The only reason I stay at this dental office is because of the hygienist, Inez. I also find the front desk staff wonderful. However, Dr. Chikersal has been pushing me for aligners in my last two cleanings even though I have had braces twice wear my retainer every night with completely straight teeth. There is only one tiny spot that she says is "overcrowding" and says that aligners will held with this along with gum recession. I have had two different outside opinions who say I am not a good candidate for aligners and that aligners will do more harm than good. When I declined aligners she randomly states that I have TMJ. I have never been told I have TMJ on my life...yet she waited until I declined aligners to give me a new diagnosis? I found it completely unprofessional and I felt so mad afterwards that this was never brought up before. I am currently on the hunt for a new dentist because I don't fully trust Dr. Chickersal. read more

Terrible evil place I equate this place to a mechanic that wants to take you for all the money you have. Came in with severe tooth pain unable to speak or even walk they told me I needed to get three root canals that day. I told them I can't afford it. They said pick the one that is in the most pain. (I was in so much pain that there was no way to tell where it was coming from). When they quoted me for one root canal it was $5,600. I could have lost $16,800 that day. When I said can you just pull it they quoted me at $1,600. I told them no and they offered me nothing but a half day doctors note for work. A dentist who offers a root canal in the same day is NOT looking out for you. You NEED a round of antibiotics or you can suffer from serious complications. Don't let them destroy your life. I know a lot of people out here are working with no insurance just like me but there are safer better options. Ask your friends and family about their dental experience and you will find a much better option. read more

I've been going to this location for 10-11 years. I bought top of the line lower plate dentures six months ago. They've become very loose, and I went in today to get them adjusted, they wanted to charge me $212.00 for a hard reline. Has the dentures been at least a year, I would've had no objection, but after spending in excess of $2,000 for them just six months ago, I'm not happy. So I left. I'll have the relining done elsewhere. What they also lost is the $2000 I planned to spend to replace my upper plate dentures I got there several years ago in March or April, so they've lost that future business. I have no problems with the staff there, but Aspen as a company has gotten less customer friendly. In the upper plate I bought several years ago, they did a hard relining at no cost to me when they were about nine months old. Caveat emptor. I'm only giving as much as two stars because of the great staff, excluding the business office. read more

Chikersal is the most unprofessional, unskilled, disrespectful Doctor I've ever come across. Don't let her anywhere near your teeth if it has to do with clear aligners! All she cares about is getting you through the door to commit to treatment and couldn't care less about the finals results initially promised. I went in because I was having difficulty chewing my food because of how my teeth were positioned and Dr. Chikersal suggested I get aligners as it would fix my issues with chewing as well as correcting my crowded teeth. Over a year later I'm still having difficulty chewing my food and last time I brought it up she just flat out said that's the best she could do without even examining my teeth to see what else could be done. My teeth are left with triangle gaps I never had prior to clear aligners. One of my back tooth shifted to a position it shouldn't have. She gave me all the cons why I shouldn't go for the third treatment as it would do more harm than good. My teeth are also having a lot more plaque than they used to. I got my teeth scanned for retainers replacement and three weeks later I went in to pick them up after never receiving a call from them. Upon arrival, the young lady told me that the computer is showing that I've already picked them up. Dr. Chikersal came out to confirm what the young lady told and that she was also the one who signed off on the pick up that never happened. Somehow they had me down for a pick up on the same date I had my scan done which is a major screw up and the Dr. was ready to dismiss me and go on about her business because they apparently couldn't have been wrong. The order was never placed and I had to wait another 2 weeks before I can get my retainers. Dr. Chikersal told me she doesn't owe me an explanation as to why they screwed up on my order so badly. She then asked me to leave the room because she had nothing else to talk to me about. She walked me to front and as I was talking to her telling her about disrespectful self, she walked away from me and never came back. No apologies, no explanation. The dis function from this dental office obviously comes from the top down. No paying customer should ever be treated like Dr. Chikersal treated me. STAY AWAY FROM DR. CHICKERSAL!!! Long time yelper who rarely writes reviews, but I feel like I should share my experience. I've been coming to this Aspen Dental for probably 10 years. I would say the dental professionals are okay, but the office team is terrible. I used to shrug it off because of its location convenient to me, but likely I will seek another office. Because every visit leaves me feeling like as if they tried as best as they can to try to extract as much money out of me as possible. Between pressuring me to pay to reserve an appointment (which to be fair seems to be standard practice with other firms, but no less unacceptable), to frequently trying to charge for services that are fully covered by insurance. They claim it is part of the deductible, or its only partially covered by dental insurance. Neither is true and I have to correct them every time. It is understandable if its once or twice, but every time? Each of my visits is for a regular cleaning (nothing else, not even fluoride, and it is 100% covered by insurance as it is preventive treatment), and each time they ask me to pay for something different. Either the office staff is very incompetent or very money grubbing, pick one. I'm tired of being fleeced. read more

LET THE BUYER BEWARE! BAIT AND SWITCH SCAM! I lost a tooth in my dentures. My dentist just retired so I was also looking for another dentist. I went online to see if there was a lab who could re-glue the tooth in the mean time. Aspen Dental had an ad on their site that said on-site walk in denture repairs for $49.00. I told them my insurance was used up for the year and would renew in January and that i just wanted the tooth glued back on the denture. I spoke to them several times over the phone about my situation and they said no problem. Just come by and they would re-glue my tooth. When I arrived, they told me that I would need a complete set of X-rays before they could re-glue my tooth that would cost me $300.00! They refused to do my easy, quick denture repair unless they took a full set of X-rays. This made no sense as one was not related to another. Apparently, they would not fix my denture unless I was a fully registered patient that had a set of x-rays. They then told be that if I had brought my latest X-rays from my last dentist they might be able to help me. No mention of this in their ad or on the phone when I made extensive queries. I would have happily brought my X-rays if they had simply been honest to me over he phone! I guess I dodged a bullet! STAY AWAY! Never Again ! It is my fault to go there even after knowing they are not good.... But I never thought they would be this bad. They just wanted to squeeze every single penny out of my pocket. I visited there because my previous provider stopped accepting Delta Dental insurance. I simply wanted to do my regular dental cleaning which is covered by my insurance. I got there 15 minutes ahead of my appointment time, did all my paperwork and waited patiently for my turn. After an hour's wait, they called me and took me inside for a check up.. That place was very noisy with machinery and I could barely hear my dental tech. They did X-Ray and all, they started making background for their hefty bill. A sweet lady came and insisted that I get Invisalign plus do deep cleaning. Instead of doing my regular cleaning, she took me to their accountant, who showed me a proposed bill and a payment plan which was well north of 5K. I declined to get their Invisalign and asked for a simple cleanup, but they declined. I returned home thinking.... never again. I just don't want customers to get robbed and waste their time in this facility. read more

Awful. The Medford Aspen Dental over-book, over-promise, and under deliver. Stay clear. They will book 4 patients all in at the same appointment time with only 1 doctor on hand... and she seems incompetent, at best. Even the best doctor can not juggle 4 patients at a time and she is most definitely not the best doctor. It all seems like some money-making scheme. Your appointment will take 4x's longer than it should. I went to them thinking I could save a little money on a broken tooth that needed just a crown. They tried to tell me that I needed a "deep cleaning", (and I've heard them try to sell it to an elderly man and other patients as well). They tried to tell me that I had gum disease. My previous hygienist said nothing of the sort. They also told me that I needed a root canal on an entirely different tooth than what I went to them for. When I pointed out that the tooth had a root canal done a few months ago, they said "well, it must have failed"! I prepaid for the crown, so I went to have that finished. As they were drilling, etc, they tried to NOT give me novocaine (presumably to try to save money? I can't think of another reason). I had to practically beg for some relief... that tooth was live and never had a root canal, I was in complete agony. It was absolutely inhumane. After that experience, I went back to my old dentists office for another opinion and to look at the so-called "failed" root canal and to get a cleaning (Aspen Dental of Medford wouldn't give me one). All of the dentists, specialists and hygienists I saw disagreed and said the only thing I needed was a regular cleaning. As for the root canal? It's fine. Yet another lie by Aspen Dental. If you want to save some money on dentistry, look elsewhere; this place claims they give you value for your dollar, but that is purely lip service. I think they are actually actively trying to rip you (and your insurance company) off. I've been to other Aspen Dental offices in the past that I thought were pretty good... but not this location. I went to Aspen Dental in Dedham, and I was supposed to get a root canal. I told them that I had insurance, reputable insurance, which they refused to take. They then rushed me over to the financial department to get finance and be on a payment plan. Well, the work that they supposed have done was a botched job! 2 months later, my cap fell out of my mouth. I went to explain the situation. They wanted to charge me again for the work that they didn't properly do. Now, the financial department is hounding me to pay this ridiculous amount of money. We came here for two teeth cleaning appointments. They refused to clean and demanded X-rays. I had X-rays recently since I moved from out of town. I offered to forward my X-rays via email. Even then they still refused to do the cleaning. They did X-rays for my husband but no cleaning! Then they wanted to rip out all of his (perfectly fine) fillings and charge for new ones (he is young and the fillings are recent so this on top of refusing cleaning felt like a complete scam). Then they said they would not provide cleaning for 8 months! Felt like a scam to me. read more

Don't do it. Don't do it. Don't do it. Literally one of the worst dental/medical and customer service experiences of my life. They won't schedule your appointment until you pay at least 60% of your bill. I paid in full (about 5,000) and scheduled my procedure. I got there and was told I needed to pay almost another 2,000. This turned out to be a mistake, but I didn't learn that until later. It was...distressing. But I was whisked back to start my treatment. While being treated the equipment broke and I had to be moved. Then one of the people from billing and to talk to me while I was numbed up, prone in a chair, with metal and plastic stuff in my mouth. The Dr. had to ask her to leave. There aren't words for how vulnerable and terrified I felt. I cried. Then later the Dr. clearly hit a nerve. You know that pain if you've felt it before. When I said I was in pain she wanted to just keep going. I said we could but I'd likely scream. She said,"What do you want me to do?" She seemed to think I was making it up. It is Novocain - not morphine. I told her I felt like she was accusing me of lying (because that is how it felt!) and she said,"Don't put words in my mouth." Ummmmm? Again? I am now prone, numbed up, I have plastic and metal things in my mouth. I have paid all my money. And? She wants me to be the medical profession? She just kept arguing with me. I didn't know what to do. She asked if I wanted to reschedule. I said I'd prefer not to, but if I had to ok. She walked away and came back a few minutes later and gave me another shot of Novocain. This is a partner at this practice. She clearly does not care about patient comfort or care. I cried. She said we'd have to repeat the procedure we'd just down from the start. It became clear she was upset about the time it was taking to treat me and the cost of the Novocain. At no point EVER did anyone apologize or say sorry. It was all excuses and excuses and excuses. Here is the thing: Your a medical faculty. You've been charged with my care. You put me in very vulnerable positions (like medically, cosmetically, financially, and emotionally) and then treated me like I was somehow less than human. There was no care for my comfort. Nobody explained to procedures. I received no post-procedure care instructions. I need to complete my treatment. But if I had not paid them all of my money I would go elsewhere. I have no faith that I received quality care. Once I pay off this credit card bill I'll be going to a new dentist to have this work checked. Also? Before all this? They didn't return phone calls. They take 15 minutes on the phone to schedule an appointment. And they don't take cards over the phone, so unless you can pay on the spot...you'll have to go back to pay them before they'll schedule your appointment. read more

Don't come to this location for Invisalign service!!! The team is extremely disorganized and irresponsible. Here's what happened recently and a similar thing has already happened to me once before! I visited the office for my refinement 2-3 weeks ago and the doctor took notes and scanned my teeth. I've been waiting for my next refinement trays to arrive. Yesterday when I called to ask if my trays arrived they said yes and booked me an appointment for pick up. However, today, they called to let me know that they don't have my trays, moreover, they didn't send in dentist's note nor the scan from last visit to Invisalign at all!! Their explain was that they had a national system down. What really throw me off was that they claimed that the system broke down happened exactly after my last visit. Even if that's true, they should have at least give me a courtesy call to let me know about the situation. They didn't do any of that until I called. Now I had to visit their office to re-do the scan and have a dentist to take the notes again. It seems to me that they treat customers lightly and does not value customers' time. Very upset about my experience and this is the second time that happened to me since the beginning of my treatment!!!! Advise all to look elsewhere for getting Invisalign treatment. read more

They're awful. I went for a filling and ended up needing a crown. They contacted my insurance company and told me that I would have to pay $350 and I paid them on the spot. A few weeks later I got a bill in the mail for $1200!! I called them and they said "We'll look into and call you back". That was 3 months ago. This is one of those places where they only care about making money and not about your long term care. I went in for two chipped teeth, not only did they obsessively file my tooth down past what it should've been, it's like they painted my took with filing and left this texture you can physically see. I've already had this done before so I know what the result should've looked and felt like. Don't believe the site . Sastified or money back guarantee is a lie! It took 3 assistant and 8 tries to get my fitting for dentures and they still didn't do it properly. They kept blaming the product that it dries to quickly. We did the wax fitting they seem to be ok but when I received my permanent it was awful. They were crooked and did not fit. I explained to the head dentist i was not happy first thing she said well, we can't give you a refund!! I tries keeping an open mind went home for the weekend . After adding fixodent 5 times in one day and them having them fall out mid conversation I was horrified. Monday morning I called and asked to be seen. I walked in it was very obvious they had a prior conversation before I walked in. The same lovely female dentist walks in and said what seems to be the problem? I explained and also showed her the issue. She proceeds to tell me there's nothing we can do and NOW the issue is my mouth and the only way I can have dentures that fit me is if I get implants she said at least 3 for 3k each ! So by then my total payment was 9500 now they want 9k more for DENTURES!!!! So now I have dentures I can't wear . I wish I listened to the horror stories before I walked in to that office. Get ready to read! Went to Aspen Dental for a gum abrasion that has been scraping against my tongue after I had my wisdom tooth removed. I work from 8-4, and made arrangements to have an appointment for 8:30 when they opened and be slightly late for work. When making the appointment, they said to be 15min early to fill out new patient paperwork... Kind of hard when you don't open until 8:30. Luckily another employee showed up to work and let me in to start my paperwork. Was seated at 8:30 and they spent over an hour investigating other work needed to be done, with X-rays, and examinations. I had to explain to four separate people why I was there, so it felt as if no one communicated to one another, and really showed that they were more concerned with full treatment plans instead of the imminent cause for me being there. They spent a lot of time explaining to me all the issues with my teeth and what they felt I need to treat and take care of. By 10:30, they were running credit checks to see if I could get a payment plan for a $2,200 procedure to fix my gums in a two-session process. They ended up just charging me enough money to clear out my bank account, and I left. They also somewhat tried pushing their electric toothbrush on me during the credit application process. Over 3 hours late to work, and not happy with my experience at all. Never again. Can't wait for them to email me with their survey. Also, I saw a post from another person in 2015 who said they they seemed money hungry and inflate the prices for procedures and items needed for treatment. My teeth were extremely crooked and crowded and one year later they are so straight. I also want to give a big shout out to my hygienist Inez! She is the best! She is so gentle and friendly! I was disappointed with the Service. I was "interviewed" by a Dental Assistant and by the Office Manager, but the Dentist never showed up. I lost a filling on my front tooth on the flight from Europe to Boston. Both interviewers said that I had to have X-Rays taken and "no guarantee" that the filling will be replaced. "You need a crown!" I went to another Clinic. The Dentist met me at the door. He looked at the tooth. "We can fix that, no problem. We'll take an X-Ray to be sure you have no problems." In less than 30 minutes I was out with a new filling and a smile. Aspen Dental focused on how much money they can make. The second clinic focused on "how can we help this human being!" Aspen dental at this location are no different than bandits and thieves. After transferring Aspen Dental locations from NC to MA, this seemed like the most convenient location. They charged me $275 for a "gum examination" and x-rays that were already complete at my prior location. The doctor would not let me move forward in ordering more of my Invisalign liners/trays to complete my treatment without payment, which again, was unnecessary and redundant. Will not be recommending this practice to anyone. read more

I went to this Aspen Dental location to get some procedures with the ultimate goal to start the Invisalign process. The staff who did my procedures were professional and gentle. The office manager (Hannah) was not communicative and ultimately did not follow through on her word. She tried to charge me more for Motto and when I showed her the online price she said she was going up to her manager and NEVER got back to me. I had my first appointment here yesterday and I probably will seek help elsewhere. The staff was friendly enough, but there were several points where I felt like the person taking the pictures of my teeth didn't really know what he was doing. Then they had someone come in to measure my gums, and she told me that I had gingivitis and then left the room. The next person to come in was (I guess?) the doctor. She basically took five minutes to look at my teeth, told me I was doing "well" but that I had "a few cavities". Then she said I can head out to billing who will tell me what to do next. This is MY FAVORITE PART. When I get to billing, the woman (who was actually really nice, like mainly the reason I'm giving two stars as opposed to one) told me that we needed to schedule a cleaning and, get this, EIGHT FILLINGS. EIGHT. FILLINGS. I guess she could tell by the look on my face that this was news to me. She said, "they didn't tell you?" And I said that they told me "a few" which I assumed meant, I dunno, three? I've also never been to a dentist's office for over an hour and not gotten a cleaning? That was what I assumed I was in there for. I'm just very disappointed that the people examining me seemed to have absolutely no investment in what they were doing. They smiled and told me everything is going GREAT, and then left it up to someone else to tell me what I actually needed. That seemed wildly unprofessional and unfair to her and to me. I did my cavities filling there. However, I didn't feel uncomfortable or hurt before but my dentist said I need to do that. The result was terrible cause I felt hurt every time biting food after the cavities filling . And my dentist couldn't give a useful resolution for that! read more

This place is an absolute nightmare. I recommend for your own health to stay away. I was advised to have my wisdom teeth removed. Very little issue with them and or pain prior to this, mind you, but still was told that they should be removed. I triple checked with my insurance (I work in health insurance so I understand these things) and was told that my services would be covered in full aside from a $40 co-insurance fee. I was nervous about this procedure so I asked to be put to sleep since they do not do sedation (laughing gas); only IV sedation. They informed me that this would be a very quick and simple process and would not need the IV sedation. Novacaine would be just fine. Well, boy did I regret this decision. They could no extract my teeth. The procedure was long and the novacaine wore off and I could feel the nerves and everything in the base of my mouth. I was crying throughout the last 30 minutes. They finally stopped and told me I was not allowed to have any more novacaine as I reached my cap. They left my two bottom teeth in there, loose and all! I could wiggle them with my tongue! I left there so shaken up and in pain. 12 hours later, I had 103 degree fever and infection took over. I was literally halluncinating from my fever. I had to take 2 vidocin every hour not to mention antibiotics. Of course I did not return, but was billed an outrageous $510 dollars. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. This is the worst place to go the receptionist is very unprofessional she spoke to me in a way that is very disrespectful my husband wanted to cancel an appointment I called and I talked to the receptionist to cancel I understand HIPAA rules and everything but for her to speak to me and say if I'm his MOTHER instead of her saying are you related to this person and we could take it from there as a professional person she could have said that but she didn't she SAID ARE YOU HIS mother and I told her excuse me why would you think that I'm his mother? and she said because he is 34 years old and he can make his own decisions and he's considered an adult I cannot believe that she spoke to me like this ? ! I told her no I am his wife she said well if you wants to call and cancel he could do it himself she didn't even care TO apologized I had to go on the phone and speak to the supervisor I told him about the complaint and they said that they are sorry for her actions and that they're going to speak to her about this mypoints in this is the receptionist that work there they should have handled it in a different way she could have just handle it in a professional way this is the worst place I ever been I never have spoken let somebody speak to me this way and we will no longer be patients for this place ever again read more
