Surprising is the use of actual coffee & tea cups instead of everything being cardboard. Real Baked Goods served fresh every day. Teas I have never heard of, abound with exotic choices, such as Black Lavender. It has a choice of Sandwiches on Bagels. I usually stop by the Upper East Side location for brunch on my way to school. I love getting freshly prepared chia cups made with oat milk and packed with fruit. Today I went to the Kew Gardens location for some dessert. I ordered a chocolate fudge cake. The staff was very friendly and brought me a few different options of tea to go with my cake to help me decide. I decided on an earl grey tea latte with coconut milk. The atmosphere was cozy and perfect for reading a book. The cake was so delicious and fresh. I also got a chamomile tea on my way out to keep me warm in the cold. I will definitely be going back!!! read more

Ateaz is literally the worst self own business I've ever been to. The new renovations does not fix all the real issues they have. They are always under staffed and one girl that always wears a hat and has tattoos has the worst attitude. I ordered an egg and cheese and she just pushed the box at me and just stood there and stared at me. I have also seen her harassing the other employees as I've sat to work there while she controls the horrible music that they play. The new older looking manager brings in huge boxes and these poor young girls have to pick them up in which he is very rude as well and looks to much at the way younger girls seems like a pervert to me. This is not how a Business should be ran it's disgusting do not waste your money on this place. Roast and co is a close coffee shop that has better customer service and a positive atmosphere than ateaz which I highly recommend. The business owner should take care of this before it goes out of business honestly so horrible. I rate this a negative 1! read more

This place has nerve to even call itself a coffee shop. Since I moved here two months ago I have been in numerous times and have, of late, monitored the stock. Today there are ZERO BAGS OF REGULAR COFFEE AVAILABLE TO BUY. THIS HAS BEEN THE STOCK LEVEL SINCE BEFORE CHRISTMAS (WHEN THEY ACTUALLY HAD 3 BAGS OF REGULAR ON THE SHELF). THE STOCK HAS NOT BEEN REPLENISHED FOR WEEKS NOW!!?? This place is a joke. The owner is never there and they always say "we will tell the Manager" when i complain about not having any coffee to buy. News flash: the Manager does not care, it is not his/her money!! The only reason this place gets one star is for the Martha's Country Bakery pastries that they sell. Cozy cafe with a huge array of teas! I wanted to try them all but I needed my morning coffee instead. Got a latte and it was delicious! There are plenty of seats and most people were working away on their laptops. Looks like a cute day date spot or a place to catch up with your girlfriends. I walked into this cute spot which had plenty of comfy looking seats that already had about 5 people in them at the early hour I came in. Adam was my server and he was friendly attentive and in the short time it took be to get my order I watched him get orders ready for the regulars before they even got to the counter. Great coffee. Good atmosphere. Tasty desserts. A fine selection of interesting teas. The staff is responsive and pleasant. I have never been disappointed. However, there is one particular customer that frequents this location often, appears to be mentally ill, and is very aggressive. Granted, denying this particular individual service is likely unlawful. On the other hand, I've never seen this "customer" purchase anything - he just seems to hang out in a perpetual state of apparent delirium, threatening everyone that comes in and out. So, everything is basically good, except for the crazy guy whose line of sight you are advised to avoid, if you can. I think he'll probably kill someone in the near future. Alas, that's the price of living in New York City. If you're not willing to be stabbed while getting your morning coffee, you're not a real New Yorker. read more

The Staff all seem very polite, friendly and knowledgeable and while I go more for coffee, I see their large Tea selection is a big hit. Also the food items they offer always seem fresh and are quite good. Hi.. I go very often there, but today I had a bad experience .. I forgot my wallet in bathroom and one of employee stole my money.. The manager opened the camera and he saw the employee that entered after me and another lady who brought the wallet to the waiter and he knows me .. The manager called cop but... nothing..we can't do anything.. "it's not normal to leave the wallet in bathroom"-said the police But.. IS IT NORMAL TO STEAL?? Very disappointed.. Ups.. I love the taste of their coffee. However it's inconsistent and some days it's horrible. I also hoped one day they would upgrade to better plastic cups, as the ones they currently have are so flimsy and get so messy. I wish they hard sturdier plastic cups. Also the ice they use is very thin and melt so fast and your drink doesnt stay cold for long. I wish they would improve on these factors. read more

Our neighborhood needed this great addition. They have a great selection of pastries, cookies and bagels. I am also glad they added an outdoor seating area to enjoy on nice days. Overall I am happy with the coffee at this place except they do have some inconsistencies with the brewed coffee. They brew dark and medium roast coffee however I would prefer the light roast. Depending on which barista is working the coffee can be bitter. I will still support this local coffee house but I hope they can add a light roast and make more consistent coffee. read more

As a cafe, this place draws the locals..but on repeat efforts they just don't have the coffee routine down pat... ordering a pour over coffee the lady prepared it quicker than a steeped tea, so it defeats the purpose of having really good roasted coffees in house.. Their cups and lids are horrible. I bought two large coffees yesterday morning - one cup leaked and the other cup had a loose fitting lid. When I told the cashier about the kid, she knew about the problem and just told me to pour it into a new cup for a better fit- so rather than providing better cups/lids they just keep the defective ones?! read more

Excellent overall. Best tea I have had - and they make it with care. Problem - there are so many - how do you know what to order? Great place to use their wifi. Food is OK - they need to have more choice they get it from some source - don't cook there (but heat it) - which is fine - better good stuff than bad stuff.) Suggestion - get a few of each - some things are always sold first. They are refrigerated - so you can hold them more than a day. Deserts - are from Martha's bakery. So they are good. But - as Joan Rivers said - you can apply directly to hips. Glad they are there. Are they related to the online tea company? It seems so. read more

I'm giving this 2 stars solely because a good coffee shop is so desperately needed in this 'hood, however, they need some (important) improvement. From the swarms of snooty, young staff not educated in what they are selling, staring on into empty space to the super steep (no pun intended) prices, you'd feel like you were lost somewhere in the middle of Manhattan. The staff needs some serious coaching in customer service and knowledge on coffee and brewed tea. The prices are not neighborhood friendly, it's more of a tourist-trap-priced place, but in the middle-of-nowhere-Kew-Gardens? Uhhh, No! The owners should consider lowering their prices just a bit and hiring people who actually pay attention to their jobs. I'd rather go to the lame old 'Bucks nearby, at least their baristas take pride in what they do. They aren't snooty or airheaded and actually deserve to have a tip cup by the register. So rooting for this place! But it's got "tea" in the name and the tea is not brewed properly, resulting in flavorless, hardly-steeped tea. I've gone twice and both times the tea was barely there in the water. I had it iced. They need to either not brew iced tea to order, or let people know iced tea has a longer wait (usually totally fine for people who like real iced tea). I really want to love this place. To the owner: please call your tea supplier and ask them to send a rep to do a staff training! The neighborhood wants you to succeed but the product has to be good (if not great!) read more

Wonderful cute small cafe. Very well kept with modern decor , smooth relaxing music playing in the background. They have a pretty extensive selection of teas, hence the name. They have a tea bar in the front where they let you smell the tea leaves before you order anything if you wanted. Being chinese , i expected the tea to be like teavana or Davids tea, or not be as strong as what I typically and am traditionally use to. But this tea (At least the tea i got, the jasmine mint green tea) surprised me; it was very stronger, stronger than even chinese tea, given the reaction my grandma gave me when i shared with her. They also have selection of packages sandwiches , and pastries. Get the baklava cheesecake and the fruit tart ! Will definitely be back to try other tea flavors. read more

I would just hope that they turn the AC off during the winter time. This place is like a freezer. No heat, people are sitting inside with scarfs and coats. Seating is too close, in the winter time, you could be sitting right in front of the door. Who wants to sit here in cold weather! I gave this 3 stars because its cold.
