Stopped by this spot on the way to Vegas and found it to be a solid, no-frills place for a quick bite. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, which was genuinely enjoyable. The broth had good depth and richness without being overly heavy, and you can tell the ingredients were fresh. Nothing groundbreaking, but definitely satisfying and well-executed. The Takoyaki was also a highlight--nicely seasoned and flavorful, though fair warning: it's very hot on the inside, so take your time before biting in. The mixed pork and beef box was another decent option, hearty and filling, with good flavor overall. Service-wise, this is very much a self-serve, casual setup. You place your order at the counter, grab a seat, and wait for your pager to buzz when the food is ready. No table service here, and you're expected to bus your own table afterward--but honestly, it's no big deal and fits the vibe of the place. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, despite the no-frill style. Even the restroom was tidy, which is always appreciated. Parking is plentiful and easy, making it a convenient stop, especially if you're traveling. Overall, this is a decent spot with okay food--not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit, but a perfectly good option if you're hungry and nearby. It works especially well as a rest stop on a road trip to Vegas when you want something warm, filling, and reliable before getting back on the road.

Decided to use the electric car on the road trip to Vegas and needed to charge in Barstow. The tesla chargers failed on our Mach E today at the outlets but we still needed to eat so we drove over here. The chicken fried rice was great. Miso ramen was loaded with noodles (can I even say too much lol). Hubby got chicken teriyaki stick box that I thought had too much teriyaki sauce but he said he liked it that way. It was charbroiled just right. The cabbage stir fry side veggies were made plain but if you transfer some of the teriyaki sauce it works well. The place is large, clean and airy. I'm totally turning into my dad to find Chinese places on vacations and this one worked out. Will probably be going here on the trips to Vegas.

Cute little shop located in Barstow. The server was great and helped me order a cute fruit slushie boba. I had to order the fruit because they don't offer alternative milk, which was a bit disappointing. They also didn't have just brown sugar milk tea (Which let's be honest, is mostly milk) But what I got was delicious and I really enjoyed it! I didn't eat anything there but I for sure will stop back in the next time I'm passing through!

we ordered the wonton noodles, veggie chicken/pork combo and mango smoothie. with the cost of their food, it is exaggeratedly expensive. food taste so bad. the veggies are super salty, pork and chicken breaded taste old, salty and as hard as rock. the wonton noodles only has 2 wonton and 2 large bokchoy with plenty of noodles. noodles is not properly cooked and taste bad, its worst than cup a noodles!! the soup of the noodles is like broth & its not even hot for soup! see the photo, we wasted our money! the mango slushie is a lot of ice with powder mango and booba. taste like sugar in an ice crushed! no matter how hungry you are DO NOT COME HERE!!! you will only waste your time and money.

This is one of those places, where if you are a trucker driving through town, this is going to be the last stop until a very long time where you will be able to pick up some fast casual Chinese street food such and such as pork cutlet rice, spicy szechuan, wontons, or even braised beef noodle soup. This restaurant is what I call a necessity amongst all the big chain franchises whereby they actually serve food in the middle of nowhere with extreme convenience and they bring that kinda Asian Night Market feel to you so you don't have to venture into East Los Angeles or book a trip across the Pacific. The food isn't like "That's a Banger!" or at the level of top shelf...but for opening up in the Badlands of Barstow...this is the closest thing you will get to Certified Asian Authenticity. I've done my best over the course of 2-3 years to come out to Ate8 whenever I get the chance on a long drive and they've kept the same consistency, always delivering a humble meal to us clientele, so an applause to the team and staff for keeping this place open and serving the countless of tourists, locals and truck drivers running about. So for any of you who come here your first time, try out the Braised Beef Noodle Soup they have condiments on the side you can pour down some chilli oil, sambal salsa, etc and just have a decent go at it. And while your at it, they have an array of other options that will at least fill one of your voids. You can tell the owner is a gambling addict with with all those red tiles referencing winning in Mahjong....and with a name like Ate8 -- eighty8 -- 88 -- 八八 (BaBa) -- 發發 You know the owner is 120% some Cantonese Owner Chef + Part Time Casino Baccarat Patron And ladies and gentlemen, that's how you tell you have a legit Chinese restaurant in the middle of nowhere. I love Taiwanese Soup and this hit for sure! Very flavorful broth, be sure to get the additional sauces on the side to dip the beef onto, it's really good. Quick service at the time I visited.

On our trip to Las Vegas, we stopped at the Barstow Outlet to search someplace to eat, and my family is always seeking for restaurants that offer noodles or ramen. We found one place called "Ate8 Noodle House". The boss is Taiwanese, and this restaurant serves Taiwanese bentos, noodles, and other dishes. It's a fast Chinese food restaurant, but the food is really tasty and the pricing are affordable. I've saved this place for future visits to Barstow Outlet, and we will surely return to try more foods.

We ordered the beef braised noodles. Pretty good portion w/ like 5 big chunk of meat, bokchoy n lot of noodles. Price a bit steep but its kinda middle of nowhere so i get it. Broth is flavorful, inside is really big and chill. They have lot of snacks on sale too. Good stop for going between places!

Trying something different at our halfway spot on the way to Vegas. Nice selection of food, large, clean dining room good assortment of Asian snacks to buy as well. The veggies were a bit on the bland side as they were from a frozen bag, but the soup was tasty as were the shrimp and chicken on the plate. They have a good assortment of condiments and clean bathrooms.

Came here due to Yelp good rating and the food photos looked really good to eat! And yes, this did not disappoint! We were a bit iffy since when we came the place was empty and place is pretty big and open. However, as we were already seated,, some people started coming in. You order on the counter and they will call you when order is ready. Food came quickly. Place is nice and clean. We got the pork chop and the chicken fried rice. Both flavorful and delish! Decided to try this restaurant on the way back from Vegas. There's not many Chinese food options but this one looked decent. I'm glad I stopped by! Their Wonton Noodle Soup had deep onion flavor and that authentic taste - I'll be ordering this again! Wasn't too impressed with the Beef Noodle Soup but others in my party thought it was good. Water is self serve and the restaurant itself had plenty of seating. Parking wasn't an issue either. read more

I came here for dinner on Valentine's Day and I was disgusted. I made the mistake of ordering the pricey Tonkatsu ramen, which was completely artificial and prepackaged ingredients. The broth was full of MSG and I was extremely disappointed. The iced coffee was incredibly bitter and gave a bad taste for hours after. Over $100 dollars for gross food and small portions. Service was lazy. It took 30 minutes to reheat the prepackaged slop and they didn't even bring the food 20 feet to us. Chopsticks were weak, and the lady up front had a hard time listening to my order and questions. Ambiance was cheap. Dollar store artwork all over and inexpensive chairs, plastic spoons, and paper plates. Very crammed at the front with $35 labubu kid toys and they don't even have a soda serving machine. This place is a waste of your money and I would highly recommend finding a decent place to take your business. Thank you for ruining my Valentine's Day dinner, Ate8 Noodle House. read more

We had chicken udon and a rice dish. The food was just ok, a quick stop on our road trip. Food was very salty, overpriced for its portion and quality. The veggies in the soup seems like left over randomly chopped up vegetables. No table service. It's a fast food restaurant. You pay at the counter first and then pick up your food when it's ready. This has to be one of the worst meals I've eaten in a very long time. There is an odd flavor after every bite of everything I ate here. I'm not sure if the oil they use is old but it's a terrible aftertaste in my mouth. Sadly I couldn't get through even half of this meal, it was so nasty. How do you ruin RICE? Stopped over at barstow on our way to Sequoia from Vegas. The lady at the cashier was friendly and helped us choose our food. Super good food! You will want to eat all the meat til the bone on the porkchop. Beef noodle soup has just the right amount of kick. The Thai tea paired so well with the food. The decor around was super cute. If you play mahjong, youll see the circle suit along the wall which I thought was cute. There was even a framed mahjong set up. read more

A really cool idea especially in a pretty small town. Prob as authentic as you're gonna get in this neck of the woods. But if you're looking for healthy, you may be disappointed. If you just want good solid fried chicken, pork chops, go for that bento box! They also serve boba. It's a nice atop for snacks and a meal. Order at the counter style. Nice people. Everything could be improved. I've been 2 times this year, each time hoping the food returns to it's Grand Opening quality. Nawww. A side of spaghetti noodles with Swanson-ish (super salty) broth, and a few slices of meat ( the meat IS good), does not constitute soup that costs these prices. read more

Came by here while on the road to Vegas and was surprised by the simple menu that had a solid selection of choices. The udon noodle comes with 2 pieces of fried tofu skin and 4 shrimp tempuras which is a very fair combo. There was also a wide variety of snacks for sale, which is super great for road trips. The lady at the counter was really friendly and the food came out pretty quickly. Ate8 Noodle house is a sit in restaurant but you have to order & pay in advance r for your food. So it's kinda of like food court, but it only belong to 1 restaurant only. The food is good, a little bit pricey for the quality & the quantity of the food. Service is good and fast. U just have to get up & get your own water on the counter. I don't stay in the area often, so I maybe come back when around the area read more

For the middle of nowhere barstow this not bad! I got the hotpot looking set for $20. They gave very little neat but it was soft and thin. The soup base tasted like the beef noodle soup, they had lots of broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots. Then had 3 fish balls and 3 small shrimps with vermicelli. Hit my noodle craving! My hubs got the porkchop over rice. Its overly fried. The beef over rice was super salty. It also cane with a tea egg, mayo cabbage, and lots of rice. Would stick with the noodle soups. Its all self serve style so dont forget to clean up! read more

I came across this place on Yelp as I was searching for Asian soup. Luckily, I was nearby this place as it was conveniently located next to Barstow outlet on the way home from vegas. The ambiance is like a food court but it was spacious & kept clean. There's one person at the cash register & you have to order & pay first before you sit down to wait for your food. Place was nearly empty so we didn't have to wait long to get our food. Husband & I both ordered the braised beef noodles. We didn't have any expectations about this place but we were impressed with the flavor of the broth & generous portion of beef & bok choy! It was good. And the temperature of broth was nice & hot too. Was it the best beef stew noodles I've ever had? No, I've had better & that's why I'm giving it a 4 star rating. Went on Valentines Day. Empty restaurant, but greeted with a very nice worker. Ordered the Taiwanese Braised Beef Noodle Soup, Spicy Wontons, and a Strawberry lemonade w/ no boba. Taiwanese beef soup was good, portion was smaller than imagined but the noodles are a good amount and have a good bite (chew) to them. The soup was kind of salty. Beef pieces- not many. But tasty. Spicy wontons had a "mala" numbing sauce but mild spice lvl for my taste. The wontons themselves were kind of down played. Tasty but very small and more wrapper than filling so that was kind of underwhelming and disappointing. Strawberry lemonade was good. Very expensive. But if you're a local with not many places of this kind of food to enjoy, it's OK once in a while. I paid $32 for all of that. Lots of seating (cafeteria style) with some decor and a lot of asian snacks incase you need them for your travels. read more

Ate8 Dumpling & Noodle House is a Chinese fast food concept bringing the food court/cafeteria style from the island of Taiwan! All around the island, shopping malls, office complexes and highway rest areas are littered with quick serve hot food shops; however, most of the shops have limited ventilation systems, which restrain menu choices from having too much wok cooking recipes. In a typical food court, you'll hear a barrage of noise; office workers on their lunch hour screaming for their food, babies crying over family chatter, students laughing and if you're at one of the highway rest area locations you'll hear trucks rolling in and out from all sides. For this reason, beepers are necessary since no one can hear anything!

Ate 8 Dumpling & Noodle House The number 8 in the Chinese language sounds very similar to the word prosperity. In addition, if you turn the number 8 on its side, it'll be an infinity symbol, which is also a symbol of prosperity i.e. infinite wealth! I'm sure most of you are asking "Why would you eat (or ate) an 8?" This not only was a play on words trying to have two number 8's but also came from the origins of this particular location. A day not so long ago, the owner was in Taiwan playing a game of mahjong with his friends. He won a hand after someone threw out a number 8 tile and his luck turned for the better from that hand on. At the end of the game, all four players all went out to have some noodles and pot stickers at a local food court and the concept was born. All from a game of Mahjong!

The fries we requested at around 10:13pm was hot and fresh. By the time our whole order was ready to be called for us to pick up at the front counter. This location is not quite as good as some of the others though. On my last few visits I've had a few disappointments, which ranged from the bread tasting a little stale to noticeably smaller portions (as well as one time getting a ridiciulously massive portion), to my order being slightly wrong (they forgot to leave off the mayonnaise or gave me white bread instead of wheat). This location is definitely inconsistent. Several times this location has been out of ice and the soda fountain hasn't been working, or they haven't had any diet soda options available. We've been given refunds on the sodas we ordered a couple of different times because of this. I like to order ahead through the app to save time, which is so valuable on the exhausting drive from Nevada to California. I order about 15 minutes before arrival, and my food has almost always been waiting for me. The dining room is small and has seen better days, but I've never felt unsafe eating in there. Barstow is kinda sketchy especially at night, but it's well lit and isn't filled with unsavory characters like some of the other quick service restaurants in the area always seem to be. My go-tos here are the chicken cheesesteak when I want a hot sub to the veggie or turkey and cheese when I'm craving a cold sandwich. Depending on who makes your order, you'll either get an overstuffed sub that's loaded with meat and veggies or you'll get a sandwich that leaves you hungry. There is no in-between. I do think this location skimps on the veggies and toppings, which is a letdown. I love lots of lettuce, tomatoes, and especially the sweet peppers on the chicken cheesesteak. I call Jersey Mike's my stop for elevated road trip food. It's not gourmet, but it certainly is reliable, hearty, and convenient for fueling up. While it's messy to eat in the car, it's a good spot to take a break before hitting the really crazy traffic going into Los Angeles.

The beef ribs were not as tender as I would like (I am a pork rib kinda girl) but they weren't bad. The only thing that I really didn't like was the squash. I make squash and onions all the time and I could not place what was off. The closest I can come is maybe they had sat too long or the oil was old? I'm not sure but they were sadly disappointing. All and all it was a pleasant experience and we will likely be back. Definitely worth the stop if you are driving through Barstow.

However, on this detour home we had Mary Anne as our waitress and she was amazing. Very friendly and she made sure our that's drinks we're always refilled and that we have plenty of condiments. She let us know about the Denny's reward program, which we signed up for and even offered us desert but we had to pass it up because we were to full. The food was hot and our order came out super fast. Everyone was happy and we left with full belly's! We will be back next time.

Service was good, my server was fast and checked up on me often. It's definitely a neighborhood favorite. You can't miss their sign in the parking lot and out front it stands out too. It was a guy's birthday and they sang happy birthday to him and put on this ridiculously over sized cowboy hat on him and he didn't like it, but I thought it was cute/funny. Pizza is pretty standard with a decent crust. Again, I'm definitely coming back to try their pastas in the future.

The menu price in yelp is not accurate, everything pretty much inreased by $4 which is 40% jump from advertised price. You are required to pay up front at the time of ordering so I added 15% tip up front but turned out this place is self service with no servers and we have to walk to get foods and drinks ourself and take the plates and plastic utensils back to the counter when we're done. The interesting part was all of 7 people in our group said the same thing "Food doesn't taste good at all and was not worth it to come" We will never return to this place again! read more

Awesome service and even better food! I've had Taiwanese food in OC and honestly, none of them hold a candle to this place. The spicy broth is incredible and it freed up my sinuses on a cold day. Highly recommend! read more
