I scheduled for a denture repair, a repair only. No need for X-rays or the other fluff. Broke a tooth off on a set of dentures made by aspen dental. To start my day I leave an hour before appointment. Address on website sends you clear across town, now I'm pushing late. Call to information office what had transpired seeing I don't live in Barre nor go there much. While on phone I'm constantly interrupted by whomever answered the phone. I arrive obviously late due to poor address on website. No worries, I have blocked hours of time just incase it is needed. I get called back and now they want X-rays to check arch. Again I'm here for a broken tooth on dentures that fit like they are made for me, they were. No need for an X-ray because I want to know if a repair can be done and if these are under warranty, received them in 2019, so maybe pushing it. I am two months post stroke, so anything being shot at brain, especially near my brain is going to be a NO. Front end service needs major improvement and dental assistant is lacking in many areas. Do not go to any Aspen Dental - check out Better Business Bureau for more complaints about them scamming people, tricking them into thinking they need deep cleanings then charging outrageous prices. I only went here for an emergency, had abscessed tooth and could not get in anywhere else quickly. Diagnosed me with periodontal disease and quoted over $3,000 for deep cleanings. Said they could not treat my abscessed tooth until after the deep cleanings. I did not even consider doing it. Instead, got second opinion, and like other complaints, found out I do not have periodontal disease. The real dentist said I do need deep cleaning in two specific areas and two fillings. Called to schedule my follow up care and had a simple question about the billing of my previous cleaning, and was put through to the office manager (I didn't know it was the office manager at the time I was connected). I was calm and complacent during the whole call, never raised my voice. The office manager talked down to me from the very start of the call. I was not upset with the charges on my account and was just looking to understand where the credit I received came from. The office manager kept interrupting me, would not give me a chance to clarify what I was confused about, and even said at one point "You're upsetting me."...Excuse me? The customer who is being level-headed with you is upsetting the office manager of the business with some simple questions? I was speechless (literally). I expressed, calmly, that they have been rude the entire phone call and it was not a good experience and if they had a manager I could speak to, which is when they informed me they were the manager...once again, speechless. She advised me there was no one else that I can speak to but she would forward the request to her manager and that they would outreach to me in 1-2 days and that she takes criticism really well, all while proceeding to interrupt and talk over me. Other than the office manager, all of the dental staff were super nice and welcoming, absolutely no issues with their service. The only issue is the terrible office manager who needs a reality check. I can't imagine how she treats customers with the slightest visual or hearing impairment, she probably gets really upset if they are hard of hearing. read more

I went to establish care, thinking I was getting a cleaning. My last cleaning was about a year ago and I never have any issues with my teeth. Well, at my appointment here yesterday I didn't even get my teeth cleaned after waiting for 45 minutes in the exam room. The dentist came in, looked at my teeth, and told me I needed 4 fillings. It seemed weird to me that I would suddenly have 4 cavities after only a year and only ever having had one cavity in my entire life. I felt like they were trying to upsell me on services I don't need, not to mention that I would have to come back twice for the fillings. The folks were nice but I feel like their business model is based on upselling and I will be seeking a second opinion before getting any work done....and a cleaning. read more

Today's visit at Aspen Dental Berlin in Barre, Vermont began as an overall great dental experience. The medical staff at this location including the dental assistant, dental hygienist and dentist were superb. It was evident that they care about their patients and the work they are doing for their community. However, this experience was soured when encountering the Office Manager and Regional Manager. This Aspen Dental location uses high pressure sales techniques and unethical billing practices. They will attempt to charge you and your insurance company for items and services that were never agreed upon nor even rendered! When questioned they become defensive, condescending and dismissive. Mr. Fontana I have always prided myself on taking care of my teeth so when the Barre/ Berlin VT agreed to see me after a short trip to Florida I was grateful. My tooth started to ache on January 24th while in Florida. It was unbearable. On my way home from the NH airport to VT I phoned Aspen Dental on January 30th. I was given an appointment for the next morning. I was told that the first appointment was free. I was told by the doctor there that I needed a crown and root canal on the painful tooth. Other work was also planned. I left knowing an antibiotic was being called into my pharmacy. I paid my bill in full that day. I had to ask for it. No other paperwork was given to me. No other instructions. I started the antibiotic that day. Nothing touch the tooth pain that your employee assured me the antibiotic would. I called on Friday, February 3rd to discuss this. I received a complete dressing down from "Bianca" and was told that I should have called the day before. She said " no doctors in on Friday and did I know what that meant?" I said " certainly do". She said call back on Monday. Bianca is a very snarky mean spirited person. I observed that in her interactions with other customers. By Saturday February 4th I am running a temperature of 103.5. I am very ill. I was taken to the ER for almost 4 hrs. I was lucky that I got to go home but would have been fine with being admitted. At the ER I had many blood tests which showed elevated white cell counts, high temperature, blood pressure and heart rate. I also had a heart monitor placed, CT scans, Xrays and other tests. I did not have covid or the flu. In the end the only definitive infection found in my body was my tooth. I was instructed by the ER to contact Aspen Dental first thing Monday. I left them a message yesterday. They didn't phone me. I called over an hr ago and was told they couldn't help me. So I fired Aspen Dental. Finding emergency dental care in this small state has proved to be hard. Those I called were appalled but had no openings for months. I listened to your messages about your goals as a healthcare provider. I have read your mission statement. I have read many reviews left by people who have unacceptable experiences with Aspen. Vermont is a small state. This retired Attorney expected to be treated with dignity. Aspen Dental's one and only appointment needs to be free per your employees. My money needs to be refunded in 3 days. No money should be taken from my insurance company. Let us hope that someone sees me soon. Sepsis is a real concern. I am hoping you assist in this. I wish I had read the reviews here before submitting to torture.... The concept of having a "meet your mouth" visit is very good. The hygienist preformed a gum test, for which I was given good marks, that left my gums swollen and stinging for a week. The worst part was navigating their sales pitch...which items on the invoice are necessary and which are up-sell items. The hygienist "prescribed" a mouthwash ($30), a electric toothbrush ($130) and a toothpaste ($200). As far as I know dental hygienist do not have the capacity to prescribe anything. They can suggest, but prescribe? With this practice, how can I trust if I really need a procedure done or not? read more

I went here thinking I would be establishing care as a new Patient and also getting a cleaning on the same day. That is what I am used to. This place does not do that. You will make an appointment and as a new patient you will wait 2-3 months to "establish care". Then you will have to make a separate appointment for cleaning and then wait another 2 months. I went to Aspen Dental, and I felt like I was in a chicken processing plant...not a humane experience, just going through proceedures as fast as humanly possible. I needed a root canal, and I found a dentist and asked to have my x-rays forwarded. After a big runaround about paperwork to allow this, they told me it would take over two weeks to do because they send records through their HR department. Really. Avoid at all costs. went here 9 month ago for a tooth hurting. X-ray that tooth only. Looked great. They said I must need a deep scaling in that tooth only. When I make the appointment Heather tells me the cost will be all of my insurance and I would owe $135. My insurance was $1000. I was appalled but needed to have the work done. She asked for payment of $135 then, before I even scheduled. I said if I found someone who would do it for less, I want my money back, and she was okay with that. I did find a local dentist who did a thorough check, full x-ray, and found a cavity. Schedule $480 scaling of one tooth and cleaning the rest, but found out my insurance did not cover this dentist. When I tried to get my money back from Aspen they would not return my call. I had to get it back through the credit care company, one month later. By now the tooth was no longer a problem with water pick cleaning. I could not find any dentist so 9 months later went back to Aspen for a loose filling. Office manager different. Looked at file. After fixing filling, scaling would cost $580 and $116 to me. I asked how many teeth would be scaled. She said she did not know and the dentist would figure it out at my appointment with test, but most likely all teeth would be scaled! Went next day for filling and asked dentist about scaling. He said she had no right to bill when we did not know what would need to be done. I told him for a year I had no pain and only wanted a cleaning. He denied me a cleaning and wanted to do some big test to see if I needed a scaling. Crazy! Quoting hefty price (but less hefty then 9 months ago) for work not needed? Not assessed? Charging for work before finding out what was needed! I will report them to whoever oversees dentists in out stated of VT. Crazy. And yes, office manager I know you are ever so sorry. read more

Aspen dental. I call make An appointment for a painfully tooth and pull. Appointment in 2 days which I was surprised but got. Day before the appointment they call while I'm sleeping from working late..3 times she said if I don't call they'll cancel. I call back and ask whats so important for information that was so important I was threatened with cancelation.The same rude women is the same that answered. She says they cannot guarantee my pull tomorrow.which was the whole point of this visit!! It's an appointment to secure me as a client. By now I just laughed and said okay it's getting clearer now! (Money) so I said how much is the visit? It's 289$ and will have to reschedule another one after that for the actual pull. We'll needless to say after the rude staff on the phone and basically being conned foe an appointment to not to do anything, especially on the appointment set up I said I was all set and will go elsewhere. No recommendations here and they should hire some other secretary besides "bailey".She should go work the fast food industry not a dental office! All bad reviews except one.which is anonymous! I went in for free x-rays and checkup, they suggested that I had upper and lower teeth pulled on both left and right sides and be fitted for partial dentures.I was than told I would how much the bill would cost,they told me they could help me apply for for financial assistance with Healthcare finance direct( the financial institution that they work with.I told them I was on disability and had a limited income and the person I was working with assured me that healthcaredirectfinance would contact me before they took any funds out of my account.A month later I found out they had taken funds out of my account without my knowledge( this happened twice) this happened for two months with me calling Aspen dental and the offices of Healthcaredirectfinancial getting multiple excuses( I found out at one point that Aspen dental had fallen victim to a cyber attack nationwide,over 1 thousand locations.I was finally reimbursed all the funds that were taken out of my account today( 6/28/2023 after a two month battle, I don't care if Aspen dental is the last dentist in the world I will let my teeth fall out before I go to them read more

Overall my experience with Aspen Dental in Barre VT. had been pleasant. Most of the staff were considerate and professional. That is, until I was assigned Ilya Kvartin, DMD, for fillings. His demeanor and attitude from his introduction, was unprofessional and condescending, so much so, that after he administered the anesthetic, but before he began my fillings, I got up from the chair and left. There was no way that man was drilling my teeth after his condescending, sneering attitude toward my reaction to the pain of the anesthetic he administered and the gall of him asking, coldly. "Haven't you ever had an anesthetic before?" Rather than showing some sympathy and compassion for my discomfort. I've spent the last 4 years going to the Barre Aspen dental . Poor poor management. I've spent around 6000.00 there due to having no insurance and heard of the financing they had . In the last 2 years the experience gets worse and worse . In the last 6 mouths I've had a repeat scenario. I'm called to get an appt . Since I recently purchased insurance I was not clear to what I would need to pay out of pocket . I was told my cleanings were covered . I drove 40 minutes to this appt , and upon arriving am told I would need to pay 381.00 . They would not see me unless I paid . This was the 3rd time this exact scenario has happened in the last year . Professional run offices of any medical needs should always let the patient know ahead of time what will be expected at the appt . They would not see me AGAIN unless I had the money upfront. This would have been ok had the conversation happened prior to the appt . I asked to speak to the practice manager . Conveniently she's "on vacation" . I asked her name and was told she could not give it to me ... ????? Wait , I can't know the practice managers name ?? Ok .. when will she be back from "vacation" . I was told " I'm not sure" Clearly complete breakdown in communication. Complete unprofessionalism . After giving them 6000.00 over the last few years I finally made the break and walked out today . Overall, I was very happy with my visit. I was able to schedule an appointment online as a new patient, and all of the paperwork was online, so I was able to complete it ahead of time. The staff was courteous and thorough. The only downside is that I had to wait quite a while to check out, but they were down a staff member, so I'm hoping that will be better next time. Based on what I'd heard via word of mouth, I was expected them to recommend lots of costly and unnecessary dental work. The only thing the dentist asked is if I am interested in Invisiline, but he did not push this when I said no. I show up, get x-rays, and then they inform me *after* the x-rays that they don't have a dental hygienist to perform teeth cleaning for another 3 months. My parents never taught us good oral hygeine so my first visit to a dentist was when I was 21. I saved a long time to get my teeth fixed, Aspen Dental charged me over $7000.00 and my smile is worse then it was before. My smile was my one insecurity and they were horrible. I paid to $600 to have my teeth scaled and cleaned. I only got one side done. They pulled teeth but left teeth that should have been pulled. One of these teeth has been bothering me a long time and had a black filling from 1983! I paid for fillings to get done but never did. One tooth actually broke the whole bottom off so I have a tooth with a hole to the nerve! I paid to have a chip in my front tooth fixed and it is not done. My partials do not fit, they fall out and I had no input as to what teeth were coming out. I was told it is up to the dentist. I could add more but I think you get my point. They are horrible. They charged me well over 400 dollars for a simple cleaning , exam and flouride and then told me that with my card I would owe 95.00 which I paid in full and went on my way. I came from one of the most expensive states in the US and I was NEVER charged that much for routine dental care. I asked them to email me an invoice and they never did. A month later I receive a call from a billing office in NY stating that I owe another 161.00. I thought that was odd because 95.00 was what I usually paid to previous providers and I never received a bill. I then recieved a call from someone from the Berlin office explaining how they came up with a discounted total of 256.00 for my serviced. Funny but but that's what the usual charge is without the discount. So apparently they jack up their prices so they can collect the full amount. I told them that's extortion and she hung up . I gave her my address so that I could get an invoice and an actual bill to send the the corporate office. Their office is rude, their website is misleading and their billing practices are sneaky and slimy. I will never co back there and make sure I never recommend them to anyone! read more

I've had an appointment w Aspen Dental for a couple months. I got an email from them a few days ago wanting confirmation, and I replied confirming my appointment. I got a call this morning, the day of my appointment, with a voicemail from a Sarah who works there confirming my appointment. When I got there they said since I hadn't called back they had to cancel my appointment. When I said I'd confirmed on their site, they said they had been having problems w that system. When I said the person who called me hadn't instructed to call back but gave the impression they were simply confirming w me, the person at the front desk said "well I didn't call you." This person also said they haven't had a hygienist for the last 3 months so even if I had called back to confirm they couldn't have done a cleaning, which is what I was there for. I took time off of work to do this, and followed their rules to a T. About as bad, frustrating and time wasting an experience as one can have. But their bathroom worked so at least I could pee before driving all the way back home. So they do get 1 star for that. read more

I came to aspen for a "new patient" appointment. I travelled an hour and a half just to get to a dentist who would do financing for the work I need. I showed up 10 minutes early to fill paper work out and then I waited. I saw the lobby fill up twice while I was their and did not get seen. After an HOUR of waiting the receptionist proceeded to tell me that it would be a bit longer as they were tending to other people. At that point I told her I wanted to reschedule just trying to keep my cool. When In reality I would not go back. Just the fact that my first visit went like that leaves me worried about everything else being done at that office. I would recommend going to any other aspen dental other than this one. To add on top of that the lady "Bianca" that sits behind the receptionist is extremely short and everyone their seems annoyed by the presence of a patient even one in excruciating facial pain like myself. read more

I called the Berlin, VT location looking for an emergency extraction for my son whose gums are swollen and has pain into his ear. I spoke with Kalie who stated she could get him in with the Oral Surgeon the next day in the afternoon just needed the XRays from his dentist. I called his dentist, they sent the XRays over. Kalie stated several times that she hadn't received the XRays, his dentist affirmed they sent them. Kalie then said she'd have no problem with charging me to have XRays done there so she could have the surgeon look them over. Its 2hrs away but I decided to try to go, unfortunately it was freezing rain and we got held up behind an accident. I emailed Kalie several times with no response. Called this morning she said she never got the XRays and because I didn't show up yesterday she had to give the appt to someone else for today. My dentist called her and she told them she did get the XRays but that I hadn't showed up for the consult that is required prior to seeing the Oral Surgeon - WHICH SHE NEVER SAID. Communication is key in a lot of situations, I'd think hers would have been better but because of her lack of communication and continuing to tell me she never received XRays that apparently she did receive she just wanted us to pay for more apparently. Very disappointing experience and very disappointing that my Son is in continued pain while we try to find someone to extract his tooth. read more

I went back for a second filling... wasn't my first appointment, and they were adequate before, so I went back. I had a different dentist. I knew as he was doing the work it wasn't being done correctly (yeah, I've had fillings before). I could tell the tooth wasn't cleaned out sufficiently and prepped, or packed with filling adequately. I even tried to tell him, I could feel gaps in between the filling and my tooth, and ragged ridges where it met... he didn't listen and never bothered to even checked. A month later, the filling fell out. Biggest ripoff artists in town with a bunch of cut rate dentists. Bad enough for me to actually rate them.... twice. read more

I went to Aspen Dental in Williston, VT. Was promised satisfaction with my new dentures or told they would replace or give a refund.. all lies! My dentures (lowers) were finished in October 2017 they were badly fitted and caused pain before I even left but was told to "give them a chance" and that I would get used to them (I had had a partial before these so was familiar with the feel and way they should fit).So I went home and had to remove them because they fit so badly my mouth was bleeding where they hit. When I called to make an appointment to adjust them it was a two week wait. I could not wear them during that time as it was too painful so I put them in for the sixty mile ride back to them and when I removed them my mouth was again bleeding it was another two weeks before they could be adjusted Again! This went on for 2 months and then I told the dentist I wanted a refund he told me I had a lot of time as the "permanent" liners were not yet in the plate...we would talk about a refund if I did not like them once the teeth had a permanent liner and were considered finished and fitted. At this point I still could not wear them to eat with they were only worn when I went out in public. I called the office and spoke to the office manager who quickly told me the 90 day guarantee period has gone by so too bad for me. It is now March 2019 and I still can not wear them without pain and bleeding gums. Save your money, time and pain. If you live in Vermont go to Champlain Dental in the Blue Mall, they made my partial plate and it worked great. Wish I had it to do over again that is where I would go (my dentist there had semi-retired)... Called for a cleaning and x-rays after spending 3,000 dollars at the aspen in Williston. They did the x-rays and said see you in 6 months. No cleaning or anything that should have been done. Appointments was at 11 was finally taken in at 11:45 and their was no one in the waiting room. All around it is the worst dentist I have ever been to! read more
