Came here at 11 on a Thursday for the $5 buffet. There's a lot to choose from and also sushi! The sushi is not as good compared to those of a sushi bar or restaurant but not horrible either. It can get very crowded also so get ready for a long line at the buffet. It all just depends what time you get there. read more

Great place for a buffet. The food is hot and lots of selection to choose from. Service is good plenty of server to help you. The Mongolia BBQ grill is a nice addition. The sushi is fresh. Very Unsafe place to eat...! Really! ON Tuesday 11/29/2016 at about 5:22 p.m. dinner time, on my way home I stopped at the Asian Star Buffet for a quick dinner before home as I have done many, many time before. My last few visits the food quality had diminish and the food temperature have not been controlled by their employees and I have mentioned to the staff (specially the mid age Chinese woman maintaining the serving line with a long semi-pony tail hair). Yesterday I took soup (tofu with shrimps) although I stirred before served onto my soup cup the soup was lukewarm (not even close to a decent/safe 135º F, time and temperature?) and It was just the beginning of diner time? I served rice, noodles, teriyaki chicken, broccoli beef, fry calamari and cheese stuffed wanton on my plate. I try the rice, cold! The noodles, cold! The teriyaki chicken, cold! The beef-broccoli death cold! I got out of my both walked to the mid age Chinese woman keeping the food looking good...and told her, excuses me all the items that I serve in my plate are cold! She oh sorry, thank you and walked to the back kitchen...I returned to my seat and grab a bite of the fry calamari that besides it was also death cold (not even lukewarm, right from their serving line during the beginning of their dinner time) is was wrapped in a more than a 12 inches long black hair that I felt after few chews like a string in my mouth, spitted out onto my plate full with the other items that I did not eat because they were cold. I walked to the front desk to the gal who greet me and sat me at the booth and asked if they had a manager in site, your food is all cold (I did not even mentioned the hair, I wanted a manager) then suddenly she does not speak English...one of the servers (who knows me coming here regularly) came to me, I told her the same about the food been cold but nothing about the hair in my food. At my both she suddenly does not speak English and no manager on site. I sat on the both and from the food that I just spitted out of my mouth in front of the server, I pulled the hair chewed with the calamari and even more gross the long hair continue to the rest of the fry calamari when I lifted onto the hair, the couple sitting next to my both can't believe how long that hair was (they were eating only Sushi) and cold fruit....! Then, suddenly the server who do not speak English, she spoke English, after I told her "you know me coming here for long time", she said let me call my manager, she walked back to me and said manager is coming, Don't Paid the food..! I told her...paid? ....I don't even going to eat and I will not eat this unsafe food. Her manager was not in the facility but he was coming to. I got up and left that place. Now, I try to contact this company, I research in the internet and found a bogus website that direct you to a bunch of links-webs....! And calling their number is no worth. To the real point of this issue!................. FOOD SAFETY and FOOD QUALITY ....................... I wish I can posted here and to the public, the pictures of my plate with the long black hair of over 12 inches in length...embedded, rolled, twisted with the cold fry calamari that I placed in my plate and give a few chews...disgusting and just a simple example of the poor hygienic and food safety practices in this location, in addition with the below poor quality of their food...! I am a ServSafe Food Protection Manager, a ServSafe Instructor and Registered ServSafe Examination Proctor with over 25 years experience managing all types of food operations with a major focus on quality and food safety, additionally been a Chef for many years and holding an State Certification for food services operations place me in a position to express my professional opinions without bias, just the simple facts...! I am going to make it simple... Q1-You arrives at a buffet place at 5:20 p.m. right at the beginning of their dinner rush...you put 6 items on your plate and a soup, quickly sit to start eating (that way you stopped there, for a fresh, tasty, hot food) taste the soup, lukewarm, 5 item of the 6 are cold (not even lukewarm)? A1 This establishment had a low core lever of professionalism, no controls and are mixing their lunch left over with the new fresh items to safe cost. Q2-You take a bite of an item you always eat and like, but right after 2 or 3 chews you felt something strange and find out there is a more that a 12 inches in length black hair coming from the food you have in your mouth into your plate? A2- The hygiene practices of the staff in this location is an unknown subject for them as well as no important subject for the organization they work for. the food was a bit mediocre, not even fresh at all. the service was poor and the restaurant has this horrible smell. they don't even clean their restrooms nor do they put toilet seat covers. i mentioned to one of the staff about replenishing them in the restrooms, and i was completely ignored! their check-in offer isn't really an offer since you pretty much spend about the same without it. oh well. i doubt i'd come back here again (or at least not for a very, very long time)! read more

I've been here only once and let me say, the food is terrible. The service was great and everything. It's just the food. I didn't like how most of the items were stale and well not flavored at all. This place used to be one of my favorites. Today they served spoiled Peach's. Advised mgr I had eaten it and felt woozie. Manager told me if I got sick... bring hospital bill back to him. Huh? It smelled like sewage. It was rotten. I complained and they said it was a bad batch. But that wasn't the problem as one of the previous comments stated ... the waitress was rude and demanded a tip. I had my wallet in my hand ready to open it but told her if she was going to demand a tip... forget it. I put it back in my purse. First time ever that a waitress had her hands on hip with nasty attitude. I wrote zero tip on transaction intending to give her cash. She demanded "you give me tip" informed manager and he said that she should never have said that. He looked angry then turned around and went looking for her. I left. First time here an the food was ok in taste but some foods were cold I'm not sure if it was because the ac was on full blast. Not many desserts ,an it actually looks like a hospital cafeteria white walls and plain no decoration. Came here on a Friday night with my friend where she recommended me this place for us to eat. The food was super greasy and has a plain simple taste. Once we finish paying our order the waitress asked for her tip. I gave her a certain amount of money as her tip and she demanded for more. Went with my girlfriend over the weekend very good waiters but while she was eating her dumplings she found a hair in one of them thankfully we havrle just served our first plate we both stop eating because how disgusting it was. Let me start by saying I have been going there a few times and for the most part happy with the food, however their staff needs improvement. I was watching the TV and one of the employees was right next to me and he saw me watching it. This last time I went there will be my last. Sure there new lunch spcial price is $4.99 is great, however now they want a $10 minimum credit card charge or pay $.50 for it. They put this on a little can behind the desk and as I was about to pay for my meal they put this on the desk. I told them, if they want a minimum charge for credit cards, then they should post it so everyone can see it as they walk in and I fused to pay a surcharge for spring this on me. Most of foods are too much salty like sea water,specially meat and other foods are mostly salty also. I eat a piece of sliced steak and Korean Kalbi. It is very salty. Standard Asian AYCE buffet. Food selection is like most others. The food taste just fine. They did spend a lot of money making the place look nice. Well lit and spacious. They do have a full size Mongolian grill. Unfortunately, it didn't taste that great. The sauces they use could use some work. I'll give them time to work out the kinks to their Mongolian section. Don't let the outside looks fool you, inside is clean, spacious and new! It's great for a local place. The food itself is above average. Not really sure what the other food experts are expecting but it is what it is (it's an Asian buffet! ). The ayce sushi is far better quality than most sushi you get at buffet places. Most of the dishes are your typical Asian dishes, nothing new. What surprised me the most is the hibachi grill! The staff is friendly, which is the reason why I gave a 5 star rating. Lunch special is great $4.99!!! I've ate there two times once for dinner and this last time for lunch. I love there selection of fried and steam food. My absolute favorite is beef broccoli and fried rice. Sushi rolls are kept cooled and separate from other foods which is good cause they don't get other flavors.
