I stayed at this place and honestly the view was amazing. Our room was facing the pier and the ocean, and waking up to the sound of seagulls in the morning was really nice. The only downside, and honestly the most important one, was the cleanliness. It didn't feel properly cleaned. For example, I found hair in the bathroom, even men's hair, which made me uncomfortable and a bit doubtful about how well everything else was cleaned. It's a shame because everything else was good the location, the view, and even the breakfast (which was included and decent). But cleanliness is really important, and that part definitely needs improvement. read more

Me and my husband stayed at this, and as a part of our honeymoon trip, driving up the coast from California to Washington. All I can say is that the pictures online are super. Super misleading. Doesn't even look like the in at all. Everything is super outdated and there were stains everywhere on the carpet on the chairs and in the bathroom. It was also super overpriced for what you are getting. We also think we just had inflated prices be Ashe we stayed there during 4th of July weekend. It's just dingy and not very well kept. read more

Found this place on Expedia. It has a great location and a good breakfast is included. The check in was fast and friendly, the staff was pretty attentive. The downside was the curb appeal, it loos run down and our rooms were in the back building, where there was some construction or renovations happening. One of the rooms we booked had water dripping in the bathroom. Staff said it was condensation but we hadn't used the showers yet. Listen...it looks sketch...the flickering kiosk lights, the chipping paint, the outdated 1970s bathroom, but THOSE beds!!!!!! Literally best beds ever. Astoria Riverwalk Inn - Disappointing Service Despite a Beautiful Location We stayed at the Astoria Riverwalk Inn from Saturday, December 27 through Sunday, December 28. While the room itself faces the river and the view is genuinely beautiful, the level of service was extremely disappointing and overshadowed what could have been a great stay. Upon arrival, we were not issued room keys because their system was down. This meant that every single time we needed to enter our room, we had to wait for someone at the front desk to come unlock it for us. Since there usually seemed to be only one person working, this often involved a long wait. The staff overall appeared very young and lacked any sense of urgency or customer service. At no point did anyone seem concerned about the inconvenience we were experiencing. To make matters worse, our room had only one towel for two guests. We notified the front desk at 7:00 p.m. Saturday night but were told we couldn't receive additional towels until 9:00 a.m. the next morning. When we called again Sunday morning, the front desk attendant said she couldn't leave the desk to bring towels--yet when I drove to the front desk myself (this is a cottage-style property and our room was at the far end), there were three employees working. Still, no one offered to bring the towels. For a room costing $162 per night, this level of service is unacceptable. The issue isn't walking or driving to the desk--it's the complete lack of care or effort to resolve basic guest needs. Finally, we woke up Sunday morning to ants all over the counters and tables. Ants everywhere. When this was mentioned to the front desk, the response was indifferent at best. This is unfortunate because the rooms themselves are decent, and the balconies and river views are lovely. The potential is absolutely there--but without competent, attentive service, this property falls far short. It's sad to see such a great location undermined by poor management and customer care. read more

This hotel is right on the water along the Southend of the riverwalk. It looks like it's been around for a long time as both the exterior and interior look dated and weathered. The room I stayed in had two twins. The carpet looked old and worn and the bathroom showed signs of some water damage or mildew. The view of the harbor and bridge were beautiful and it was definitely nice to have a balcony to use. The hotel had plenty of parking available and a complimentary breakfast. The location was pretty good as it was within walking distance to the riverwalk and some restaurants. If I return to Astoria I'd probably stay somewhere northeast/east along the riverwalk, but this hotel is a decent stay if you can get a good nightly rate. read more

Great location! The view is wonderful. This place has sooo much potential if the owners would renovate. We paid about $250 for a room on a Thursday night which seems to be affordable for the area. Breakfast was decent with a beautiful view. One thing to be aware of: they advertise with #nosizeorbreedreateictions then want to know what breed your dog is. Weird. They also charge PER dog which is not mentioned anywhere when booking. My only actual complaint would be the smell in the room: it smells like human urine. Luckily, it's July and we were able to sleep with the door open. Next time we are in Astoria we will splurge and get a room at the Cannery. read more

This is the second time that we have stayed at this affordable Inn. Our rooms have been good with terrific views both times. This time, we had room 153 on the bottom floor. It was a very nice corner room with balconies on both sides. The only thing we would change is asked for the second floor so we don't get heavy footed people above us. We also love that the Bridgewater bistro is just a short walk from the Inn. We visited there both nights and the food and ambience is terrific! We'll be staying here again next visit. read more

I was here a couple years ago for a getaway with my hubby. We actually enjoyed our stay last time. Was it the absolute best place, no. It had some cosmetic downsides before, but it had a beautiful view and the bed was decent and the water pressure was great. We decided to get away for the weekend and come here again......probably not again after this. The view isn't worth the back pain. Pretty sure I slept with a spring in my rib all night, we both got very little sleep. The last place I stayed that had a mattress this bad was a budget hotel. The baseboards and sealant around the tub could use some replacing. A lot can be overlooked with a decent mattress and a goodnight sleep. The sunrise from the view is why it gets 2 stars. This is an older motel. Keep in mind, this is also an affordable motel, compared to the rest. Yes it is older, and needs a bit of a facelift, but it was clean, and comfortable. Could have been worse but for $2++.00 I would expect a little more effort. You know those places? The ones where you don't take your socks off or you pull out your shower flip flops? That's it, that's the one. The floors were very dirty, the walls too and every counter top had dog hair on it. Now when you pay for a hotel room that allows dogs and you pay the dog fee you would expect they are prepared to clean up. But there was dog food in the bathroom, I mean that's easy to pick up! The refrigerator smelled of garlic and the lightbulbs make you feel like you are in a creepy subway station. The bathroom tile has not been probably cleaned in years, the grout tells the story. The furniture could use a little shout, maybe a magic spot he bc some past guest had a dribble problem and the carpets, they look clean but again, dog hair for dayZ! So at least I know I was given the right room, for dogs! I love dogs, so that's the best part! Oh and the door, a football player might be the best guest for this door bc it never opens and is always stuck. Oh wait! I almost forgot the fab in the bathroom make an awful sound BUT get this! There is no fan! When you walk into the lobby they have a sign that says they are under staffed(for $2++.00 a night! Staff!!! And staff with good cleaners and pay them bc they will be your bread and butter! You can have an old establishment(which this place is) and it CAN BE CLEAN AND NICE(look at almost all of Europe!)! But this place is not clean and it is not maintained. And it is a REAL bummer because the location is AMAZING!! The views are stunning and to be honest if they cleaned the place up $2++.00 would be too cheap! We went to dinner at the Bowmen Hotel(I do recommend paying a little more! Great food and a soak with a view) and on our way we tan into some locals to talk food, they rolled their eyes when I told them where we were staying. Lesson learned. To be fair, I did over hear sever happy return guests, so my standards may be a bit higher, I mean I do like my doors to open, so... Cleaning is a hard job, pay your staff and you will see results! We had quite a pleasant stay at the Riverwalk Inn in Astoria. The rooms were spacious with two sinks and a large comfy bed. There is also a mini fridge and microwave in the room. No cleaning the rooms between days of your stay, but that seems to be the norm these days. I don't mind at all. As for amenities: They have free bike rentals, which makes it really easy to get around the town! The bikes are new and in good shape, and they provide a lock along with it. Breakfast was also pretty good. They had these delicious chocolate chip waffles, along with biscuits and gravy, oatmeal and a few other things. And every night they turn on the little fire pit by the lobby, which makes for a nice hang out area at the end of the day. read more

Sadly this property continues to decline and deteriorate, through inadequate investment in maintenance. Fabulous marina and bridge view, but when a person can't get a good night's sleep due to an ancient mattress that should have been replaced years ago, the view isn't adequate compensation. Giving the owners credit, they have made a partial bathroom remodel since we stayed last, and the balcony furniture was in good shape. But, inside the room, the floors sag toward the front door, wind blows through the closed door (we stuffed ours with papers at night), carpet visibly dirty, housekeeping only scheduled after 3 days . The building is visibly in bad shape -- gutters missing, roof visibly ancient. If we had known, we would not have stayed here. read more

First off the Riverwalk is a 2 star hotel on Google and it is a less expensive option in Astoria. That being said, we had an okay experience the first time we stayed here a year ago, so I thought we'd give it another try as long as we got the "premium king model" room. We paid extra for this room type which was supposed to be completely renovated. The bathroom, paint, and most of the furniture was updated with a coastal theme and the room seemed clean, however the mattress was horrible. It was like sleeping on your Grandmother's mattress that she bought in 1950. You could feel all of the springs and it was the noisiest mattress I have ever slept on. My husband kept waking me up every time he moved, and I waked him up every time I moved. It cracked and creaked with the slightest movement. Neither of us got any sleep over two nights, and forget about being intimate. What a waste of a weekend away from home. Also, for a fully renovated room the carpet looked completely worn and disgusting (see photo). I feel like they falsely advertised the status of this room. The room description on their website states "This fully renovated king room depicts the future of the Astoria Riverwalk Inn." I hope this isn't what they are trying for in their future. I told the manager on duty when we checked out. All she offered was a sorry, and that they'd have maintenance check out the mattress. It's like she didn't believe how bad it was. I asked for a future discount on a room and she said I could get the discount all repeat customers get. I told her I would be leaving a review and emailing them. I really want to love this hotel and give them my business. I like they have movies you can borrow for free when it isn't Covid, and they have an inviting friendliness. I love the marina views and the view of the bridge, but if I am reserving a fully renovated room, I expect a mattress that I can sleep on and carpet that doesn't look this terrible. read more

This review must absolutely start with warning everyone to avoid communication with the manager Thomas. My mom and I stayed in room 144 for one night, well had the room for one night 10/1, but it was inhabitable, so we slept elsewhere. Initially we noticed the carpet stained room, but understood that it was a dog friendly room and assumed the room was clean minus the stains. Little did we know how bad it could get. There were feet prints on the comforter which was laid out on an old tempropedic mattress that held a swayed middle at least a foot lower than the head and foot of the bed. We tried to lay the opposite direction and even sideways... it just got worse. Then came the flea bites. We both are covered in flea bites and could literally see them jumping around. We decided to call the front desk and ask for a new room even though we felt embarrassed about such a request, but it was that bad. It was 10:30pm at this point and the front desk receptionist said we could move rooms, but that we could only have keys to 1 room at a time. We clarified that we would need to move our items to the curb outside, return the keys to room 144, and then get the keys to the new room to finally move our items from the curb into. She simply replied "Do whatever you want, but you can only have keys to one room at a time." We asked when the manager would be in the next day so we could just pursue some sort of a discount. Luckily, our friends had an extra queen bed so we were able to sleep there. In the morning we headed to the office to follow up. Sharon (not the manager) was on duty and very understanding and even expressed confusion why we would be put in that room. She went on to say that multiple rooms are in un-rentable condition and that they are attempting to update them when possible. We were told that the general manager would call us that afternoon. It is now Friday morning and we still hadn't heard from anyone. Apparently our friends were receiving calls intended for us because details were jumbled at checkin. We understood that accidents can happen, but it was frustrating that after clarifying contact information? We still weren't getting the calls. Finally, My mom and I called to follow up and had the unfortunate experience of connecting with Thomas. It's hard not to get emotional as I write this, but Thomas was so disrespectful, exasperated and un empathetic. He became extremely defensive when out of frustration we expressed that it was a security violation to discuss our financial information and accommodations with someone else (friend or not). Thomas became extremely loud and aggressive. My elderly mother began to get emotional out of fear so I continued the conversation. Thomas said we needed to continue to wait for the manager, but then said he was also a manager. I asked if he could remedy the situation and he screamed that I was difficult and high maintenance. I tried to de escalate the situation, but he would not relent and eventually called me a derogatory name and hung up. I know that people can have bad days and that accidents happen. However, this was one thing after another and it was so disheartening that there wasn't any empathy or apologies for our experience from Thomas. I am honestly exploring what further action can be taken because we feel so disrespected and plain abused by Thomas. I have a feeling we won't be getting any money back and that we will also need to change our credit card so that further fees don't come out. Management needs to take a serious look at their employee Thomas and decide if they want someone intimidating their guests for the long-term. read more

When researching a place to stay in Astoria, we wanted to support a local business during our trip. We should have stayed in Long Beach, WA at Adrift like we usually do. We found this hotel for $179 a night. Had a nice view of the marina and Astoria Bridge. Upon check in, we were asked to make sure we were non-smokers as smoking it prohibited in rooms and on balconies. When we arrived in our room, we opened the sliding door to the balcony as the room was very hot inside. The room then filled with smoke as the guest below way using his balcony for a smoking deck. We reported this to the front desk right away. Desk staff was kind and friendly. In the bathroom, there was hair in the bathtub from the guest prior to us. (See picture) Not sure how housekeeping missed it as it was a handful of salt and pepper hair stuck to the tub. Gross. No problem. Just throw it away. We had a late check in and when the kids went to bed, the bunk beds had some sort of crumbs inside the sheets. The kids then just used the cushions from the chairs and made their own beds on the floor with blankets found in the closet. Stains on the carpet. Make sure you wear shoes at all times. Who knows what is on the floor. When we woke up and went to grab the continental breakfast, I called the office to complain if our stay so far. I mentioned the sheet situation and how the kids had to sleep on the floor of the room rather than in a clean bed. I was told that the sheets would be fixed while we were out today. We left at 9:00am and returned at 5:30pm tonight to find that the sheets were NOT changed. I AGAIN called the office to mention the sheets. Did they offer a new room? No. Discount? Nope. Nothing. I was told the sheets would be taken care of right away. A few minutes later, there was a knock on the door and a young man brought us fresh sheets...WADDED UP. Did he change the filthy crumb filled sheets out for fresh ones? Nope. Just gave us new sheets wadded up so that we can change them ourselves. We were issued a hotel room with dirty sheets and staff did NOTHING to make it right. They gave us the means to make it right ourselves. I will never recommend anyone stay here again. This has been a total disappointment for the price. We could have spent less and stayed in a place that we would expect to be a dump and had our expectations met. Instead, we paid a much higher price, expected clean beds, and were given filthy beds and zero effort to make it right. Do not stay here. I've called the front desk 3 times with issues and not once has there been an attempt to make our stay better. In fact, we have to change our own sheets when they were left filthy for us upon check in. Also... Hair in the bathtub. Disgusting. Too bad everywhere else is full tonight. I can't wait to get out of here. UPDATE: After discovering now issues with the room, we were promptly moved to the adjoining room next door. The new room was perfectly cleaned. I've updated the review from 1 star to 3 stars because the front desk staff was friendly and the new room is SIGNIFICANTLY cleaner. read more
