I've been coming to Ani since 2010.She is my main hairstylist. I never had a chance to write a review .I just want to say that this is the best salon in Glendale so far ! I tried few other make up artists and other hairstylists for my special events ,they are all professional and perfect .Overall the location ,design ,cleanliness is perfect .Customer service is number one in this Salon .The best thing about this salon is that they are using quality products and the hairstylists ,make up artists are well experienced and specialized in their job !!! I went here to get my hair done for my friend's wedding. Parking is easy and right out front but you have to pay the meter. The salon decor was very pretty and the bathroom's clean--always a plus. I brought in a picture of an updo I wanted and was excited to see how it would come out. Two girls worked on my hair and they were great, one created the base at the back of my head and the other girl finished. My only complaint was that after one of the stylists completed the first part of the updo--curling my hair etc...it took 40 minutes + for someone else to finish it. That was very unfortunate because I was sitting there of boredom and had to go and keep putting change in the meter. They moved onto others (as it was a busy morning) but still. When they finally finished my hair, I was very happy. It was very close to the picture I had brought in. My updo lasted through the night, I had a few pieces come down but my friend was able to help me pin them back in. Oh yeah, and if you go here, be prepared to shell out the $. It was $85. Pricey but I don't get my hair done often so I have no idea what's normal. I would probably consider them again if I need to get my hair done. read more

I don't even know where to begin bcuz waiting for my 'turn' even after making an appointment was the biggest mistake! This review is for Nune, who's very obsessed with her own work. I made a consultation appointment with her and showed up, after waiting for 30 mins and asking how long I have to wait, she didn't even remember that she'd made an appointment with me and ended up consulting me while working on someone else. The people at the front table are very ignorant even when you approach to ask a question. I ignored the red flags and made an actual appointment for my hair with her, got there again and she's forgotten me again. She made me wait more than an hour, even though I was there on time. I understand that sometimes you have to wait at salons but for an hour and 20 mins?? After I complained that I've had an appointment and she could've let me know that she'll be running late, then she told me it is what it is and nobody does that! Seriously? Have you ever made an appointment anywhere? I pulled her a said and talked to her in a very polite manner and she started telling everyone that I'm complaining with a loud voice in the entire salon, customer service!! She was even trying to charge me ($40) over the price she'd told me just because she put a bit of an olaplaex on my hair while washing! Overall , not recommend, overpriced, very rude, zero customer service, the result had nothing to do with the goal picture she'd confirmed she can do. She does whatever she wants. She is professional, caring and understands your concerns. So I called in made a consultation appointment with Iness. So I go in I show her what I like ask if she can do it and if so how much. She tells me she can do it and the price, so I made an appointment. I asked her twice if she can make my hair like what I showed her, not exactly but similar because I have a event the next day and she said yes very confidently So I go in a week later for my appointment I wait like 20 minutes till iness comes. Meanwhile her assist asks to see what I want I show her and she says that's impossible but wait till iness comes and she'll talk to you. So she comes and talks to me asks to see the picture again, says she has to touch up my roots and it won't be exactly like that. So I just sit there say ok she starts talking to her assistant on what to do. And then starts talking smack in Armenian little does she know I'm Armenian. Whatever she starts on my hair shows the assistant what to do and literally leaves and doesn't come back. Like really I'm paying YOU to do my hair not your assistant. So the assistant gets ready to dye my hair, keep in mind my roots don't even look dyed a slight bit. So the assistant is drying my hair and I can tell she does not know how because she keeps going over it a thousand times and then says wow you have so much hair why are you even drying your hair if you have to go get ur hair done tomorrow as well you're just damaging it. Lol I'm clearly paying for a blow dry why does it concern you. She didn't even finish doing my hair it was puffy as hell and still wet and she says okay done let me go talk to iness about how much it is. Even though I already knew the price since I got a consultation. So she comes and goes its 280$ but iness is giving you a discount. We'll even if she wasn't I'm still not paying more because that's what she said when I came in for a consultation. I don't mind paying that much if my hair came out decent but literally my roots were the same and my hair was just a bit different. Literally had to tie my hair in a bun right when I got out because it looked like I just got out of a sauna with my hair so puffy and because of how hideous the blowout was and the color. This review is specifically for Andy, who is my only hair stylist! We met outside the salon after he moved there from another salon and I had recently experienced an awful haircut that destroyed my hair (or so I thought) and he sweetly handed me a flier, offering me a deal if I came in within a certain amount of days. I called or texted him soon after and I appreciated that he was very fast to respond. (He has continued this since.) I went in for my first cut and was SO happy with the results. He cleaned me up completely and made my hair look so great - as if the horrible haircut never happened. Ever since, he has continued with amazing service and given me great hair cuts. He's always recommending cute things to do with my hair, but Andy is NOT the pushy type or the type to take control and do whatever he wants. He's very attentive to my face shape and what would look good, as well as I what I want to do. He also is very good at cleaning up split ends (I'm prone to them) and never razors my hair. He's a total sweetheart and I always enjoy seeing him! He also does toners, which is a very nice way to color your hair without dying it in the way that your roots will show through. (I don't know a lot about the technical parts of haircare, but I do know it looks great and feels healthy!) He will suggest products for you to buy depending on your hair type, as well as ways to style your hair at home. Favorite stylist to date! :) read more

I am a HUGE ANDY fan! He does great color, highlights and cut! Andy is very talented, professional and such a SWEETHEART not to mention a latino hottie! :) I always look forward to my hair appointments with him. He always makes me feel taken care of. He also cuts my boys and he always gets it right on. This place is okay inside, maybe I would be a little more impressed if their staff was a bit friendlier and smiled more. Virginia has been my hair stylist for over 10 years. She always gives me the most amazing haircuts. Over the years, I've had so many different haircuts and different colors. She has been able to give me different looks- from red head, to brunette, to black hair and even blonde without any damage. She uses amazing hair products and I almost always buy their hair products after each visit especially love the shampoo and conditioner. My hair always feels so silky and smooth after using their products. The entire staff at the salon is friendly and welcoming. I can honestly say that Virginia is one of the most skilled hair stylist that I have ever encountered. Furthermore, she has an innate aesthetic sensibility that enabled her to create styles which always looks great on me. She is truly a gifted artist! As a bonus, she also has a bright personality. I came here a few months ago and put off leaving a review but I decided to share my experience. After having a mishap hair dye at home I immediately looked to yelp to help me find a great salon. My cousin had told me about this place and after reading all the great reviews I was sold on coming here. I called to make an appt and was told that Virginia would be doing my hair. Finally the day to get my hair done was here and I was so excited to have a great experience. I went 20 mins early so as not to be late because finding parking can be a bit difficult. The inside is very nice and clean. The girl at the front desk was very nice, since I went a bit early she walked me to the back waiting area and was told that Virginia would be with me soon. I saw hairstylist after hairstylist walk back and forth greeting customers and being polite but never once did any of them look my way. I sat there feeling uncomfortable and unwanted as a customer. I waited and waited and waited some more, I was constantly checking my phone to see the time. 15 mins went by, then 30, and then yes an hour and a half went by and yet no Virginia. I couldn't believe that a professional stylist and co-owner of the salon was an hour and a half late. Finally the receptionist walked back and noticed that I was still sitting there, after 2 hrs and a half. She immediately went to what I only assumed was another stylist to talk about the fact that I have been sitting there for so long. Low and behold it was Virginia with whom she was talking to, yes the same Virginia who was suppose to have helped me out 2 hrs ago. One of the worse parts was that I had seen her walk back and forth this whole time greeting and talking to the other girls and never once looked my way. I was so upset and wanted to walk out. She finally came to me and apologized for the confusion. I wanted to storm out of there but I was in desperate need to get my hair fixed. I was willing to pay how ever much it would cost to fix my hair by Virginia but she hardly did any of the work. Her assistant did most of the dye process and blow dry. In the end my hair came out ok. I was very disappointed by this place and by the tremendous lack of customer service. I have to agree with another comment I saw here about having to be Armenian in order for people to give you the royal treatment. I will NEVER come back to this establishment AGAIN!!!! If yelp gave the option of giving awful places like this zero stars then that's what this place would be getting. One star is pushing it! read more

(Still under "K.S.") I went in for a color correction 2 months ago and waited to review until I could cool off. 2 months later, I am just as upset and appalled by the results and overall service. I came in, because I wanted "honey brown" color (my hair is naturally super dark brown, and a recent home color made it a bronzy brown). The stylist was Virginia (part owner). SHORT STORY My scalp was raw with blood and yellowish translucent puss following the color correction. In addition, the color was orange, and when I complained about my scalp and hair color, I was bullied by Virginia. She refused to admit anything was wrong with my scalp or hair, called me "ungrateful", and refused a refund. The reason their reviews are so high is from makeup application (and maybe some of the other stylists). LONG STORY I came in on a Friday afternoon and met Virginia for a color correction consultation. She seemed nice and asked some good questions. I told her I want honey brown hair. I tried to color my hair myself, but it turned out an orange hue. The process would include bleaching to strip out color, so the color would be pure. She said this is her expertise, and it would take about 4 hours. I was desperate to have it fixed fast, so she squeezed me in the next morning (extra early). I was really impressed that she would come in an hour before opening to fit me in. The next morning, I arrived on time, and Virginia wasn't there. I met her assistant who offered me a drink and said Virginia would show up soon. Virginia showed up about 20 minutes late. She apologized, and I figured it was OK, since she still came in earlier than usual just for me. They each took a side and started bleaching my hair (all except my roots). Once the bleach was applied, the assistant stayed with me and ran her fingers through sections of my hair, kind of pulling the bleach from the roots to the tips. She said this would make sure the bleach didn't dry out, and the bleaching would be more even. After 30-40 minutes, the assistant washed the bleach out and blow dried my hair. Then they both and started on my roots with a lower volume of bleach. The brushed the bleach on with the tip of the brush directly onto my scalp then blended it to the rest of the unbleached hair. The brush tip was a bit harsh, but I didn't say anything. After about 20-30 minutes, the assistant washed my hair and blow dried it. During the blow dry, I kept flinching, because it felt like my scalp was burning. The assistant and Virginia just said I must have a sensitive scalp and kept blow drying my hair on the same temperature. Next, the assistant applied the color, and I immediately felt a strong burning sensation and communicated this to her. She called Virginia over, and Virginia said that it will go away in 5 minutes, and I should just be patient. After 5 minutes, the burning sensation was stronger, and it felt like my entire body was trembling in the pain. I've only felt this level of pain once- when I got a 5 inch tattoo on my back. Even then, it only felt this way the last 10 minutes of my 2 hour session. I explained this to the assistant, and I was crying at this point. The assistant brought Virginia over, and she asked me what they could do (with an annoyed expression). I had no idea what they could do; I don't know anything about color processing. So, they gave me a cup of cold water and I sat through it: crying for another 10 minutes. After about 15 minutes, I felt the burning sensation slightly easing (probably cuz my nerve endings were burned out). When about 20-30 minutes total passed, they washed my hair, put in a conditioning treatment, and added some toner. The assistant then got the blow drier out, and I asked her to use the diffuser attachment instead of the direct heat, because my scalp was feeling really sensitive. She diffused my hair, but it still burned in a few spots. Once she was done, I felt relieved. I wasn't sure how I felt about my hair, but the assistant and Virginia seemed to really like it, so I felt like I should be happy. I paid the whopping $200 + a $40 tip. I also bought the recommended shampoo and hair mask. Once outside, I took pictures of my hair in different lighting. Sometimes it looked like a grey/green tone, and sometimes it looked kind of orange. I figured it was because the color was too fresh and I had styling product in my hair. I can't say much about the salon but some of the staff members are pretty rude. I made an appointment with Vanity makeup Ani to get my makeup done. First I want to say she has no customer service she did not ask me what I like or don't like..... No questions asked she just started doing my makeup. She made me feel so uncomfortable. Throughout the whole time she spoke different language front of me with her assistant. She did a horrible job and the whole process took her less then 20 minutes. And she complained that my skin color doesn't match with any of her foundation... Really and you consider yourself a makeup artist!!! Not worth for the money read more

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience other's have seemed to. I went in for a cut and color. The color process completely burned my scalp and ears. Two weeks later, the burning and itching have finally abated but my ears are still peeling. And I ended up having to go to another salon to get my hair re-cut 3 days after my visit to Atelier. The cut was horrible, my hair dry and frizzy from the treatment - it had to be cut and shaped up. When I contacted the stylist and asked that my money be refunded for the color (I realize that cuts are subjective), she actually blamed me for the the problem. I certainly wasn't aware there was any problem at the time. I trusted her to be a professional and know how long a treatment should be left on. Only putting a star because I have to. Got my hair done this morning by lala. Right away she had an attitude because I came with my extensions wet. She scolded me and told me she told me to come with dry hair. (Never happened) she didn't wash my hair. She started curling my hair and said she would just use dry shampoo. She curled my hair pinned it up and left me to do someone's color. Came back. Took the pins out sprayed me and I left. My hair fell on my way home! I have a wedding tonight and my hair is in a ponytail right now. It looked terrible! Anyway, I won't be going back to this place. If you're not a regular here then. Also, Lala was rude as eff!!! P.s. I went in the salon with full thick long brown hair and 8 hours later walked out the salon with thin bob cut blond hair. She charged me $500 for a change of color that took her 8 hours to do and she didn't even do it herself her assistants did my hair! I will NEVER recommend this salon to anyone else! read more
