I've been coming to Asparagus for years. This was my favorite Thai place, and I drive a distance to get to the restaurant. However, this restaurant has drastically slipped. I went last night and was totally dissatisfied. Service was very slow. I had to go to the front and ask when we would be served. I began by ordering an appetizer of spring rolls. The rolls were delicious, but the sweet and sour sauce was very spicy. I asked about sauce that wasn't spicy, and the server said the only sauce that wasn't spicy was soy sauce. I was really surprised because in the past, the sweet and sour sauce wasn't spicy. I was also surprised because most restaurants generally notify you if food is spicy due to certain health conditions, and often will have an alternative sweet and sour sauce that's not spicy. I then received my entree of pad see ew. It was sitting in so much soy sauce it looked like gravy. Of course this made the dish extremely salty. I tried using some of the spicy sweet and sour sauce to balance out the salt, but it didn't work. Again, due to health conditions, what kind of cook makes a dish that salty??? My friend's dish was salty also, and she suggested that I shake the noodles before eating. I shouldn't have to shake a $50. meal before eating. Wow. Wow. Super fresh super good. I like the ambiance, the pho was excellent. I think the service was a little iffy in that we went periods of waiting a little longer than one should expect whether to order, get water or get the bill. Far from a deal breaker though. There is nothing bland about this place. Everything I've tried is very seasoned and tasty. Be prepared for large portions for the entrees--great for splitting with others. Their Vietnamese spring rolls come with a very tasty peanut sauce--it's viscosity is perfect. It's unique in the sense that it's not like a traditional peanut sauce, it has more spice and dimension. The chicken satay is great too. Grilled chicken on sewers and tender and flavorful with a sauce to put over top. This restaurant has Asian style food but with a flare. Can't go wrong with their shrimp fried rice, almost has a sweetness to it but not overwhelming. There's a good balance. Overall cleanliness, lighting, space, etc is also up to par. Staff is cordial. We were seated and served food almost immediately. Maybe waited 10 minutes for our small plates and 20 for our entrees. read more

I have been to this place before and I am a creature of habit. I usually order the same thing once I find my dish. This time I tried something new. I asked my server what all could be made vegan. She said almost anything on the menu could be made vegan. I was ecstatic! I tried this hot and spicy dish that was made vegan added tofu to it. The time spent as Asparagus was just a wonderful experience!! Our server Brittanie was amazing, she took our parties order of sixteen without writing down anything and got everyone's order correct. This place is a freaking gem. My husband got the Tom Yum soup and Masaman curry and I got the asparagus and crab soup and almond beef and we were blown away. My mom and I had a very lovely experience dining here for lunch. Mom got one of their soups which was delicious and I got the pad Thai which was great. One thing to note: the Pad Thai portion is huge, easily enough to feed 3-4 people, so keep that in mind if you do order that. The service was great as well! read more

A solid 3, but certainly not 4. Great, attentive service, easy to be seated. But the food was average. Tempura beans were fine, but the batter is a bit heavy, more like fried than tempura. The gingery sauce and wasabi were great. Both the Mussaman curry and Seafood Penang were very generous portions. In fact the accompanying small bowl of rice was not enough. Very upscale place for Thai food. The prices are hefty but the portions are plentiful. Stopped in for dinner and ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and catfish curry to split. The noodles arrived and our jaws dropped-- probably the biggest plate of noodles I've ever seen. The flavor was quite good and there were tons of veggies, including-- you guessed it!-- asparagus. My only complaint with it was we forgot to specify how hot to make the noodles, and the default must have been mild. Thus it really really needed heat. The curry (which I DID remember to request to be spicy) had more heat than the noodles, but still not much. However, the broth of the curry was excellent, the green beans and peppers were plentiful and tender, and the fish itself was nicely crisped. It was a tad "fishy" for my liking and the fried basil was mostly just greasy and flavorless crunch, but overall it was tasty. We tried our best to finish but both went home to leftovers. I ordered a Thai tea for dessert which was sort of bitter but still hit the spot. Again, pretty pricey for Thai food ($56 for two entrees and a tea!) but good flavor and enormous portions. Tl;dr: if you like-a da spicy, make-a sure you tell them or NO SPICE FOR YOU on you tasty food! read more

As expected most everything was really delicious. We have been going to Asparagus for years. I have only 2 minor complaints. Don't like the bread given with the duo cargot. I think it's slices of a premade frozen garlic bread? What would be better is if they made fresh toasted slices from a fresh baguette. Also my husband had the grilled flank steak, he said the meat was tender. It came with mashed potatoes and mushrooms and a nicely flavored sauce. The problem was it was swimming in the sauce. The wait staff should warn the diner of this and give the option of light on the sauce or even on the side. The mash potatoes were mush by the time he got to them under everything. The flavors of everything is really good. My usual order of curried crispy catfish did not disappoint. The bar area is a great place to sit. read more

Date night with my husband. It's been awhile since we've been here, so we decided to revisit. The menu has changed a little, which is always a good thing. I love the Asian-French fusion they have going on in their food. So good! The bar is fully stocked with various multiple liquors. The drink menu has many wonderful cocktails. The ambience is low key and can be romantic, depending on the situation. We didn't order any appetizers, as we just sat and enjoyed one another's company and a couple of drinks. Consistently great food and excellent service defines this gem tucked off interstate 65. The atmosphere is calming, yet not awkwardly quiet. This trip led me to order up different fare, making my way around the menu. For starters, the Seafood Crispy Rolls are simply good! The scallops, lobster, crab, and shrimp were cooked perfectly and blended quite well in the spring roll. These were miles ahead of the Thai Egg Rolls stuffed with chicken. The Shiitake Duck and Shrimp was delicious. This duck was moist and seasoned well. Although the sauce was a tad bit too sweet for me, the rice and veggies helped to reduce that. As for the desserts, I wanted to try most of them but landed my finger on the Apple Crisp. I'm glad they pulled back on the sugar to allow the apples to do most of the work. The caramel tasted like caramel and not sugar. The whole peanuts and cashews were a nice surprise to the crisp. The service was excellent! This was our first time trying Asparagus. We wanted to go somewhere new for our Anniversary and we picked Asparagus due to their reviews. We were NOT disappointed . Our server was Samantha and she was fantastic. She gave us some awesome recommendations. There were a few items I saw on their website menu that were not on the inperson menu and Samantha was able to get those items made for us even though they weren't on the menu for the night. My husband had the Seafood Clay Pot and I had the Pad Thai Chicken. We both agreed the meals were delicious and there was soooo much food. Definitely worth the price.
