So my complaint is about AT&T the company. When I first got AT&T over 8 years ago they were okay. I joined because I get a discount through my employer. However in the last two years not only has their customer service gone down hill but, so has their service. I now can't make calls or text from just about everywhere I need to. I have to go outside to use my phone. Or use WiFi apps. On top of that they have changed their rate plans and outright lied to me. Now I am stuck with phones that don't work on this network and contracts I can't afford to break. I feel ripped off. I'm not the only one either a bunch of my coworkers have been complaining of the exact sane things. Every time I call At&t to address my issues all thy to is apologize in a condasending voice. Yelp generally frowns on comparing one store to its competition. I wonder how they feel about comparing stores to ones run by the same company? The charge mechanism on my cell phone died last week. I brought it to the fancy new AT&T store on Olympic in Walnut Creek first. They were well meaning, but not very helpful. It felt like they were giving me the run around to drop more money on a new phone. I wasn't sure which new phone I wanted, and decided to take some time to think about it. The next day, I decided to walk to the AT&T store on Broadway, and the difference between service was night and day. The person who helped me asked how long I'd had my phone (answer: Almost a year). He then scanned my phone and printed out a receipt that showed it was still under warranty. Bascially, instead of paying a small fortune for a new phone, I got it replaced for free. Yes, the store on Olympic still has the nice, shiny new store smell to it. But I think I'll keep going to this one when I have problems. read more

Came in today to purchase an iPhone 6s plus. Earlier I was told they had plenty in stock then after signing in and waiting for 2 hours my turn comes and they tell me that they are out of stock. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT !!!!!!! The person who told me they were in stock involuntarily wasted valuable time. Also 2 hour wait for a room that had 10 people in it max with only 4 att workers. If you want to waste your time and be helped hours later Id reccomend switching to Verizon for they care about custom help. read more

The customer service at this store is terrible. My boyfriend and I have gone to the this store three times in the past two weeks, and we did not deal with a single employee who had even an ounce of good customer service. The employee that helped us lied to us on the second visit. We had both ordered iPhones on the same date, and I had an email saying mine arrived so we went to pick it up. While there, we were told that my boyfriend's iPhone 4 order had not yet arrived, but they assured us that it had shipped. Then we got an email about an hour later saying that the order had been canceled. No one ever apologized about it being canceled, on either trip to the store. When we came to order a new one they gave some ridiculous reason about why it could have maybe been cancelled, which they blamed on us. A simple "I'm sorry that happened" would have been nice. On two occasions managers were brought in to help as the employee was having difficulties. Neither time did the managers greet us, explain what was going on, or really acknowledge our existence. I only got a minimal explanation when I finally asked questions about what the problem was. All three visits have been a frustrating and unpleasant experience. This 5 star is for Robert, the representative who helped us. We came in to upgrade a phone and ended up paying less than expected thanks to Rob. I can only imagine that most companies would encourage their employees to milk every dollar from the customer. Rob did the exact opposite. He went through the math and explained very thoroughly how adding a new line and cancelling it in 24 months would be cheaper than upgrading two phones. He explained this very well, managed to answer all of our questions, and was extremely patient and courteous. I write this because I hope this kind of behavior is encouraged and cultivated. I've been going to this store since it was still a Cingular store. I know, hella old! Anyway, I've been with Cingular (aka the new AT&T) since forever, and this has always been the place I visit whenever I need any help. From upgrading my services to buying new phones, I've never had any problems coming here for help. I just stopped by yesterday to purchase a new phone and upgrade my service. I bought the new BlackBerry Bold 9000, and an employee by the name of Justin was very helpful. He was able to answer all of my questions regarding the phone, and I was very grateful. The phone was $299 out the door, but there is a $100 mail-in rebate. The transaction was smooth for the most part. He also helped me set up my e-mail account on the phone. I'm only giving this place 2 stars because they saved me $50.. otherwise, it would've been lower. I came here because my mom and I needed to switch out a SIM card and since this is a corporate owned location, they didn't charge me (anywhere else would be $25 each SIM card). The guy that helped me was very friendly, talkative and nice. Activating the new SIM cards for us was no problem.. however, the problem arose when I got home, checked *DATA# and found out that he decided to upgrade BOTH phones from the 200mb data plan to the 2gb data plan without my consent. I could see if he accidentally did it for one phone, but BOTH?! Seems shady to me. Got it reversed right away by calling 611. Overall, I got what I needed to be done, but I don't appreciate him try to sneak that one in. Luckily I caught it, but I will definitely be more cautious the next time around. read more

A T & T DSL internet service in our area has been unstable with drop outs for years. Now we find that their 877 help number for e-mail assistance was worthless from a poorly trained young person who we must say was quite glib in a second language. For he took several minutes talking around the subject and finally telling us to try the Apple help folks. read more

Classic annoying experience of sales guy promising something he could not deliver, and then the consumer, me, spends an hour or so on the phone trying to get problem resolved. Started when went to switch phone service from Sprint--tired of running outside to back yard just to get reception. Thought I should switch to AT&T. Wife gets me a new Blackberry and so back to the store we go to allegedly activate. Clerk Anthony smiles and says phone will be working with my old Sprint number in a couple hours. Nothing. Make 3 phone calls today, ending with manager trying to give me a lecture about "portability" and how hard it is......I had to repeat all my old information a few more times just for shiggles. So either Anthony did nothing or should have just said "will take up to 48 hours." Note to all businesses, better to under promise and over deliver. read more

Wow! What a pleasant surprise! AT&T must have "heard" all the customer complaints about the haranguing upselling and changed the script for their employees. I had steeled myself to go in because of problems I was having with a replacement refurbished phone sent to me by their insurance arm Assurion. Instead of trying to sell me an expensive new phone and adding goodness knows what internet and TV services, they focused only on solving my problem! All staff were attentive, kind and patient. They went above and beyond to help me understand my replacement phone - a 7Plus instead of my old 6Plus - and got it all connected for me. Instead of being stressed, I left feeling uplifted and relieved by this unexpected positive experience. And with my new phone fully functional and ready to go. read more

Highly disappointed with the quality of service, I had received. If '0' stars was an option, that would be my choice. One day prior to leaving on a major road trip, I was sold a faulty iPhone 7, which gave illegal access to anyone and everyone to GPS my location 24/7, putting my safety, security, and privacy both on & offline in jeopardy. Who trains these employees, aren't they concerned with the quality of customer service they provide, or the lack thereof? Or, aren't they the least bit concerned about the safety, privacy, and security of a customers welfare/well-being? (Doubt it). Or is it merely all. about. the. sale, the money, and the upsell? Seriously, when I inquired about my device having calls and text messages on it, and it being named, when it was a brand new iPhone, I was given the pathetic explanation that it was because I had signed into my Apple ID. So, I returned to the store later that day and ended up having another employee take a look at it. She (didn't get her name), took my iPhone into the back office for a few minutes and gave me the signed into my Apple ID explanation. I wanted/needed to make sure. So she had me sign out, erase all data and restore the phone to its factory settings. When I reset the iPhone and signed back into my Apple ID, no phone numbers or text messages popped up, and my phone did not name itself. When I inquired about exchanging it for a brand new iPhone in a box that was still in its shrink wrap, I was told I would be charged a $45 exchange fee, of course, I asked why the fee, when the iPhone was clearly a faulty product and I had just purchased it that morning and was leaving for a 2.5 week road trip and needed to make sure I had a reliable phone. She insisted it wasn't the phone and that there wasn't anything that could be done about the $45 exchange fee, then she wanted to send me to the Apple store. Frustrating. I was literally leaving on a 2.5 week road trip the very next day and didn't have time to be running around fixing an issue that was clearly an error AT&T could have easily fixed, if their customer service was up to Par (which it obviously wasn't). The phone was purchased at their store not at the Apple Store, resolving the problem should have been their responsibility, instead, they tried to pass it off on the Apple Store. Eventually, I ended up calling the corporate customer service line who also told me, I would need to take it back to the store where the phone was purchased and speak with a manager, but by that time it was outside the return time I was given, which was 14-day, only to be informed by the corporate customer service rep, that the return time is 30 days. It was too late, I guess it was my fault that on my road trip, I didn't think of stopping in and taking time from my vacation (my last big road trip of the summer and my last major trip of grieving & healing from over 10 years of loss and trauma) to stop at a random AT&T store to fix a stupid error that could easily have been solved, before my trip. However, from that one poor interaction, I refuse to return to the downtown Walnut Creek AT&T store, honestly there is no reason why they didn't / couldn't just waive that exchange fee. I am VERY happy with this AT&T store right now. My husband and I have been trying to get our cell phones (with different area codes) onto a family plan for about 5 months. After spending an hour being told "no you can't do that," by the 1-800 customer service reps, we finally went into a store a couple of weeks ago. After being told we could in fact share a family plan, we bought new iPhones, realizing how much money we'd save being on the same plan. We didn't hear back from the person who helped us for a few weeks, and when I finally called and spoke to him again, he went back on his word and told us we couldn't do it. His manager basically forbid it. Awesome... Anyway, I got angry today and called what I thought at the time was the same store referenced above. I immediately asked for a manager and was transferred to Sean (Shawn?). I explained my situation and the crap that I'd been fed over the past few months, and he failed to understand why I was continually told we couldn't do it. After taking some information, he asked to call me back after he did some research, but that he was pretty sure they could do it. I was OBVIOUSLY doubtful, as I had been told this twice already, but 30 minutes later, Sean (Shawn?) called me back ready to set up our new FAMILY PLAN account. That moment in time, Sean (Shawn?) was my new hero. Seriously. In closing, I really need to call him back and apologize for accusing one of his employees to lying to me. So I bought a Samsung galaxy active last month and it had a glitch on the sound adjusting buttons, so I came in just thinking the store would fix it for me and give it back right away. However, it turned out I had to return my phone and get a new one. I still had all my data in the old one... Was scared of loosing everything. Max was so patient and nice about my problem. He was beyond awesome. I wish I had bought my phone from him instead of the girl in pleasant hill! If you're reading this Max, you deserve a raise! Took my wife's dead GS2 here to find out why it won't turn on. This was important because i just bought her a GS4 and needed to transfer all the data. This apparently can only be done if the phone is on. After about 30mins they find out its a dead battery, transfers the data and I leave with one of there spare brand new batteries. One of the worse experience with AT&T I have ever had. I've spent over 5 hours of my time trying to fix a mistake they made by sending me an extra iPhone 12. After spending almost 5 hours on the phone, they tell me to go to an AT&T store to take care of this issue. I was told by the customer service rep over the phone to make sure I speak with a manager. I went online yesterday to make the appointment for 3:00pm today, 2/21/21. There was no option to put any comments so after I made my appointment, I called the store so they could notate I need to speak with a manager. When I called the store manager, Marisa picked up and I explained my situation. She was helpful. She looked at my account and said she is putting notes in my account so when I come in for my appointment, I won't be spending hours there. She told me to ask for Jordan. When I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment, Jordan greeted me and I told him I have a 3:00pm appointment and that I was supposed to talk with him. I explained I spoke with Marisa and he gave me the deer in the headlights look. He said he would check me in and I would be the next person to be helped because he was finishing up with another customer. He asked me to wait outside because of the COVID rules, which I did. Around 3:00pm, the couple he was helping left so I was expecting to be called in next. As I waited, I saw Jordan walking around the store and at one point, he looked like he was just standing there waiting for someone to come in. I figured he may be finishing up the last transaction. Next thing I know, another couple walks right in and I see Jordan spend at least 5-10 minutes with them. It looks like he asked them to wait on a bench inside and then he starts walking around again. Around 3:20, another guy walks in and he asks Jordan if he's next. This guy waits next me outside and said they are busy. I asked if he had an appointment and he said no and that he's been waiting over 1 hour. He asks if I had an appointment and I said yes, at 3:00pm. At 3:30pm Jordan peaks his head out and calls in the other guy. I wanted to give Jordan the benefit of the doubt so I waited to see if he was going to hand him off to another associate. As i watched, Jordan sat down with this guy and started helping him, after he said I would be next and never acknowledging me. Never spoke to me to tell me they are running behind or anything. I was thinking about walking in and asking what the heck is going on, but that would do no one any good. Bottom line is that was one of the poorest customer service experiences I have ever encountered in my life. Not only at this store but with AT&T in general. My question to this store is why do you have an online appointment system if your associates don't care if you have an appointment???? read more

After 20 minutes, I got helped by Karl and informed him that I wanted to upgrade to 11 and if it was in stock. He could not tell me until I go through a series of promotions with him that lasted another 45 minutes. None interested me and I just wanted to upgrade the phone. I just want to make sure that anyone who comes into this store looking to set up a new account knows that the manager here, Millard Zumel, is simply amazing. As is the norm with most people dealing with a bloated company like AT&T, I ran into a variety of issues with corporate who tried to over charge me, cancel my service and a whole host of other things, but Millard Zumel was an absolute champion for me as a customer. Whilst corporate spent it's time blowing my concerns off and making me wait on hold for at least 4 hours, Millard was quick to respond to me and helped me deal with corporate and protected my rights as a customer. Whilst I may hesitate to recommend AT&T as a company, I would say that if you do end up going with them, come to this location and ask for Milard's help. He will take better care of you than any ISP provider ever has. read more

AT&T store. Olympic Blvd, Walnut Creek I recently went into the ATT store to add two phone lines for my kids and upgrade phones for my family (2 kids and 2 parents). Initially, we were met with smiles and a willingness to help. My wife had already done considerable research on what we wanted so this was expected to be a somewhat quick trip, though I had a few questions myself. We were iPhone users and expected to remain with the Apple line of products, though we wanted to consider other options. The lady at the store (Keesha, maybe) was very helpful and nice. However, as the process went on, she had to call in her manager to help out; there were some questions on what kind of deals we were eligible for. She was hesitant to give us what I thought was the correct deal, but after calling in her manager, he assured my wife and I, and the young lady helping us, that we could indeed get the deal we wanted. My wife left and I was going to finish up the process and as I went to pay, the transaction still wouldn't go through. In fact I had already paid for a portion of the transaction but the last step wouldn't work. Again, the manager had to be called over (Kaluba) and he went on to tell me that what I wanted was not feasible, contradicting his earlier statement. This put me off and I returned everything to head home. However, returning everything took another hour versus the "few minutes" that was told to me. I ended up wasting nearly three hours at the store with nothing to show for it but a parking ticket that I received during the time I was trying to return stuff. I went back the next day to try to figure this out and see if there was anything they could do for me. Kaluba said unfortunately no, he couldn't make up for my lost time and parking ticket, and perhaps his manager (the main store manager) could help in a few days when the manager was scheduled to be back. Still needing phones, I purchased the new phones for my wife and I, got the lines for my kids, and left with what I needed, though less than what I wanted, another 1.5 hours wasted. My wife's phone wasn't in but Kaluba said he could order it to be shipped to the store. An unusual practice, but he set up the order with another lady assisting me and he said it could be done. When my wife went to the store a few days later, not only was the phone not there because they can't deliver to the store, but the main manager wasn't there and no one could help my wife. In fact, Kaluba tried to place the blame of this shipping mishap and the fact that his manager wasn't there on me and one of the young ladies helping us. Not only was Kaluba not helpful in general, it appears he doesn't know what the store can offer (he said we'd get a certain deal when we couldn't) and it appears he's simply dishonest. I would highly recommend that you do not go to the downtown Walnut Creek ATT store and if you must, don't work with Kaluba. This whole process has put my on the fast track to changing my carrier. I may have issues with that carrier, but my hope is they hire better people. read more

Wonderful, WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!! I finally killed my iPhone blah blah. And needed to get new ones for my husband and me. Walked in the store on a Tuesday early afternoon, and was greeted immediately. I said "blah blah" and Peter basically said "Let's do this". And the rest was easy-peasy. I'm not kidding. I was able to talk in "dumb-person-about-technology" and he was kind and gentle in talking back in laymen's terms. So appreciated. Never condescending or patronizing, he just listened and explained--and well past his job's description. He is NOT the Apple Store, but he was so invested and informative. Yes, I will buy, and just be done. Show me some add ons, and I'll buy them. I just want EVERYTHING done. Pay a little more, fine--but he did find every little discount to be had. Had a great experience with Rachel. She was able to solve a frustrating problem that took a few hours to get thru. All the staff there were hard working and working extended holiday hours, and dealing with some unreasonable expectations from people walking in at 530 on a Sunday night. We came in to get my phone switched back on after my trip to the Apple store around the corner. Ugh yeah...if your I Phone fails...it's drama! That's another story. We have most of our services through AT&T. The employee asked if we would like to lower our bill. Well...of course! Who doesn't want to lower there bill? We went over the billl in December when making a purchase, but hey he said there were some good promotions going on. He worked on the phone meanwhile looking at the computer with the bill. The manager piping in "we can do this and that." They came up with an offer to lower the bill, but wait....only if you sign up for the alarm system which then brings the cost of the monthly bill to what it is. We declined. So, another offer comes up...we can get you this air card with no monthly fee...all the services bundled together lowering the bill by $80.00. How could we refuse. We don't need the air card, but if it's free, and you are lowing our monthly bottom line...why not? I'll tell you why not? We got home...the next day I get a call from Uverse talking about how I complained in store, and the AT&T representative was referred to call.What? We handled all this in store...deal done. NOT! She indicated that there is no such pricing for all the products we subscribe to. The deals do not exist. After being on the phone with her for 30 minutes being placed on hold...I got referred to the Wireless department for the air card which I was on hold for 20 minutes. Wireless department says they can't help me get out of this non existent deal which is a true increase in my bill. Finally, after I was referred back to the Uverse department she wanted to refer me to Wireless. OH MY GOD! Finally, I jumped in my car and took that device back to my local store. This is 2 hours of my life I will never get back, not counting the hour in the Walnut Creek store. Oh...they gave me no receipt...no break down for all these deals I was going to get. If you come to this store my advice to you is...be prepared for fast talking sales activity offering you the world you can't get. These services don't come cheap no matter what. If they make an offer, be sure to ask for a computer print out of the deal broken down. I'm sure there computer will reject the unreal, so they wil have to retract the fake offers. I give these 5 stars to Joey Montalto! I walked in with my iPhone I ordered from AT&T.com to get my contacts transfferred from old phone to new. The first person who helped me was super friendly, but Joey heard me as I was walking out and realized my phone wasn't probably set up yet and wanted to check it. He proceeded to hook my contacts up, email, teach me a few tricks on how to transfer my pictures and check my data plan to make sure I wouldn't get overcharged. My aunt was there with her iPhone and he answered some of her questions to. We were so impressed! The BEST customer service I've had in so long. Fake service. When the antiquated 3G in my iPhone 4 didn't work, run to the AT&T store I go after an hour of phone support that didn't help at all. They tried to help. They didn't reach a resolution so they said it was a device problem and referred me to Apple. With the Apple Store (Walnut Creek) right next door, it was convenient. Apple Store didn't even bat an eyelash and said it was a network problem. Go back to AT&T. Got back to AT&T and assistant manager Ashley Torres, who helped me earlier, had Simone Bernstine intercept me so I won't bother her anymore. The thing was, suddenly it wasn't just me having a network problem. There were now two of us and the other guy was a tall, white male...someone who can't be ignored. Obviously, me, the brown Filipino guy, was not crying "wolf." Simone Bernstine gave me her card and her boss' as well. She told me to call when I'm already pulling my hair out of frustration. This happened on Memorial Day holiday. By Thursday, no resolution has happened. I called both Ashley Torres and Simone Torres to no avail. All those "helpful" smiles were fake and they can't wait to get you out of their store if you're not buying something expensive or upgrading to iPhone 4S. I'm BEING HELD HOSTAGE BY AT&T just because I still like my 2 year old phone. Bought my iPhone 6 from this location two years ago with a two year financing service. Their sales people are LIARS or just incompetent. They said the bill would go down once the phone was paid off - not true. Now AT&T will not unlock the phone even though I paid off the phone last month. The worst customer service ever. Waiting 1.5 hour to get attention from sales assistant who had to go and ask his manager about everything like 10 times. Why don't you train your employees to be able to answer all the question? System is just not working. Very disappointed. read more
