My pictures don't do any justice to the taste of food and the service you receive as soon as you walk in to door. This was one of the best finds in our way to Yosemite. Everyone was so welcoming from the get go. The best part about this restaurant was that they accommodate Jain restrictions and other allergies with almost everything on their menu. The owner himself is Jain and a very great host. Everyone came and checked on us and our time here was just amazing. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Their bread pakora reminded me of my childhood in Mumbai. Everything here is made to order and the taste was really fresh. Our entire order was Jain friendly but tasted exactly it would taste if it wasn't Jain. I definitely recommend gajar halwa and kulfi, the combo when I mixed it was really delicious. I can probably go on and on about the taste and service but even the restaurant was very clean especially for an Indian place and the ambiance was very nice too. So we came back a few months later because those black lentils were living rent-free in my head! The food is still excellent, and the service is still warm and attentive. The folks who run this place seem to really care about the quality of the food and the experience the guests have. Unlike our first visit on Valentine's Day which was very busy, we came back on a weekend evening this fall, and there were only a couple other diners. It seems like "the new normal" is that most business for these mom-and-pop type restaurants appears to be by Doordash, Grubhub, UberEats -- even if they're making plenty of sales, very few people come in and sit down. It's odd. You can no longer judge how good a restaurant will be by how many people are seating having dinner on a Saturday night. But despite not very many people dining in, it's a comfortable, welcoming, clean space. Everything was still fresh, delicious, and very similar to last time, EXCEPT: The main update I wanted to give is that the little "glitches" I noticed when the place was brand new are all gone now. This is just as I expected, but I wanted to let Yelpers know this. So yes, this time the got everything we ordered, we got sauces with the appetizer, and we were given full-size dinner plates. WOW! The location is at First and Shaw, where the previous 'Thai House' was for many years. HOW they transformed the interior, is nothing short of AMAZING ! I couldn't help myself, I was taking photos as I came through the door, because it was THAT impressive! It is one of the cleanest, most pleasant dining environments in Fresno! Their floors absolutely gleam! Pleasant Indian music plays in the background, creating a peaceful atmosphere. We came in at the end of the lunch buffet about 45 minutes before they closed. EVERY dish on the buffet that we tasted was flavorful, fresh and perfectly spiced. I especially enjoyed the eggplant dish. With the buffet, you have a choice of roti or naan. We chose the garlic naan, and it was one of the BEST that we have ever had (and we have had our share)! If you enjoy Indian food, this is the place! There is yogurt sauce available for the fresh vegetables. And the 'Sweet Carrot' dessert (I think flavored with fennel/anise seed) was delicious. This is my second visit to this venue. The food was excellent. I really loved the buffet as there is a wonderful assortment of curries, vegetable, and meat dishes. There's also some desserts if you still have room after trying everything. The staff are all very welcoming. The ambiance was great. I loved the background music, decorations and lighting. We came on a Saturday and were surprised they had the buffet open but opted to do dining instead. The butter chicken was our favorite. The chicken was tender, sauce was creamy and spicy just how we wanted it. The lamb korma was good but the lamb pieces itself were on the saltier end. The palak paneer was okay, with their paneer pieces smaller than what I've had at other places. The place has a nice formal feel and server was great. However we were sitting for awhile waiting for the check and no one informed us we had to go pay at the front. Overall, good place to have some Indian food. read more

My friend and I visited this establishment on a weekday evening and enjoyed our time there. More people were coming around 7/8 pm than there were present at 6 pm for whatever reason. This place bills itself as a fine dining establishment and it did feel that way. The servers were trained well and helpful when we were ordering. She also mentioned that since they are a newer establishment (around 4 months old), that their menu was small but they had room to make dishes that we might suggest if they had the ingredients, and I thought that was special. But we ordered the chicken tikka masala and the palak paneer. We ordered it mild, on a scale of mild to hot. The dishes were perfectly mild and not spicy at all. The spices were good, though I would say that the palak paneer could have used a bit more flavor. The chicken in the tikka masala could have been a little more tender, as it was bordering a little tough. I really liked that they brought out complimentary Indian thin chips topped with veggies and multiple sauces on the side. That was a tasty treat. The naan was freshly baked and delicious. My only thing is that the dishes did not come out hot, but slightly warm. But overall we enjoyed our food. We received warm towels to wipe our hands and mouth after our meal. Folks checked in on us throughout our meal as well. We were charged around $64 (includes tip) for the two dinner entrees, naan, and one side of rice, so this place is a little more on the pricy side. I was happy to try a new Indian restaurant in town. The room is very open and a bit too bright, but it looked modern with some very cool pictures on the wall. Everybody there was super friendly and helpful. Our wages was extremely attentive, nice and helpful. Now for the food. I liked that we were able to order the food at whatever spice level we wanted ( 1 to 10) as we all have much different tolerance levels. .We ordered the tandoori chicken which came out quickly on a hot plate and it was delicious. Afterwards, we got the Palak Paneer (spinach and Indian cheese- my go-to dish whenever I eat Indian food )an eggplant dish, and a lamb dish. The flavors in the eggplant dish were good but the other two were a bit bland. The big issue we had with it was that it was swimming in grease. It was all over our plates as we ate. It was a bit much. On top of that, it was a bit pricey. But it did feel a little upscale. I hope to give it another chance in the future. read more

I went to Mirchi Massala on Saturday for the lunch buffet ($25/person) [pricing may be different on the weekdays, I did not ask]. I thoroughly enjoyed the food. There were 6 different meat options (butter chicken, chicken curry, tandoori chicken, goat curry, chili chicken, and a ground meat with potato dish that I didn't catch the name of) as well as roughly 6 vegetarian options. I tried to get a little of everything and was not disappointed with the food. There were varying spice levels throughout and each dish was seasoned well (in my opinion). I felt that the quality/seasoning of the food was supported by the price. The offered variety was great! I had rice pudding for dessert and enjoyed the flavors that were presented; not overtly sweet and had a good mix of spices present. Dirty dishes were quickly taken away and everyone I talked to was friendly. If I had any suggestions, it would to perhaps leave a pitcher of water out on the table for easy refills. BUT NOOOO, my ass wanna be spontaneous today and just go out the box. I asked them to suggest me something good, they recommended something with fruits and nuts and it seemed off putting to me but they assured me it was tasty.. i didn't wanan do it cus I was afraid if I didn't like it then it would be a waste and I'd still be hungry. So their second suggestion was the goat curry. I was afraid of it being gamey.. he assured me no. Then I asked for it to be extra spicy. Ordered a green chili naan and garlic one on the side. Left to grab Starbucks since it's in the same plaza.. came back waited a lil and seen my food was ready. Went in to grab it and they told me they gave me complimentary side of basmati rice. Alright bet! Went home eager AF to try the food. I seen they even packed me some plates! Very nice. I tried the curry and it was straight. A hint of spice, not really spicy like I asked. not gon hold them cus all Indian places I been to done that to me. Tried the meat and dammit! Visiting town and just had dinner here with relatives. Started off with the Chhole Bhature and the Bread Pakoda. Then had the Garlic Naan with the Vegetable Biryani along with the Tandoori Chicken Tikka Kebab, Lamb Korma, and the Palak Paneer. Everything hit the spot. It was hard to choose a favorite from what I tried since everything was delicious, but the Bread Pakoda was the best since I've never had it before and the sauces complimented them well. Lunch buffet on a Sunday afternoon. Good variety, fresh, filling, not too heavy on butter or fillers as I ate more food than I normally do at other Indian restaurants. That tells you it's made with clean and fresh ingredients. They made fresh naans to order with the buffet (tandoori roti, garlic naan, regular naan and chilli naan)! Stopped by as I was running errands in a neighboring store because it smelled amazing, figured I'd go in for a small serving of butter chicken since it was lunch time. They let me they had a buffet so I went for it. Don't regret my decision one bit! Hospitality was so welcoming from the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out. Food was delicious!
