It was my first time there last night and let me tell you the food was AMAZINGG. Shoutout mel for introducing me to this place!! The service was great, the staff were friendly and quick. The ambiance was wonderful, quiet, relaxed, and they even had appealing decorations. 10/10

We love this locally owned restaurant. The food is delicious. No matter how busy they are, our order always comes out fast. The staff is helpful in choosing the perfect dish. The restaurant is clean and always ready for whatever size your party is. Oh and they have lots of vegetarian options.

    Thai iced tea...not good

I wasn't sure what to expect from here but I was very disappointed. The food was mediocre at best, the prices were a bit high for the food quality, and the service was just weird! The only nice thing was the restaurant atmosphere, and my boyfriend liked his dish. Otherwise everything just wasn't good. Here's our experience: Food: My boyfriend and I both ordered Thai iced tea, and a shared plate of crab rangoon. He ordered the Mongolian beef for his entree and I ordered the BBQ pork noodle soup. The Thai iced tea was watered down and definitely came from a pre-mix pack. It was gross. The crab rangoon were large but tasted weird. His Mongolian beef was tasty which was the only highlight. My soup was awful. There were maybe 4 pieces of BBQ pork and some had burnt ends which tasted bitter. There was also some fatty parts. The cabbage in my soup had weird little brown spots on each piece so I took them out. The broth was flavorless so I added quite a bit of soy sauce. All in all the food was a miss. Prices: Our total bill came to around $55 which seemed very high to me. I don't think any of the food was worth the price. Service: While the service was quick, our waitress was very odd. She kept commenting on whether we finished or didn't finish a certain food item which was awkward. It is none of her business how we eat (or don't eat) our food! Unfortunately we won't be back anytime soon. There's so many other Chinese food places around which are much better!

I don't know why this place has a low rating, but as soon as we walked in, we liked the ambiance and the staff were really friendly. As soon as we were seated our server has offered us the menu and asked what we wanted to drink. That's one thing we wanted in places we dine. Hospitality is key. The place is clean and not too cramped with tables and chairs. They were nicely spaced out. And food is great! One thing that I was not too crazy about is their Thai tea. For me, it was too bland. But everything was good. The portion is just right for their price. If you're looking for a good Chinese restaurant, you may want to consider this place.

Tried this place tonight and it's absolutely the best Chinese food I've ever had in Tucson! We got that appetizer sampler, everything was so hot and crispy. I got the Szechuan chicken and let me tell you it was perfect! The sauce was just the right and my husband had the sweet and sour pork which he really enjoyed. It wasn't to busy, fast friendly service. They would have gotten 5 stars but my husband used the restroom and he said it was dirty. The switch plate was black.

Good Chinese food. The location was convenient. The server was helpful. Recommend if you're craving a good Chinese dinner.

It's a small, clean restaurant with about 9 tables, and the service is impressively fast. The owner, Andy, is hands-on and personally makes sure everyone is enjoying their meal, which adds a great local feel. The Food * Street Dumplings (Fried): We started with these as an appetizer--absolutely delicious! * House Special Chow Mein: My husband really enjoyed this; it was flavorful , good for two and well-prepared * Vermicelli Salad with Chicken: refreshing and colorful dish that balances warm, savory grilled chicken with cold rice vermicelli noodles, crisp raw vegetables, and a zesty, light dressing. Atmosphere & Service Even though it's a smaller space, it's very popular. I noticed a constant stream of "to-go" orders and delivery drivers picking up, which is always a good sign that the locals love it. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town. Highly recommended!

It has become a standing tradition for my husband to use this dish at Mantis as a way to get me excited about something that doesn't involve stopping in busy phoenix for dinner on a long drive back to Tucson. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! Promptly seated, drinks brought out, order taken and food delivered fast, hot and correct. The background music was some chinese music tv station playing modern easy listening tunes and, along with the comfortable chairs and solid table made for a relaxing environment. The food? meh. You can see our order in the latest photo and how expensive it was. the Lo Mein was mostly tasteless and certainly lacking in thast "lo mein flavor." Although the meat was tender, the sauce was just a sticky brown sauce. Surprisingly, the Spicy Pickle Tofu was essentially the same sticky brown sauce as the Lo Mein but with some fried tofu in it and without the noodles but nothing otherwise remarkable. You can tell by looking at my earlier picture attached. The old picture shows a bright and colorful plate. The dish today was a dark brown (you could hardly see the tofu from the beef) as everything was just dark. Eggplant seemed to have a similar brown sauce as well but the eggplant was otherwise tasteless. Nothing popped. Chicken bites were bland and not at all crunchy. Just fried to soft texture but no real flavor. According to our server, the menu was just recently updated about a month ago. We noticed because one of our favorites was the Fried Taro Pie which is now gone from the menu and the server said yes, that's right. Maybe this place has a new owner or chef, but it's no longer in my top asian restaurants for Tucson.

The dish that used to be my go to was the ginger chicken, but the chicken quality is noticeably less tender, on the stringy side. So I switched to order other dishes like their tofu dishes or an occasional Mongolian meat dish. Again, the meat & sauce similarities (hard to tell them apart) are noticeable. It's still a decent place for a fast meal or easy takeout but I find myself looking elsewhere for Chinese food. Their fried rice was always basic, but now it's like it got hit with some soy sauce & little else Prices have gotten a bit higher (like they do :) though they're still cheaper than many) but quality has gone down a notch or more.
