The room served its purpose. Room was basic with dollar tree decor. Mattress was still the spring bed minus box spring. No phone to the front desk/lobby. Our room was right off the highway which was concerning and PAPER thin walls so shhhhhh! Oh bring a lock... no extra locking mechanism except for the typical hotel lock. 3 star due to the lack customer service. The front desk attendant displayed a noticeably standoffish attitude. Each time we approached her with a request, she responded as though we were inconveniencing her and often came across as condescending. She was unable to assist with our television issue, and when I asked about bottled water, she insisted that it was replenished daily. After repeatedly explaining that none had been provided, she finally, and rather begrudgingly, told me to take two bottles from the office. read more

Decent place to stay while in Long Beach. It was situated in the middle of town, easy walking to to much of the business. Smallish lot but there is additional street parking in front. First impression of the property was a very spartan lobby. Just the front desk and a table against the wall with hot water and coffee and an assortment of tea, coffee packets and cookies. Our room faced the main street. Just steps from the sidewalk and into the room. The room itself was clean with wood laminate floors, 2 comfortable beds and tons of pillows. There were ample towels and a TV which offered more than your usual hotel channels. The only thing was that it didn't have AC, just a stand fan. The fan was plenty powerful but it still was pretty warm and stuffy in the room. We didn't even consider opening the windows since they opened into the street. It was a bit noisy from the street traffic and we could hear our neighbors. The fan obscured much of the noise though. The room had the usual amenities like shampoo, conditioner. All in all, it was comfortable for our one night stay but for the price we paid, I expected something more than a street facing room and no AC. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Coastal Inn and Suites only for one night on July 6. In the future, when going to long Beach this will be the first place I call for reservations. The remodeled rooms were very nice. Laminate flooring, which I prefer over carpeted floors. We stayed in the King bedroom Suite, which had a fully equipped full-sized kitchen. Beautiful remodeled bathroom, comfortable bed and great location in the heart of town. They even provided a doggie basket complete with a towel, blanket, two bowls and dog biscuits. Barb, the host was absolutely a pleasure to talk with and very accommodating. Five stars to her. read more

The lint that I DUG out of the dryer vent after smelling something extremely hot. This place also woke us up scraping black mold off the ceiling next door during their own quiet hours, and then their manager stole my husband's cell phone. We realized we left it and called to confirm they had it. We were instructed to email a prepaid UPS label which I did, however it was never printed and the manager told me she "took it to the post office herself" but refuses to share a tracking number she claims she got. the post office also states they would never accept and scan a UPS package (and give tracking) as she states. that was how 3 weeks ago, still no return emails, phone calls, or phone.... I honestly wish I could give more stars!!! My husband wanted to surprise me for Mother's Day and take our family to the beach for a little R&R and family time. He was hinting at something but wouldn't tell me what. Since he is horrible at keeping secrets, I got him to cave and tell me he booked all of us a room... I was super bummed to tell him that he had to cancel because I have to be at work on Saturday. Super bummer because he went so out of his way to plan a surprise and let me tell you, he's not a planner! When he called to cancel the room, he was told that we would charged due to a late notice of cancellation because we were within 3 days of check in... COMPLETELY understandable as I plan events for a living and HELLO! Room at the beach, specially on Mother's Day weekend... prime real estate! He explained to Cecilia that we weren't planning to completely cancel but that we needed to just move weekends. She said she would contact her manager and see what she could do for him. She ended up calling him back within 10 minutes to let him know that they are completely booked the following weekend (Memorial Day weekend) but they had availability the weekend after. WE'LL TAKE IT! Instead of giving us very little to work with, Cecilia saved our family beach weekend!! My husband was so impressed with how she handled the situation that he had to call back to ask for her name so he can hopefully thank her when we visit! As I go to Yelp for basically everything, I knew I needed to write a glowing review of not only this establishment, but the employees they have! Great employees make a business! We will be sure to tell everyone we know about this cute little place as well as how amazing Cecilia is to work with! Best part, we haven't even stayed here yet! Had to post an update... Pros- clean room, evening staff was friendly, selection of board games to take out for free, beds were comfortable, exterior is clean and well-maintained. I'm really disappointed this time. They are dog friendly, but while filling out our reservation it does not ask how many dogs and that there is an extra fee even after giving a "taxes & fees total ". Buried deep at the bottom of the policy after scrolling many paragraphs it says there's a $20 per dog per night fee. Our three nights stay added an extra $120. It was advertised as having a television in the bedroom and it doesn't it showed pictures of, not only a couch, but a chair also with side tables and lamps and there was only the couch. The beautiful dining room table and four chairs was barely a step up from a card table with very flimsy aluminum chairs. The bathroom was enormous with more storage than I've ever seen anywhere, but I'm not sure we'll come back. The living area was very big but felt hollow. read more

I used to love this little hotel, but they have made lots of changes over the past few years that make it less appealing. The most notable change to me is the lack of any management staff on property. I had to call to get the code to my room, which wasn't terrible, but I miss being able to borrow movies and board games in the lobby. The lobby is completely closed down. They also removed all the outdoor furniture, which is a real bummer. It was nice to sit outside in the mornings with a cup of coffee. Rooms are clean, but they can be quite noisy depending on your neighbor. I probably could have overlooked all of that, but the one staff member that was present in the morning during checkout time was really rude. That sealed the deal for me. I won't be staying here anymore, unfortunately. It isn't a terrible spot, but it completely lacks the laid back and charming beach vibe it used to have. There are far better options in Long Beach for the price. read more

OK, for starters expect a motor inn type hotel. With that in mind this place isn't that bad if you're just expecting to spend the night cheaply; however my wife and I didn't expect that based on the reviews and what was advertised. The other reviews mentioning no one was on site are correct. You do need to go to another hotel owned by the same owner to check in. We weren't aware of this. When checking in the last made it obvious she was not interested in explaining the policy or pretty much anything, she handed me the policy and told me to read it, sign it, and return it. I had to ask how we were going to get into the room. The room appeared clean until we started taking a closer look and discovered it wasn't. We removed the comforter but the sheets appeared clean so we just heated the room until we were comfortable. We also found mold in our room. The hotel is primarily a single story suite of rooms and you will be near the road so expect to hear loud noises. Finally, and this is why I rate this place a 1. The rooms fail any safety inspection, there was not a single sprinkler or smoke detector in our room. We also weren't able to lock the door. There was no dead bolt, anyone with the code could open the door at any time and since we were street level facing the street that could pretty much be anyone. read more

What a sketchy place. Beware of unauthorized additional credit card charges! They charged my credit card an additional $45 for a small dog I told them I was bringing when I made my reservation. There is no front office on property and they communicate with you through texting. When I disputed the charge, they simply ignored me and didn't return texts. The room itself was very small and had horrible circulation. You couldn't even leave the bathroom door open after a shower because of the humidity. Do yourself a favor and don't stay here! read more

This is written 3/31/13 regarding our stay during 3/16/13 - 3/18/13. We found The Coastal Inn online and chose them vs. Adrift Inn or the WorldMark, despite being long time members. Coincidentally, we met Kristin (one of the owners) at the Visitors Center in Seaview - figured that's a good sign! It is a centrally located spot with the beach and local businesses all within walking distance. Check-in with both Kristin and Joshua was very warm and welcoming. Our room was reasonably priced, clean, comfortable and had a flat-screen TV and mini fridge/microwave/coffee service. We were pretty much out and about during our stay, but it was great to have a relaxing place to call home during our 3 day weekend. We were lucky that we had quiet and respectful guests in the adjoining units and traffic noise wasn't a problem, since we all slept soundly or maybe because we were still visiting off season and we got plenty of walking and ocean fresh air. Other options: DVD player/movies to loan, beach quad cycle, and there's also fresh fruit and waffles in the reception/check-in area each morning. One thing to mention to future visitors to the Long Beach Peninsula: Make sure to bring or purchase a Discover Pass when you visit any of the park sites ($10 daily or $30 annual). To get any amenities (including toilet paper), you must walk to the other hotel and get the items. The rooms are SUPER TINY, you open the door and if you are sitting on the bed, you smack your knees. They are not truthful on the Manager availability, they do not mention that there is NO ATTENDANT on duty. THIS HOTEL SCAMS YOU INTO BELIEVING YOU ARE STAYING THERE AS NORMAL AND SENDS YOU TO ANOTHER HOTEL FOR EVERYTHING! You book and stay at the Coastal Inn and Suites (suites is pushing it), but you DO NOT HAVE ANYONE WORKING THERE. And don't ask for a manager to call, because you will NOT get a response. We stayed here on March 13, 2015. Some friends and I had a couple of days off and decided to check out long beach but after a 4 hour drive, we ended up arriving there way too late. This was the cheapest place opened for booking late at night so we didnt expect much. To our surprise, the staff at the front desk was extremely friendly. Maria, our housekeeper, did a great job of making sure everything was comfy and clean! We stayed in the cutest little yet spacious room that included a king sized bed, a queen and a hide-a-bed couch. The atmosphere was very homey. Good choice of complimentary shower stuff! The facial soap made my skin extra soft and smelled great! The room had a heater/air conditioner so its extremely cozy for any weather. The office had some free DVDs to rent, so we stayed in and watched a couple of movies. They had bikes and beach towels for rent as well! Our mini vacation couldn't have ended any better without the complimentary fresh homemade waffles for breakfast! We just returned home from our trip to Long Beach. We had never been, so were just relying on the hotel's website and reviews from other people. We were quite happy with our selection when we arrived. The hotel is on the main street going through town, and there are a ton of little shops, restaurants, a family fun center, and rides all on this street. The beach is only two blocks over. The check-in was easy and the woman working was very friendly. She informed me that there were board games and movies to check out and a DVD player in the room. How fun! We grabbed a couple of games and movies. We chose room number 20, which has two queen-size beds, a couch, a chair, and a giant flat-screen TV. It was plenty of room for two adults and a child, was clean, and the beds were very comfortable. There is also a mini refrigerator and microwave in this room. Breakfast is served from 8 to 9:30 each day, so we absolutely took advantage of that. Options include waffles, muffins, fruit, cereal, English muffins, toast, juice, milk, coffee, and tea. The dining area is also a small coffee shop later on in the day. We stayed for two nights, and had we been able to, I would have preferred to stay another. There was just so much to do! We have decided that this is our new yearly tradition and we will definitely be back to the Coastal Inn and Suites. read more

Don't bother. Poor management, rude customer service from the General Manager. No heat in our room for 2 nights although we were told that it would be fixed. No offer for reasonable compensation. They offered 10% off of 2 nights of our 3 night stay. The General Manager hung up on me when I declined the 10% refund. This was a holiday weekend and there was no where else open to stay. Expedia worked with me to resolve the issue but management at this establishment would not talk to them. Expedia offered me reasonable compensation but Coastal Inn and Suites did not. Be warned! If only I could give a zero star rating on this company, I would! Imagine walking into your assigned unit to find someone else's belongings all over the place. We waited over a half hour outside for someone to come and assess the situation. The gentleman on duty told me he reset the lock code on the door after the last guests and stated he had no idea someone was in there. I should have seen the red flags when that same gentleman checked me in at the front desk without asking to see any identification or credit card. The front desk offered no solution and when we asked to use the restroom (after a long drive), stated we had to use the city/public restroom down the block. Feeling unsafe, and very skeptical about the the claims of the room being cleaned before our arrival, we asked for a refund which was given along with a half assed apology. So, on a holiday weekend, in a coastal town, we had no place to stay. Ended up driving an hour away to stay somewhere else. read more

With all the positive reviews I definitely expected more. The room was miniscule. Hardly enough room to move around with two people and our dog. It was quite dirty as well. Walls needed scrubbing. I understand salt water is hard on everything but I feel this place needs to be renovated entirely. Lots of water damage to drywall and evidence of mold problems. Our bed while comfortable was extremely squeaky. Their policy states you cannot leave your dog in the room. That's pretty common. It also says you cannot leave it in the car. While I understand some people are not the best pet parents which likely triggered this policy what are we supposed to do with our dog while we explore the town? The pros: Good location. I paid nearly $1000. for a three day stay. The room was in the back of an old building, the front of which looked vacant except for old junk left in the vacant spaces. The rooms in back were newly remodeled and clean, however the promised internet didn't work. The shower curtain was inadequate and allowed water to spill all over there bathroom floor no matter how we tried to stop it from happening. There was no closet, no place to hang cloths. There was a table and chairs that had been painted with some kind of sticky paint next to a small kitchenette. Our plates would stick to the table, and there were rings on the table where a cup had lifted the paint right off the table. It was strange and we didn't want to put anything that was even slightly wet for fear of lifting the paint. The light in the bathroom had two different color bulbs in the fixture. The main room light switch was not in the normal place next to the door, but rather under the window and hidden by the curtains. It took us a while to find it. The wall mounted TV was not straight and instead of being mounted over the bracket and wires, it was placed in such a way as to leave the wires and bracket exposed below the set. There was no secure key card, a simple code got you in, leaving the room vulnerable to onlookers. I was very unhappy with this stay! If I could give a lower score than one star, I would. Over all a very nice stay. Clean room as others have mentioned, comfy bed nice linens. It did get unseasonably warm this week but there's a large fan in the room which also helped provide white noise. My heart sunk when I saw a family of 4 clomping up the stairs into the room above me but I was not disturbed. It's a dinky motel so I feel like it's fair to expect some closeness between the rooms. Other plusses, a robe for after showering, high end towels, ice cube tray with ice made. I travel with my own coffee because you don't normally get fresh ground coffee in the room. They recently installed hardwood flooring which ads a clean look and feel, especially since they take dogs. The staff were welcoming and fawned over my dog. The room would benefit from a few amenities but I realize I had the smallest room so this is nit picky. The staff went beyond expectations and found me a can opener for my dog's food. I bought one with a note suggesting they leave it in the room for others. Salt and pepper might have been nice since I had take out a couple meals. They only provide paper coffee cups and no fork or spoon so I had to scramble to keep from eating my stir fry with a stir stick. Dog dish for the room might be nice maybe? The TV remote is on it's last legs but I let them know. The last visitors should have alerted the motel owner about that. Priced fairly since no view, good location to walk everywhere. read more

Very Late Arrival: Friday, May 28, 2016. Memorial Day weekend... After driving for 5+ hours I was so glad to see a friendly face...Mark. We arrived around 11/11:30 PM and for a "Late Check-in" you call a number and at lightning speed the owner (Mark) hopped in his car and came to check us in. I booked a 2 queen bed room and Mark put us in #20. Such a sweet man. He gave us material on the happenings around the island and informed us of the island-wide garage sale going on that weekend. (HUGE) Getting to the room...we opened the door and were amazed at the size. It has a TV, couch, 4 drawer dresser, 3 bedside tables, 2 lamps, 2 queen beds, nice sized frig, microwave, small coffee maker with ground coffee and the fix'ns, nice thick drapes, shower is huge, toilet flush is very quiet, bathroom fan is a wee bit loud... also has a blow-dryer, bath soap, shampoo, body lotion and makeup remover towelettes (I didn't use). The rooms are decorated with pictures of sea/boating paraphernalia, sea shells and starfish and I love the sign that says, "Mermaids are Welcome" My nose can usually smell anything like cig smoke, mold and mildew but this room smelled lovely and fresh, the heater also works like a charm. Turned it on once, to heat the room when we got there, and turned it off and it stayed warm the rest of the night. Don't know if we can use it but...there is a BBQ in the backyard....after my own heart here. The whole room and bathroom was spotless. The bathroom was like new, bright-white. I used to do housekeeping in hotels so I just had to check around the bottom of the toilet and under the toilet seat and there was not 1 speck of dirt or hair anywhere...these people are very good and clean. The mattress was amazing, harder than what I have at home but it felt like heaven, I'll be looking for a new matress now. The pillows...I don't know what they're made of but I am definitely going to find them, maybe memory foam but it seemed a wee bit denser. I have back and neck problems and I slept like a baby. Of course, the way my husband and son snore, the ear-plugs helped too. The next morning, I could hear this lovely wooden musical sound outside so I looked and the wind was blowing ever so slight on this bamboo chime down the way, such a peaceful, relaxing sound. Upon checkout, they were setting up for the island-wide garage sale so it was really hopping in the lobby. They also sell cool sweatshirts there too. We went to the next connecting room where there was a complimentary continental breakfast splay of juice, milk, muffins, syrups, honey and you can make your own waffles if you like. If regular coffee doesn't turn your crank to get your motor started, then there is another connecting room where there is a little espresso shop with complimentary regular coffee and tables to sit at and enjoy your breakfast. They do charge for the specialty coffee's/espresso/mochas...less than Starbucks too. I would absolutely definitely recommend staying here. We WILL be back. Loved the hard wood floors since we had 3 kids and a dog in the room. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, arcade and shopping. I really don't see how this place gets such his reviews i really don't. The room we had was so tiny for 2 adults and 1 13 year old How tiny was it. so tiny you had to go outside to change your mind. the "dresser" had holes drilled into the top like something was mounted there but maintenance must of been sleeping or didn't know how to plug holes up to make it look good. Daughter went to take a bath as the tub was filling all off a sudden a big Whoosh of the drain opening well the drain wouldn't seal again after that. The little dorm fridge almost didn't feel like it was getting down to temp even after i set the thing to go colder. Ah even though we are on the coast and the temps stay mild the rooms are Hot as heck if you close the window the pedestal fan the offer does nothing more then blow the hot air side around and there is no form of AC whatsoever. With that said the rooms are very well insulated even between room walls neighbors had 4 little ankle bitters *dogs* But I could only hear them due to their window and ours being open you close the window very quiet no dog barking heard or having to listen to the other rooms TV playing. OH now on to the Free Breakfast. Its okay milk oj, coffee , tea and hot coco. Waffles, muffins sausage and hard boil eggs and bread. The Catch- They overload their circuit breaker the unit to keep the milk and oj cold is on it along with the waffle maker, electric kettle for hot water, the slow cooker to keep the sausage warm and a Toaster and i think a Microwave in another room and the TV set.. The Staff i will admit are great and they do keep the rooms clean and keep them looking cute. read more
