount or anything for forgetting part of our order. Literally the ONLY good thing I liked about this place was the pho broth, but tere's no way I'd come back or recommend this place. I mean the food is cheap so I guess you get what you pay for.
