The food is fresh and tasty and they never forget a thing in our take=out bag. I had just done some business with a fellow who owns a Greek shop in Cold Spring and asked him where he ate. He sent me here and it is really great. Food is delicious, comes out fast and the portions are large. House salad was huge and grape leaves were plentiful. I had a shank with Orizo and a lite tomato and vegitable sauce. Came here with my boyfriend for date night and we were blown away by the menu. While they had the traditional street food favorites, they also had excellent Mediterranean style options (grilled octopus for example). Their portions were generous and the prices are more than fair. We were seated outside and there was a good amount of people enjoying the food as well but the wait staff were very busy. I never mind a little wait especially considering how covid has flipped everything upside down. Athena's did an excellent job making in an incredible experience. I have been eating Greek food all over NYC since 1976. I would say this restaurant has some of the best Greek Food in the area. Hummus was excellent Greek Salad So fresh and full of flavor. What a gem. My husband & I were meeting family for lunch.We suggested Greek if there were any in the,area & they suggested Athenas. The fried zucchini and fried eggplant were fabulous. Definitely the best gyros in the area. Always great service and the owners are super nice as well. Amazing! My husband and I went for a quick dinner. He ordered a gyro with onion rings and I ordered a large Greek salad with gyro meat. Phenomenal! My salad was huge and a small would have sufficed for sure. The meat was plenty, the stuffed grape leafs were delicious. Loaded with feta and dressing on the side you can't go wrong. My husbands gyro was huge and he couldn't finish it all. We did start with an app of some sort of fried cheese flambéed with brandy and a squeeze of lemon. It was good! What a nice addition to the area! We arrived early, and it was fairly quiet, but it quickly filled up. It's wonderful, family style Greek food. The staff are kind and courteous, and the owner, George, always greets every table and can even be seen clearing items from tables, which to me is the sign of a great boss, leading by example. The salad is my favorite, the dressing, divine, and helpings, almost too large! There's something for everyone here, and go early, because it really does fill up quickly, even during a snow storm! read more

We were unimpressed. Service was weird--our French fries arrived almost immediately after ordering and our Greek sausage came a few minutes later. Then we waited almost half an hour for our two gyros, which were mostly lettuce and very little meat. If I wanted that much lettuce, I would have ordered a salad. The pita was also soggy and the tzatziki was tasteless. An overall weak gyro. A good one is getting harder and harder to find. read more

Recently moved to area from NYC, was really looking forward to some Greek food. I ordered the gyro platter. It was absolutely terrible, this place should be ashamed to have gyro in their name. The meat was cut too thick and was rubbery. Maybe the worse gyro I have ever had, went home that night with a stomach ache. On a good note I thought their Greek salad and dressing was very good. Overall not a very good Greek restaurant, also needs a complete renovation because the decor is very outdated and dirty looking. I hope they renovate and go somewhere to learn how to make gyro properly. read more

Born and raised Greek, I didn't have the highest expectation however I was pleasantly surprised to see a busy restaurant Saturday night. The appetizers were all delicious: Dandelion greens, octopus, calamari, fried zucchini, complimentary Tzatziki...but the service was so poor we waited an hour and 15 minutes for 4 gyros which arrived wrong. The waitress was clearly new and frazzled and the kitchen was severely behind. A few more cooks or kitchen manager and some quality trained servers and this place will be a hit!! Delicious and fresh food. I usually get the Greek salad with falafel. Their falafels are huge! Their salad dressing is also one of the best I've had. Got the falafel in a pita several times and you seriously have to eat it with a knife and fork because it's got massive falafels in it!
