    Egg Flower Soup

So happy to have a delicious Chinese spot nearby that has daily lunch specials and a wonderful variety of dishes. I've dined in and gotten takeout several times, and the food is delicious both ways. Service is friendly. There aren't a ton of booths, so you may have to wait, but they're quick and efficient. I love the cashew chicken, sesame chicken, and moo goo gai pan. The fried rice is the perfect complement, and the egg flower soup and egg rolls are tasty too. Don't skip the hot mustard, it's the real stuff. Even the Thai tea is great! The lunch special is an unbeatable value and has earned me as a loyal customer. Can't wait to keep trying more options from the menu.

One of my friends recommended this place but I don't live close I finally got the chance to try it! I'd say one of the top Chinese food places in Tucson. I'd rank it #2 next to Fatman kitchen. The space is small they maybe have 4-5 tables. We came right before a rush but it was super speedy service! We had crab puffs and they were well done, super fresh and the sauce was great. They put green onions in which added really nice flavor. My husband and I shared orange chicken with fried rice I was really happy they didn't even up charge us for fried rice because most places do. The batter was great, crispy and moist chicken inside. The sauce was flavorful and they put orange peel in the sauce which I feel like added a nice flavor on top. Overall this is some of the best Chinese food I've found. A real gem!

Are any of the dishes made with chicken breast meat? My wife only eats white meat.

Hi Karl, almost all of our chicken dishes are made with chicken breast meat, except our orange chicken and sesame chicken. However, we can also make these dishes with white meat upon request. Thank you!

The menu seems a bit more fusion than traditional but a good balance of pushing boundaries without trying too hard. We made a reservation for lunch on a Sunday but were only one of three parties. The ambiance inside is cute and cozy and I'm sure the patio is nice during the cooler months. We ordered quite a bit but our favorites definitely were the pork belly appetizer, the hafu roll, and the neo-genesis roll. I'd love to come back and try their ramen.

Walked in, immediately greeted and sat at the bar, our request. The hostess also our cocktail and beer server. Hubby had a delicious clarified cocktail which was absolutely yummy but at $18 a pop for a good four drinks and it's gone cocktail, ok. I know they take time to make. I had a $10 Sapporo draft. We then ordered two pork Bao Buns, two sushi rolls, the Shiro Maki and the Tataki Maki. Both really good, really well rolled, not an abundance of rice either. I am obsessed with Ramen, I decided to order the house Ramen, the Obon, without the Bonito flakes because I'm not a fan. Looked good when it came, I just wasn't happy with it. It lacked something, umami, a well developed broth, who knows, I just know it wasn't what I normally like. It gave me heartburn from hell too. Overall, $150 later I left somewhat dissatisfied and disappointed. For a Sunday, at noon, four tables worth of patrons. Not loud, not super quiet, nice ambiance. I doubt that I'll go back, if we do, it will be for their $22 rolls of sushi.

Stopped by for an early afternoon brunch today. Big mistake…read more But first, let me say that our server was friendly and attentive and could not have been more helpful. Promptly seated, drinks brought out, order taken and food delivered fast, hot and correct. The background music was some chinese music tv station playing modern easy listening tunes and, along with the comfortable chairs and solid table made for a relaxing environment. The food? meh. You can see our order in the latest photo and how expensive it was. the Lo Mein was mostly tasteless and certainly lacking in thast "lo mein flavor." Although the meat was tender, the sauce was just a sticky brown sauce. Surprisingly, the Spicy Pickle Tofu was essentially the same sticky brown sauce as the Lo Mein but with some fried tofu in it and without the noodles but nothing otherwise remarkable. You can tell by looking at my earlier picture attached. The old picture shows a bright and colorful plate. The dish today was a dark brown (you could hardly see the tofu from the beef) as everything was just dark. Eggplant seemed to have a similar brown sauce as well but the eggplant was otherwise tasteless. Nothing popped. Chicken bites were bland and not at all crunchy. Just fried to soft texture but no real flavor. According to our server, the menu was just recently updated about a month ago. We noticed because one of our favorites was the Fried Taro Pie which is now gone from the menu and the server said yes, that's right. Maybe this place has a new owner or chef, but it's no longer in my top asian restaurants for Tucson.

First, if bar seating is available, I highly recommend taking it. Service tends to be much faster there, especially during busy times. The staff is friendly and works hard, but they often seem overwhelmed, which can make refills and table service a little slow at times. The happy hour specials are fantastic and offer excellent value. The drink selection is solid, with fair and moderately priced cocktails and beverages. If you order one thing, make it the spicy edamame--it's easily one of the standout items on the menu. As for the sushi, the fish tastes fresh and most of the rolls are delicious. The only item I would personally skip next time is anything topped with the tempura sauce, as I found it didn't complement the rolls very well. Beyond that, the sushi quality was excellent. One important tip: avoid arriving on concert or event nights unless you're prepared to wait. During busy events at Casino del Sol, wait times can stretch to two hours or more. Again, if you can grab a seat at the bar, you'll likely have a much better experience. Overall, Ume offers fresh sushi, great happy hour specials, friendly staff, and reasonable drink prices. Despite occasional service delays during peak times, it's definitely worth a visit.
