Very good taste! Authentic Chinese food!!The chef was the chef of a five star hotel, Nanhai Hotel, in Shenzhen, China. And Nanhai Hotel was the first five star hotel opened 30 years ago in Shenzhen, and it is still in operation. You can find this information on the wall near the table in store. I knew Nanhai Hotel because I worked in Shenzhen for many years. The chef is very decent and professionally dressed. The store's environment is cozy with very warm service. This is absolutely the best Chinese food I've had outside of the Bay Area in CA. Their sea salt calamari, crab puffs, and potstickers are our absolute favorite appetizers. For main dishes, our go-to favorites are beef lo mein, Mongolian beef, and walnut shrimp. Everything we've ordered has been amazingly delicious. The beef is tender and juicy and even reheats superbly well (we like ordering extra so we can take home leftovers). The customer service is absolutely stellar!!! Never had a bad experience here and never ordered anything I didn't like. I recommend this place to everyone - visitors request returning to this place every time they come to visit!! It's a tiny little hole in the wall but i think it's the best Chinese restaurant in Tucson. The chef is right up front where you can watch him and he's terrific. Very nice, friendly people. No MSG (I hate msg powder!), very clean, choice of white or brown rice, interesting dishes (try something new - tell them you want authentic Chinese style - and they'll even customize your order when they are not super busy and even cook ingredients you bring in with you), big portions, military discount, takeouts (most people get that here because the seating area is so small) come in leakproof containers. The downside is their fame has spread and it gets quite crowded around dinnertime, but nothing ridiculous, like a line out the door and down the block, not yet anyway. The Singapore air force trains in Tucson and they come here to eat. Some of their favorite Singapore style dishes are on the menu. I love this place. I get the Singapore Curry noodles. The same chef is always there with the distinctive hat. It took a time or two, but he finally got it, that when I say I want it crazy spicy, now when I walk in he doesn't even wait for server. I have had their take out. The food was not good. I decided to take my son to eat lunch there. The place was packed there was a table open. I went to the table and the asian lady that worked there when up to me and said this table is taken. Another asian lady walked in and sat down at the table. My son and I walked out. Will not return. As a local Chinese Tucson finally has a place that has authentic tasting Chinese food. I'm a meat eater but I found myself eating all the veggie dishes. Their veggies in garlic sauce is amazing. Visiting Tucson and Yelp says this is a 4.5 place, and it's right around the corner from our hotel, so let's go. It is a very small storefront restaurant.....maybe 5 booths total. I imagine a lot of it's business is take-out, but we just arrived and the hotel isn't very comfortable to eat lunch, so we sit down. Immediately greeted, menus arrive, drink order taken, answer questions and order. Soup comes and it is delicious, but very hot (which is actually good, cold soup is nasty but had to get it cooled down so I can eat it up. Some Hot and Sour Soups can be overwhelming in the HOT, but this spice level was just about right. I had the Cashew Shrimp lunch which was a delicious blend of cashews, mushrooms, squash, green peppers and a delightful sauce. There is 5 large shrimp....sure I'd like more, but for $6 that seemed about right. In addition to the soup and the entree, you also had the choice of egg rolls or 2 crab puffs. I got the crab puffs....enjoyed them! Folks with me had the sweet and sour chicken and the lemon chicken lunches, and the egg roll.
