I would give them negative stars, if that were an option. The customer service is horrible, but it goes beyond that. They are terribly dishonest to deal with. Once you have the service, it is almost impossible to disconnect. We had AT&T service, sold the house, and set it up at the new house. After three months, it was so slow, I disconnected and returned the equipment. They kept billing me. After two hours on the phone, I think I finally got it disconnected. Got a bill today for about $120 for "early termination." Even though we'd been customers for 4 years, they secretly started a new contract when I transferred service. I signed up for AT&T Uverse Internet in October 2016 after Earthlink crashed and provided NO Internet access intermittently for two full weeks. I was desperate. I heard of AT&T. DISH net required a two-year commitment and AT&T only one. I went with AT&T. BAD mistake!! I get so many hassles from my ...@att.net (which is "serviced" by Yahoo) including having Yahoo repeatedly asking me for my password from my PERMANENT desktop computer. AT&T Uverse is HORRIBLE and unless I want to pay a huge early cancellation fine, I am trapped in AT&T Hell until the end of October, 2017. First, if I have tech problems, or any other issue, I call and get a very exasperating robo-voice. Because I don't know EXACTLY the words this wretched robovoice comprehends, I have to go back and forth until I am reduced to screaming, REPEATEDLY, "I don't WANT a g****mn robot I WANT TO SPEAK TO A F****** TECH!!!" (only I scream out the entire words). Then the robovoice blandly says "it seems as if you are asking for technical assistance." Whereupon I am likely to scream at it "YES!! G****MN YOU YES!!!!!!!!!" Embarrassing to be screaming at a robovoice. I feel as if I've been speaking to a half deaf mental-retard because when I try to use normal words the wretched artificial so-called "intellilgence" doesn't comprehend. Surely AT&T can afford to hire a few Human beings! Finally I get to a live tech--- A high-pitched, usually female voice that talks too fast in some sort of heavy Dravidian accent, sitting in a boiler room that sounds like a factory involving heavy machinery. Interacting with email is better, but if I cannot access the internet, I have no choice but to call. AT&T also took away my landline when I signed up for at&t Internet. I REALLY MISS my landline. I've had DirecTV and Comcast/Xfinity and never had the issues I have with this provider. They pretty much SUCK! Nothing but trouble from my first month of service. While setting up my new service I took them up on the offer of having my $99 installation fee spread out over the first three months. Sales rep didn't set that up correctly so I got to spend an hour trying to make that happen for my first months bill. Paid $78 with the agreement I would pay the installation fee over the next two months. Then woke up this morning to disconnected service. After the nearly impossible task of getting a rep on the line, I still ended up having to pay the full amount of the installation fee in order to have service reconnected. STAY AWAY!!!! I switched over after being with Xfinity for 12+ years. Biggest mistake ever!!! The representatives that came to my door to offer the service LIED. They promised the movie channels and sports package free for one year, LIE! when I got my first bill it said the movie channels were free for 3 months and they are charging me for the sports package. When I called customer service, they were so rude and told me if I didn't want to get charged for the sports package I would have to change to a different package deal. I told her the people that came to my door LIED in order to get me to change providers. Her response "If you want to end your service there's a $250 early termination fee. It's been less than 2 weeks since I switched my service, again the people that came to my door LIED and said I had 14 days for my "trial period". The internet service sucks! I was very disappointed with the internet service AND the customer service. We bought the fastest internet and regularly get less than a quarter of the advertised speed. When we contact them to fix it, with few exceptions I get to go through the whole process of turning things on and off which doesn't help, they tweak things remotely which makes things worse, and then want me to run a gauntlet of customer service people, managers, and technicians. I want a service that does what it says it will do and fixes things when it does not and I'm willing to pay for that kind of service. I am paying for it at ATT and not getting the service. My friend had AT&T UVERSE and cancelled their service because his rate was much higher than new customers. About two weeks after canceling his AT&T UVERSE he receive a letter from AT&T saying if he came back to AT&T UVERSE he would receive the same package he had before for apron $100.00 less and they gave him a $300.00 VISA gift card for coming back. With no fees to reconnect. He was able to cancel Comcast service with no penalty because he closed his account with 30 days of the account being open. He is now saving $1,200.00 a year for the same service. In addition to the $300 Visa gift card he received. I am in the process of switching from AT&T. I used them for 10 years. I had internet, directv and cellular service with them. I have switched all of my services. Last time my internet went down they said the earliest they could get someone out was 3 days later. When they failed to make it within their time window they did not call. Did I mention they have cellular service? I had to call them. The moron that came to my house left a line running through the middle of the backyard and said the dogs better not break the line or I would have to pay for it. I recently moved to Houston and wanted cable and internet. ATT Uverse was the only provider for my apartment complex so I signed up. I recently received my bill and it was for $150.00. They charged me almost $80 to install internet and cable television. I am kind of disgusted. I've had cable and internet since college and no one has ever charged me $40 to install cable AND $40 to install TV when all they did was plug their equipment in and turn my tv on. I'm only staying here 6 months until my house is built. When I leave I will be choosing a different provider. And if ATT is the only provider, I will buy a Verizon air card and do without cable tv. I had a great first year with AT&T. They had competitive pricing and a great support team. The second year things went awry. When I went to renew my contract I was told I would pay $81 per month. When I got the bill it was $165 per month. When I called to get this fixed I was told that just because I was quoted the wrong price doesn't mean the contract is invalid and that I would have to pay cancellation fees (talking about lots of money) if I didn't want to continue with my service. After all was said and done they told me that I actually wasn't under contract and they let me cancel without paying any cancellation fees. Been a customer now for a little less than a year and am closing out my contract due to the endless product and service issues they have. Since signing up for U-verse their technicians have been out to my community more than 8 times specifically for my apartment. Their service calls have been for service failure (lack of connection to AT&T). You might ask well have I been paying my bills, the answer is I am on auto pay. Always have been. My favorite comment from the last service stop was we're not sure what is going on with your community. We had 14 account service failures last night and you now make 15. Just today we have had another service failure. It appears that is is so bad that multiple AT&T trucks have been dispatched. Now I admit it is possible that AT&T might be installing another account while other tech's are working on the problems that other customers have. I HATE AT&T!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's start with the phone call to have services (DIRECTV, U-verse, Digi-Life)transferred. First of all you have to call 3 different numbers to have services transferred even though they are all under AT&T. I started with U-verse. I informed them that I was moving and wanted services to start on Jan 20 at new location and cancel at old location on Jan 20. I got a package delivered with the AT&T internet wires at new location day of closing. So I go back to old location and guess what? Yep they D/C my internet. I call and long story short they agreed that they messed up but I had to start NEW services like I was a brand new customer to get service for 5 days. I talked to them for over 2 hours, got transferred 5 times and was D/C twice. Let's not talk about everything they said would occur and technician coming to fix it not happening at all. Call number 2- another two hours to discuss what was suppose to happen that didn't Call number 3 - so the service at new location- guy comes over leaves the internet box and internet doesn't work. Call time 1 hour 21 minutes Call number 4 - schedule guy to come out to fix and trouble shoot Technician shows up- he starts to do something then says I'm sorry I don't have an order for services.....wth....my common sense kicks in and ask "then why in the heck is he here if there's no order?" He randomly picked this house on this date to install services? I got rid of AT&T my cell phones and kept the internet only. My son wanted the digital life so I transferred it to him. So this week I scheduled for at&t to arrive 4 times to install my internet. The first 3 times, nobody called or showed up. I received email confirmation, verbal confirmation over the phone, and a text confirming that they would come from 12-4 pm the third time I scheduled and appt, and nobody called or showed up. AT&T is one of those necessary evils people need to have. They offer free calling to Mexico when they actually charge $5 per line for the service. U-verse needs to be rebootede every other day so the wireless receivers work correctly and so the internet provides the speed that is supposed to. They offer combining your bills for a $10 discount but it takes them anywhere between 3 and 6 months to complete the merge. Also, the cost that they offer for high speed internet does not indicate that you have to pay $10/month for equipment rental. If you stop by any of their stores in NW Houston you will wait for a long while to be tended by reps that are untrained on where to get information. These folks use technology that is worthless. I can't give zero stars or i would. Is there a negative rating? We bought our 11yr old son Xbox one for Christmas that he'd been begging for. We didn't realize in order to get the system set up we would need wifi. So we call DirectV and it turns out they partner with Att in our area as providers for wifi. Took one hour on the phone for DirectV to navigate the Att system (any time I've called DirectV for service, it's been excellent. Never had a problem with DirectV). They took and verified all my information and said they would ship out the equipment right away and I set up an appointment for the install in one week (the first available). My husband gets a call two days later from Att saying they do not provide service in our area. He gets on the phone conference style with Att and DirectV and it seems they do offer service in our area. Once again, our information (address) is verified and the equipment is once again on the ship to list and I was given an ETA. The ETA came and went with no equipment arriving. I call, after two hours on the phone, there's still no resolution and I'm told i have to call back the next day bc they are now closed. Remember that it has now been 7 days past Christmas and I have an 11yr old disappointed little boy with an Xbox that doesn't work. I call the next day, they shipped the router to the wrong address after verifying our address a minimum of 6 times at this point. I'm told that I need to drive to this strangers home, ask for the equipment, and spend my dime to send it back so I don't get charged. SERIOUSLY? ?? At this point, we tell Att to forget it and go with a different provider. It is now the end of February, I'm getting calls from Att that I have a past due balance of $165. What? ??? I have spent three hours on the phone just this week (3 separate calls I've made) and there is still no resolution. I was told is have an answer by today and of course I don't. In my call today I was told that it could take a minimum of one week to get an answer. There had been an"escalation" put on my acct to "find" the missing equipment I never received. Until this"escalation" is complete, I still have a balance due on an account that never existed. If you want to borrow trouble and stress yourself out, do business with Att. read more
