We had a great dinner at Cherokee Chophouse. I enjoyed it. This restaurant is located in unincorporated north Marietta, near Kennesaw; if you're looking for a decent steakhouse in this area, I give this place a thumbs up. The atmosphere isn't as stuffy or as formal like a steakhouse in the city (e.g., Buckhead), but it's still nice. Book your reservation using OpenTable and get dining points. There's a big dedicated parking lot around the building with plenty of free parking. No valet. We had a party of five and shared a lot of dishes. Here's what I had: Classic Cocktails * Dirty Martini ($15) - Hanson Original Vodka, Foro Dry Vermouth, olive juice, pimento olives Appetizers * Oysters on the Half Shell (12 for $33) - cocktail sauce and horseradish; James River, Virginia Sides * White Cheddar Mac & Cheese ($9) * Hawaiian Roasted Brussels Sprouts ($11) - with smoked bacon and Parmesan cheese Signature Cuts * Cherokee Western Luau (14 oz steak, $54) - ribeye marinated for 48 hours in pineapple, soy and ginger, "a Cherokee favorite;" 1855 Black Angus Beef from Grand Island, NE House Specials * Black Jack Salmon ($34) - wood-grilled and basted with Jack Daniel's glaze and served with crusted mashed potatoes and EVOO broccolini Desserts * Bananas Foster ($12) - flambeed tableside We also got cheese bread to start (bread with melted cheese on top, with a creamy white sauce). Everything was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed everything, starting with the martini, which was well-made. The oysters were big, fresh, and tasty. The Cherokee Western Luau was recommended to me by our server. He was so convincing that my friend changed his order to get a Western Luau too. It was fantastic, perfectly cooked to medium rare. The salmon was terrific as well, nicely cooked, tender, and flavorful (another excellent choice as well). The Bananas Foster wasn't flambeed tableside as described on the menu, so that was disappointing. However, it still tasted good. Our server was Cason B and he was great. He made an excellent recommendation on the Western Luau and was just a nice guy overall. The hostess was friendly too and helped us take a picture in the lobby. I wish I could rate Cherokee Chophouse higher. The feel when you walk in is very nice, it's a higher end ambiance that sets high expectations. The holiday music was really weird, it was like kids versions of church Christmas songs, seems like the venue needed Bing Crosby or Sinatra, our whole party noticed. However, our first problem was we had Christmas Eve reservations for 6:30. We were finally taken to our table 7:45. At the 45 minute mark I was told any minute to wait up front. Check again at the 1 hour mark and they had no idea when we would be seated. Over an hour wait past reservation is unacceptable, and it was everyone there. Every group was grumbling and frustrated. I understand over booking on a busy holiday night but this was ridiculous. Once seated it got a little better but still had problems. As for my personal food, I had the a French Onion Soup that didn't come out with everyone else's so I waited while they ate. When it came out it was delicious for what it's worth, but I only ate half because the main course came out so close to when I finally got my soup. They did comp the soup. Bread was slow to come out but good. Drinks were a bit slow and they were just sodas and teas, but they left the empty's on the table creating a clutter where it was tough to find room for everything. I shared the bone-in ribeye with my daughter and came away a bit disappointed. It was a fine cut of steak for sure. But it was WAY under-seasoned and unevenly cooked. Salt would have gone a long way, and I prefer medium-rare, but it was rare at the bone (which is fine) medium rare towards the middle, and medium well for about the last 1/3 of the steak. It wasn't bad, but just underwhelming for an $80+ steak. My wife had the chicken piccata and said it was good. The rest of our party did enjoy their meals which included the filet (she enjoys it well done), the prime rib, and the salmon. We also had the macaroni and cheese and brussel sprouts which were very good. Overall, I don't want to bash the place, it wasn't bad. But for the price, it was underwhelming in both service and food. This place just never disappoints. From the atmosphere to the service to the food. It's just simply top notch. I've never sat anywhere but the bar, so I can't speak to the rest of the waitstaff. However, the bartenders are great! I've never had a bad meal here. During the most recent visit, tried the Cherokee Mixed Grill. It was perfect for 2 people to share. It comes with 3 different sauces: garlic butter, bordelaise, and bernaise. Also ordered the Burrata Tomato Salad and French Onion Soup. All delicious! Went to have an early dinner with grandkids. Love the atmosphere and was concerned about bring 10 ,13 and 9 year old there. Very welcoming as we entered the restaurant. Our server was very friendly and helpful. We had to get our order in and eat to make another event. 5 Stars for our server for working with us on this. We ordered Ribs, salmon, and steak (we split that steak meal with one of the kids ) and house salad with chicken. ALL of the food was excellent. My salmon had a wonderful glaze on it. The setting is really wonderful and has a true ambiance for a nice meal. We enjoyed the mini beef Wellington special appetizer immensely and highly recommend! The prime rib was a little meh as one side was more done than the other. The horseradish sauce with it was way too watery and didn't even have a horseradish taste or kick to it. so we went soon as they open I think at 4 PM. Nice place. It was pretty dark inside at first, but they finally turned the lights a little brighter. Maybe I'm getting old, lol. Anyway we got barbecue ribs as a appetizer. We both ended up getting steaks, broccolini, corn, and I got New Orleans Cajun oysters. State was pretty good, but I actually expected better for my restaurant like this. I did really enjoy my luau ribeye, the flavor was delicious, but I probably should have gotten it medium as the fat wasn't properly rendered at medium rare. Everyone else in the party enjoyed their food. The only thing I'd advise against is ordering the Caesar salad. visited Cherokee Chophouse yesterday for a birthday celebration, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing enough that I will not be returning. When we first sat down, I ordered the salmon. About 10-15 minutes later, our waitress (I believe her name was Evelyn) returned to tell me that the salmon had just sold out and that I would need to order something else. After looking over the menu again, nothing else really appealed to me, so I chose not to order another entrée. My husband ordered the crab salad, and we shared it. I like to portion-control my meals, so I boxed part of the salad and continued eating the rest while we were talking with others at the table. At one point I turned back around and noticed that my plate was gone. I asked my husband if he had moved it, and he said he hadn't. When our waitress returned, I asked if she had removed my plate, and she said yes. I explained that I was not finished eating. Her response was that she thought I was done. What surprised me most was that no one asked if I was finished before removing my food. In my opinion, that's basic restaurant etiquette -- simply asking a guest before clearing their plate. I explained that I was still eating and that I portion my meals intentionally, so I had planned to continue eating what was left. The waitress did offer to bring another plate, but at that point it wasn't really about getting more food. It was about the principle of good customer service and communication. To add to the experience, there was also no acknowledgment or adjustment regarding the entrée I originally ordered that was unavailable after the order had already been placed. Even a small gesture or apology would have gone a long way. Overall, the experience felt very off-putting, especially for what was supposed to be a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I won't be returning. read more

Visited Cherokee on a Saturday evening with a reservation. It was pretty busy so we were not seated on time and so we waited on the patio which is a nice space. Once I got inside I was blown away! Loved the ambiance. Our servers were great, friendly and attentive. Overall everything was absolutely delicious. The salmon was perfectly cooked with great flavor as were the scallops. We made reservations online so it was easy for New Year's Eve. We were excited to go. We actually booked a 5 o'clock reservation which worked out perfectly. When we got there, they were busy but when we left, they were super busy. We were sat on the patio section, which was super bright light wise, and they were kind enough to lower the lights to make it more enjoyable. I was really hoping to sit in the restaurant area, but the porch ended up working out. The hostess who sat us wasn't very accommodating I was worried because I thought that was going to ruin the evening. I wish she would've been a bit more welcoming. We were sat by a large table and there were three servers waiting on us. You could tell that they were giving the majority of their attention to the larger table cause we were just a party of two. It's weird that restaurants seat a party of two by larger parties. Maybe they need to rethink that! Anyways, we ended up having a server who was more junior. He didn't really give us the formal welcome that we heard the other server give the large party, but it worked out. We ended up splitting the bone in ribeye and we got two sides, the truffle fries, and the broccolini. We started out our meal with the candied bacon who doesn't love bacon right? it was delicious, but we ended up taking the majority of it home because there was so much of it. I enjoyed their house salad their blue cheese dressing was delicious. The ultimate treat of the evening was the ribeye. They bring it to you on a sizzling plate. I thought the performance was gonna be a bit more elaborate than it was but all in all we enjoyed it. The steak is absolutely delicious. The truffle fries were finger, licking good. For appetizers, we had the candied bacon (YUM), wings, and calamari. The wings and calamari were ok. Nothing to really rave about. I ordered an 8 oz filet that came with mashed potatoes. I added creamed corn (YUM but $10?). I expected more flavor. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium) but it didnt have a great taste. For dessert, I ordered the strawberry cheesecake. I was so pleasantly thrilled about my experience here. The night was off to a rough start because I had dinner arrangements prior with somebody and I was stood up. I later found out that evening that I just received a commission bonus at my new job, and it was the last night of Ramadan, so rather than being upset that someone had stood me up, I decided to treat myself and dine myself out. As always, another fabulous dining experience at Cherokee Chophouse. Started out with the seared ahí tuna, beef Wellington bites, crab cakes and jumbo shrimp cocktail appetizers. All absolutely amazing! High quality tuna and gigantic shrimp served in a lighted, jumbo martini glass. Crab cakes loaded with meat, not fillers. All beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Dinner was the crab and shrimp stuffed lobster tail wrapped in bacon which I believe was a special. Can you say yummmmmmmmmmmy? It was incredible! Generous portions of real crab meat and shrimp. Also had some fresh, homemade onion rings that were on point. The banana pudding ice cream dessert just took it over the top. I ordered the prime rib and my friend had the filet; both were cooked to perfection, beautifully seasoned, and absolutely delicious. His professionalism, attentiveness, and energy made the experience unforgettable.
