We recently went dress shopping for my best friend. The process to make the reservation online was super simple, it shared the appointment slots that were available and we selected the times that worked best. Upon our arrival, we walked in and had no idea what to expect as we weren't really greeted by anyone, but there were tons and tons of dresses. A few moments later a lady came up to us and asked us the name on our appointment then proceeded to tell us that the middle racks were not reorderable and we're as is. While the dresses outside were okay to reorder. Carolina was our consultant this day and she was absolutely fantastic. She shared different things we can do and gave options to help make the decision process all the ease. However, towards the end of our appointment, it felt like if we weren't making a purchase we needed to leave. While the bride was still debating between two dresses. All in all, we had a decent experience. I think we felt uncomfortable towards the end because it felt as if we were pressured to make a decision, and or tip the ladies helping. I had an appointment scheduled for a Saturday at 4:30pm. I scheduled this over 2 weeks in advance. The evening before I get an email that the store will be closed early and my appointment will need to be rescheduled for 3pm Saturday or for another day. I call the store Saturday morning to see if I can come in Sunday so all my bridesmaids can come with me, they say no they will be closed. Okay that's fine. I tell them I can come in at 3pm today with just the one bridesmaid. They say great. Then they ask to confirm my details. I do. Then they tell me that my wedding date of 10/13/28 is far away and I have plenty of time, that I probably won't buy a dress today so they will cancel my appointment. They continue to tell me how weekends are for brides ready to buy a wedding dress. Monday through Friday are for brides that aren't ready to buy, I can make an appointment for one of those days. WOW! I get that I'm doing things early, but to assume that because I like to have things done earlier, that means I won't buy a dress is ridiculous. I scheduled an appointment at a different store for the same day, found my dream maggie sottero dress and bought it. I would not recommend going here unless you want your appointment moved/canceled last minute, and to have judgmental service baised on assumptions. What an incredible experience Maggie (owner) provided. My daughter found her dress at Volle's however the service was so poor we really didn't want to buy it from there but it truly was "the one", I was bound and determined to find this dress elsewhere for her. I started calling boutiques to see if they could help me, when I spoke to Maggie on the phone she was so helpful and did some research for me and she was able to help us. I had a really great experience here with my future mother in law and maid of honor despite ending up getting a dress at the first bridal salon I visited. The young woman that picked and helped me try on the dresses was very helpful. I told her what I was looking to pay and she was able to show me a variety of beautiful dresses within well within my budget. It was a difficult decision to make. She also gave me tickets to a trade show that Atelier Igar Bridal was participating in. It ended up being an incredible resource as I found some great vendors and helped me find an awesome wedding coordinator. A good friend of mine had gone here for her wedding dress a few years ago and had great things to say, and I had been with her for a fitting and decided to come back myself when it was my turn. I had my first bridal appt here yesterday and did not expect to find my dress, but I did and I'm thrilled about it! The stylist helping me was Cornelia (I hope I spelled that right!) and Maggie also helped with showing customization options, explaining certain things, and clipping the dresses when necessary. My mom and I both agreed that the two of them were super pleasant to work with. They both made conversation and made me feel really comfortable in a setting that can definitely make a bride nervous/self conscious/unsure etc. If I said I didn't like a dress, it was game over for that dress - no pushing or questions asked, let's try on the next one - which I know isn't always the case at stores like this! Overall I had a great experience yesterday and can't wait to come pick my dress up next year! :o) read more

Disclaimer: I am not a bride, but I was with my best friend (who is a bride) when she came here. The experience was really very 'meh.' It's a small(er) shop, and while it looked like they had multiple changing rooms/stalls, there was just one stage area to 'show off' when trying on dresses. Not necessarily a negative, just beware. I think they're appointment only so as long as they don't double-book it should be fine (although we did feel a little rushed to leave, since the next appointment was sort of hovering as we were getting our coats to leave). Not a big deal though, just sort of another thing in the experience. They have beautiful dresses. My friend came in with a pretty decent idea of what she wanted, and made that clear early on. The stylist brought some dresses that fit that description, and some that weren't even close. After my friend reiterated her preferences, the stylist brought her more dresses that didn't fit. There were quite a few she didn't even try on/didn't even show us because they were off the mark. The stylist also didn't really do much to pin the dresses to get a good feel of how they would look on (they did it at other places, so I know how it should've looked). She would just sort of zip the dress as far as it would go and leave it at that. When my friend asked about it the stylist told her to leave her bra on so she could pin to that (even though she wouldn't be wearing a bra with the actual dress, so it made for some weird fitting). The stylist also had a cold, and while I feel bad for her, she was hiccuping (not that that can be helped, but the other stylist could've taken over and given her a break), and sneezing all over my friend. When my friend had questions about fit/style/accessories/etc., she always got sort of a 'half-answer' to her question (like people were only half listening to her question). My friend did find a dress she liked (not loved, but liked a lot), and this is where it got really disappointing. There was an 10% up-charge because of the size of the dress (maybe this is due to the designer, but still, a bummer), and then in order to get it in ivory instead of blush it would be an up-charge for the right lace and lining, etc. We just started feeling a little nickel-and-dimed, especially the way it was presented. As other have noted, you can't take pictures in here. I guess I can kind of maybe understand it, but also, when you're trying on multiple dresses it would be nice to have pictures to remember one from the next (or you know, to show someone who wasn't able to make it to the session). When my friend asked for the dress information and the breakdown of pricing we had been given, she was told "it's in her account." When she asked for just the price in writing it was reiterated that it's in her account, and that if she decided to buy the dress she could come back and all the information would be there for her. Now, I could maybe see not giving out the dress information (so that someone can't go elsewhere to get the same dress). I find that shady, because well if your prices are higher than someone else then why shouldn't someone pay the lower price. But I can't understand not at least giving the quote/price breakdown in writing. Again, when going to different stores and trying to keep track of so many dresses, having something in writing to refer to would be really nice (considering we got no pictures and nothing in writing, there's nothing to refer back to from this store). I'm sure they have good reasons for their business practices, and it seems like some people have great experiences, but for us it just really was a not great experience. read more

The first time I came to the shop, I didn't have an appointment and didn't expect to be helped, but she did and was the most accommodating. This place is a gem located in Arlington Heights. *BRIDE BEWARE* (PART 1) This is my review of my deeply disappointing experience at this bridal shop and encounter with Maggie the owner. To summarize if you are a bride looking to buy a dress at this bridal shop look for another bridal shop. Honestly, if I could leave NO STARS I would, unfortunately that is not an option. *My review is too lengthy for one posting so my post are two parts. PART 1: WEDDING DRESS APPOINTMENT To begin with I will discuss my first encounter with this bridal shop. I found this bridal shop via the Maggie Sotero website. On their website it listed Atelier Igar Bridal ("Bridal Shop") as one of the bridal shops that carried the various Maggie Sotreo wedding dresses I wanted to try on. This Bridal Shop was the closest to me and so I scheduled an appointment. Maggie sent me a questionnaire regarding the type of dress I was looking for. I already knew the designer and name of the dresses I wanted to try on and so I listed those dresses in the questionnaire. I should have realized it was a red flag, because when I arrived at my appointment Maggie said she had not pulled any dresses for me because I had not listed any in my questionnaire. I advised her that I had filled out the questionnaire and listed the specific dresses I was looking for. She then pulled up my questionnaire and pulled my dresses accordingly. I ultimately found a dress that I loved, and I went ahead and purchased the dress. It was a beautiful moment I shared with my mom, sister, and family present via FaceTime. Second red flag, Maggie claimed that she "forgot" to place the champagne in her car and so she had no champagne for us to celebrate with. In reality, I do not think she believed I was going to purchase a dress. Regardless, I did not allow Maggie's lack of professionalism and lack of preparedness impede me from enjoying my magical moment. If I could give Maggie and team 10 stars I absolutely would!!!! Maggie and her team made the stress of finding THE dress next to non-existent. Although, I found what I thought to be my dream dress online I called Atelier to ensure they carried that exact dress I was looking for in store and while they didn't carry the exact dress I was hoping for, Maggie was quick to suggest a extremely similar dress by the same designer...reason being is because the dress I wanted can get wrinkled very easily and she "would never allow any of her brides to be in a wrinkly dress on their biggest day of their life." Of course, i didn't want to look like a wrinkled mess either. When I went into the shop for the first time I was greeted with a huge welcoming smile and hug..THE dress was already hanging in the dressing room but Maggie and team let me scope out all options before trying on. First dress, was THE dress...the one Maggie suggested on the phone. It was perfection in every way. After trying on a few more options I knew the first dress I had tried on was the one and at the time it fit almost perfectly. Maggie and team suggested to order that exact (sample) size so they could do minor alterations. What?! Have you ever heard a bridal shop suggest the same sample size for you to order so they didn't have to overhaul on alterations and charge an additional gob of $$?! I thought this was so genuine and felt that they truly had the best interest of the bride at heart vs. making money. Of course I lost some weight from the initial try on, but overall my alterations ending up being very minor...a few pinches on the sides and cups put in. Maggie carries beautiful dresses in her store but she is the diamond. She will not pressure you, she listens to you, she explains her choices, and overall is your cheerleader for this special moment in your life. There is no one better I could recommend to you (and I can be a bit of a picky person so my recommendation is a really good one). I cannot say enough good things about Maggie and her shop. I booked an appointment and reached out to Maggie to see if she had a few specific dresses from designers she carries and she quickly replied! As I kept looking, there was one she didn't have but I desperately wanted to try on. She was able to work wit the designer to send a loaner that arrived for my appointment (she actually had to go to FedEx and track it down because it kept getting marked as unable to deliver). When we arrived for the appointment, Maggie greeted us and took me around listening to what I was looking for and we picked a few dresses. To be honest, I had a lot of nerves and anxiety, which Maggie instantly picked up on and was so sweet and reassuring. With each dress I tried on, Maggie listened to what I liked, didn't like or wished it had (even in small comments to my group) and carefully picked more. She carefully honed in on two dresses that I adored but was unable to commit to. Maggie was so sweet and kind and told me "it might just not be the day for you or none of these may be there dress for you and that's ok. I am happy to help you again anytime". I left with my group having absolutely nothing but good things to say about Maggie - I adored her! Later that night at dinner, I was looking at pictures and I decided to see email Maggie and see if I could come back the next day. She quickly replied that she could see me in the morning. I went in feeling much less stressed and told Maggie my thoughts on each dress (and showed her something I liked from another spot). She quickly went and picked a dress. I put on this dress and it perfectly combined each detail I loved about everything. I am not sure why she didn't pick this dress the day before (well likely that I had some different thoughts today) but I am glad she didn't, my mind today so much clearer and I was ready to "Say Yes to the Dress". I didn't even want to retry on any of the others I had thought I was going to this morning. Maggie picked the perfect veil to compliment the dress and I said "Yes" to the dress. When I said "Yes" Maggie was so specific about the dress I ordered and made sure we got all the customizations and the size correct. Her level of detail was perfect and the whole time she was so warm, comforting and genuine. I really cannot say enough good things about this place! I loved how the appointments reserved the entire shop. I came in with my mom and the staff were so attentive and kind. They asked all the questions to best get to know me which ended up with us all feeling confident in our decisions. We started off with discussing the basics-- what the venue and date were, details about my fiancé, what kind of style Im looking for, etc. They pulled many dresses out and asked what I liked and didn't like about each dress. It felt like I was really being listened to because each dress got better and better! I got to look through the racks as well to see which ones were most similar to what I was looking for. Each one felt amazing to wear and were very clean! I liked how with each dress, they were quick to read my expressions and talked me through my thoughts to help me figure out what aspects worked and what didn't. They were also quick with a compliment which was nice, lol! I ended up falling in love with one and quickly purchased it! It felt like they were excited with me that I had found one. This review is long overdue as I got married almost a year ago. I came to Atelier sugar Bridal after my fruitless shopping experience at BHLDN and another local bridal shop. I came with the intention to buy a Pronovias dress but ended up buying Evelyn Bridal dress and a matching veil. I also got my dress altered there. Overall I was completely satisfied with the whole process, everyone was always on time, I never felt rushed, my appointments were never canceled. So I was shopping around for a bridal store that would do alterations on my Mother's wedding dress, which is the same dress I'm using for my wedding. I found this company through a bridal expo in April 2015, and they were very welcoming.....at first. I had a very specific situation, so I didn't schedule an appointment til mid July. The lady told me the estimated rates are $200-$300 for alterations. When I went in the store, it looked nice. I was the only customer there. I tried on my wedding dress, and the owner, Maggie, was pretty much making me feel horrible that I was using my mom's dress, and it just gave me a heartbreaking feeling. She kept saying the hem of the dress was too short, and it would look weird if i wore heels, or flats, even. I have ruffles at the top of my dress, and I asked her if she could remove them, and her alterations lady (who doesn't even speak english) said that it just would ruin the fabric on my dress. Basically, she said nothing was possible, and she wouldn't want to ruin the dress, and offered me to shop around in her store for another one. HOW UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! She pretty much gave her input on style, which I get, but she barely asked me for my opinion til the VERY end when she told me she couldn't do anything for me. After that, she brought me to look at some dresses with her, and she was showing me ones that were WAY over my budget. So I guess this whole time, she wasn't even going to alter the dress at all, and I wasted an hour of my life in this shop....thank goodness I left when I did. I'm sorry that my standards aren't up to your liking, but please everyone, spare yourself from going to this store AT ALL. Never in my life ever ever again. read more

Where do I begin? The customer service is THE best you will experience throughout your whole wedding. I wasn't sure the exact style I wanted for my dress and Atelier Igar made the choice so much easier. They found the perfect dress for my figure and in moments a stunning veil!! I went to a lot of other places looking for the perfect dress and what I found out is that places like David's bridal are a complete scam. Basically you get what you pay for. Don't waste your time, just got see Maggie - she's the sweetest person to deal with and will make sure everything is seen to end - she will recommend/arrange for someone to for your dress as well. I found my perfect dress there however there's an option to get any dress only sold online to the shop for you to try and it's very cheap. Don't let big places like David's to fool you - they only have 15 dresses in stock in real life and it's poor quality. Needed to repost the review b/c it would not allow me to have photos edited and the business owner has made threats to me over exposing her business practices. In short, DO NOT GO HERE- Maggie ruined the wedding dress experience and I wouldn't wish this experience for anyone during the wedding preparation process. Wedding planning can be stressful enough especially if you have a shorter engagement like I did. Feel free to message me for details, but in short, Maggie lied about the overall: *cost *timing *services she could provide. Several of the reviews below are from her husband or friends. 1. Maggie did not order my dress in time like she said she would. Maggie then tried spent the next 3 days saying she would have to do express shipping. The corporate office however said express was not an option when I called. Maggie said I wouldn't get my dress in time then, despite assuring me prior to signing the contract that I would. Can you imagine spending almost 3K only to spend the next few months thinking that you may need a back-up plan because you wouldn't have your wedding gown on your wedding day? SO STRESSFUL 2. Maggie said she had a seamstress that lived in the building and estimated that minor alterations would be $150-$200. Instead when my dress arrived, she up charged everything claiming she had to for rush (something she never disclosed in the beginning) asking almost $800 to bring her dress in and bustle. In fact, because she ordered the larger size and it had to be taken it, half or more of these could have been avoided. 3. Maggie was condescending and kept referring to my upper arm as "fat hands" during fittings and wanted to give me tips on eating less. How hurtful!! (BTW I'm a size 6-8 in traditional clothes). 4.Maggie sent me 21 text messages demanding FULL PAYMENT even though 2 payments had been made for the dress BEFORE the dress was READY. She also tried to charge more than what the Contract had stated payment was due within 30 days but she sent me multiple late night texts demanding payment early. 5.Maggie refused to give me the dress after payment and CALLED the COPS when I refused to sign her homemade "happy with your service" agreement. We tried to pay cash even and that wasn't enough. The zipper on my dress had been ruined by then and was tough to get up without the dress even being on so I think she knew that'd be an issue. This was the 3rd salon I had visited while searching for my bridal gown. Maggie was so helpful, honest, and flexible (hours) throughout the entire process of selecting my sottero and Midgley Tracey gown. I fell in love with the gown and never looked back. Mirka my seamstress was very patient, kind and also honest about how my dress was going to fit. This team of ladies had to deal with my difficult mother and she's even given them praise. I didn't end up getting my dress here, but I had a really positive experience and would recommend Atelier Igar Bridal to anyone - especially those looking for a beautiful Maggie Sottero or Sottero & Midgley dress. This was the very first place I went to to try on wedding dresses, and Maggie and her team were so patient with me. I had gone in with a few dresses in mind that I had emailed them about beforehand and they made sure was available when I went in. They let my mom and sister pick out dresses for me, too, and the stylist (I think her name was Jessica) really took the time to understand what I liked and didn't like, and encouraged me to try on some styles I was unsure about. Maggie knew I loved the Sottero designs and pulled out a brand new style for me to try on that was just gorgeous - the top was so beautifully made, but the bottom was a bit too ball gown/princessy for me, and I didn't feel like I'd be very comfortable moving around in it. The stylist I worked with (Jessica?) was so kind and not pushy at all. I felt really comfortable there. My ONLY complaint - and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 - is that they don't allow photos there. When you're trying on 5-10 dresses at a time, it can be really difficult to remember exactly what each of the dresses you tried on looked like on you, and especially when you're dress shopping for an entire day at multiple stores, it can be even more difficult to remember every single dress you tried on. I know I loved some of the dresses I tried on here, but by the time I got to my final dress shop, I honestly couldn't remember that clearly what the dresses I tried on at my first stop looked like. Had I had photos to reference back to, I MAY have gone back to at least re-try on some of the dresses to be sure, but since I didn't have them, I just went with the dress I really liked at the last spot. I don't quite understand their reason for not allowing photos inside to be honest (you can find photos of all the dresses online and on social media anyway), and I think they're just harming their sales by enforcing this policy. I said YES to the dress!!! Came here and it was my second store to visit and immediately there were plenty of gorgeous dresses to look from. Right when I came in I was treated with a smile and was called by my name as if the owner Maggie already knew who I was. I was given a card to fill out with my name and they asked me what my budget was so they wouldn't pull any dresses not in my price range. The owner let me look around and had me also choose what I wanted but based of the form I filled out online she had already put some aside for me! I tried on 10 different dresses and narrowed it down to three. I was on a tight budget and the owner not once did not force me to buy anything. Maggie gave me all the time to think about the dresses I tried on. Although my time was up, I asked if I could try on one of the dresses again and without hesitation she let me try it on. I was with my bridesmaid and she gave us all the time in the room to take pictures and ponder about the two different styles I like. Finally 3 hours later..... I made my decision and said yes to the dress!!! The dress I choose was beautiful and was within my price range even after taxes. After purchasing the dress, I was given a sign to hold that said "I said yes to the dress" and was given a bottle of champagne to celebrate with!!! Such a kind gesture and a wonderful experience. Not once did I feel rush when looking for the right one on my big day. The owner really helped with her opinion but at the end of the day she told me, it was my decision. My advice for all new brides is to really come with 1-2 people to find your dress.
