My husband and I stopped in for lunch for the first time yesterday. I ordered the red curry with chicken, and he ordered the sesame chicken. The total for our two meals was over $40, and close to $50 with tip. Unfortunately, neither dish met our expectations. The chicken in my red curry was chewy, somewhat slimy in texture, and lacked flavor. After a few bites, I didn't want to continue eating it. The vegetables also seemed undercooked, not just al dente, but almost raw. The curry sauce itself wasn't bad, but it was a bit watery and heavily seasoned with red chili flakes, which made it difficult to taste the curry flavors. My husband's sesame chicken was also tough and difficult to chew. We were surprised to see an additional charge of nearly $4 for substituting fried rice, as that wasn't mentioned when ordering. I really wanted to like this restaurant because it's close to home and we don't have many options for this type of cuisine nearby. Unfortunately, our first experience was disappointing. read more

Best Asian food in the Asheville 'burbs. Attached to an Asian market. Super fresh, great presentation. Most Chinese places get their supplies from the same distribution place (they also have the same pictures up on the wall of the dishes)... NOT this place. Original dishes done really well. This little joint serves top notch chicken pho and has so many ramen options that you could probably eat there for a couple weeks and only order ramen and you'd not have the same thing twice. Unless you're one of those "I order the same thing every time" people. Why? They have poke and hibachi and several other Asian offerings, but for me, it's all about their soup. They are connected to my favorite Asian market, so when I take out I go next door and grab some of my staples (they probably call me "chip guy" when they see me) but this isn't about the store it's about Mizu and Mizu is great. The first round we tried the red curry with tofu, and while we put a note in the comments to make it mild, we both ended up with cleared sinuses from the spice! The flavor and consistency was perfect, though. The second order was for pad see ew with tofu. If I could give them zero stars, I would. We had takeout Friday night and were we disappointed. And pretty disgusted. We ordered the pineapple fried rice with just vegetables. It came with a mass of non-food something on top. We didn't eat it. $12.99 wasted. The hibachi chicken was dry and tasteless. The sesame chicken was overcooked, like eating over cooked shredded chicken when I bit into it, and too sweet. The regular fried rice was greasy and tasteless after dumping soy sauce on top to make it edible. $55.65 into the garbage. When I called, and complained, they apologized profusely, told me this inedible substance was "shredded pork" and didn't offer a refund or anything. NEVER GOING BACK. read more

I've been waiting for this place to open up for a while. I was excited to have a noodle place so close to my neighborhood. It was definitely worth the wait. The staff was so nice and welcoming and genuinely looked happy to serve all the customers coming in. You can customize your ramen. I got ramen noodles in a chicken broth with wagyu and tofu. The food was a good portion, flavorful and served hot. Also had fried gyoza and they were tasty too! It was a tad bit expensive, but given today's current climate, it wasn't too surprising and I can give it a pass. Will definitely be coming back often! read more

On my birthday, following a family member's recommendation, I visited and enjoyed the food. For dine-in, I chose a green curry beef entree and ordered a wrapped poke burrito to go. However, when I returned yesterday and ordered essentially the same items, the curry dish for dine-in was fantastic as before, but the to-go poke burrito was missing a few items listed on the build-your-own menu. The marker on the menu was fading, so I didn't fault the food preparer, although the dish was not wrapped in nori like a burrito. Before leaving, I placed more to-go entrees: Beef Pad Thai and another poke burrito. This time, I wrote my order in big, bold letters on my iPhone, specifying the exact items I wanted, and had the server go over the contents of the wrap dish. They packed the food in a brown paper bag, but to my disappointment, when I got home, the poke dish was wrong again. It was not wrapped with nori, and it lacked sriracha. I appreciate the food, but the service suffered due to a lack of understanding or communication with the customer. Until they can simplify their ordering method, my ratings will remain unchanged. read more

So excited they are finally open! The same family that owns YZ Market opened a restaurant next door, one brother runs the store while the other runs the restaurant -- both are connected on the inside so that's super neat! The service was super friendly and a whole family affair. As for the food, the menu may look like it has too many choices with too varied cuisines but I have tried the red curry, a ramen bowl, poke and some of the apps and they all delivered deliciously, especially for the price!! This is such a welcomed addition to our neighborhood and I can't wait to continue to make my way through the menu and have this be one of our go to places in the future. More like a 3.5 stars for me. Tried Mizu in Asheville, next to YZ Market this past Saturday. They are newly open, so I think they will need to work some kinks out. I would give them a chance, but be patient. Most notably, the timing of our food was less than ideal. We ordered at the counter at 7:23 PM: General Tso's Chicken for the hubby, Curry Ramen with Ground Pork and Pork Belly for me. A friendly cashier gave us our number. House water is bottled and in a fridge that you retrieve yourself, while going around the line that forms in front of the cashier. There were no water glasses. 7:32 PM General Tso's chicken was delivered (just under 10 minutes). It looked and tasted pretty good. It could have been a little fresher. The batter tasted like it was cooked a while before and the sauce made it a tad soggy. It came with salad (in a plastic to go box) and rice. We asked about water glasses and a server brought them to us. I waited for my food and checked in with a server who disappeared for a while. I drank all our water while we waited and went back to the fridge and there was no more house water. My husband finished his meal so we were sitting at an empty table at this point. At 8:00 PM my curry ramen was delivered (37 min. after I ordered.) Our server apologized. The Curry Ramen thankfully was pretty tasty. Broth had a very good Japanese curry flavor. The ground pork was OK, but the pork belly was very, very good - nice meaty smokiness and not too fatty. Mizu has a lot of potential, but I feel their menu is way too large for the small operation that they run. Hopefully they will fine tune things over time. read more

Mizu is fantastic, eaten here twice now, once when they first opened and just had takeout recently. The first time it seemed like they were still working out a system for handling dine in and takeout but the food was incredible, and the atmosphere was very beautifully put together, they did a great job! The second time we got takeout just the other day and it was a great experience, food was done fast and tasted amazing. We got Pho and Green Curry and I'm always nervous about how soup will hold up in a Togo container, but they had a solution for that with these really great separated Togo containers that kept the noodles from soaking in the broth. Got my food home to my family and everything was amazing and held up perfectly, best takeout Pho I've ever tasted! Price for what we got was well worth it as well, 10/10 will eat here again! read more

There were multiple options, but I had to try the ramen. I love that you could customize your own bowl, and it was delicious! I got seafood, and was surprised at the variety that was included. Head-on shrimp, clams, octopus or maybe squid, fish cakes and some crab. The broth and noodles were delicious as well. My husband got the pineapple fried rice which was served in half a pineapple and was bright and flavorful. Very casual, I will probably get takeout in the future. I definitely want to try their poke bowl next. My only concern is this place is way too close to my house and I will get takeout way too often! read more

Asian Fusion from bowls to ramen and regular staples. We ordered the spicy and regular Tonkatsu ramen, and the Hong Kong chashu buns. Everything was absolutely delicious. Food coma inducing rich and spice was not for the faint hearted. I've been to Mizu twice this week and have loved it both times. VERY casual dining next to my favorite Asian Grocery (YZ). Open for lunch and dinner but closed for a break between 3-4pm. Delicious Ramen! I had the Black Garlic Ramen and swooned. My daughter had Tonkatsu Ramen and raved, go with the pork belly you won't regret it.
