We kinda drove out of our way to come here upon the high recommendation of a close family friend bc this place has a variety of Taiwanese street food. Much of the menu my mom used to make so there was the high nostalgia factor. Their prices are really good and food was decent. There's a take out area on one side of the restaurant complete with a large fridge with a huge variety of frozen items you can take home and heat up or cook - this includes soups , stews , dumplings etc. They also have some Taiwanese desserts - their shaved ice was massive though they kinda skimp on the amount of toppings you get. We ordered a variety of dishes - their star does seem to be their combo plates which came with hearty portion of your chosen item, homemade sides and a drink choice (includes milk tea, cold teas, sodas) . My only gripe was the older lady who works there (maybe she's the owner?) - she was a bit rude. We had a little bit of a wait so we were in the take out area and perusing the frozen items and she told us we had to wait outside. Bruh? There's no one in this area. We thought we were the only ones being shoo'd out but later saw her trying to shoo out a bunch of people waiting for their online orders, saying in mandarin that too many people inside is bad for air quality. LOL Then when we finally got seated she told us that it would take 40 minutes for us to get our food. And she rushed my daughter to order saying she has to leave and will have to come back if she doesn't order right then. Over the years, the store has expanded, and while prices have gone up a bit compared to before, the food is still very good and worth trying. I do live farther away now, so I don't visit as often, but whenever I do, it still feels familiar. What I really appreciate is that they carry many Taiwanese snacks and foods that are not easy to find elsewhere around here. You can also tell they put a lot of effort into their food preparation--they carefully cook items, seal them properly in bags, and prepare everything with attention and care. This place is so bomb! They have the best Taiwanese food for miles! We have pretty much ordered from here at least once a week or so for years and we still enjoy every order. Their bento combination plates are our go to - great value as it comes with an entree, sides, and a drink. You pick your entree and they fill the bento with a variety of sides (different each time). All the sides are delicious. Our go-to order is the Fried Chicken Steak with Chili Sauce Combo 椒麻雞排便當 and the Fried Fish Filet with Spicy Salt Combo 椒鹽魚片便當. Been visiting Taiwan's No. 1 for a year now, and it just gets better every time! Their stewed pork chop and popcorn chicken are my absolute favorite, and I highly recommend the fried guabao. It melts in your mouth, and it's just a fun and delicious play on the traditional guabao. Dumplings, wontons, sausage mask are also good. Teas are the perfect balance of sweetness ("not too sweet" aka the Asian way). You also can't beat their combo plate prices especially since you get a drink with it too. I used to look forward on coming to Taiwan No 1 Cuisine because the food taste great and owner was really nice., However, things have changed since they hired some new server. I don't know why the server was really mean. We have been waiting over 20 minutes and still have not received our water. No one seems to care since we just don't exist. I have ringed the bell twice and her coworker asked her to help us with water where we just did not get helped at all. I didn't drive all the way here to left me hanging. It's a really small shop with only a few tables inside, but I think they have a little bit of outdoor seatings and their main specialty is takeout bentos. They have a large variety of classic taiwanese comfort food and street food, all made well and are high quality. I ordered the popcorn chicken rice and it was hearty and tasty. The portion size was also pretty good. I also got the gua bao, one of my favorite dishes and it was extremely satisfying. My table ordered the big sausage wrapped in little sausage to share and it was very flavorful and filling. The workers were very nice and friendly. First time here and it hit the spot! I ordered 4 things but forgot to take a pic of the iced green tea: 1. Wontons topped with chili over steamed bokchoy (I think... might be some other steamed greens). I thought it might be like wontons in spicy sauce from Din Tai Fung but it wasn't. Somewhat similar flavor profile, not sweet at all, and super spicy but also very flavorful! I made sure to eat this first so I could cool off my tongue with the other 2. 2. Fried gua bao... so good! Perfectly soft bun pressed with crunchies, a sweet sauce (hoisin?), and pickled vegetables with tender, fatty pork belly. 3. Vietnamese sausage with sticky rice. It also had a sweet sauce and pickled veggies, probably the same ones, but it was still very good. I'm American (European blood) but love Taiwanese food so this was such a treat. I have had some version of all of the above in various places but not like this and never for such a good price! They have a lot of options (double-sided menu with small writing) and many more things for me to try. This place is very small but since the owner's brother owns the frozen yogurt place next door and it's slow during the winter, they use the seating. If you're coming here, you should come for the gua bao and the stinky tofu (if thats your jam). We ordered a bunch of stuff - the pork chop rice, the soup noodles, and lemon tea. Everything was good, but the gua bao and the stinky tofu were truly notable and my favorites of the entire order. The sitting here is limited so coming with a big group might be a bit difficult unless you come at an off hour. Small 1-2 people groups should be somewhat easy to grab and go.
