While the view from the room was outstanding and room size was good the building is falling apart needs major repairs and upgrades! I watch as staff stacked trash behind a gated fence because there was way more than the dumpster can hold. The breakfast was non functional as the hot water was broken and the juice machine was also broken. Our bed mattress needed replaced years ago. There is an huge amount of fishing boats and people paying to go out all around this hotel they need to do work to retain theas customers and bring in more this is an excellent spot just needs updated and cleaned up. The staff is friendly and are doing there best the keep this sinking ship afloat! Save this place before it goes under! read more

I stayed at this place and honestly the view was amazing. Our room was facing the pier and the ocean, and waking up to the sound of seagulls in the morning was really nice. The only downside, and honestly the most important one, was the cleanliness. It didn't feel properly cleaned. For example, I found hair in the bathroom, even men's hair, which made me uncomfortable and a bit doubtful about how well everything else was cleaned. It's a shame because everything else was good the location, the view, and even the breakfast (which was included and decent). But cleanliness is really important, and that part definitely needs improvement. read more

Rooms are tired and worn out. And even though they had a room available for us when we got here, there was a $25 charge for early check in. No thanks. The walls are so thin I heard every conversation from our neighbors. And heard every footstep over our head. With all that said, the view was great. But this was not a $300 room experience. Stayed here with my two grandchildren and the location was fantastic. We were able to walk to Bridgewater bistro and have an awesome awesome meal. However, the flies the bugs, no AC, outdated, stains on the bed, crumpled lampshade, all added to our distain for coming back unless we had to. Not much gluten-free options for the breakfast, but they did provide a free breakfast, which is nice. read more

Found this place on Expedia. It has a great location and a good breakfast is included. The check in was fast and friendly, the staff was pretty attentive. The downside was the curb appeal, it loos run down and our rooms were in the back building, where there was some construction or renovations happening. One of the rooms we booked had water dripping in the bathroom. Staff said it was condensation but we hadn't used the showers yet. We stayed for two nights and both slept poorly. The room itself and linens were clean, but the place needs an overhaul desperately. Lumpy mattress was our number one complaint. After two nights,we were exhausted from waking up off and on due to the hard spots in the mattress. They also had extension cords to hook the bedside lamps at each side of the bed, which was weird to me. They had a small clock on one of the bedside tables where you could plug in USB, plus one outlet, which I used for my CPAP but we both use CPAPS and my husband had to stretch the cord of his CPAP across the walking space to get into that side of the bed. That's when we noticed the extension cord situation. They also have ONE ice machine which is at the main desk where you check in. The rooms are all in back making it possible for all of the rooms to have a view. It's a Long walk back to the front desk for most of the rooms. In the past, We've always had an ice machine on the same floor as our room. Nope, not this place!! Beautiful view, but not worth the uncomfortable stay. *** DO NOT BOOK!! GUEST SEEN SMOKING CRACK ON BALCONY *** FULL DISCLOSURE: I booked a non refundable reservation via Expedia based on the pictures, marina view and the reviews (8/10). Me and my girl check in and spent a total of 4 minutes in our room. It looked NOTHING like the pictures being advertised. Everything looked 40 years old, nothing like the photos online when I booked. The room was dirty as well. Bed was sunken in completely. On top of that, it smelled like DEAD FISH inside and outside of the room. Unbearable. What they don't tell you is the property is adjacent to a fish factory. THE ICING ON THE CAKE: walked to look out at the marina view and there was a couple next door SMOKING CRACK ON THE PATIO!! We went back to the lobby to check out and it was PACKED. Didn't wanna make a scene, didn't want to alarm other guest out of respect. We could've easily made a scene, but we felt like our concerns we valid and we'd be treated with the same courtesy. Of course, we were prompted to connect with Expedia to start the process which their response was, "if the property waives the no cancelation policy, we'll gladly refund the money." Expedia e mailed the property and received no response. 3 days later we called back Expedia who in turn contacted the property. They said the GM would reach us directly in a few days. Few days came and went, but no call. Followed up and finally got connected with the person on duty that day, not the GM. Their response, "well since we didn't sell that room that nite we don't wanna be out that money." I explained again how Expedia is willing to eat the cost which the person stated they STILL won't waive the policy bc it's the GM decision. When I asked to speak to the GM, they said,"she's busy but I'll have her call you in a couple days..." out check in date was 7/17. Today is 7/28 with no response. read more

Me and my husband stayed at this, and as a part of our honeymoon trip, driving up the coast from California to Washington. All I can say is that the pictures online are super. Super misleading. Doesn't even look like the in at all. Everything is super outdated and there were stains everywhere on the carpet on the chairs and in the bathroom. I read reviews before I booked two nights at the Astoria Riverwalk, so I understood that it was old and not the cleanest, but I wanted the marina view and am not that picky. Despite my low expectations I was shocked to find poop splatters inside and on the toilet. Otherwise, the room was ok, and I loved the view. Unfortunately, worse than the poop splatters was the hard, flat and sloped bed mattress. No cushion at all. It was the worst bed I've ever slept in at a hotel in this country. At least the sheets were clean. This was room 144. King-sized bed, pet friendly room. The breakfast was gross! My dog like the eggs and pork sausage patties though. This was such a disappointing experience for my family. The hotel is absolutely in need of updating. The room we initially were in was supposed to be a themed room, but the door handle broke off when we got there and there was garbage on the floor. In addition, the bathroom was dirty with hairs everywhere. The staff did switch our room to a non-themed one, but did not compensate us for the difference. The other room was just as dirty. Astoria Riverwalk Inn - Disappointing Service Despite a Beautiful Location We stayed at the Astoria Riverwalk Inn from Saturday, December 27 through Sunday, December 28. While the room itself faces the river and the view is genuinely beautiful, the level of service was extremely disappointing and overshadowed what could have been a great stay. Upon arrival, we were not issued room keys because their system was down. This meant that every single time we needed to enter our room, we had to wait for someone at the front desk to come unlock it for us. Since there usually seemed to be only one person working, this often involved a long wait. The staff overall appeared very young and lacked any sense of urgency or customer service. At no point did anyone seem concerned about the inconvenience we were experiencing. To make matters worse, our room had only one towel for two guests. We notified the front desk at 7:00 p.m. Saturday night but were told we couldn't receive additional towels until 9:00 a.m. the next morning. When we called again Sunday morning, the front desk attendant said she couldn't leave the desk to bring towels--yet when I drove to the front desk myself (this is a cottage-style property and our room was at the far end), there were three employees working. Still, no one offered to bring the towels. For a room costing $162 per night, this level of service is unacceptable. The issue isn't walking or driving to the desk--it's the complete lack of care or effort to resolve basic guest needs. Finally, we woke up Sunday morning to ants all over the counters and tables. Ants everywhere. When this was mentioned to the front desk, the response was indifferent at best. This is unfortunate because the rooms themselves are decent, and the balconies and river views are lovely. The potential is absolutely there--but without competent, attentive service, this property falls far short. It's sad to see such a great location undermined by poor management and customer care. read more

This hotel is right on the water along the Southend of the riverwalk. It looks like it's been around for a long time as both the exterior and interior look dated and weathered. The room I stayed in had two twins. The carpet looked old and worn and the bathroom showed signs of some water damage or mildew. The view of the harbor and bridge were beautiful and it was definitely nice to have a balcony to use. The hotel had plenty of parking available and a complimentary breakfast. The location was pretty good as it was within walking distance to the riverwalk and some restaurants. If I return to Astoria I'd probably stay somewhere northeast/east along the riverwalk, but this hotel is a decent stay if you can get a good nightly rate. read more

Great location! The view is wonderful. This place has sooo much potential if the owners would renovate. We paid about $250 for a room on a Thursday night which seems to be affordable for the area. Breakfast was decent with a beautiful view. One thing to be aware of: they advertise with #nosizeorbreedreateictions then want to know what breed your dog is. Weird. They also charge PER dog which is not mentioned anywhere when booking. My only actual complaint would be the smell in the room: it smells like human urine. Luckily, it's July and we were able to sleep with the door open. Next time we are in Astoria we will splurge and get a room at the Cannery. read more

This is the second time that we have stayed at this affordable Inn. Our rooms have been good with terrific views both times. This time, we had room 153 on the bottom floor. It was a very nice corner room with balconies on both sides. The only thing we would change is asked for the second floor so we don't get heavy footed people above us. We also love that the Bridgewater bistro is just a short walk from the Inn. We visited there both nights and the food and ambience is terrific! We'll be staying here again next visit. read more

I was here a couple years ago for a getaway with my hubby. We actually enjoyed our stay last time. Was it the absolute best place, no. It had some cosmetic downsides before, but it had a beautiful view and the bed was decent and the water pressure was great. We decided to get away for the weekend and come here again......probably not again after this. The view isn't worth the back pain. Pretty sure I slept with a spring in my rib all night, we both got very little sleep. The last place I stayed that had a mattress this bad was a budget hotel. The baseboards and sealant around the tub could use some replacing. A lot can be overlooked with a decent mattress and a goodnight sleep. The sunrise from the view is why it gets 2 stars. This is an older motel. Keep in mind, this is also an affordable motel, compared to the rest. Yes it is older, and needs a bit of a facelift, but it was clean, and comfortable. Could have been worse but for $2++.00 I would expect a little more effort. You know those places? The ones where you don't take your socks off or you pull out your shower flip flops? That's it, that's the one. The floors were very dirty, the walls too and every counter top had dog hair on it. Now when you pay for a hotel room that allows dogs and you pay the dog fee you would expect they are prepared to clean up. But there was dog food in the bathroom, I mean that's easy to pick up! The refrigerator smelled of garlic and the lightbulbs make you feel like you are in a creepy subway station. The bathroom tile has not been probably cleaned in years, the grout tells the story. The furniture could use a little shout, maybe a magic spot he bc some past guest had a dribble problem and the carpets, they look clean but again, dog hair for dayZ! So at least I know I was given the right room, for dogs! I love dogs, so that's the best part! Oh and the door, a football player might be the best guest for this door bc it never opens and is always stuck. Oh wait! I almost forgot the fab in the bathroom make an awful sound BUT get this! There is no fan! When you walk into the lobby they have a sign that says they are under staffed(for $2++.00 a night! Staff!!! And staff with good cleaners and pay them bc they will be your bread and butter! You can have an old establishment(which this place is) and it CAN BE CLEAN AND NICE(look at almost all of Europe!)! But this place is not clean and it is not maintained. And it is a REAL bummer because the location is AMAZING!! The views are stunning and to be honest if they cleaned the place up $2++.00 would be too cheap! We went to dinner at the Bowmen Hotel(I do recommend paying a little more! Great food and a soak with a view) and on our way we tan into some locals to talk food, they rolled their eyes when I told them where we were staying. Lesson learned. We had quite a pleasant stay at the Riverwalk Inn in Astoria. The rooms were spacious with two sinks and a large comfy bed. There is also a mini fridge and microwave in the room. No cleaning the rooms between days of your stay, but that seems to be the norm these days. I don't mind at all. As for amenities: They have free bike rentals, which makes it really easy to get around the town! The bikes are new and in good shape, and they provide a lock along with it. Breakfast was also pretty good. They had these delicious chocolate chip waffles, along with biscuits and gravy, oatmeal and a few other things. And every night they turn on the little fire pit by the lobby, which makes for a nice hang out area at the end of the day. read more

The stairs to the floor to our room appeared unsafe. The manager was very unaccommodating when we got there early and wanted to charge us more to check in early, although the room was ready. Sadly this property continues to decline and deteriorate, through inadequate investment in maintenance. Fabulous marina and bridge view, but when a person can't get a good night's sleep due to an ancient mattress that should have been replaced years ago, the view isn't adequate compensation. Giving the owners credit, they have made a partial bathroom remodel since we stayed last, and the balcony furniture was in good shape. But, inside the room, the floors sag toward the front door, wind blows through the closed door (we stuffed ours with papers at night), carpet visibly dirty, housekeeping only scheduled after 3 days . The building is visibly in bad shape -- gutters missing, roof visibly ancient. If we had known, we would not have stayed here. read more
