We picked up dinner here this evening, sorry to say, it was not good. We ordered egg rolls, and what they really are is a spring roll. I got the Japanese ramen with chicken, it was more like chicken noodle soup and definitely wasn't ramen. We also got the pad Thai which was a funny pink color, not that good. The chicken in both meals was rubbery. We wasted money and didn't even eat our dinner. The picture on the website shows an actual egg roll, the pic of what we got is a spring roll, If there were veggies, I missed them! Won't be going back sadly.

It's a strip mall restaurant near a Walmart so there's tons of parking but it's nothing fancy. Service has always been polite and helpful. The space is pretty basic and well lit during the day from the big windows. But I absolutely love it here. The reason I keep coming back is that the homemade dumplings are phenomenal. Tender well seasoned filling and homemade wrappers steamed then pan fried to the perfect texture. The sushi is pretty standard good sushi spot offerings. The udon noodles are great, a little sweet for my taste but overall delicious and what my partner orders every time. I should really branch out and try Thier other things but it's so hard to not fill up on dumplings.

We were craving noodles and decided to give the chicken udon a try. What a disappointing choice. The broth was watered down with hardly any flavor to it. The udon was all broken in pieces, which makes me think it was the dregs from the bottom of a bag. The chicken was spongy, a sign that it was seasoned with MSG. And the bokchoy was over cooked and mushy. Service was minimal. Took our order, delivered the food, and brought the check. Nothing else in between. Definitely won't be coming back here for udon or anything else.

We were driving through from vacation and my daughter wanted sushi. The sushi was fresh and tasty. You can tell the tuna was fresh. The fried tofu and vegetables tempura was battered well and very good. Mongolian beef was nicely seasoned and cooked well. The business is family owned and operated. They were very attentive and very nice. We should always support local! A +++

4 1/2 stars for the food but rounding up to 5 for how nice the waiter and the entire staff were. I got the General Tso chicken with Fried Rice and was satisfied. The Asheville area is severely lacking in good Chinese food places and this is thankfully a good one! I will be back!

We didn't ever get a refill of water (so thirsty) but everyone was super friendly and the food was very fresh.

I've actually been to this little hole in the wall takeout place twice now. Once when they had just opened (and i do mean just, like either the grand opening day or a few days after. We didn't plan that we just happened to notice it). I try to rate on yelp based on what category of restaurant we're talking about. Comparing this place to some really excellent three star michilin restaurant itd be a one star in comparison. However, if you expect takeout type food, this is pretty much the best quality takeout place I've been to in Asheville at the time of me writing this. We did get a couple of appetizers that I didn't get pictures of: the Crab Rangoons, which are a guilty pleasure of ours, and some Miso soup. Both were enjoyable. I will say I prefer my Miso soup to taste strongly of Miso whereas this one is quite light. But we've been to far more expensive places with Miso Soup that tastes like dishwater and this is not that. It's perfectly good and acceptable. For our actual dinner I happened to notice they had a bento box on special which included General Tso's chicken, rice, a spring roll, vegetables, and half a california roll, all for $10. Idk if the picture captures how much food that I actually got, but I can say that I ate it twice, it was basically two full meals. Everything was prepared well and tasted good. My girlfriend ordered two sushi rolls, a dragon roll and a rainbow roll, so of course i tried those as well. Both were pretty well made and everything tasted fresh. Again, im not going to compare this to anything like an omikase sushi master would make because that's not what this is. It's $10 rolls at a takeout restaurant. And for being that, it's pretty good, better than most takeout places for sure. I'd say if you happen to have a craving for some American-Chinese style takeout food, this would be the place to go.

My husband and I come here often . It's so good . Great sushi . Everything is very fresh . Great service . If you can't make it there . You can order on the one of the delivery app.

Salmon Teriyaki lunch special (came with side of fried rice and miso soup)

It was pretty chill inside for lunch on Monday. I would say that this place has one of the best lunch specials in Asheville. The regular sushi rolls are a great price too. I ordered the beef lo-mein and my wife ordered the salmon teriyaki lunch specials. My portion was big enough to take home half for later as well as my wife's (hers came with a side of fried rice and miso soup). Service was prompt. The only thing that surprised me was the health rating of 92.5! The whole restaurant looked really clean to me ‍.

Udon is open again after Helene - same location with the decor and ambiance all fresh and new. Everything is just as delicious as before and everyone there just as nice as ever. Today's lunch included maki, hibachi, noodles, soup and special rolls - and it was all wonderful. Moderately priced - even more so with the Grand Re-opening discount of 20% good now to 9/9. Definitely worth a visit soon! read more

We stopped in to Udon Sushi and Noodle for dinner and couldn't be more thrilled with our experience. The food was delicious. We had the homemade pork and veggie dumplings, udon noodles with chicken, and pad Thai with chicken. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Our server, Jordan, was kind and attentive. Me and my wife got a menu in the mail to try Udon. We were pretty excited to try it only to be let down. I ordered the Chicken & Steak hibachi and my wife ordered the California Roll and Chicken Lo Mein. The chicken and steak in both meals tasted rubbery and there was no seasoning whatsoever. The sushi was good from what my wife had to say. This will probably be me and my wife's first and last time trying this establishment. read more

I'm not quite sure how I stumbled upon Udon Sushi & Noodle but I am pretty damn happy I did. It's kind of hidden in a strip mall, so expect nothing fancy. But don't let the location and first appearance distract you from why you came here. The food. It's delicious. I've only tried the Pad Thai and a few appetizers, it's hard for me to try new things when I find something I really like. Despite what others may say, I can be a pretty simple lady. Tofu pad Thai with extra veggies. Thats all I need from a god Thai place. Udon also serves sushi so I am looking forward to giving that a go. Unfortunately I was crunched for time so I wasn't able to try the daily specials. But they look like will get me away from my noodles any day now. Which is a HUGE serving. After stuffing my face I still had 2 more servings of leftovers. With a $4 tip I paid $15 for my meal, cant beat that honestly. I placed my pick up order quick and easily online. I was able to pay on my card ahead or pay at pick up. My food was ready 10 minutes early which was appreciated since I was running late and my stomach was screaming at me. The ladies working the front were very kind and had taken out the single use plastics like I requested, you'd be surprised how many places over look this. For lunch on a Tuesday I would say they had a pretty good crowd. every one looked like they were enjoying their meals, most plates were empty. I am that creepy person watching what you eat so I can get ideas for what to order next time but hopefully you havent read this far. All in all, great find and I can see myself becoming a regular! read more

Most disappointing dinner ever. Was looking for a change from the Christmas leftovers & ended up picking up food from Udon. Ive been there to eat in person & enjoyed it but for the first time, I ordered Pad Thai. When I got home, the whole container of food was pink, the noodles, chicken, all of it. Even though it was not pleasing to look it, I gave it a go. It had no flavor & did not taste fresh at all. For what I can remember, that was the first time I just threw the whole plate of food in to the garbage. I hate wasting food but I really question the color. Back to leftovers it is. read more

Definitely recommend! We have been here four times and have found the food to be delicious from the wonderful noodle dishes and soups to the so very fresh sushi! The service is always impeccable and the staff very helpful and friendly. We travel to Asheville just for this food! Well worth the trip! read more

Got the General Tso's. Nothing life changing (how could it be?) but delicious nonetheless. I asked for it to be extra spicy and they brought me mango habanero sauce as well as red chili paste. Okay I reviewed this spot when it first opened. I have been there many times since. This unknown little place is a gem! Easy seating. Great for carryout. Every dish I have had, has met my needs/expectations. Right now I am home eating Thai coconut noodle soup w/shrimp, yellowtail w/jalapeños in a sauce & a specialty roll. Everything is so fine. My husband's sesame chicken was also tough and difficult to chew. We were surprised to see an additional charge of nearly $4 for substituting fried rice, as that wasn't mentioned when ordering. I really wanted to like this restaurant because it's close to home and we don't have many options for this type of cuisine nearby. Unfortunately, our first experience was disappointing.

The house mix had an odd flavor that nobody at the table could quite identify, and it seriously lacked spice. It was just kinda bland. I noticed a bottle of Firewalker hot sauce on the table, and splashing that in helped a little bit. After that, I transitioned to a mimosa. You really cannot mess up a mimosa too much, and it was a solid, reliable second drink. For the main event, I ordered the southern chicken and waffles. This came with a fried chicken breast sitting on golden malted waffles, smothered in sausage gravy, and drizzled with chipotle honey. It was a really great dish. The kitchen did a solid job with the fry on the chicken, and the gravy had a nice flavor. It leaned a little on the sweet side because of the honey, but it was not totally overdone. The real sleeper hit of the morning, though, was the side of cheesy grits. Those grits were absolute heaven. They were incredibly creamy and perfectly seasoned. If you go, you have to order them. I arrived around 5:30 without a reservation and was warmly greeted by the hostess, who offered me a table or a seat at the bar. Asheville was surprisingly hot and humid compared to the cool mountain weather I'd been enjoying, so the air-conditioned dining room was an easy choice over the sidewalk patio. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Fresh flowers, warm lighting, elegant stone countertops, comfortable booths, tables, and bar seating create an atmosphere that feels polished without being stuffy. Nostalgia driven decor paying homage to the Chef and her heritage. Friendly staff that were quick to greet and offer assistance. I will admit to not liking fish, but being a fan of the Chef, knowing that I wanted to try her food, I was happy with the shrimp burger. The side alone can make a memorable meal, and there were multiple other sides we wanted to try, but didn't have the room. An excuse to visit and try the food again in the future!

The crust was charred and chewy the way it should be, and the balance of the sweet peach slices and spicy Italian sausage was the perfect compliment. We also had the charred little gem salad with housemade dressing. Bright and smoky! For dinner, I opted for the pork cannelloni with the au jus they pour over table side. Everyone enjoyed their selections - bucatini and rigatoni. Rob brought us a carbonated spruce after to cleanse our palates. When my friend asked about the bread service, but didn't order, Rob presented us with mile high focaccia bread with coarse salt and butter on top. Chewy, warm and so good. I had to stop myself from eating too much, because I already had the pizza. We all opted to forgo dessert, but Rob, wouldn't allow it. He surprised us with house-made soft serve strawberry rhubarb ice cream with chocolate flake. Do yourself a favor and order this! Plus, he brought out the lemon ricotta crumb cheesecake. What a wonderful little spot! I discovered this place a couple months ago, and it quickly grew to become one of my favorite sushi/Asian fusion restaurants in Asheville. The owners and the waitstaff are kind people, and you can tell they care about service and the quality of their food. I've had most of their sushi rolls, clear soups, a few appetizers( shrimp egg roll is BOMB), and they're spicy chicken Chinese dish is to die door. Amazing good! The sushi is always on point. And the Thai coconut curry soup is literally my favorite thing to eat in Asheville.
