Aspens was a great experience and we can't wait to return. We went on a Friday night and the interior was great and we had spectacular service from Michael who elevated the dining experience to another level. The food was also really good. The best things we had were the porterhouse steak which was cooked perfectly and had a great crust. The Mac and cheese and dessert we had we also amazing and we will order again when we return. We also had the Bruschetta and Whipped potatoes, both of which were good, but didn't blow us away like the other items. We will probably try something new next time because there were a lot of great options on the menu. I came here with my family for Father's Day--Aspens is my parents' favorite place to go for a special occasion. The interior is really cute, has character, and feels intimate but approachable. Aspens may just now be my most favorite restaurant in East Cobb! Our experience last night was amazing. I didn't make a reservation before had and we were seated within five minutes. Everyone was welcoming. This is a nice, white-tablecloth establishment. From start to finish, we had a truly pleasant experience. I had dinner with my brother after doing some work around the house and working hard to turn the house over after Christmas, so we were famished. Our waiters were Brandon who was assisted by Laurel. All were excellent, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Brandon was the best. I appreciate how personable he was and the recommendations he made when I asked. I love that they have soft bread--not that hard stuff that's difficult to eat and chew. I adored my Ribeye (not the bone in one) that was perfectly cooked Medium Well. Those side were spectacular---especially the Brussels sprouts. The bacon took them over the top. But that Smoked Old-Fashioned which they have the audacity to spoke in front of you in Mason Jars was the cat's meow, and it was so smooth. That has got to be one of the best Old-Fashioned, being a Bourbon man myself, that I've had. I had a good spiced one at a restaurant instead of the Marriott Marquis in downtown NOLA, but this one was in a class all it's own. They did good. We were too full for dessert. I gotta come back with my wife. It's a elegant spot and great for dinner with friends and family, to celebrate an anniversary, and for date night with the one you love. Environment and decor? Gorgeous. Service? Attentive and understated. Food? Soooooo disappointing. While I guess the prices were less than what you'd pay at a Buckhead or Midtown steak house, the experience just wasn't there. First, the sizing was wildly off. One person's "eight ounce filet" was literally the size of a meatball, while another's appeared the correct size. The "meatball" filet was ordered medium, and was delivered to the table so charred that it was clearly going to be overcooked, which it was, a solid brown all the way through (well done). Other steaks also came out a bit overcooked, one needing to be sent back for being significantly overcooked (ordered rare+, delivered medium). I would put the steak I ordered medium rare solidly in the medium camp as well. From reading other reviews, it appeared that undercooking was the default, so just know that under/over is not consistent- on our night, three of the six steaks at our table were overcooked. The charred meatball steak mentioned above was the only steak with any grill marks, and my ribeye was quite thin. While all the steaks were clearly doused in butter, they had virtually no flavor and were pretty chewy. My ribeye also wasn't trimmed at all. I am fine with fat on my meat, especially a ribeye, as that's part of the deliciousness. But the little white strings of connective tissue hanging off the ends were less than appealing. The choice boneless ribeyes we had purchased from Costco and grilled at home the day before were better quality and taste. On the sides, the jumbo asparagus were great! Cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned, they were the highlight along with the warm bread. The mashed potatoes were also lacking any discernable flavor (maybe the kitchen was out of salt last night?) and were both gluey and lumpy. And the desserts tasted fine, but the presentation was really disappointing-- they looked like something out of a retirement home cafeteria line rather than an upscale dining destination. Everyone seemed to enjoy their cocktails, and so perhaps in the future I will reserve this neighborhood spot as the place to come enjoy a cocktail at the bar. But when I'm seeking a steak at this quality level in the future, I'll head to Longhorn for more flavor, or head to Little Alley, Marcel, Bones, or Chops for a steak worthy of the steakhouse designation (and price tag). read more

Real nice waiter who was knowledgeable of the menu with good recommendations. We were there for a retirement dinner. I had the duo medallions and grits for my main course. The grits were made with gouda cheese. They were creamy and very good. The star of my meal. I ordered the duo medallions medium. One with chimichurri and the other with blue cheese. The chimichurri was the better of the two. The steak was more on the medium well to well done side. The steak could also have been more tender. Someone at our table ordered the cauliflower and said it was outstanding and the star of her meal. We had dessert. I did the white and dark chocolate mousse cake. It was excellent and paired with the raspberry sauce very nicely. The restaurant was a solid 3.5. Nicely crafted cocktails & the filet mignon flavor was out of this world! Cesar salad barely had any flavor, but the smoked gouda grits were pretty tasty! The chocolate mouse cake was OMG good - not too rich & left you wanting more! Young girl hostess wasn't too good w trying to accommodate my being on crutches - wanted me to follow her thru too narrow a pathway & then could've put us at a table that was accessible from either side to make it easier for me once sat. Our female server & her male trainee were both very nice & down to earth although did leave my boyfriend without his requested beer thru a reasonable portion of his meal, which wasn't OK but was quick to snag it once brought to her attention. We sat at the bar and got there early on Christmas Eve. There were barely any people there so service should have been good. However, both bartenders waited on the restaurant table patrons. Not once did they ask us if we needed anything or how our food was. My veggie was substituted out and I wasn't informed ahead of time. When I raised the issue, I was told, "Thank you". No 'sorry, we were out' or 'would you prefer something else'? Your bartenders need to learn how to give good service to the patrons AT the bar. This is where they're going to make most of their tips. I'm a late crowd for a restaurant visitor so I was super excited when Aspen's let me make a reservation for 9:30pm! However, they did call me and ask me to show up early because they close at 10 which is fair but got me scared for food. I'll admit my fault if it's bad right because I'm late Did not matter!!!! Aspens did not disappoint!! First of all, it wasn't busy which was really nice!! Didn't feel rushed or crowded. Started off with some beer to drink which was good!! As a starter we got the chopped salad with ranch, which I'll admit was just okay! I think the Caesar would be better but it was fine! The entrees on the other hand.... WOW!!! We got the fried shrimp, the trout and the steak frites. The fried shrimp were PHENOMENAL AND HUGE!!! Not to mention it came with fries and onion rings?? Come on. The trout was also HUGE!! That's the biggest filet ever!! Got it with the grits and cream spinach and that's a combo made in heaven. I got the steak Frites cooked medium rare and I've never been happier. It was cooked to perfect and a huge amount. Such a good amount of food for the price. Not to mention our server was great! She was attentive, split up the salad for us and packed our to go boxes. We went to Aspens on Friday night, ordered a Ribeye and when it was brought to the table, it was burned and covered up with some type of gravy. This was our first time dining at Aspens Signature Steaks and we were pleasantly delighted. We were celebrating my husband's birthday. They seated us in a quiet section of the restaurant as we previously requested. My husband ordered the ribeye and I ordered the salt crusted prime rib. Both meats were cooked perfectly to order and were juicy with a lot of flavor. We also had the mushroom and loaded baked potato sides, both were very good. For the dessert, we ordered the crème brulee and it was delicious, light and not overly sweet. It was the best crème brulee that I'd ever eaten. The servers were outstanding and very friendly. We made a reservation and were the first to arrive at 5pm. Res was for a table. I am a 100% disabled veteran and have difficulties with a booth. We were taken to a booth. I said the res was for a table for four and we needed the table. The hostess was quite put out, turned around, walked away coming back in a few minutes. We were taken to the back room - in a corner for the table. The restaurant was completely empty. There were two other tables (empty) in that room. Shortly after begining to eat both filled up - one about 15 and the other 20 plus people. They were quite noisey - underatandable it was Christmas and party time. Finally we left not being able to communicate with each other. Food was Aspens typical very good. With an empty dining room and specific table reservation I do not feel I was out of line with our requested seating but were given the worst table in a completely empty restaurant. Having grown up in the area, Aspens has always been known as an upscale steakhouse for fancy dining. My mother and I have had a tradition lately of coming here for Christmas Eve dinner when I visit for the holidays. The last time I came here I had the 14 oz. ribeye cooked medium. It was absolutely perfect. Coupled with fries and the bread that is provided, it was an amazing meal and well worth the price. The atmosphere was lively and intimate as always. The only thing preventing a five star review is that it took an hour from being seated until our food arrived. Our server was really nice and I could tell he was frustrated with the kitchen. I chalk it up to holiday staffing, but will say that this is not a place to have a fast dining experience. I would come prepared to make an evening of it, which is what we did. Went there for my 74th birthday with my wife. She ordered the cowboy ribeye steak bone in, primarily because she loves to chew around the bone and then take it home for our little dog Nina. It did not have the bone in and was very tough and hard to chew and eat. My Petite fillet mignon was supposed to be medium well but it was extremely well done and also somewhat tough to eat. Our waitress was apparently new on the job and did not know the menu well, she said it does not say that it has a bone in it, but after I walked over and picked up a menu, it clearly says bone in. The manager did come by and said that they ones they are using now do not have a bone He was very nice about it and did take 50% off of the bill The waitress then said that since it was my birthday, they had a special treat for us. It was a very good desert, but when they brought the check , they had charged for it, but she did take it back and took it off of the bill. We have eaten in many of the top steakhouses in the US from coast to coast, and this was by far the worst experience Definitely will not go back again. read more

We had a great evening last weekend! We started with drinks at the bar that were made perfectly and then a delicious meal. I got the fish and chips which is no surprise. It was scrumptious and others at the table got cowgirl steaks. I snuck a little bite and it was delicious too. Our waiter was funny and very attentive. A lady caught her menu on fire and the staff handled that bazar event very well. They took it straight outside and stomped out on the wet sidewalk. Not the least bit panic. Horrible experience. Aspens- 1/15/24 Celebratory dinner. Excited to eat a steak, have a cocktail and glass of wine with our steak. The bartender Ethan, approached us and took our 1st drink order. He then proceeded to tell us about the specials while making other drinks for the patrons. Very little eye contact. We ordered our steaks and sides. They were brought to us. No food was eaten at this point. We then asked to order a bottle of wine for the 3 of us. The bartender said NO.... Literally thought he was kidding. Bartender never brought us bread or re-filled our water.... So if we were inebriated....you didn't do your job. Then the manager approached. We were shocked as we only had one drink. And said, we believe you are Inebriated. Wait....what. We said ok, that's fine, we'll leave. He said if we left without payment we would never be allowed to come back. Here's the thing. We didn't come for free food. And to be told if we didn't pay, wed be banned?!? We had the manager bag it up, payed the tab, tipped the bartender. It was an expensive tab. There were 4 other people at the bar. We even knew the couple from my neighborhood at the bar. It was not crowded. The manager never even interacted with us. We were judged. Judged unfairly and wrong. In retrospect, we should have only payed for the drinks and left since we didn't even have a bite. Been coming there for years. Appalled is an understatement. I recommend Aspens to many people who come to the area. I eat there often with my family. I Want to have faith but this experience straight ruined the evening and the celebration. I'm in my mid 40's.
