Order almost ready. Very kind and welcoming. Very nice restaurant. Large! Booths, tables and chairs. Indian music playing. They were getting ready for a buffet lunch. Smelled Great inside! Received order shortly later with apologies for the wait. Not bad at all! Lunchtime! Order split! Chicken biryani was spicy & REALLY GREAT! Samosa was DELICIOUS! Lots of flavor! I recently had Asoka cater my daughter's wedding reception at the Golden Palace in Fresno. We met with Mandy prior to the event and she was so helpful in helping us select menu items, do a food tasting and cater to a fully vegetarian and nut free menu (due to some folks having nut allergies). On the day of the event, Mandy and her entire team cooked the food fresh on-site and all of our guests were so happy and loved the appetizers and dinner items. We got many compliments as to how delicious the food was. At the end of the night, Mandy's team even helped pack the leftovers for us to take home. I used to frequent this restaurant often during the afternoon for the lunch buffet. The food itself is good! Eventually I stopped coming because the staff were quite rude. The same woman worked there every time I was there. She always had a grimace on her face, and no matter how polite I tried to be, I felt unwelcome. They would play movies from Bollywood in the tv. Some were funny, or interesting. One movie I recall had a lone white guy, who looked like a barbarian and only made animal grunts. I wonder if this is what the staff think of it's pasty customers. read more

Don't be put off by picking up your take out from the grocery store next door this is some of the most authentic Indian food I've had. Everything was fresh and tasted like it was made by someones favorite Auntie. We ordered the buttered chicken, chana masala, rice, samosas and we ate all of it. I am getting really fed up with this place. The food is really good so that is not the issue. The issue is their bad communication when they are open or when they have to do catering. Three times I have tried coming here and they are either closed or when we sit down they tell us they aren't doing anymore table orders even though we called ahead. This place is a hidden gem, and I am so glad that they reopened after many, many months of closure due to the pandemic. Their lunch buffet is the best value around and so happy that it is now available again. Their butter chicken, goat curry, tandoori chicken are the best I've ever tasted. They also offer vegetarian dishes which are equally delicious. The spiciness ranges from mild ti medium. The staff are very friendly and are always ready to refill our drinks and clear our table. The ambiance is relaxed and the place is spacious. My mother and I come here almost every weekend. I took a friend to eat here once for lunch, and it's now one of her favorite places to eat. The best Indian Food I've tasted. I'm glad I popped my Indian Food cherry with Asoka. I've tried other Indian places and it was good, but this place is great. The butter chicken , tandoori chicken, garbanzos, and lentils are amazing and so is the fish pakora. Service was not bad at all. She barely speaks english, but she is friendly and smiles a lot so that helps. Prices are also reasonable, place is clean and plays cool bollywood music videos for our entertainment :) read more

Why haven't I eaten at this place more in the past? My friend and I went to this place when I lived in Parlier (which was about a year ago) and it was a pretty decent experience. We both loved the appetizers and I really liked my entree, but my friend wasn't so into his. I think it was really spicy or a weird texture. That stopped us from eating here in the future. However, we were both craving Indian food for some reason this day and we were in Sanger, so we weren't in the mood to drive to Fresno. We headed to this place and were hoping that it would be a better experience the second time around. As soon as we walked in, we noticed that the place was empty, which was good since the owner helped us really quick. He brought us out some of their mint flat bread and some chili sauces. I wish I could remember the name, but they were completely free, so we forgot to ask. We got about two servings of that and then ordered the vegetarian dinner special, which came with our choice of one vegetable entree, a plate of rice, lentil soup or salad, Naan bread, some yogurt side dish (forgot name) and you also get to choose between two appetizers, as well as a dessert. We ended up choosing the Samosa appetizer, which comes with two potato and pea dumplings (they tasted really good with the sweet sauce they provided). We also ordered an extra side of vegetable Naan bread. The point is that the food was delicious and our entire dinner came out to about $14 or so. The dinner special was $11.99 and the Naan bread was just a few bucks. I don't know if this is cheap for Indian food, but we were happy with the prices. Our entree (called Alu Matar) had potatoes and peas mixed with an onion-tomato sauce which tasted great mixed with the rice and scooped up with Naan bread. The lentil soup was a different flavor from what I am used to, and the yogurt side dish was homemade and I was not into the taste of it so much. The service was decent, but a little slow just because the owner also owns the Indian store next door, so he kept going back and forth throughout our meal. He left us the pitcher of water just in case we wanted to refill our waters and he helped us out when he could. I haven't eaten at too many Indian places, and there might be better and cheaper restaurants out there, but this is my favorite place for now and I highly recommend it.
