    Woody's Original Philly

Visited Woody's on a weekday afternoon and I was the only one in the restaurant at the time, which I wasn't mad about! I was greeted by a nice young man named Aaron, who was very helpful in my selection process. I knew I wanted a classic cheesesteak, so I ordered the Woody's Original and added a little Mayo to it, cheese and the steak of course lol. I didn't like that they had pre-cooked meat resting on the griddle already, cause again, I was the only one their, I would assume, they would cook the meat fresh, but hey what can I say?! My order was ready pretty quickly, and Aaron suggested their habanero sauce and another green one that was SPICY, but very fresh & tasty. The bread was fresh and the meat was nice and tender! Overall, the food & service was outstanding. The new location is also very nice as well, located in the Marietta Square! I will definitely be back to Woody's and if he sees this shout out to you Aaron!!!

We Door Dashed Woody's last night. I had a chicken cheesesteak and my bf had the regular cheesesteak. We ordered them just as they came since it was our first time ordering from Woody's. We both said they were good. Fine. But kind of basic and definitely we would want to add some other stuff on it next time. We also had a chili slaw dog, which was really really good and an Italian sub which was full of flavor, great sub dressing and veggies. I think I would probably get that again over the cheesesteak or really add a lot of stuff to my cheesesteak. All in all good experience.

First time and definitely will not be our last. Service was great very friendly with them doing the grill right in front of you. Went in at lunch and had our sandwiches within minutes. Soft roll with a sandwich stuffed with steak. Don't let the one picture fool you it was loaded. One price under $10 with the add ons not costing much. Sign on the window said cash less so take that into account. Place was clean and they seemed to care how your food was. They do have a few other sandwiches available if you don't want steak.

Wanted a cheesesteak, ended up with food poisoning. This was 1 of the best cheesesteaks iv ever had. I swapped the American cheese for wiz and added jalapeños. Great size and was ready in less than 5 mins. Now the bad.. after eating I sat outside on the patio for 30 mins and started noticing my stomach cramping. I ate the first half pretty fast so just assumed it was just passing through. Decided to head home and within the 1st hour I was throwing up profusely with terrible stomach cramps. This went on from 8ish until almost midnight. I have worked in kitchens 10+ years and went to culinary school so I knew immediately what the cause was. I have loved the OG and Buckhead Woody's locations for years and never had a problem. This was probably just a 1 off scenario of something sitting out to long or improper sanitation. I did not see the cook change gloves when touching raw meat and wrapping the sub up at the end BUT that does not mean I got sick from that occasion. I only ate the 1st half luckily so I could not imagine the impact if I had the whole thing. I would recommend Woody's to anyone wanting a great sandwich but it is hard for me to vouch for this location.

A new location - had to check it out and make sure it lives up to Woody's standards! The place was busy but got there right at lunch time. Lots of 2 top booths and a couple of larger tables. Looks like they had a deck out back but due to the pollen count, we did not go out there. The line moved quickly and we ordered 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks and some wedges with cheese. They were delicious! Soft bread and lots of cheese! The perfect cheesesteak! The wedges were hot and seasoned well. Will be back!!

The OG Woodys location by Piedmont park was the source of many late night pick me ups. Over the past decade plus hadn't been anywhere near that area so was thrilled to see a location open up close by. Dropped in for Friday lunch and it certainly rekindled all the fond memories. Service was fast and friendly; looks like the menu has been expanded a bit to include some other non-cheesesteak options like cold subs and various dogs/sausages. Opted for the old standby in the mushroom and pepper steak with some added jalapeños and was thrilled with the it. Nice portions of everything, and tasted great fresh (as opposed to it being soggy if you let it sit in the wrapper). Decent amt of searing inside and back outside on a small patio. Does tend to get crowded down the corridor btw the small tables along the wall and where the line forms. I have a feeling I'll be back often.

Great service, fast paced, tasty food, reasonable prices. This is honestly probably the most affordable restaurant in Marietta Square! It hits the spot every time! Great for meat eaters AND vegetarians!

Came here around 5 pm on a Monday and had a wonderful experience. I've always lived near Marietta square and I'm always excited when new restaurants come to the area. I've heard good things about Woodys so I decided to check it out myself. The restaurant was clean and inviting and the menu was extremely easy to follow. The service was great and the food came out quickly. The cheesesteak itself was incredibly flavorful and served hot. The potato wedges were hot, crispy, and well seasoned. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and will definitely be back.

I've been wanting to try Woodys for a few years so I was so happy to see that it was one in Marietta. Came here with my dad. Placed our order and by the time we fixed our drinks the food was ready. Fast service and very flavorful food. We got the pepper and mushroom cheesesteak and we shared an order of fries. The cheesesteaks are huge and the fries were seasoned to perfection. The food was so good. I highly recommend this location.

Such a great, easy, quick, cheap, delicious place! Their cheesesteak sandwiches always hit the spot. They even have a veggie option which is fantastic!

Another Marietta wow moment that is so tasteful it has to make the Good Good list. This is my first time here coming with my daughter because she wanted to try it out. The service was spectacular. We got our food on about a minute. We shared a basket of fries and I tell you those fries were seasoned really really good. The cheesesteak was so good that we both said this has to be a regular stop. The booths add an ole time feel to the spot. Yes I do recommend this spot. Sandwich was so big couldn't eat it all.

The cheesesteak was bustling! You can tell the bread was made fresh and they didn't skimp on the steak. I added mushrooms to mine and they were delicious. Cool vibe on the inside with lots of two tops against the wall. Only a few regular tables though. Service was friendly and fast.

Ok, I've been a patron of the original Woody's since the early 80's. I was a wee lad when dad would take me there and the staff was interesting to say the least - Let's say leather chaps, no shirt and leather suspenders many times. I didn't ask many questions as my dad seemed to know what we were doing there - getting the g*d damn best cheese steak ever. In fact theirs was my very first ever and still my favorite (had a true Philly cheese wiz one - no thanks). Anyway, as time passes, I figured out the reason for the "unofficial dress code" at times and the overall individual vibe of the place, adding to my love of it even more...now on to the new place... Crowded space like the original but without the hillbilly methshack appearance. The new place is polished...a bit too cramped...but clean and what you'd expect from a sub shop - had you not grown up on the original. Sandwich was 110%, service was very good. Just even as an old man...I miss the dudes in the chaps that looked like Rob Halford (look him up) making a legendary cheesesteak. Oh, don't forget the "Woody's Sauce" and extra meat. The old leather boys might find ya. Sorry so long - Woody's Forever!!!

Frankly - I'm struggling to figure out how I haven't heard of this place and why no one has posted…read morepics. The oldest review is from 2012! For more than 8 years, I used to frequently visit a plant less than a mile from this place and had no idea it was here. The only thing I can think of regarding lack of photos is maybe the other diners are wolfing their food down before they can snap pics. Lol. I love a good, hot cheap lunch and this place fits the bill. I guess it's what some would call a 'hole in the wall,' but as long as you keep that in mind, for this type of eatery, they knocked it outta the park! Exterior / Interior It's a gas station / convenience store, located right on the corner of Allgood and Damar Rd. (It's less than 5 minutes north of The Big Chicken). Limited parking and be careful exiting the lot. It's on a curve, no traffic light and most motorists seemed intent on disobeying the speed limit. Interior seemed clean and orderly, most customers seemed to be buying food or scratchers. They have this virtual gambling machines and each one was occupied. Crowd was a mix of friendly working class folks and surly sour faced people cursing and trying to steal other people's joy. Food I ordered a turkey club for myself and a chicken philly with fries for the SO. I took the liberty of opening his sandwich and fries to take a pic. My turkey club was quite tasty. I would have his again but I'd ask for it to be placed in a Styrofoam container and I would probably omit the third slice of toast. Thanks to the tight, foil packaging, may sandwich got pretty steamed up by the time I got to my destination. My sweetie said his cheesesteak was excellent and he enjoyed his fries as well. The fries and tator tots have their own dedicated cooking station - and they looked and smelled delicious. Also want to give some Kudos for variety. The cooking area is TINY but somehow, in addition to cheesesteaks and burgers, they also have cold cut sandwiches, fried chicken sandwiches, shrimp PoBoys, BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, beef / lamb gyros and hot dogs. They even have a veggie patty sandwich! Customer Service The 3 men behind the cash register were friendly and the person I spoke to on the phone was very friendly and kind too. (I called to ask about hours and whether they had a menu online). The young lady doing all the cooking was friendly and efficient. She smiled as she asked if mushrooms and onions were ok on the Philly. She kept smiling as she asked if I wanted it dressed with mayo, tomato and lettuce and she thanked me for stopping by. She was manning the grill, the fry station and taking orders and still she managed to stay upbeat and pleasant. Price / Value I think the food prices are pretty reasonable. Another reviewer said the cheesesteak was $5 - either regular inflation or COVID ... it's $6.49. My turkey club was $5.79 and I think the fries were $1.89. They don't have any paper take-away menus (you know I asked) and no online presence so I snapped a few pics of the menu they have written on the an actual, old-school chalk board. Unfortunately, the chalk is very faint and the menu is very hard to read. COVID precautions None at all that I could see. No masks were worn by anyone. There is a plexiglass divider between the customers and the cashiers and the cooking area is on an elevated platform, but otherwise - nada! Overall Overall, once COVID is over, I would stop back by if I was in the area. They are open for breakfast and they stop cooking at 4pm, so I would suggest arriving no later than 3:30pm. If the owner reads this - I would LOVE to see a chicken gyro added in the future. Lol. You already have the flatbread, onions, Tzatziki sauce ... just use that tasty chicken you use on the chicken philly.

My husband ordered a tuna sub, a medium for $11.99! And an order of fries for $3.99. The fries were delicious, crispy and hot, right out of the fryer. The meat on my sub was indistinguishable.
