We came in pretty late on a Sunday night, and it was such a great experience. Our server was Jacob, and let me just say off the bat that he was such a bright light of a person, an amazing server, and the kind of human the world needs more of. On top of that, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We particularly loved the Thai shrimp appetizer and the brownie (which was more like a brookie) ice cream dessert. The atmosphere was comfortable and demure, with excellent, moody ambient lighting, and an old-timey restaurant/bar vibe. We will definitely come back next time we are in town. read more

This is our GOTo for friends in town if we aren't doing prime steak. The ambience and service our great. The food is always prepared well. I like my seafood fried but not overcooked, they do it right. I also always have more food than I can eat. Check the menu online and make sure it's right for you. If so, give it a go. Wonderful dinner at Driftwood's. We seated promptly, and the server was friendly and welcoming. We had cocktails which were mixed perfectly. We both ordered the 8 oz filet mignon, with steamed veggies and baked potatoes. Our food came out quickly and was delicious. The ambiance was relaxing and comfortable. Our experience was terrible, do not recommend this restaurant anymore. Have been a local patron for 4 years. Service and quality was excellent during that time. I feel that is no longer a true statement. It took an hour to receive our food and was told an item was no longer available. Complained to the manager about the length it took to get our food and that now an item was no longer available, his was response was oh well. No apology and his attitude was did not care and very sarcastic. read more

I'm rather late in my Yelps about my most recent jaunt down to Myrtle Beach, SC but hey, here we are just the same. Now, Driftwoods Seafood & Steak is most known for both of those items in their branding but according to my family who I was visiting, they also have an amazing brunch and for Father's Day we opted to head over there directly after Sunday Mass. Driftwoods is about a 20 minute ride from their location and while we arrived just before 9AM there was already a reasonable amount of people waiting ahead of us. Once opened everyone was seated quickly and our server brought us that much needed coffee and it hit the spot. According to the Folks, Driftwood's is known for having an omelet section and you pick what you want in it and they bring it back to you. I was not going to pass this up as I enjoy making omelets when I can find time to do that and I went with cheese, mushrooms and jalapenos. Since there was assorted protein options in the larger buffet I didn't need to add one to the omelet. While I waited to did hit the buffet and selected a small amount of some of their offerings. I find it best to only take a little bit with an all you can eat buffet since that eliminates any waste. I went with some bacon, sausage, cheesy potatoes, mini pancakes and a couple of french toast sticks. With the omelet being eggs, I left the scrambled eggs for other customers. Everything was super tasty and the staff that I encountered across the board were friendly and happy to make sure you were taken care of. They were quick to clear the tables of used dishes so you could go get another and everything was done with a smile. Good hospitality is a guarantee of a return visit. Of course I'd be going home soon so that was not an option for me, but I do hope to return on the next visit. The only downside was Dad's disappointment about their not having corned beef hash this time. He got over it quick enough though and its not going to make the Yelp rating change. 10/7/25: Our party of four was quite pleased with the friendliness and attentiveness of server Ethan White. The two pieces of meatloaf were sizable and delicious. More scallops than you'd expect with the scallop dinner. Finished off the meal with Driftwoods homemade bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and whipped topping. Don't visit here without trying (or sharing) this large dessert. My family ate here for my birthday. They offer a free meal on your actual birthday with a photo ID. This a local place so we did not have to wait. Our server was awesome. All of his recommendations were spot on. They give you a smoked tuna dip and crackers when you sit down. It was tasty but the waiter suggested adding some hot sauce and made it even better. I had a mango margarita and it was very good. For my meal, I had the drunken crab platter. It was similar to a steam bucket but on a plate. They did not skimp on the seafood. The fish was moist and the shrimp were very tasty. The crab and scallops were also delicious. I enjoyed my sides of potato casserole and broccoli with beer cheese. I highly recommend these sides. For dessert, I had the key lime pie. It was nice and tart. I would come back here again. read more

This is a tale of two steaks. One was the Sirloin Marsala, and the other was the ribeye. The story begins with the special of the day, which was a choice of a sirloin steak Marrsala, flounder, or chicken. The Sirloin was chosen, with the addition of a serving of shrimp. The steak was covered in the marsala sauce, which gave the steak the flavoring. It was cooked to a proper medium rare. The shrimp were cooked pretty well and tasted good. Overall this order was pretty good. However, when we turn our attention to the other steak, the Ribeye, we end up on the other side of the same coin. This steak was ordered to be rare, and it was done perfectly. That's where the compliments end. Let's turn to the cooking itself. The side of the steak that was presented to the diner (myself) had grill marks and some decent color. However, when you flip it over and look at the other side, nothing. It was just a sad looking steak; no color or anything to let you know it was actually cooked. The next issue was with the seasoning, or lack thereof. This think tasted like there was absolutely no seasoning whatsoever. This led the steak to be just not very appetizing and a sad dissapointment. Along with the steak, I asked for a double order of sautéed onions (yeah I love sautéed onions with my steak). When it was delivered, it had a sad looking bit of onions on it, so I had to ask for another serving like I did originally. Those were brought out, and just like the steak itself, they had no seasoning to them... no salt, pepper nothing... again you lose a lot when you don't season anything. Ultimately, it was just a sad little steak, very unimpressive and rather dissapointing. Now that the story of the steaks is over, let's address the rest of the meal. They give you some crackers and a ramekin of smoked tuna. That was pretty good according to those that tried it. Each meal was ordered with onion rings, and they were actually pretty good. You also got a breadstick with your meal. That sad little thing was a single breadstick, cut on the bias and served on the plate. Once again, this was an opportunity missed. The breadstick was completely flavorless. The simple addition of melted butter and some garlic powder would have made a huge difference. Instead they take the easy way out and did nothing. Finally, let's talk about the cleanliness. The place seemed dirty. There was food and crumbs and other stuff on the floors in both the dining area and the bar area. It appears as if they do not do any cleaning during operating hours, which is unfortunate since the patrons have to look at it. The candy machine had food crumbs and hair on it that made it look like it just doesn't get cleaned at all. A little manual roller brook run through it a few times a night would go a long way to improve the ambiance. Overall, I can say that I was thoroughly dissapointed in this place. I gave it 3 stars only because one of the meals was ok, even though everything else was dissapointing. I'm pretty sure I won't be going back there. If you go, good luck... read more

The food was good when we FINALLY got it! The wait was ridiculous! We ordered my grandson's corn dog and fries when they took our drink order so he could go ahead and eat. It took 45 minutes just to get that. Bless his heart... he was starving! The all you can eat crab legs were very good. Just can't get over the crazy wait time. We would have appreciated some complimentary hush puppies or something to tide us over but they were never offered. Not a great service experience by any means! read more

We picked up takeout! Very tasty mahi mahi. Flounder was okay. The hushpuppies were the best by far. Quick and fast takeout service.

My wife and I were at Driftwood in October. We had the early-bird dinner. The wife had flounder, and I had the Creekside Shrimp. The shrimp and the flounder were good, but not outstanding. The fries were crispy and tasty. Neither of us liked the coleslaw. The hushpuppies were outstanding, and the key lime pie was quite good. Now for the best part--Value. Each of us had iced tea, our meals and a dessert for $36.67 which included a $1.00 upcharge for the flounder being broiled. This is hard to beat for a good seafood dinner with drinks and a dessert. We were there on a Wednesday evening and Driftwood was busy but there was no wait. The atmosphere is very nice, and the service was very good. read more

There wasn't a long wait and the waitress couldn't have been nicer! We sat in a booth, my family of 5. The hush puppies and shrimp appetizer were amazing but I was highly disappointed when i ordered a $15 salad and got ok salmon with not much glaze or flavoring and iceberg lettuce disguised as a salad. If it were a side salad i could see using iceberg, but an entree salad that comes out like this?! Come on! Iceberg is trash, we all know it has no nutritional value at this point. I asked for a side of veggies to make up for it and was brought out steamed, not seasoned vegetable medley of broccoli and i can't even remember what else. very disappointed, don't order this, stick to the fried options, they clearly can't handle veggies or salads. read more

We have been customers of Driftwoods for over three years now. Their food both seafood and steaks used to be better than most which is why we were repeat customers. Not anymore. The last few times my wife and I've ordered steaks from this establishment, they've been awful. The ribeye steaks are less than a half inch thick, tough, tasteless and overall very unappealing. We've never seen smaller baked potatoes in our lives and can hardly believe Driftwoods can justify their hefty prices for very much subpar food. Highly disappointed, do not recommend. I wish Driftwoods had been good. We ordered the pasta seafood, a steak and grouper with oysters and she-crab soup. My son liked his pasta and ate it all. His gf seemed less than thrilled by her ribeye and it was not impressive. My grouper sandwich was ok, except the bread was rock hard and the cole slaw was somewhat sour. Could have been the vinegar mix in it, I'm not saying it was bad, just a sour taste. The soup was not anything special. Honestly, it had a burned taste as though it was cooking at too high a temperature. I asked for tartar for my fish and extra ranch for a salad. It took the waitress some time to get these and apparently she had to go back in time to get them (see picture). Note: our visit was 6/11. It's not impressive to bring your customer condiments with dates a week in the past on them. Fortunately she brought two of each. The ones we used were undated. But the tartar was crappy anyway. Like someone took mayo, added some relish and, voila, tartar sauce. Speaking of service, it can best be described as indifferent. Every time we asked for something, which here, is going to be often, the waitress was walking away before anyone finished talking. I can't recommend this place. The BEST oysters Rockefeller I have had and the steam platter will be something I look forward too when we come back on vacation. Service was on point and welcoming. Overall, a good experience. Server took a bit to get to us but was friendly enough. He brought a small dressing sized container of smoked tuna dip and crackers. Personally, I don't care for smoked food-it smells like an ashtray. My boyfriend said it was okay, and was very smoky. We both got the fried shrimp and flounder early bird. Fries were battered and really good-crisp and hot. The flounder was good but needed more crunch on the batter. Fried shrimp were very nice-good flavor and not overly crunchy. The meal came with two hush puppies with honey butter and were nicely done, and coleslaw. The coleslaw was fresh, but had a bit of a sour taste to me. My boyfriend said it tasted like too much relish, but I didn't get that vibe. The early bird also came with nonalcoholic drink and dessert, which was a choice of key lime pie, chocolate cake, and their homemade bread pudding. The bread pudding had a rumchata and fireball sauce and was very tasty. The only issue is that a couple of bites were not mixed in the custard and tasted like raw bread; otherwise, the pudding was yummy! I didn't care for the fact that our drinks were refilled by pouring from a cup he brought to the table, but no big deal I guess. They were pretty busy for a Tuesday at 5 pm! read more

While the place was packed we waited only about 5-10 minutes to be seated. The waitstaff wasn't stellar but wasn't the worst I've had. The decor was typical. The food was pretty good and you got a lot of it. The table tried fried flounder, a mixed plate of broiled scallops, shrimp, flounder and crab legs, a hamburger steak plate and loaded fries. Everyone was happy with their meal. Not saying we are insisting on returning, but if we did everyone would be ok with it. Good prices, too. read more

This place is great. From the staff and all the friendly folks eating. Everything on the menu is served hot and very tasty. They have two locations - one in downtown Myrtle Beach and in Surfside Beach. I use to go to the original one downtown MB for lunch near my job with the State of SC. Loved it then and now since I retired the Surfside location is close to my home. Both serve excellent food. Locals can be seen along with those folks vacationing.
