Two sales ladies came to my door offering services. They quoted me a price that was lower then I am currently paying. We discussed hardware and if I could utilize my current modem/router. I was assured ATT would provide the required hardware at no additional cost. I agreed to proceed with the order. We set up the delivery date and time before they left. Because I was only ordering Internet I was told there would be no credit check. I received results of a credit check that was done with the wrong spelling of my name in the mail that indicates there may be additional costs. After reviewing the paperwork I had it said I would be receiving a confirmation email within 24 hours. I never received an email perhaps because of the misspelled name or the fact that they didn't enter my email address on the order. So I made a call to the number on the paper. After a 5 minute hold I was able to check status of the installation. The time was not the same as we had agreed to. I worked my way thru the phone tree to a specialist (all of the people I worked with were professional and pleasant) who went over the order with me. We discovered the price was now higher then I am currently paying, my name got correctly spelled and email added and the tech had already been dispatched to my house, 4 hours prior to the agreed time. In addition as we all know nothing is free and there would be a fee for the modem. At this point I asked to cancel everything. I was transfered to Customer Retention. Once again we discussed everything that was wrong and she was determined to ensure customer satisfaction. She agreed that she too would not have confidence in a service that had such a mess up front but could give me numbers to call for any new issues that may come up. My phone began to receive a call. Guess who, it was the tech saying he was here for the install. I finally was able to convince them I did not want the install due to all the red flags and cancelled the install. I truly feel as if I dodged a bullet coming from ATT. read more

AT&T gave me a good deal last year for cable and internet for 12 months. After the 12 months, my bill went up. I called them to cancel my cable and just keep internet. They said well what if we just keep your bundle price the same and just lower your internet speed by a little. I said ok, I'll keep the cable and internet bundle for the price staying the same. The following month, I noticed my bill was still way over the same price I was promised, then they charged me for not returning equipment when I never cancelled service. Spoke with sales rep Sal who told me he would take care of getting me set up with internet, TV and phone at new house. Installer Justin comes and installs my modem and 3 wireless receivers for TV and one receiver that is directly connected to modem. For the first 10 days the TVs were very glitchy which made for irritating TV watching. I talk to Sal who said get a wifi extender cause your house is too big and it should solve problem. I go put and buy Google wifi extender 255.00. I get home follow all the instructions and my internet is blazing fast and reliable. I then realize all my wifi boxes are not working but, my wired one is. I goto the gateway which gives signal to receivers and reset. Still nothing, I run through all the trouble shooting still no TV. Next day which is day 13 of service I call and spent 1 hour 39 minutes on the phone with att. Just trying to get the wireless boxes removed and wired boxes installed. Only to be told we value you as a customer and we will have someone out in 6 days to swap the boxes out. I then feel that the solution is a horrible one and ask for them to pick up equipment and I will go with Spectrum. Then I was told that will cost you 360.00. I scheduled my internet/cable to be connected on 6/16. A specialist came out and told us that wiring needed to be connected to the house. I received a call from Lisa at the Buried Wire Center who assured me that they expect that this will be completed by or before 6/22. This date came and went and after calling several times I was told that it would now be completed by 6/26. I still have not received one call from anyone at AT&T. On 6/26 I did see that AT&T wired another house two houses down that was VACANT. Why could the contractor not complete mine while he was near by??? THE worst customer service ever! Last November I called to have my wireless and internet bills combined. They asked if I wanted TV. I said no. They said what if we give it to you free for one year, plus free HBO and Cinemax for free for three months? I said OK. It was installed, but they charged me the full rate. I never noticed on my bill until recently. Before the three months was up, I called to cancel the HBO and Cinemax. That wasn't done. I called a few weeks ago to point out the error, and they finally removed HBO and Cinemax from my bill. They still were charging me full rate for TV, however. Today I called to straighten everything out and get the overcharges refunded, but they refused to give me more than a $100 "courtesy" credit. The overcharges amounted to over $600. Our tv and internet service constantly drops or stops working. I have wasted sooo much time with their techs coming to my house to run the same tests over and over. You would think they would try to fix the problem which is their line buried from the box to our house but they refuse to fix it. In fairness, the AT&T cell coverage, internet strength, and cable connections are average to above average. The installers are cheerful and competent. Just PRAY that you do not have issues with billing or service cancellation/modification. Because if you do, you'll enter a twilight zone of disembodied robo-voices which will continually misinterpret your requests and often--halfway through a critical transaction--drop your call altogether. If you then insist on talking to a human being, you'll be transferred to Alexis from Yugobania, who will, from a room crowded with hundreds of other transoceanic "techs", repeatedly wish you a good day and thank you for being an AT&T customer despite your boiling-point anxieties bubbling around yet unresolved (and often unacknowledged) issues. Upgrading to a 3 as the technicians came out again and changed out some equipment...it's working much better but it's ridiculous that it took 3 visits over 3 months plus many hours of me on the phone to tech service to figure it out. ---------------------------------- expensive and unreliable. i have 45mbps internet - speed tests register all over the place and i am constantly kicked off or video is buffering. when the tech established service it was blazing fast and over the past couple of months has degraded. i had another tech come out last week who adjusted some of the settings and it's working slightly better but still buffering frequently or not connecting. i work from home often and have a hard time getting files to upload, forget about VOIP or video calls. the included tv service only works if you place the TV close to the modem...my tv is on a different floor so it's useless. good thing it's included free. horrible. i'm only continuing as a customer because i hate time warner/comcast/etc. more and i dread spending 3 hours on the phone trying to cancel my account. the only positive thing i can say is the techs who have come out on service calls have been very nice. i really hope google fiber is in my neighborhood by the time my contract ends. read more

My dealing with AT&T U-Verse is the worst customer service experience I've ever had. I ended up cancelling the service before it was ever installed. It's a long story but I'll say it consisted of the installation day being pushed back three times, hours on hold and trying my best to speak with to people who can barely speak English, and errors on the first bill (before I even had service). When I needed phone service transferred from a business location to home office, I contacted AT&T to transfer the service. The initial order included Direct TV, a land line and high speed internet service. From the beginning, there were problems. For instance, the first hour I spent on the phone with AT&T to place the order was a total waste because the order did not get into their system. I then spent another hour re-placing the order. The Direct TV installation went fine. That's the only thing that went well. The rest of the experience was dreadful! When the technician came out to set up the land line installation, it was only then that he discovered that it would require fiber optics and the installation was delayed. My phone service was disrupted for more than 24 hours at one point. It turned out that AT&T could not set up the internet service at my home location. Good thing I didn't cancel my previous high speed internet provider or I would really have been in a pickle! They had mailed me a modem which had to be returned to get. An AT&T representative told me on the phone that I could return it to a nearby AT&T location. But when I took the modem to the location, they informed me they could not accept it, that it had to be mailed back. That trip was another waste of my time. The way their customer service system is set up, any one detail could only be handled by one department, and the next detail had to be handled by someone in another department. AT&T Internet - Internet Service Providers Near Me

We've had AT&T U-verse internet service since 2009. For the first several years it was great! Fast, reliable service, never had any cause to call up customer service. Over the past couple of years, service has got progressively worse and more unreliable. Now our internet service goes out at least twice a week. We thought maybe it was an issue with the modem (it was getting long in the tooth), so we had it replaced, but the problems persist. Advertising has also gotten extremely aggressive since Google Fiber announced they were bringing service to the Austin area. I get mailers literally every two weeks. I've called their customer service multiple times and they swear up and down that they'll stop sending me solicitations. The first time I called, mailings stopped for a couple of months and then started up again. The last few times, they didn't even go through that pretense. It's gotten to the point that I'm reporting them to USPS for "offensive material" and looking at alternative internet providers, since Google isn't in our neighborhood yet. read more

I moved and filled out their change of address form on their AT&T website and I haven't had internet service since Sunday, when they turned it off, thinking they were turning off my service at my old apartment. Even though I still have the same AT&T modem and it was working just fine in my new place. After four days and hours of being on hold with 5 or 6 different people in Uverse Support, Sales, and Tech Support, I still have no internet service at home four days later. I even used the Chat feature on their website, thinking it would be quicker and it is not. I was at work "chatting" with another AT&T moron who said she was creating a new account at my new address, which is what I was told on Monday and Tuesday. Incredibly poor internet for what you pay for. I had it at South Lamar two years ago and it was slow and intermittent. Moved to Southeast Austin off of Oltorf and it's still slow and intermittent even paying for 500gbps! And my family had it in northeast Florida for six years before we went with Xfinity. Had to switch because bandwidth was awful. I'm convinced someone twists a knob somewhere to constrict your bandwidth. Have no issues for a month after someone comes out to fix and then issues start up again. If you have another option go for it. read more

I GIVE THEM ONE STAR BECAUSE THERE'S NOT A LOWER OPTION They are certainly reliable. By that I mean reliably falling short of what they promise, what one would reasonably expect from a former telecom titan well into the 21st century, and the QoS that must be available in a mushrooming tech city. And it's only (allegedly) 45 Mbs, not exactly pushing the envelope of technology or service. The Internet service (and therefore the accompanying digital TV) is subject to frequent interruptions, both momentary and prolonged. Bandwidth fluctuation (and intentional throttling no doubt) results in slow downloads and pixelated or frozen live TV images. In fact, the same problems afflict playing back recorded program (when one can actually access them). Modem, Gateway and DVRs require tedious, manual resetting often more than once at a time and sometimes more than once a day. They've been great about sending us new modems, Gateways, DVRs and solicitous, hardworking tech specialists. But, no tech service person, no matter how competent and diligent, can overcome inside my home and office the defects and deficiencies of their network and premises hardware. I am not a satisfied customer, but there's no viable alternative unless I relocate to someplace supplied by Google. or to Chattanooga, TN, where gigabit fiber based Internet service is ubiquitously available with terrific QoS for less than I pay for 45 Mbs. AT&T is terrible. They lied and told me I had to have direct tv to have the internet, they get me stuck into a contract, which now I cannot get out of. When I spoke to a supervisor in December he told me I don't have to have the tv to have the internet, but asked me to please keep it, to give it a try, since they upgraded my internet service (it works off of a cell phone tower bc I live in the country). He said that if then, the internet was sufficient to call back and he would cancel everything. I get an email that I have gone over my data, so the internet obviously isn't a fit, so I call back today to tell them I want to go ahead abs cancel as it hasn't worked out. They proceed to tell me I owe them $800+ for the cancellation of the contract I was lied into getting, and the overage fees for the internet I was trying to cancel in the first place. Have you ever noticed the service level of approx. 90% of the ATT employees. I can't blame them entirely but partly, not their fault they feel they have to recite the ATT Pledge of robbing the customers from their hard earned cash. We should just stand on the street corner and raise our arms up and say please come and take it ATT we don't care. Very sad when you do a live chat and they can't even get the story or answer correctly. The internet, tv and cell phone services have started to go to the (I will use the nice term) POOPER. Example: We cancelled the home phone number - never used it why have it - I live chatted today and the explained that my bill was reflecting a charge for non disclosure on the home phone (the one I cancelled months ago. I asked how can this be - uuuuhhhh well, your getting a great deal on your service plan - I said well do you consider my bill being 229 (for uverse only) (200 for cell phone) all of sudden a great deal, because really if you do you are more than welcome to turn your money over to me and pay it. I explained to him and to his supervisor who personally called me from timbuctoo (you know somewhere out in the middle of nowhere) lost in a warehouse, stuck in a cubicle and reciting the old faithful ATT Lines of your getting the best deal, we are the best company. NO I'M NOT and NO YOUR NOT THE BEST COMPANY. The companies practices is cause for all the class action law suits. By the way 8 minutes of hold with the Supervisor trying to get someone in the complaint department to take my call I disconnected (8 minutes to long wouldn't you say) I am so tired of ATT I am now on the hunt in the Austin / Round Rock area for a service that will be seamless in the transferring of services for we work out of the home. I have been a U-verse subscriber since April. So far service has been spotty at best, non-existent at least for one whole week out of each month. We have had at least 5 technicians come for support. Each one has diagnosed a different issue with no tangible results. U-verse has truly impressed me by making me miss the terrible TimeWarner connection we had before we moved. I am given only 3 choices of Internet providers in my area, and due to my SO's relationship with AT&T I evidence to give you a chance. Yesterday your tech wasn't able to set up Internet due to a damaged wire that would need to be replaced, and then this morning I get a call that I am being denied service because my house (mine, but no one around me) is too far away from your facilities to receive your service. That is just pure laziness and the practices of a horrible company. They say your family, they say they want to exceed your expectations, yet they fail on both efforts. When you have a problem they'll send you to India to the reps who must love Americans because they will fully test your patience with a politeness unlike any other. When you're ready to disconnect they'll send you to Cleveland to talk to "Bob" who says he's in Cleveland and talks with a terrible southern accent. He'll try to sell you bundled solutions, he'll say "I surely understand that" way too much. So, just make peace you're not going to get "fair" you'll get AT&T's version of "family". I don't have too many family members making claims on my money that are unjustified and excessive. If I did they would be disconnected too. With AT&T UVERSE, Austin,Texas you'll pay around $16 in taxes and surcharges and you'll have to sign a 12 month contract. Keep that in mind. They run the TV signal on top of internet so if someone is watching TV the internet will get choked down. Internet Service = Garbage Signal. Remember when you want to disconnect they'll treat you like "family" and all of your recordings go to the UPS man. - Constant interruptions with signal very poor reception - Missed recordings on my DVR - Lost shows due to their poor service - Excessive fees $30 will be charged to restart your service...a mouse click will cost you $30. Probably the worst customer service ever. My service went down and they told me it would be a week before they could come fix it. The day they came to fix it was fathers day so I had to sit at home all day and wait for the tech. The tech was nice and helpful but the customer service side is horrible. I've waited on hold for hours and been hung up on, on purpose so they didn't have to transfer me to a supervisor. At first they didn't want to credit me for when my service was down, keep in mind a week or two before this I upgraded to the best internet service. After I finally got ahold of someone that could do something they credited me 18 dollars for all my troubles. Somehow my bill was still around $100. Now I've been on the phone with the billing department after being transferred multiple times to make sure they're not going to charge me a late fee since I paid the rest of the bill on the due date. I know that most internet providers suck but ATT is the absolute worst, stay clear if you can cause honestly its not worth the hassle and the hours on the phone. I also would say if you're thinking about doing the fiber 1000 or the 300 you should just stick with the 300 cause I've run speed test and it only pulls in around 400-500 mpbs. I understand this review wont really matter since they already have one star but I typed this out while sitting on hold if that tells you anything. read more

We have used AT&T internet for the past 2 years without any problems, until we moved. When we called customer service they told us we HAD to do a self installation for the new place. This was not an issue until we called to activate the service and apparently we didn't hook up the wires correctly. I spent 3 days on the phone with technical support and they could still not figure out what the problem was. Finally, they decided to send a technician out to our apartment. Once he arrived he told us that if the service wasn't working "because of our own mistakes" they would charge us $100 to do the installation. Yet they didn't bother to tell us that over the phone when we scheduled for the tech to come out. I am beyond disappointed. How can you tell your customers that something is their fault and it'll cost them?? When at the end of the day they had no idea what they were talking about! AT&T is a con game. They offered us high speed internet, Direct Tv, and the NFL ticket at a very reasonable price with a two year commitment. When they arrived for installation, they advised that high speed wasn't available, and we couldn't get the regular direct tv because of having a townhouse but we could just try their normal internet and the direct tv app. We tried everything, direct tv app, PlayStation Vue, and Hulu. The AT&T internet was too slow to support any of them. Finally giving up we canceled. Without saying anything to us when we called to cancel, we just received an early termination fee. I'm so tired of the games you play. Every time we renew, we get less and pay more. Because of where we live you have us over a barrel. Maybe, like people we know, will just cut the cord. Don't order AT&T internet!! They are crap. We ordered this in March 2020 and they are barely completing it now. It NOT reliable and goes out always. (At the worst time, of course). Their service personnel are totally non responsive. Utterly the worst customer service I've ever experienced anywhere! I'm 60 years old and have seen some bad service. Absolutely useless. Never use ATT for internet, phone or anything else. They came out to set up ATT fiber today and it had horrible connection,20 upload speed. (600 is normal) the latecy was also 30ms which is god awful. Then when I went to return it they said i wasnt in their system. I spent 2 hours on the phone with customer service and went to UPS and Fedex where neither location was unable to take my modem back even though thats where ATT told me to take it. I will never us ATT again for the rest of my life. read more

We are paying for high speed internet and I just ran a speed test to find out our download speed is less than 8 Mbps and upload is less than 4 Mbps. No wonder they have become a 3rd world provider. Extremely dissatisfied! Thank god we only have a few more weeks left before we move and change service. read more
