Driftwoods is open and ready for customers.

I'm rather late in my Yelps about my most recent jaunt down to Myrtle Beach, SC but hey, here we are just the same. Now, Driftwoods Seafood & Steak is most known for both of those items in their branding but according to my family who I was visiting, they also have an amazing brunch and for Father's Day we opted to head over there directly after Sunday Mass. Driftwoods is about a 20 minute ride from their location and while we arrived just before 9AM there was already a reasonable amount of people waiting ahead of us. Once opened everyone was seated quickly and our server brought us that much needed coffee and it hit the spot. According to the Folks, Driftwood's is known for having an omelet section and you pick what you want in it and they bring it back to you. I was not going to pass this up as I enjoy making omelets when I can find time to do that and I went with cheese, mushrooms and jalapenos. Since there was assorted protein options in the larger buffet I didn't need to add one to the omelet. While I waited to did hit the buffet and selected a small amount of some of their offerings. I find it best to only take a little bit with an all you can eat buffet since that eliminates any waste. I went with some bacon, sausage, cheesy potatoes, mini pancakes and a couple of french toast sticks. With the omelet being eggs, I left the scrambled eggs for other customers. Everything was super tasty and the staff that I encountered across the board were friendly and happy to make sure you were taken care of. They were quick to clear the tables of used dishes so you could go get another and everything was done with a smile. Good hospitality is a guarantee of a return visit. Of course I'd be going home soon so that was not an option for me, but I do hope to return on the next visit. The only downside was Dad's disappointment about their not having corned beef hash this time. He got over it quick enough though and its not going to make the Yelp rating change. If you're down in the area give it a try, I left happy and very full. Nice work Driftwoods. Keep it up.

10/7/25: Our party of four was quite pleased with the friendliness and attentiveness of server Ethan White. The two pieces of meatloaf were sizable and delicious. More scallops than you'd expect with the scallop dinner. Finished off the meal with Driftwoods homemade bread pudding with vanilla ice cream and whipped topping. Don't visit here without trying (or sharing) this large dessert. Our friends frequent Driftwoods so we tried it at their urging and left happyand full. - Laura & Mark VanValkenburg, The Bluffs on the Waterway, Myrtle Beach.

My family ate here for my birthday. They offer a free meal on your actual birthday with a photo ID. This a local place so we did not have to wait. Our server was awesome. All of his recommendations were spot on. They give you a smoked tuna dip and crackers when you sit down. It was tasty but the waiter suggested adding some hot sauce and made it even better. I had a mango margarita and it was very good. For my meal, I had the drunken crab platter. It was similar to a steam bucket but on a plate. They did not skimp on the seafood. The fish was moist and the shrimp were very tasty. The crab and scallops were also delicious. I enjoyed my sides of potato casserole and broccoli with beer cheese. I highly recommend these sides. For dessert, I had the key lime pie. It was nice and tart. I would come back here again.

    Bread Pudding with meal!

We picked up takeout! Very tasty mahi mahi. Flounder was okay. The hushpuppies were the best by far. Quick and fast takeout service.

We came in off the beach today earlier than normal to go here. Super casual - a food truck in a parking lot close to 17. It seems most take their food to go. They also have a few picnic tables we chose to use so the food would be hot and fresh. They weren't busy today. I understand their crowds diminished after leaving the location next to Beaver Bar. The bulk of their business is catering. Just one young man working this evening. He was super pleasant & went out of way to provide anything we needed. My husband and I both ordered the shrimp/grouper combo. WOW - it is a lot of food, perfectly fried, excellent homemade potato chips and lots of sauces for dipping. I ate until my stomach hurt and managed to eat only a few of the large serving of chips. My husband had to finish my grouper. We will definitely add this to our regular rotation.

Now that I've found this place that opinion has changed! Everything we ordered was delicious and you could tell was super fresh. The service was excellent, I believe the woman working was the owner and was super kind and helpful. The area was clean and the food truck is parked in a parking lot next to an ice cream place. There are a few tables to sit and eat at. Not a ton of space but guessing most get their food to go. Don't question if this is worth it, you absolutely need to go here!

They had a few different bars that you could order at, with the main one being inside, another little hut outside, and a cash bar next to that. They also had a pretty cool live band, with a viewing patio right in front of the stage. In regards to my visit to Hot Fish, I'd say I was most impressed with the bartenders at the establishment, who did a great job under pressure. Even though the place was packed, and especially the bar area, they did a great job of remaining calm, and even got our drinks out in a relatively quick period of time. They also made some awesome blue Gatorade shots, which were some of the best shots I've ever had! I didn't necessarily love that there were cops standing guard at the entrance, but the bar's own security staff and bouncers were really nice, which isn't something you see at every one of these places. The only downsides to the Hot Fish Club were that many of the plastic chairs in the outside area were broken and cracked, making it kind of hard to sit a large-sized group like ours (they had a lot of wooden tables, but they were all taken), and that the restroom situation was awful. According to the girls in our group, the actual, physical restrooms were disgusting, forcing them to use the giant line of porta potties. This isn't a huge deal for guys, but it was a little uncomfortable for the ladies. Other than that, Hot Fish was great, and I'd highly recommend stopping by!

Our first and second visit consisted mostly of the same things: Oysters and Calamari to start, Seafood Mac & Cheese and Fish & Chips. I had the lettuce wraps, which are big, so share. And I had Crab Cakes. The wraps were good but they needed a better aioli in my opinion, because it became a sort of watery dressing instead of something sturdier. And the pico de gallo was not actually that. It was diced tomato, onion and had zero taste of lime, salt or spicy. It was fine but could have been killer. My hubby had the Clam Chowder, Pan Seared Grouper and the shrimp Po Boy. He loved the grouper, risotto and the chowder. The fish was flaky and seasoned well. The po boy needed more sauce but was really delicious. My daughter (16) needed a seafood break since she had the fish and chips the first visit and went with the Claw House Burger. She said it was seasoned and that it was indeed 1/4 lb. And Fish & Chips was the best she had had (which, she's had an incredible amount for her young age) -- not too much breading, nice crisp on the outside and juicy fish. The fries both nights were a little chewy but the flavor was there. And how can I forget. Even though on the second night we saw at least five tables start with the Crab Nachos we added a third item, Fried Clam Strips. Those were ridiculously good. I'm not a fan of tartar sauce so I ate it without and it was perfect on its own. Everything was fresh, they paid attention to detail in most individual elements and the location sent it over the top. Definitely worth a visit.

A table of 4 sat a few minutes before we did and a table of 6 sat probably 10 minutes after them. Our table and the table of 6 were served before the group of 4 who had to ask a bus boy for service. Yikes! Server was sweet besides the empty non alcoholic beverage glasses she did not fill when our food came out. She didn't come back to check in on us until my husband's 6 bites of dinner were already gone. I asked if the portion is usually that small (especially in comparison to the significantly cheaper - MASSIVE PORTIONS we saw being served all around us) and she politely said "yes. typically, sometimes a little bigger." As someone with a culinary arts degree & kitchen background I was very very very disappointed on the portion size of his entree for the price & sizes of surrounding entrees being served (that were cheaper or around the same price) and it literally ruined my entire experience. A smidge dramatic but the God's honest truth! Great view, beautiful patio, friendly service - just extremely disappointed. I planned to order both of us dessert and immediately skipped out & asked for the check when the server finally came over to ask how our food was. This review is hot & cold because my experience was. Would I recommend it? I'd recommend going for the best oysters in Myrtle and a clean, friendly facility - but that's about all I can say! PS - $3 "destination fee?" Clearly I'm not from around here, but it was the only restaurant from north Myrtle down to Murrells to charge us a fee for eating there as a tourist.
