What I found odd about this store is the fact it's not too far from Pier 1, and some of the items you could find at both locations. Here's Kirkland's in a nutshell. It is a great place to get home decor items that you will see everywhere else. Like wooden painted signs with cute messages, frames, mirrors, lamps, candles, wire baskets, throw pillows, and a few furniture items (think Joanna Gaines). Take Hobby Lobby + Tuesday Morning + World Market + Joanne Fabrics + Pier 1. It was the perfect shape and style, and Matt and Meghan helped figure out a way to refinish it just the way I wanted. I am so thrilled and the experience was really fun and amazing. Bolingbrook might be easier to access (there is quite a bit of construction around Schaumburg currently) and I would also debate it is not as busy as this location. However, I did notice the Schaumburg store is not only much cleaner and well maintained, but has way more showrooms and creative displays. I guess if I were buying or in a hurry I go to Bolingbrook and if I was meandering and idea hunting I'd go to Schaumburg. The reason why there are so many showrooms is because this store spans three floors and is in fact, one of the largest Ikeas in America! It is huge and even as a veteran Ikea shopper I still got turned around a couple times. One thing that's nice is this store has the ability to stock more items so I found they had all the items I wanted available. I also noticed this location appeared to have customer service at every corner. I don't know if it's because I went on the weekend but I was thoroughly impressed at how well staffed they were and how friendly employees were during our interactions.

The food selection in the grocery area seemed more limited, and the vegetarian options I was looking forward to purchasing were out of stock. There was some confusion for me regarding the signs near the restaurant promoting their plant-based hot dog. I went to one of the kiosks to order, but we couldn't find it anywhere. It turns out that you can only order these at the small food court after the checkout area.

The items look to be the same good quality you would expect from The Container Store, there's just less holiday options and prices are higher. For example, there are some pretty red and holiday color boxes with satin bows for an easy way to wrap a gift, but some of the boxes were $10.99 and up. I always check back here after the holidays, as I have found some great deals on plastic storage bins for ornaments or decorations after Christmas.

I'd passed by Harrington Manor numerous times before and based solely on name and the fancy walk-up…read moresteps into 'the manor', I'd decided not to even bother heading in to shop, assuming it was far too fancy of home decor for my pauper pocketbook. This weekend I was in the area hitting up it's neighbor stores, the thrift shop, the liquor store and the Argentinean grill, and felt like I was being a real jerk singling out one of the four businesses on this strip to not patronize, so I decided to take a peak in... well, I guess that's only half of it. What really drew me in was that they had a bit of a weekend sidewalk sale going on and you know how hard it is to pass up a bargain. The items on their sidewalk sale table were classic, yet whimsical and awfully unique. We followed the steps of the manor upward and onward to find a really fine collection of surprisingly reasonable-priced items for home decor. The selection wasn't all that varied - it definitely appealed to a certain kind of taste, but not in a bad way. I was drawn to their ample selection of decorative animal items - a particularly fine selection of owl and bunny merch... but not the super girly type stuff that a guy might be embarrassed of, just a lot of nice, neutral animal gems. While mostly full of decorative items, they also carry a small selection of moderate-level jewelry and candles. It's a small shop but they have enough nooks that it actually holds quite a bit. Beyond the very affordable items inside (or at least the ones I'd flipped over seemed below what I was expecting as far as retail price), they really knew how to put on a sale. They had these really cool pineapple garden stand pillars that were originally $49 each, marked down on clearance to $4 and beyond some very minor scratches that you'd expect, they were in perfect condition. Based on savings alone I was tempted to buy. Moral: Don't judge this Manor by it's cover. While still slightly regal, it's remains humble in it's listings.
