Okay I know i have purple hair and tattoos but I do have a good job and I'm a responsible citizen. That being said today I actually got accused of taking a Cingular employee's cell phone because he couldn't find it. I went in there to pick up a new charger for my phone. I'm wearing jeans, a t-shirt, no purse, no jacket and carrying a wallet. There's one woman in the back helping a guy learn how to use his phone and one older man in the front named Giovanny. He sort of helps me find a charger and I go to purchase it but first i have to stand around while he exchanges money or whatever business he's doing with some buddy of his. After five minutes of that he comes back to ring me up and part way through the transaction realizes he's missing his phone. Him: I can't find my phone, where's my phone? Me: Well is it that one there? Him: No.... Did you take it?? Me: ...... No. Him: (wanders around, takes off to the back room searching for it.... moments later, comes back, scans my my card.... takes off again..... comes back again....) Me: Look can you just ring me up so I can leave? I don't have all day here. Him: I can't find my phone. Me: Well I'm sorry but I'd like to leave. Him: Well you were the only one standing at the counter and I can't find it. (BIG PAUSE) Me: Are you accusing me of taking your phone?!?! Him: Uh... no sorry that was a mistake I shouldn't have said that. Me: (Angry Rant... Manager's name.... Ugh.... Etc) The worst part of all of this was the fact that he wouldn't ring me up and let me leave because he wanted to find his phone FIRST to make sure I wasn't the one that took it! So basically I'm standing around there like a suspected criminal!! My friend told me I should have told the guy to call his phone... Good idea, why didn't I think of that?! Horrible Service. And endless wait. They make you wait. Their estimate says 10 minutes and it comes down to 45 minutes. "Sorry, we can't predict how much time it will take" comes the reply. While waiting for your chance, you wonder why so many of at&t guys are laughing and not attending to anyone. Then you are assigned to this bearded guy, who is outright rude, impatient and thankless. He doesn't know what customer service is, neither has the patience to hear the query. To top it all, the manager changes places from initially understanding your query to denying it later. I had to go to this store because AT&T's order processing error mail asked me to visit the AT&T store. Yays: 1. The person at the entrance greeted as long as we entered the shop. But little did I realize that she was setting the expectations way too highly. 2. who was assigned to help us out, by name Brian Beeck, tried couple of options and tried to help me out. However.... read the nays below... Nays: 1. Mr. Brian Beeck was busy installing apps and playing with his iphone, while he was talking to us. He was clearly giving us less than 100% of his attention, and I had to repeat myself few times. This in my opinion is not a great trait to have 2. I can't believe that Brian would rather go inside the staff room than waiting for couple of minutes as I am filling out the online application opened up by him. I had some questions and again had to wait for another 20 minutes for him to come back. 3. The shop as a whole were totally insensitive to our time. I had to spend about 2 hours before they dismissed it as an online issue 4. They have just 2-3 chairs to wait, tucked in the corner. For their efficiency level, I'd think that they should have about 15 chairs 5. The manager of this shop would rather get her point out rather than listen to what I had to say It's not like I am an ardent patron of ATT services. I've been to this particular AT&T location twice in the last 3 weeks, once to buy and activate my new phone and once to fix everything that they messed up on my first visit. It took 90 minutes the first time and I'm about to pass the two hour mark on the next visit and my account is no where near fixed. Stopped by to talk with someone about dropped calls and lack of cell service at my place. Read online about several people getting a MicroCell and this fixed their issues. Without even a discussion - that will be $200 for a MicroCell....to fix our bad cell service to you. $200!!! I don't think so. Going into cell phone stores is not something one typically looks forward to, but this one was so stellar, I had to get back to yelping for it. Reason for this was all Ghewa who provided us the best service I have ever gotten at any type of store anywhere. Highlights: - Warmly greeted us with a smile, was super friendly and helpful throughout the whole process - Made clear recommendations for us on phones and service which were not necessarily just the most expensive options, but ones she thought would work for us - Did everything so we could take the phones out of the store and use right away: charged and let me do my phone settings while the other was being processed and even transferred contacts from the hub's ancient Motorola flip - Was super patient and didn't make us feel rushed yet was incredibly efficient - Offered us a chair and water since knew might take a while activating 2 new phones and combining service plans - Chatted with us about our lives and holidays while she was getting everything set up to make the waiting more pleasant - Let prego me use the restroom even though it was employees only - When she had to leave the desk for a few minutes, let us know why and didn't leave us hanging (manager needed to assist with one part) - Even proactively put our screen protectors on for us which was awesome since she had a impeccable process and I suck at doing those things--usually get it all misaligned with a gazillion air bubbles Lowlights: - Bit crowded that day (Xmas Eve Eve) so had to wait a bit (about half hour), but appreciated the organized cue system they had where they took your info and put it up on the screen so you could see you move up on the list--reminded me of flight standby lists. It's so hard to find superior service these days and I honestly was so happily surprised by this experience, I wanted to hug her as we left. AT&T and all types of stores everywhere, please aim to be like Ghewa and the consumer world would be a lot less frustrating place. read more

Oh boy, where shall I start?! So, every time I come to this location, there is always a problem to be had. I personally will try to avoid coming here from now on after today. I will admit this up front, if you have irritated me in the past, I will be irritated walking in, so you better make sure the customer service is superb to make me feel better and not want to snap off heads. =) My phone was overheating and wouldn't hold a charge, and I had to get it while on vacation out state. My old phone was killed by airport security, sad day. I walk in there, only to be told that I needed somebody who was authorized on the account to be able to get anything done. Seriously? I just needed to switch the phone to the EXACT SAME ONE. BLAH! I ended up calling my mom, who happened to be going to the Massage Envy at that same area for an appointment in about 20 minutes, to come and be my "authorized person." She was told when she walked in that "Oh, all you have to do is call this number and set it up so that way she could be able to do this." Seriously? WTF?! Why did you not tell this to me so I could have had her do it on her way to her appointment?! While my mom is trying to get through, they call my name to be seen. Unfortunately, this is where things start to get worse. My mom gave the authorization and went for her massage. The arrogant jerk who was "helping" us then stated I needed a proof of purchase... Again, why was this not mentioned BEFORE I started to get things done? He then wanted me to get my mom OUT of her massage to get the proof of purchase... which I am sure was left at home. After looking at him like he was stupid for even asking such a thing, I than began to ask if he even has HAD a massage, because if you have, you would know that NOBODY should ever inturupt you. After some lovely heated discussion, he tells me he cannot deal with me, and proceeds to get a manager. Now, the manager, even though he was not fully being helpful enough to calm me down, COULD have given this store another star. In fact, I would give them two stars. He eventually told me their location would not take my phone for an exchange, because they are just too high and mighty to do so. Instead, after having to drive WAY out of my way to get to this location, since it is the one my family uses, I would have to drive to San Jose to get this fixed... Not the best thing to be telling somebody who has had nothing but problems at this location. Eventually, managed to get credit to my account, and he was going to have the same arrogant jerk to give me directions to the San Jose location. At this point, I would have given them two stars, just because the Manager was actually trying to make me feel better. HOWEVER! The arrogant smartalec jerk gave me directions... from their location to San Jose... the city of. I had to find my way to a hole in the wall location because he was pissed at me and would not give directions to the location I was trying to find. Luckily I was able to find it, but once I got home, I knew this review was going to be posted. Also does not help they are undergoing construction. read more

Tech support online is a lot helpful than representatives and their manager of this retail store. The manager I met in person this afternoon, after her employee tried for a while, can't fix this issue. She said since it's not at&t phone, I might not be able to use voicemail function. She is also not familiar about tech support availability. When I asked what if we call tech support now to find out, it was around 5pm (PDT). She said tech support work at Eastern time and it is only available before 3pm (PDT) so she refused my suggestion. On the same day I used tech support around 9pm (PDT) to get my voicemail set up successfully. Apparently my phone can have voicemail function even it is not an at&t phone, she is just lack of knowledge to set it up properly. She is also not familiar with tech support availability, or she just doesn't want to assist her customer at her best (I don't want to say she lie, but when I checked online at home, that was my first thought). She is totally helpless and misleading customer. Wish there is zero star option. read more

Poor management and poorly trained employees. I went in today to take advantage of the TV offers for the LG Vu, which was (after rebates) supposed to be buy 1 at $49.99 and get one free. When I got home I realized I was charged $99.99 for each phone and given paperwork for two $50 rebates. Leaving a nice $50 discrepency between the advertised price and what I got. I called AT&T customer service and found out that not only were they supposed to charge me only $49.99 for the second phone, but I had also been overcharged for my data plans by $5/month for each line. I was told that if I took the paperwork back in, they would refund the extra $50 and the service rep took care of the data plan. When I got back to the AT&T store, I was told by one sales guy that all they could do would be to credit the difference to my next bill. Or, I could return home and back (again) with the boxes the phone came in to swap it out for new ones. Apparently their point-of-sale system just couldn't handle refunding back to my credit card. On top of this, when I tried to speak to the store manager, she would not even come out of the back room to talk to me. I also noticed that a lot of the accessories and the like sold there are extremely overpriced. For example, a 2 GB Micro SD card was priced at $25. You can find these online at 8 GB for less than $20. Ridiculous. I won't be visiting this store again for anything in the future. read more

You would expect people in the suburbs be nicer than in the city. I guess this reflects AT&T as a whole. Pros: I don't think I saw any. Maybe that I was able to open the door without getting any physical filth on my hands. Cons: Everything. Especially customer service. Going to the AT&T store to handle an issue other than purchasing a plan is like standing at a broken vending machine. That no matter how much you shake it, nothing ever comes out. But everything you put in it disappears. Or worse yet, when you put change in, the bag of black licorice that you don't want comes tumbling out and you hate that bag so much so much, but now it demands that you owe another $1 for that bag of licoric, but you didn't want it in the first place. And you want to kick that machine and break it...but well, you're too weak to move it from the wall and in the end, there's nothing to do. But it's worse. A few months ago, I lost my phone and came into the store to get a new sim card since I had an old phone. Because I had an old AT&T plan (450 minutes, no rollver, free incoming txt msgs, unlimited nights/weekends for $29.99, they said they would switch me to an upgraded similar plan once I purchased a new sim card. Which I did. Simple right? So a few days later, I find my phone and return to the store to ask whether I could return the sim. Granted, I understand that I couldn't return the sim, but it turns out they put me on a backwards plan. The original customer representative during my first visit said that they had gotten me on an exact plan as I had before. But on this return visit, it turns out they made a huge mistake. I was now on a 200 minutes, no rollver, no incoming txt msgs and only 1000 nights/weekends for $29.99 WHAT BS. And thus the nightmare begins. The CSR Giovanny on this return visit said that he can't do anything, but that I should talk to another representative. In fact, he suggested that I talk to the manager Keith. He tells me to come the following day because Keith will be working then. So visit #3, I come in and ask for Keith. The CSRs say that he is busy at the moment. So I wait. I wait and wait. for THREE HOURS. Finally Keith is available. I ask him if he's the manager and he says, "Uh...no...Felton is. But he's not in today, he will be in tomorrow." My irritation is only beginning. Visit #4, I come in and they tell me that Felton is busy at the moment. This time, I have brought something to keep me busy as I wait 4 HOURS. Until when someone so brightly says that Felton has left. The same thing happens visit #5. For some reason, Felton the manager is not there, taken a day off who knows. I don't see him. I get a clue that the CSR has no idea when people are working and that they are lying. Then one CSR tells me that I have free incoming txt msgs. "They always had free incoming txt msgs." Not true according to the AT&T site and when I check my bill, I have been charged for various txt msgs people have sent me. Seems like some people are not clued in. So on visit #6, someone clever enough decides that I should get a special appointment with Felton the following Saturday morning. I arrive and the CSR look clueless. "He's not here. He worked two full days and needs a break. He will be here Tuesday." Visit #7, #8, #9....where I sat for hours "patiently" waiting because the CSR told me to wait and then some brillant CSR decides to tell me, "He's not in." And then many visits later, I finally get in touch with the manager. "Can't do anything for you. You are on an one year contract and I can't do anything." And he turns away. At least give me something for my patience. It isn't the fact that I wasn't able to get my request fulfilled. Rather, it was the incompetence and the lack of communication among employees that make this store the worst I have ever experienced. I am normally a forgiving person (as witnessed in my other reviews), but I cannot and will not vouch for AT&T. read more

I came in here the other day to get some help because my cell phone was acting up, and got helped by Stephany. It seemed obvious that whatever customer she was helping before must have really upset her, because right when I started talking to her, she was very angry at me and condescending. First, she pretty much kept hinting that I was an idiot because i could have gotten my problem solved over the phone or online. This is true, but sometimes I feel like its just better to do things in person when it comes to these type of things. For some reason she wouldn't let it go and kept telling me and that I wasted my time. then, throughout the convo when she was helping, she kept rolling her eyes at me for some reason every time i spoke. Towards the end she just got really fed up, maybe because the computer she was working on was slow, or maybe she had a hard time understanding my accent ( i really have no idea), and she just went over to a new customer without saying anything. I ended up getting helped by someone else who solved my problem within 3 minutes. I never really had an experience like this before at ATT, so I recommend going a little bit further to the palo alto store, or just avoid Stephany if you go to the grant one and save yourself a major migraine. read more

Speaks with attitude, sarcasm and no regards for customers. People like this should never be in customer service. If it wasn't for the case they are selling, we wouldn't be here. Today I waited 45 minutes just to discover that they can't help me with any of my requests: I wanted to add SSN to my account and schedule the suspension of my account since I am going on a long trip. They refused to add my SSN because I did not have the card itself. It turns out that in the store they are incapable of checking whether it is my SSN or not. They claim that only phone customer service can do it. Isn't it weird that I can buy a $30'000 car without showing the physical card with SSN printed on it, but can't add SSN to my account without showing it? And why phone service, which is less secure by definition, can do it while the store cannot? I would not bother with SSN, but last time I tried to unlock my phone I could not do it precisely because I did not have SSN on my account. And nowadays it is not possible to unlock the phone in the store. Are they trying to create an additional source of income for all those little repair shops that unlock phones? The store clerk also could not help me with suspension of my account. Well, to be exact he told me they could suspend the services, but I would still have to pay my usual monthly fee. If I wanted to really suspend my account, i.e. stop the services and pay a reduced monthly fee of $10-20, I had to call to another department of their customer service. One can say: "What's the problem? Just call the customer service!" However I had so many problems with call centres: either they do not understand my accent, or I do not understand theirs, or they do something that I haven't asked to do, etc. I come to the store and wait almost an hour to make sure that there is no misunderstanding and everything is done right. But it seems that with AT&T I no longer have this option. I am seriously thinking about terminating my contract despite all the early terminating fees and switching to another operator. Perhaps their customer service will be as bad as AT&T, but at least their prices will be lower. I am not ready to pay premium price for poor service. read more

ATT resorts to unethical ways to rip off their customers. Beware folks of over charges on your bill. ATT is now resorting to using cheap scams to bump up their revenues. They charged me $309 for calls overseas even though all of it was WIFI calling which is free. There was no message or notification or anything sent to me to indicate that these calls were anything other than WIFI. I called their customer service and the person Travis ID#TB195R was rude and refused to go listen to what I was telling him. His Supervisor Lisa seemed to be coached by him and was even worse. Too bad ATT. After being a loyal customer for several years both for my home and business, I will take my business elsewhere. read more

Friend lost his cellphone and came here hoping to get a better deal then Parrot at&t (at&t reseller - located near el camino and mary st). Unfortunately since hes only 18 months into his contract they wouldn't give him a discount on any phones (Sprint gives a $75 discount if you're been with them for 12 months, $150 for 24 months). They did give him a sim card for free (they normally charge $25 to replace your sim card unless you're buying a new cellphone) so thats the one respect in which this store was better then Parrot At&t. read more

I think of this place as like the Apple of wireless stores. I came here to pick up new simm cards for a couple of new phones. I like that you could browse around while you wait. As soon as you walk in, a person takes your name and you're automatically in a queue that you don't have to wait in a line. The folks in there make sure you're still in the queue and don't try to sell you anything but rather make you feel like you're just hanging out and casually talking to them. I went to the store today to get a new SIM card. It should be a very fast transaction; however, when I arrived I was told that I would need to wait 10 minutes to speak to someone! After 15 minutes I went to speak to the manager. Nothing! All the while, there were employees milling about. Finally, after 25+ minutes, an employee helped me (and the transaction took 2 minutes). I bought a body guard screen guards protection and when I opened up the box it was cracked, in little pieces and when I bring it back to the store the guy that works there said its been open the and we have no evidence of breaking it. we not going to replace it for you and you could send it to manufactory. Had a very bad customer service experience at the store lately. It looks to me the store is very well staffed, yet many don't have a good understanding of the business or the skill to do the job. I had to visit multiple times to correct a mistake made by one agent there. Went in to open a multi-line prepaid account. The agent helped us told us that was his first time doing this. So he had to ask for his co-worker's help several times to get the job done. Yet in the end the server crashed, so the agent told us to go home to call 611 to finish the transition. But when we got home, we found we were over charged and we were also put on the wrong plan. We returned to question him, he denied role in it. Having no proof, we simply left. After calling the customer service 5 times, we finally found one customer representative who figured the whole thing out for us. Turns out the agent put us on the right plan initially, but when adding a second line, he switched the first line to the wrong one, 2 minutes after opening the account for us. Yet we are charged by the system for this switch. No wonder he asked us to go home to pay. We had to return to the store an extra two times to talk to the manager to have the overcharge refunded. Of course the agent declined to take responsibility for it, again. He now starts saying that we may have changed it by web while at the store. The fact is that we did everything via his instruction at the store, while he operated on both his pad and our phone. And anytime a change is initiated from customer side, the customer will get a text message confirming such a change. Yet we never got such a message on our phone. Another telling thing is that the manager saw many credits being posted to our account, he even questioned our motive. Yet we never see such a credit from our balance. The fifth customer service representative did issue us a credit, to cover the cost to switch the plan back to the right one, that is, to cover their own mistake. So at the end of the day, we still ends up with being overcharged. I assume that they may have messed up their payment system multiple times, so they internally issued quite some credits to cover their mistakes, to bring things back to normal. As a software engineer myself, I did notice their prepay website is quite unstable, it crashed several time while I was simply browsing it. And when I click one same button, often it brings up totally unrelated pages. I observed this from both Android and iPhones. There must be something wrong with their web code. A conclusion, disqualified agent, doubtful manager and many know-nothing customer support agents, till you find the right one, and mal-functioning web site. Such a long laundry list. I would strongly advise you against using this store. read more

Money extractors! I wanted to upgrade my iphone 2g to 3g. People in this store told me that I will have to pay $30 PLUS an additional $5 every month for text messages and it is part of the package. That is, I can not leave the text messages option. If you go to an apple store you can get an iphone 3g plan without taking the 'compulsory' text option. read more

ATT doesn't have good service but this place is definitely good: I moved to a new apartment and wanted to make appointment with ATT to have internet installed. I called them but a few days later they called back saying there was a hold on my account. I spent hours on the phone (they just tried to transfer my call to different departments, and most of the time I was on hold....) Hence I came to this place. People here are very warmhearted and helpful. Oscar spent 2 hours with me, trying various methods to help me out. Finally, he manually pushed my order and even found an offer to waive my installation fee. Everything went good with his help. This place definitely deserves a five-star :) read more

Rude employees at this location who were unable to solve my issue. The store manager(s)? seemed accommodating at first, but just kept assuring us they would solve the issue and it would be a few more minutes. The original employee helping us out just kept retyping our information into his iPad to no avail. The managers can say all they want-- but they ultimately didn't accomplish anything I needed them to and I wasted a good portion of my Saturday with these clowns. As a general comment, their stupid iPad deployment isn't working for their retail stores-- they look cool but just add more fuss and more technical issues. I would rather just wait while an employee uses a desktop computer rather than repeating my personal information 90 times while they try and process it through their "trendy" iPad system. Phone support seems to be the best option as the employees are pleasant and competent. read more

I second June's review. I've been coming to this store for years. I've been a customer of Pacbell Wireless-SBC Wireless-Cingular Wireless-AT&T Wireless, so I've dealt with a lot of different folks over the years, and this store has always been of the most help when dealing with various billing and service issues. They know their system well, so they understand how to fix problems and deal with all the different plans and options available. They're great with equipment and take the time to make sure they've done everything possible to solve your problem. For me, that last part is what matters most. Some problems are by nature tough, but these guys always do everything they're able to to solve them, rather than trying to get you out the door and onto the next customer. That's why I've stayed with AT&T, in spite of the network's problems at times. My phone stopped ringing, and after a few friends with a M.S. in computer science could not figure it out, I went to this store. The dedicated online support guy said that the "firmware was corrupt." But they could not fix this most basic problem at the store, suggesting that I call Google and Motorola to determine whether the issue is caused by the hardware or OS. Does the customer have to chase the hardware and OS vendor for such a simple problem?? read more

I went here twice yesterday (3/3/14), first, in the morning to inquire about adding a line to my shared mobile plan. I was greeted by young lady, Ruthie, who was very pleasant and accommodating. She was able to address my concerns and explain to me what needed to be done. I then informed her that I'll be back in the afternoon with my wife and daughter, for whom we were adding the line, to decide whether to get one or not. We went back late afternoon and was greeted again by Ruthie. After explaining to my wife and daughter what we discussed, we got her a new iphone. I would like to commend Ruthie for being knowledgeable on the products and services offered by their company. She was very patient answering all our questions and offered a smile every time. Went in here this afternoon to pay my AT&T wireless phone bill. It was bout 7:00 pm and thank God the place wasn't bustling with tons of people. The young man that greeted me at the door led me to the payment kiosk when I told him I was there to pay my phone bill. No fuss, no muss. I paid by electronic check and then I was out of there within 5 minutes. Now that's the way I like it--wham, bam, thank ya, now get the hell out mam! read more
