This salon/spa is a "booth rental" style place, so I am just going to speak to my experience with the stylist I see there. The salon/spa is very pretty inside, though I will say the waiting area up front is pretty small, and I think a lot of the stylists/colorists have their own chairs in their area for their clients. Basically there's a long hallway lined on either side with small rooms which have glass walls facing the hallway, and glass doors. It's pretty classy, and it's nice because when you are having your hair done you can focus on YOUR gossip rather than hearing the gossip from the stylist and client in the next chair. Each room has it's own sink, so everything happens there in your stylists/colorist's room. If you go to the very back of the hall way and to the left, that's where the day spa area is, and it looks really peaceful and relaxing. Ok, so I see a stylist named Sha (pronounced Shay), and I've been seeing her since 2003 when she was the head stylist at Mario Tricoci Too at Oak Park Mall, then to the one in Leawood before she struck out on her own. She's SO nice, and she's awesome about telling me when something is NOT going to work for my hair and suggesting an alternative. AND she's fast. She books haircuts in half hour time slots so you are not going to spend half your day there. I recommend her to everyone I know because I really trust her. She made growing out a terrible pixie cut I should have never had bearable, and I always get comments and compliments on my hair. She also does some awesome up-do's, for the record. If you get your hair colored, there's a colorist across the hall from Sha named Adriene, and she's awesome. When I had highlights she did an amazing job and never fried my hair. If you're looking for a stylist or colorist, go see Sha and Adriene. They are talented ladies! read more

Purely awful experience. I purchased a package with 3 Sculpt Pod sessions. I had a hard time connecting with the associate setting up/carrying out my appointments. The first time I called at 10:00am (I thought that time was pretty reasonable for a spa) I was greeted with a "Hi" and silence. It was awkward trying to figure out whether or not I had called the correct number. The associate later told me that I woke her up and she wasn't awake enough to understand that I wanted to make an appointment. Oh well, that is not too big of a deal. What is a big deal is that I scheduled and confirmed my third appointment, and when I got there the aforementioned associate never showed up! I waited an hour, texted her, and never received a response. Also, The Sculpt Pod does not seem to have any contact information. So, if you have any issues, you're just stuck with the bill and no way of contacting customer service. read more

Never use Heather. Bought a Groupon. Called her to make an appointment and there was no answer on the phone and no call back even though I left messages. I sent a text to ask if she had a web page to schedule appointments, she replied she would call me the next evening that she had a death in the family. Made an appointment. Got there about 15 minutes early so I was sitting in the lobby because she hadn't arrived yet. I heard her come in so I want to let her know I was there and asked if she would like me to sit in her cubicle or in the lobby. Heather snapped at me told me I was early. She was confrontational the whole time and eventually told me she was going to cancel because she didn't like me and I'd have to worry about getting my money back from Groupon. Do not use her. IN REGARDS TO A FACIAL I BOUGHT OFF GROUPON: I am writing this review to Help the nice girl that did my facial, because I do believe a few small things could be improved to help her customers come back and I am not coming back for the reasons below. I am NOT going to say her name, because I don't want to make her look bad or feel bad, but I will say she is on Groupon for her facials and is a very nice young girl. Pro's: -She did a great job massaging my face, I have had a dozen facials before at nice spa's and she definitely knew what she was doing as far as the movement of her hands on my face. -The Price of the facial was excellent! -She did a great job cleaning out the pores on my face and blackheads! :) Cons (ways she can improve): -I recommend her investing in an actual SPA brand to use on her customers face's when doing a scrub, peel, lotion, cleanser, anti aging, etc...Not Rodan and Fields (She Used Rodan & Fields and I was not very happy when I learned that...because I already use Rodan & Fields and if I wanted to have those kind of products rubbed in my face I would of just done it myself. I know it is a decent brand, but usually it is not what people want to be used on their face when they go to a spa to get a facial. It's like a dentist using a regular tooth brush and toothpaste to "clean your teeth"...you could do that yourself. Spa goers would prefer a nice brand that has scents like a spa usually uses. - Replace your sheets and Towels with New Ones. When I first arrived into the room, I noticed the sheets that I was suppose to lay on and the towel she gave me to put on both looked like they were about 10 years old, with fuzzy balls all over them and did not look very clean. :( This made me very uncomfortable and honestly I was surprised just LOOKING at them she didn't think strangers may think they look dirty and old. I mean i am NOT a clean freak at all, or high maintenance and it grossed me out putting on the towel she gave me and laying on the sheets...just didn't make me feel relaxed, like I should. :( Okay that is all. Overall if she replaced the towel and sheets and got new product not only would I go back but I would make it a monthly appointment to go see her, because she TRULY did a fabulous job on the facial part, she just needs updated items in her room and I hope if she reads this she doesn't think I am just being a mean Troll, because I genuinely wanted to write this to help her keep more customers because she deserves them. :) read more

Leah is my go-to girl. She does the BEST highlights in town. Subtle, sun-kissed and gorgeous. Just started going to her for cuts too. She's great at interpreting those torn-out magazine pages and transforming them into something that will work for your hair and look great. Prices are reasonable and she has a great magazine collection. One of the other booths @ Aspen offers eyelash extensions and yet another offers threading. Lots of services in one place! read more

Love this place! I get my hair done by Lara Black. She has been doing my hair since I was 16 and has always listened to what I wanted and has done exactly what I ask for. Even if it means that it takes 5 hours to complete. Other salons would have turned me away or made me come back in multiple times (which just DOES NOT work when you have 2 children). I decided to "DIY" my hair and went through 3 boxes of color and totally ruined my scalp and hair. Lara did a color correction, Cut and treatment to restore my hair back to being smooth and shiny again! My scalp was peeling and my hair literally felt like straw when I came in. She does amazing work and really cares about what you want!! I would Highly recommend her! read more

After multiple calls back and forth to get scheduled, I had an appointment today with Kristen...and 4 hours before my appointment time, I got a text that said, "I can't keep our appointment. I'll be in touch if you'd like to reschedule." IF? I had made arrangements so that I was able to go to this in the first place and was a little annoyed that as a professional service, I don't get an explanation or even a personal phone call...or even an offer of another date! So, I responded that I had a groupon, so I do have to reschedule. I explained that I was disappointed with the late notice, as I made arrangements. Now, the response I get blew me away. "I'm sorry that I had a death in the family and that I can't accommodate you. Feel free to get your Groupon refunded since this death is such a disappointment to you. So sorry." What?!?! Wait, WHAT?!?!?I don't think I've ever dealt with someone that was so unprofessional in my entire life. Yes, a death is a perfectly good reason to not make someone's appointment...however, to belittle someone that didn't know your situation (and was not rude in response, but simply explained their feelings), this was WAY out of line. After this, I said sorry for the death in her family and mentioned that I was not meaning that in a rude fashion...to which she responded that I was rude and to get my groupon refunded. I understand being upset with a death, I get it...but to handle it this unprofessionally is amazing to me. IF you are going to send a text to a potential client, how hard would it have been to just say, "I had a death in the family, I need to reschedule"? It's understandable. In a world full of flakes, professionalism and honesty go a long way. I would NEVER make someone feel bad about cancelling anything because of a death, and now I get treated like I'm some awful person...for no reason. Husband got me a spa giftcard for a massage and body treatment. I opted for the sugar scrub and a relaxing massage. I saw Beth Newman for my massage. She had the whole process down like clockwork. The door to the massage room was in the hallway where people were walking around, so I was worried about my naked self getting seen by someone walking by. I never was uncomfortable though. Anytime there was potential to expose myself because of moving around or changing, she was in the adjoining bathroom (complete with shower - which was nice because I had to wash off after the sugar scrub) or I was good and covered. If you are worried about this aspect of the massage, no worries here. It was a very relaxing experience, which is the whole point of massage to me. I've done the "helpful" deep-tissue massage and then left in total pain before. I'm sure if you want that, she would be fully willing to inflict pain on you. I also thought the overall space for waiting was rather small, and I didn't dig that. There was a family of three in the spa area too, so I just had to stand while I waited for Beth, because there was no more room for me to sit (and only two of them were sitting). read more

I'd give them zero stars if I could. Had a haircut scheduled with Heather and she was unprofessional from the very beginning. My gut reaction was to walk out but I figured it couldn't be that bad. I asked to cut it short in the back and blend it to the long pieces in the front. The first thing she does is cut an inch off the front. What?! She grabs it to cut more off and I said hold on. I explained again what I want and she says she can't communicate with me and says the haircut is over. Who stops halfway through a haircut? I said that it needs to be finished and she threatens to call the police. I called the owner Emily and she defended the stylist saying sometimes it takes awhile to find the perfect match. Wow, I mean Wow, what a really great massage and I've had lots of massage. In this day and age with so many types of massage, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point and so much more it's easy to forget that a good Swedish Massage can be just as effective! I had a wonderful, skillful, flowing massage with perfect pressure that yielded the same benefit as a Deep Tissue massage would provide. I would very highly recommend Kristen for her well honed skills and ability to get relief for my knots and twists without any discomfort and plus, it was quite relaxing! read more

I am in total agreement with a previous reviewer!! Sha is a wonderful stylist who has experience that cannot be replaced. She is able to make a really quality haircut look easy because she is a true professional. Adraine is a colorist who really listens to what you want and suggests what you might need to make the color right. Adraine and Sha are definitely recommended if you'd like a beautiful cut and color! read more

Alexia in The Skin Room, gives THE best facials!!! I travel a lot and I will not go to another person for facials even if it's a resort. No one can do a better job than what she does!
