    Moldy food
    Wilma D.

The prices are too steep to be receiving moldy veggies. Place already looked sketch to begin with, but it's proven to be disgusting and poorly managed.

Decided to use the electric car on the road trip to Vegas and needed to charge in Barstow. The tesla chargers failed on our Mach E today at the outlets but we still needed to eat so we drove over here. The chicken fried rice was great. Miso ramen was loaded with noodles (can I even say too much lol). Hubby got chicken teriyaki stick box that I thought had too much teriyaki sauce but he said he liked it that way. It was charbroiled just right. The cabbage stir fry side veggies were made plain but if you transfer some of the teriyaki sauce it works well. The place is large, clean and airy. I'm totally turning into my dad to find Chinese places on vacations and this one worked out. Will probably be going here on the trips to Vegas.

Stopped by this spot on the way to Vegas and found it to be a solid, no-frills place for a quick bite. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, which was genuinely enjoyable. The broth had good depth and richness without being overly heavy, and you can tell the ingredients were fresh. Nothing groundbreaking, but definitely satisfying and well-executed. The Takoyaki was also a highlight--nicely seasoned and flavorful, though fair warning: it's very hot on the inside, so take your time before biting in. The mixed pork and beef box was another decent option, hearty and filling, with good flavor overall. Service-wise, this is very much a self-serve, casual setup. You place your order at the counter, grab a seat, and wait for your pager to buzz when the food is ready. No table service here, and you're expected to bus your own table afterward--but honestly, it's no big deal and fits the vibe of the place. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, despite the no-frill style. Even the restroom was tidy, which is always appreciated. Parking is plentiful and easy, making it a convenient stop, especially if you're traveling. Overall, this is a decent spot with okay food--not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit, but a perfectly good option if you're hungry and nearby. It works especially well as a rest stop on a road trip to Vegas when you want something warm, filling, and reliable before getting back on the road.

I love Taiwanese Soup and this hit for sure! Very flavorful broth, be sure to get the additional sauces on the side to dip the beef onto, it's really good. Quick service at the time I visited.

Cute little shop located in Barstow. The server was great and helped me order a cute fruit slushie boba. I had to order the fruit because they don't offer alternative milk, which was a bit disappointing. They also didn't have just brown sugar milk tea (Which let's be honest, is mostly milk) But what I got was delicious and I really enjoyed it! I didn't eat anything there but I for sure will stop back in the next time I'm passing through!

what was that old saying? When in Rome? Well here's a modification to that, "When in Barstow!"

This is one of those places, where if you are a trucker driving through town, this is going to be the last stop until a very long time where you will be able to pick up some fast casual Chinese street food such and such as pork cutlet rice, spicy szechuan, wontons, or even braised beef noodle soup. This restaurant is what I call a necessity amongst all the big chain franchises whereby they actually serve food in the middle of nowhere with extreme convenience and they bring that kinda Asian Night Market feel to you so you don't have to venture into East Los Angeles or book a trip across the Pacific. The food isn't like "That's a Banger!" or at the level of top shelf...but for opening up in the Badlands of Barstow...this is the closest thing you will get to Certified Asian Authenticity. I've done my best over the course of 2-3 years to come out to Ate8 whenever I get the chance on a long drive and they've kept the same consistency, always delivering a humble meal to us clientele, so an applause to the team and staff for keeping this place open and serving the countless of tourists, locals and truck drivers running about. So for any of you who come here your first time, try out the Braised Beef Noodle Soup they have condiments on the side you can pour down some chilli oil, sambal salsa, etc and just have a decent go at it. And while your at it, they have an array of other options that will at least fill one of your voids. You can tell the owner is a gambling addict with with all those red tiles referencing winning in Mahjong....and with a name like Ate8 -- eighty8 -- 88 -- 八八 (BaBa) -- 發發 You know the owner is 120% some Cantonese Owner Chef + Part Time Casino Baccarat Patron And ladies and gentlemen, that's how you tell you have a legit Chinese restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Cheers.

Great unexpected find, better than the fast food options surrounding it. We gambled and were pleasantly surprised.

On our trip to Las Vegas, we stopped at the Barstow Outlet to search someplace to eat, and my family is always seeking for restaurants that offer noodles or ramen. We found one place called "Ate8 Noodle House". The boss is Taiwanese, and this restaurant serves Taiwanese bentos, noodles, and other dishes. It's a fast Chinese food restaurant, but the food is really tasty and the pricing are affordable. I've saved this place for future visits to Barstow Outlet, and we will surely return to try more foods.

We ordered the beef braised noodles. Pretty good portion w/ like 5 big chunk of meat, bokchoy n lot of noodles. Price a bit steep but its kinda middle of nowhere so i get it. Broth is flavorful, inside is really big and chill. They have lot of snacks on sale too. Good stop for going between places!

First time eating at this little gem last night! I had the braised beef noodle soup and some potstickers! The flavors were exceptional and it was an amazing meal! Love this spot and plan to return.

Trying something different at our halfway spot on the way to Vegas. Nice selection of food, large, clean dining room good assortment of Asian snacks to buy as well. The veggies were a bit on the bland side as they were from a frozen bag, but the soup was tasty as were the shrimp and chicken on the plate. They have a good assortment of condiments and clean bathrooms.

This has to be one of the worst meals I've eaten in a very long time. There is an odd flavor after every bite of everything I ate here. I'm not sure if the oil they use is old but it's a terrible aftertaste in my mouth. Sadly I couldn't get through even half of this meal, it was so nasty. How do you ruin RICE? This sucks because I was really hoping this place would be good. I will never eat here again.

We found parking easily and walked on - as soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly - always a good sign! The inside was very clean - it took us a minute to remember the menu because we don't get there often. Ordering was easy and the person at the counter was super friendly! Food was made quickly and was very tasty, hot and fresh! When we were finished I went to thrown our trash and put the tray back and I noticed the gentleman who was making the food and told him everything was delicious! First, and probably the most important, they don't have Diet Pepsi, but Pepsi Zero. And Pepsi Zero is just awful. And yes, I tried it. I admit that I'm a fan of Coke products, but I'll survive on Diet Pepsi, never, but never Pepsi Zero. So that alone makes me not want to come here anymore. This trip, the girl taking our order seemed confused. Maybe she was new? But it didn't help that we had to explain we wanted a bowl of Chili, and even though it's not on the menu, they could sell it. I personally didn't want a burger this time, so I ordered a chicken sandwich, which is basically just chicken tenders on a bun. Not very impressed, but it wasn't as bad as Pepsi Zero. They do get credit for having a "senior" menu, which I ordered from. And I appreciate that they have tater tots. It seemed like a smaller portion, but it was actually perfect for me. I'll keep checking back, but if I see they still only serve Pepsi Zero, I might be walking over the McD's for my drink.

Dine in: May 15, 2026…read more It's my first time trying the Original Tommy's burger restaurant. We came here specifically for the 80 cent chili cheeseburgers deal for their 80th anniversary. There was so many people waiting in line to order and also waiting for there foods. The hype of the chili cheeseburgers isn't even that awesome. It was a waste of my 2 hours+ for the foods that taste similar to sloppy joe from the cafeteria. It felt so suffocating waiting for our foods since there's so many people already waiting before us. The lighting was bright and it's pretty spacious but felt pretty off with everyone still waiting 2-3 hours+ for their orders. Its very chaotic while several customer's were going nuts because of the wait. While they were complaining to staff members when their foods coming out. We almost got our foods sooner but several women's when off on the staff for waiting x amount of hours and still didn't get the orders yet. We ended up having to wait until 10:33pm to get all our orders. We requested to get french fries first which was around 10:13pm since we're hungry. But mind you we been here waiting since 8:04pm for the whole order. We finally took our first chili cheeseburgers bite at 10:38pm. We left the restaurant by 10:59pm/11pm. The fries we requested at around 10:13pm was hot and fresh. By the time our whole order was ready to be called for us to pick up at the front counter. The batch of fries inside the box was already cold & old which tasted soggy and nasty. I don't understand how it wasn't even fresh at all since we were like the last few 10 customers left out of a few hundred after the 5pm - 7pm rush hour slot was over. We landed in the 8pm slot with only about 10 customers left or so. The customers was greedy as well who ordered multiple foods on different receipts. There was some who had stacks of receipts just for the chili cheeseburgers alone. We came here for the chili cheeseburgers(8), fries(4), Large drinks(2), and an ice cream cone but they only had cups(1). Most people only came here for the chili cheeseburgers only. The cash register lady told us we can purchase a multiple of 10 burgers per receipts. We only got 8 chili cheeseburgers since everyone was hypeing how great it was. It was just a big fat disappointment. You can literally get it elsewhere with better service and fresher taste. The chili cheeseburgers alone had so little bits of ground meat in it. I literally thought it would be on the chunky side but nope. The beef patty was small like the size of a hamburger patty at McDonald's. The buns is the only thing that was big which made the burgers looked big. They only put so little chili on each burgers as well. So the ingredients to me personally seems a bit on the cheaper side not worth the time and effort. I really don't understand how people hype how good their burgers are. The burgers and fries did not taste as fresh as I thought it would be. Everyone who's exaggerated about the chili cheeseburgers need to rethink it again. There are better burgers that taste more delicious and a bigger portion. My overall experience was definitely not that wonderful. I personally would not recommend this restaurant in general. The staff wasn't all that nice and friendly. I really don't understand the disorganized staff members and the food order arrangement was not coming out in an orderly manner. There was no intercom to call out your number. Everyone waited too long for their orders. They should have capped the multiple transactions for each customer to only one per visit. Then again everyone was so greedy. I just wondered if they were all going to eat it in one sitting. We couldn't even finish all our foods which we took the rest home for later in the week. I know we were greedy too but at least we did not have multiple receipts. The food was not completely fresh eventhough we waited for hours for the completed food order. You literally thought since they were busy shouldn't the foods be hot and fresh too. I personally think they gave us other people leftovers who ordered something differently and requested a redo for their burgers. I'm 100% sure they repackaged it with a new wrapper and gave it to us so we can consume it. I hope it's not true. I see it all the time when it usually happens behind the seen because the workers too lazy to cook more. I actually got one chili cheeseburgers with missing half a patty. I really don't know what happened to it but it was missing. So I'm assuming it probably dropped or so and they were too lazy to make more. After we got back home I had a tummy ache. I ended up having a massive diarrhea. It's a good thing I made it home before it ended up on myself. I'm thinking the chili kicked in. I will not come back here again at all. But you never know I might change my mind in the future. You can give them a try. Be your own judge. Eat at your own RISK. As of now it's a no go for me!!

I have nothing against a chili burger, but even in my tipsy state, I couldn't eat this burger. The texture of the chili is like mild-flavored beef paste - and they put a lot on the burger. The bun is pretty standard fast food burger bun. The tomato slice and pickle were in good shape. The fries were fine. Only Pepsi products. 1/4 pound Tommy Burger (beef patty with the "chili" paste spread on top, American cheese, diced onions, mustard, tomato and pickle) was $6.75, regular fries $4.85, Med Pepsi $3.75. Service was nice at the drive-through window. Didn't go inside. This location's drive through was right next to another fast food drive through and it's easy to get in wrong lane. It's solid road trip fuel that's a cut above fried and fatty fast food, which is always a plus. I love sandwiches of all kinds, and Jersey Mike's never seems to disappoint. This location is not quite as good as some of the others though. On my last few visits I've had a few disappointments, which ranged from the bread tasting a little stale to noticeably smaller portions (as well as one time getting a ridiciulously massive portion), to my order being slightly wrong (they forgot to leave off the mayonnaise or gave me white bread instead of wheat). This location is definitely inconsistent. Several times this location has been out of ice and the soda fountain hasn't been working, or they haven't had any diet soda options available. We've been given refunds on the sodas we ordered a couple of different times because of this. I like to order ahead through the app to save time, which is so valuable on the exhausting drive from Nevada to California. I order about 15 minutes before arrival, and my food has almost always been waiting for me. The dining room is small and has seen better days, but I've never felt unsafe eating in there. Barstow is kinda sketchy especially at night, but it's well lit and isn't filled with unsavory characters like some of the other quick service restaurants in the area always seem to be. My go-tos here are the chicken cheesesteak when I want a hot sub to the veggie or turkey and cheese when I'm craving a cold sandwich. Depending on who makes your order, you'll either get an overstuffed sub that's loaded with meat and veggies or you'll get a sandwich that leaves you hungry. There is no in-between. I do think this location skimps on the veggies and toppings, which is a letdown. I love lots of lettuce, tomatoes, and especially the sweet peppers on the chicken cheesesteak. I call Jersey Mike's my stop for elevated road trip food. It's not gourmet, but it certainly is reliable, hearty, and convenient for fueling up. While it's messy to eat in the car, it's a good spot to take a break before hitting the really crazy traffic going into Los Angeles.
