I've been a customer for several years but Customer Support, both online and in the stores, has declined to absolutely unacceptable and nightmarish levels. My issue sounds like Carol L.'s below and I'm guessing this problem is perhaps based in some Well's Fargo's like scam to create fake accounts for some back end benefit or quota or some math logic AT&T uses in outsourcing support overseas or relying on automated voice bots. (Which is what hurt Dell BTW..) The problems began when I requested, via online support (because call lines were over 15 minute waits,) to downgrade to a lower cost pre-paid plan at the end of 2017. I wasn't using all my minutes and data in the old "post paid" plan and their pre-paid was less expensive. Rep made the switch but to a higher cost post paid plan because they didn't pay attention. It wasn't evident there was a mistake until a month later. I had a copy of my call transcript and requested refund and migration to 4G plan promised in 2017, but it took 4 months, over 15 hours of phone calls and 3 store visits to fix the errors made by the rep and all the associated billing errors. All the while charges kept accruing across 2 accounts. AMEX was great in stopping the charges (they say they get lots of practice with AT&T.) However with AT&T, it ultimately was that only 1 rep out of 20 could fix the problem. All the rest transferred the calls, lied and threatened me or were rude or could not speak or understand English (or combination of this set along with the automated call bot who first greets you online.) A true case study in poor, poor customer service, automated bots and reps who don't know really how any of AT&T plans or products work much less how to handle the complexity when things don't follow their call scripts. After months of this surreal torture, I planned my escape from AT&T for XFinity Mobile (their new plan is Verizon under the hood.) My bill is 1/3 less and call quality and coverage better. Xfinity store support is only a bit better (lots of phones out of stock, they deal with cable tech troubles too, people are grumpier in their stores) but the plans are simple so the reps can't get too confused. Most of the process is highly automated with Xfinity so reps don't interact in the process much. Its too bad getting a cell phone with some carriers is like an experience at a bad car dealership now. Either they have the whole package of product, service and billing down, or they don't. AT&T don't. Don't waste your time - the frustrations after you sign up will kill you and ruin your days. honest, friendly and helpful! normally, I have a skeptic eye for cell phone stores... kinda like used car dealers... I have my guard up thinking I'm gonna get ripped off. so, I was surprised when I found the staff here to be genuine and considerate. I came here to activate a new line on my plan. I got a nice clear overview of all my options and genuine got the sense that the salesperson was trying to get me the package that made the most sense for me, rather than trying to upsell me. I was very happy with the plan we arrived at. it saved me money and gave me good flexibility. they helped make sure that I was able to keep some perks that were important to me, such as my employer discount and my grandfathered unlimited iphone data plan. read more

Seems to always be like this here. *update While its true the wait was long I had some problems once I left the store and the man who helped me gave me his card and told me to text him if I needed to. Would I drive from Sacramento to this store? I sure would. I was in the area and stopped in and was greeted by Nicole. I had questions and she had answers. She showed me a few items that I was (and still am) interested in buying. She answered my questions and even though I didn't buy anything that day, I wasn't pressured into buying and for that it is worth it to me to drive from Sacramento to this store just to work with such an outstanding representative. To the ATTENTION of the President of AT&T This review is for the corporate office, not the store reps. I switched to a prepaid cell phone plan from my "post-paid" account. I had At&T mobile since 1994, and kept the plan over various name changes (Cingular, then back to AT&T) What I didn't know is that my last plan left an outstanding balance because it was "post-paid". Since I thought I had paid the last bill 2 times, I tried to resolve the issue. It took my wasting time with At&T (nearly 3 hours total), over 3 phone calls while I waited, (average wait time: 28 minutes) to talk to a "supervisor" and various customer representative to try to resolve the problem. No one had access to my long history of more than 23 years with AT&T, so no representative was concerned that their rudeness would impact a customer with an exceptionally loyal association with the company. I am hoping this will be seen by corporate headquarters president and CEO. In addition, I am writing a letter to corporate headquarters to see how this fiasco could be resolved. I am asking At&T to offer financial incentives for my trouble and to keep me from switching to a different mobile company. read more

HOLD THE PHONE! NOT HAPPY AT THE MOMENT! I gave this group 5 Stars when I walked out of the store! And then I received my bill. A free upgrade is apparently not a free upgrade. They slid the entire price of the "upgrade" over $700 somehow into my monthly charges. The monthly bill used to be $172...I was told it was going to $192 and somehow it's exploded to $248. Not happy after calling AT&T about my bill, which I thought was an honest mistake.Im heading back to the AT&T store this weekend to get a full explanation and hopefully a correction to this bill. I'm hoping this is some mistake that can be corrected. Something is dreadfully wrong here. I would have gladly paid the $100 to get the screen fixed. I was not banking on my bill going from $172 to $248....Sorry to say, but right now, I feel scammed. I hope that is not the case. I bought a new iPhone with Apple Care at this AT&T store and found out through Apple (Genius Bar for a cracked screen) that it was a counterfeit iPhone - made with non-Apple parts. AT&T customer support told me to go to the AT&T store to address a billing error. When at the store, they put me back on the phone with customer support which gave me the run around for an hour before refusing to help me. I requested reimbursement for charges that occurred on my bill that they explicitly said I would not be charged for. They said because the agent didn't notate the account correctly, the charges were valid and they would not reimburse me. I was not alone on this day in the store getting the runaround from their customer support. If you are willing to be abused, undervalued as a customer and have your time and money taken from you without your consent, choose to get your wireless here. This was my experience and can be yours too. I've had disputes with Verizon too, but they usually come around to reason. This was not the case with AT&T. read more

This AT&T store is so inefficiently and poorly run, if it were not a big conglomerate it would have been out of business long ago. Each of the few times I've gone in (including today), I've left flabbergasted by the "out to lunch" service, making customers feel like you're inconveniencing them and you're lucky to get their attention. I was interested in getting a new phone for one of my kids today and after catching someone's attention, asked him if I could see it.He ran in the back to get it but was gone for maybe 15 minutes. When he returned he helped another customer and ignored me. When I asked where the product was, a lady took over and said I needed to put my name on the list to get service. After going back and forth, I said "okay, can you just tell me how much more my plan would be if I add a phone for my son". She said I'd have to consult with a salesperson and I'd have to wait another 10 minutes or so to do that. There were only a few customers at the time and all were with sales people. I said I'd waited long enough and couldn't she just answer the question, it would take two seconds to look at the computer. She recommended I call AT&T to find out. Ugh. read more

I bought an iphone7 on May 6th. I also bought a rubber case for it. I was getting complaints that people were hearing a lot of static when they called me. I called ATT tech support and they figured out it was the case that was causing the problem (great service from that ATT rep named Deanne). She told me to go to the store where I bought it and they would refund my money ($35) for the case and she would put a note in the system. I went to the ATT store in Corte Madera and "Yee" the asst. mgr. informed I was past the 14 day return policy. It was actually 25 days since I bought the phone, but I thought a little flexibility seemed like the right thing to do since I was instructed by an ATT employee to go to the store for a refund. I asked "Yee" if he could apply store credit so I could get something else that would be of use. "Yee's" response - "No".... I actually find this humorous, it's only $35 so who really cares, certainly not me... However, I've been an ATT customer for more than a dozen years and have been an income stream of around $20,000+ to them. It seems like a little flexibility over a $35 case that was conflicting with my signal and 11 days outside their normal return policy would be appropriate. It's probably just bad customer training on the part of ATT to not teach these low level people to take care of the customer. Next time around, I'll will be switching to another carrier..... oh, BTW - here's another humorous anecdote, "Yee" called my phone and said "it sounds fine to me"... Way to go Yee! read more

I brought my Uncle to this AT&T store and we were recommended to buy two Apple I-Phone 8's for accessibility purposes. He purchased them right out. However we came back to the store needing help with accessibility features for my Aunt who is Hard of Hearing and Legally Blind. Well, the accessibility feature, Voice Over, was either not working or simply was very difficult to work. We then asked for another phone that would have better working accessibility features. They found a non-smart phone, flip, and are willing to take back the I-phone 8's. However they are now charging him for a restocking fee. REALLY, unbelievable. The features on the phone aren't working as advertised. it's literally 3 days after we bought the phones. Unused. I'm truly disappointed. read more

I was just at the store to see if I could retrieve an old phone number I had given up after I was hacked. My name was put on the list and I was told to wait. While waiting, someone comes in with a question and there are two employees assisting her for five minutes. She was not put on the wait list and did not have to wait. When I challenged the manager, who is an idiot, he said her question took just a few minutes. Once someone helped me, it took less than two minutes. He just had to check if the number as still available. I would avoid this store. read more

The only time I go to AT&T is when I know Freddy is there. Normally I never have good service but once I met Freddy I only go there when we know he's working. Unlike the other employee`s, he is very patient and gives us good suggestions and fixes our problems all the time until I understand. Freddy is the one you can really trust. He does his best to make sure you feel satisfied. Because of him I keep the AT&T service. If you`re going to this location, definitely go to Freddy. He has amazing service! read more

Third time a went in to get a screen for my phone. You have to wait for an associate just to purchase an item! What store makes you wait 15 minutes just to buy something?!?! The whole concept must have been modeled after the DMV! And the last gate keeper I dealt with must be a former DMV employee! Zero customer service skills. She didn't bullsh!* me (At&t has a reputation for this, but so does every other service you can get), she was quick, and she actually did what I was asking! I went to this store to return a Galaxy Note S7 that was recalled because the battery explodes. First time I went in their Internet was down so they couldn't help me. Returned the next day and got a "loaner phone" as they don't have any S7Notes available. Guy was like "bye". I said wait I need to transfer all the info on the old phone to the loaner. He said" Oh, well that can take two hours and you can't leave the store during that time." They didn't say that when I fist bought the Note7 for $800. Later that day my husband tried to return his recalled exploding phone as well. They said they couldn't take it back because it wasn't in the original box. Have now wasted many hours and still don't have a Note7 I paid an arm and a leg for. read more

So disappointed with AT&T once again.. but that's a different story. I went to the store to get my husbands Sprint number moved to my old iPhone. I spent hours talking to ATT prior to this regarding what I wanted to do... They were eager to get my 2 sprint numbers moved to ATT and in their excitement forgot to mention a few key points... Which again is a different story but annoyingly will cost me $$$! I arrived at the Corte Madera Store and signed in. Let's just say it took a while to get helped. (50min.) when I was finally helped by Jeff, he explained to me that I was basically misrepresented by the prior 2 ATT sales reps. The discovery of this was maddening enough but his lack of sympathy, and a general lack of interest, infuriated me. My sense and my husbands, was that he could give a hoot that the situation made NO sense and that I was extremely unhappy. His Customer service skills lack and even if there was nothing for him to do, as an "ATT company man" as he kept telling me... He might work on his delivery and service skills. I intend to talk to ATT to rectify my problem but will NOT go back to CM store!! read more

Zack Brennan, the retail sales consultant, took the time to go over everything I needed to know, in a relaxed, thoughtful way, on not one but two appointments. I got the impression that other consultants in the store work in an equally thoughtful way. Let's just say I'm kinda old :) - well, a grandma - and this stuff isn't easy for me. Everyone knows that Verizon and AT&T have all of us by the balls, however, there are degrees of horribleness of contempt for which the two companies show to their customers. Well, at least as far as these two companies' presence at the Towne Center Shopping Center, the verdict is in; AT&T is much worse. I was kept waiting for nearly an hour on a busy day when they had more than half their salesclerk stands empty, forced to endure the horrid avertisements for AT&T products on two huge screaming TVs which couldn't be turned off, and then when I confronted the manager over this egregious waste of my time she refused to give me her card so I could complain. They all looked like a bunch of ghetto kids anyway with self preservative instincts so maybe I shouldn't be surprised. You would think though that the main AT&T store in the richest county in the U.S. could at least be stocked with enough salesclerks to handle the business, but like all businesses with a lockwrench grip on the market, they not only screw you every way they can but eagerly rub it in. I was planning to change my Verizon service to AT&T but fortunately this incident kept me from making that mistake. read more
