The dranks are delicious and fairly priced. Actually the best price in this area. The patrons respect the jukebox and vibe to everyone's selection #no judgement. I really like this place a lot. After starting taco tuesday at El Sauz across the street, i talked my girlfriend and our friends to have a drink at O'Connell's . I wanted to go there for last year's Euro Final but someone told me to get drunk in the comfort of my own home. Plus i was wearing a Spain jersey so it might have been a bad idea. LOL. We walk in, and its a double door feature to get into the bar. They have a lot of high table seating and some set places. Lots of TVs and they were showing a grip of classic baseball movies and games. I had a vodka tonic and it was pretty good. My friends had draft beers and the prices were not bad. In the other room they have a pair of pool tables and to our surprise, a shuffleboard. It also had a small window where you could order food from the place next door that catered to your munchie needs. At this point in my life, I've been drinking for a while. I can confidently say that this is the trashiest absolute waste of your time bar I've ever been to in my decade of drinking. For a dive bar they're pretty stingy, for a vibe they're an absolute C-fest of mediocre taste, and for staff they seem like the absolute lowest common denominator, mouth breathing, maaaaybe 16 word knowing people. I love to come & enjoy a burger & a few drinks every now & then & never had a bad experience until last night. My friends & I were playing some pool having a good time until the regulars came in & right from the start were making my friends & I feel uncomfortable. They were making weird & LOUD comments to each other talking about us & just giving us these stares. I went to go & complain to the employees there but of course they do nothing. He just told me to write it down on a napkin but I know that will not be reached out to management. A bar should be a more welcoming environment definitely did not feel welcomed or safe. read more

A long time ago, when I first went to this bar, I met a bartender who I confess I must have misread his vibe. I thought he didn't like me being there. He didn't say anything. He just didn't seem friendly at all, but anyway, I wanted later on by going there, especially after he somehow knew it was me that I had written the review and I apologized. so I want you officially take back my negative comment about Ron. He comes across very deadpan. Don't take him for that. He's actually a warm and funny guy but totally dead Pam I mean he's the kind of guy that can joke around and not smile at all and as I keep going back to the bar, my favorite part of the whole world as I keep going back there whenever I see him, we say hello to each other we get along with really good but here Rhonda is for you this is you know my my apology for never coming back to yelp and correcting my fuck up. Cozy crazy local pub. Bartenders are fun. The patrons are a good time. Beers are cold. What else ya need? Went recently to enjoy some St Pattys day shenanigans and I caught a leprechaun. He didn't tell me where his pot o gold was but he encouraged me to hook up with him for good luck. This place is disgusting. I live on the same street and literally walk a block out of my way each day just to avoid walking past because every time I have, I've been harassed by a (different) guy standing outside smoking a cigarette and falling down drunk. This happens in the middle of the afternoon on weekdays. And the door to the pub is always open and bartenders never intervene. Management is sketchy af to be over serving so much and doing nothing about their harassing customers. read more

Great dive bar in Long Beach! Cold beer, food is right next from MVP Sandwiches next door, with a door open that connects for quick easy service. Food is delish. Good music and seems to have regulars that are very welcoming. Haven't been here in years and definitely will be coming here more often. Came here last night for one drink and the bartender on shift (Jeff or jack) was incredibly unprofessional and rude. He hit on me and once I was uninterested he became hostile. I politely asked for a bigger cup to combine my juice and shot and he said no, someone offered me their glass and when I took it (jeff or jack) grabbed me by the forearm and yanked the drink out of my hand, it was my first drink of the night and I was very polite to everyone there before this happened. Then the short bouncer with long hair dragged me out of my seat by the shoulders after the drink was ripped from my hand. I forgot something in the bathroom and when my friend came with me to go get it I was shoved out once again. I did nothing wrong, I usually love this place but this is unacceptable. read more

Solid dive bar! Easy parking - there is a lot out back as well as a ton of parking in the neighborhood. The space was pretty accessible with wide aisles between tables but the tables were primarily hightops, which poses an accessibility concern. It would be awesome if a few low tops were added They don't card at the door, but we did get there pretty early in the evening. It is definitely a dive bar and isn't the most aesthetic or clean place in the world, but it's got a classic charm and is locally famous for making strong drinks. I also found all the activities fun! They have two pool tables, shuffle board, and a little jukebox that allows you to pick the music playing in the whole bar. read more

Wished they had regular Coronas and not the new light, I didn't requested the low calorie one and didn't notice until I inhaled it lol (not a fan of its watery flavor). Terrible service! Transphobic! Rude bartenders, atmosphere is a sausage party. The bartender and bouncer were extremely rude to me and my girl friends who just came for a few drinks and were nothing but respectful all night. Bouncer made a big deal of my friend using the male restroom which is illegal, all bathrooms should be gender neutral. He also blabbed his big mouth to all the other guys that there was a "chick taking a piss". We used to love this place, extremely disappointed. read more

Went around 3/4pm On st. Pattys day to have a drink and eat MVP's. O'conEll's denied to make me a Bloody Mary "I don't really drink and if I do that is what I enjoy" when I asked why they can't make one they said it's too time consuming and they're busy. "Less then 10 people and two bar tenders." I said I'm pretty easy it can be tomato juice and vodka. They still denied me so I refused to give them my business and did not order anything. I LOVE DIVE BARS!!! Yes, it is true... How about you? It is old, dark and mysterious! Hahahahha... Ok not so mysterious. It is a great spot, with cheap drinks and great bartenders. Plenty of TVs so you can watch your sports team, and an MVPs literally next door (Connected to the bar). They have pool tables, a shuffle board (Say What!), and an awesome juke box. The bathrooms are a bit run down, but it is a friggen dive bar. Bring your CASH MONEY and plop on down on an old bar stool and prepare to hop on the wasted magic carpet ride. Enjoy! read more

RUDE! Harassed by the owner!! Go somewhere with good people. Didn't go here and wasn't planning to but parked behind it. Well I didn't know the lot was even behind a business. Larger old man yells at me, you can't park here!! there is zero sign but okay. I was oh okay, I walk back to my car looking at him confused, in a rude tone he says, "why are you looking at me like that!" "Oh there's just not a sign" he just went off! I let him know we are leaving there is no issue just want to let you know you should have a sign to in force it. I'm literally at the door of my car to move it. He keeps yelling get the hell out it's my private lot! I didn't raise my voice once and wasn't planning on staying. I work in a place where we have to sometimes ask people to leave but you don't need to attack people who aren't even arguing it. Sorry for asking why I didn't know there was a business! It's close, it's cheap, and it's pretty chill. It may look a little disreputable from the outside, but it's surprisingly spacious and clean-looking on the inside. It has a lot of TVS, a couple of pool tables, a juke box, and a fair amount of tables. First visit might just be my last. Super-unfriendly bartender (to be honest, he was rude) from the moment we walked in (we were 100% sober and polite lest you wonder if we deserved it!) The most charitable thing I can imagine is that he wanted to be anywhere but slinging drinks that night. My Jack and Coke here was probably the weakest pour of the night. Ok, this is my counter review to St. Nick's. You know what makes a dive bar? 1) A resident crack whore, 2) an establishment replete with smells ranging from its patrons to things you don't need to know about, 3) a hall of fame of 86ed hooligans, and lastly 4) a pool table Nazi. O'Connell's has all those things and therefore is deserving of it's 5 stars. I've been coming here since my fake I.D. days and O'Connell's draws all types in one night....from the guys that have been there all day to the hokey frat crowd to the groups of newly 21 y/ old girls looking for love in all the wrong places. Drinks make you wince, it can get hella packed from Thursday to Saturday. Parking is all neighborhood street style. But best of all, it is a stop on the 4rth Street Bar Crawl (O'Connell's, The Red Room, Club Cheri, Ferns, The V Room, and Clancy's). Five minutes into this baby and you'll want to go home and shower. Didn't start as a natural bartender, but always smiling and excellent service. He has become a perfect early day replacement for some of the classic bartenders before him. Rod is the salt of the earth. He is one of the reasons I come here. He might be a little edgy but he's the best. Super attentive. This bar is the answer to loud bars that don't pay attention to patrons. It is a cash bar but they do have a ATM. This place is a gem.
