Almost made a 4 star, but there are key missing ingredients. First, it was clean and felt safe, and the beds, although odd, were comfy. The bathroom plumbing was over-the-top in multi-head shower, and advanced plumbing fixtures, although some weren't secured very well. The downsides? No art on the walls, at all. Dresser is missing, replaced by a rack which might be better for people with disabilities. Odd. Have never seen a wall-mounted eight-foot rack like that. The breakfast has no protein, so if you like carby cereals and "breakfast cookies" you might be OK, but not very nutritional. The rear of the hotel had debris, perhaps construction debris. But we booked it through hotels.com, and it was chosen for value. It is indeed inexpensive, clean, quiet, and easy-in/out. We would go back again if only for the value, quiet, and ease of access off I-75. YMMV. read more

The Athena Inn is a great place to stay at. Customer service was exceptional . My husband Keith and I went there on 2/20/2023. We were greeted politely by Chintan Patel,Dainik Patel at the front desk. I unfortunately booked my reservation for March 21st by accident . They still didn't turn us a way . Our room was very clean and the bed was great. The TV is very large. For the price it's worth more than they charged. We felt very safe which is very important. Breakfast not plenty for big eaters but it was plenty for us. The shower is awesome . You must go ! It's well worth it. We are going back on February 25th heading back to Florida. If I could give this place a ZERO I would. Just want to say tonight we checked in and the shower would NOT turn off. Called the front desk and was told to turn it off the way I turned it on. Sorry everyone if you have no water in the morning. They also put us on the 2nd floor after we requested a ground floor room. Was told we looked like we could make the stairs. And not in a joking way either. There is no elevator. The website does NOT show what this place really looks like. I will say it appears clean. I wasn't expecting fancy but I did expect decent cable and a shower and toilet that work. Update: we finally turned off the shower by removing the on faucet. Then two guys came to check out the problem. We had to tell them to come back in the MORNING to fix it. They did bring a plunger though. read more

We picked this place because of the glowing reviews. It was clean. The area was sketchy. A little too far off the highway. The biggest problem was the partying right next door. There was loud music, screaming, yelling, drinking and pot smoking until 3:30 a.m. No one from management did anything about it. We would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. From now on, it's Holiday Inn Express for us. It is NOT a boutique hotel! Management was hard to communicate with on the phone. It was all very strange. They would answer the phone and hang up. They would answer and speak in another language. I thought it was Spanish, but they denied it. Then, I tried to call and let it ring and ring and ring and then just cut off. First of all, let me say the shower is amazing! The room had the appearance of being clean. The price was very reasonable. However, the ceiling in this bathroom had mold growing in several places (room 215). Three of the seven nights I stayed I killed German roaches. If there's one there's a million! They have no housekeeping staff so the owner and his wife do the housekeeping. The odor in the room was so bad I had to go buy plug ins and room spray. Lastly but not least the customer service isn't good or bad it's non existent. They only have staff from 3:00pm until some time in the evening. This Inn Was clean and a great value for the price we paid! It's been renovated. I am very sensitive to smell, and I was very happy to find this place or at least our room to be order free and and clean! Others review had complains about noise and smell! The staff were VERY nice and friendly! Our original room key had a problem, and the wonderful clerk walked upstairs with us to make sure the new keys worked! The room was just BEAUTIFUL! The bed was comfortable and clean; the room was sparkling; there were plenty of outlets, plenty of space; the lighting was excellent, and, OH! THAT SHOWER!!! It has a waterfall setting that massages your shoulders and back, and after a long day spent wandering around in caves, it was JUST what I needed! I want one in my house! It was a LUXURY! I loved the whole experience at the Athena Inn, and we will DEFINITELY be back again! Dining is close by - there's a convenient gas station for snacks - you're close to anywhere you want to go... This place was quite a surprise. It may look like hell from the outside but the rooms inside are completely updated and modern. They're very simple with not a lot of extras although there is a coffee machine and an ice bucket. What was outstanding about this facility is that the rooms were very very clean. The thing that I did not like was the bed was very very soft. Take a look at some of the pictures people have posted. The shower was outstanding. That gets a five. Although it look like the rest of the rooms on the first floor had blinds that were cut to exactly match the window opening, our room the blinds were too big to fit the window and allowed viewing from the outside. I booked this room on hotels.com. The reviews were good, so I trusted that it would be decent at least. I was dubious because I was headed to unfamiliar territory but hopeful. Once I arrived, I was not disappointed. The staff is friendly, it's a small hotel with a very contemporary feel in the rooms. I love the fact that the rooms have hard wood flooring instead of carpet. The King size bed was so roomy and comfortable, the shower head was amazing. I wish it applied more pressure but overall it felt good. I will stay here again. It's only 20 minutes away from downtown Chattanooga and a few minutes from the hwy 75. It was formerly known as "Guesthouse Inn Chattanooga Hamilton Place). It's totally renovated. I give this a zero This place was disgusting! There was blood on my comforter make up on my pillowcases the towels were too small to dry off shower did not work well and the floor was so dirty it made my feet black. The phone in the room did not work. I specifically asked them to change my sheets give me new towels and mop the floor because my feet were filthy had the nerve to ask me if they could do it the next day. I told them no that is not acceptable I came back from my cousins wedding and they did not do anything with my room I had to call the front desk on my cell phone and ask for towels he brought up one towel when we had two people in the room and then said that's all he had! When I asked to speak to the manager they gave me the runaround and I was not able to speak to him. read more

We booked a room for a conference 3 weeks ahead through Bookings.com. We were unable to use the booked room. Since the Booking site said that Athena had a cancel anytime policy, and we were streaming our conference, it did not occur to me to take the late evening call from Athena. But, when I got a notification that my card had been charged by Athena, I was upset. I immediately called Athena Inn and spoke to a person and explained why we did not show. I asked him to refund the charge and he asked if we were going to use the room at all. I told him no, we were not able. Since the charge said it was pending, I figured everything would be OK. Today, July 1, I noticed the charge was not removed and called Athena Inn. I spoke with a different person who told me no shows were charged the full amount of their rooms, without the card or person being present as a matter of policy. I have never heard of such a thing and that policy was not present on the Booking.com site. I have never had my card charged for a service I did not use. I will never book at Athena again. read more

Bathrooms are the best thing about this place and that's it! If your looking for a nice shower this is the place for you but other than that staff are rude and ignorant to workers and schedules! We work a six day work week and can't always be around to renew at exact checkout, they immediately try to throw your stuff in the street and demand money not to do so. The people that call you can barely speak intelligible English and are hard too communicate with over phone! I've had my room a couple weeks now and more than once I've had a crack head knocking on my door wanting money like they just sit around and wait for you to come in from work, freaking vultures! If you travel for work I do not recommend staying here for an extended amount of time. read more

Our room was super clean, the beds were comfortable and the waterfall shower is amazing!! Check in was simple as well as checking out. It was super affordable on booking dot com and it was a little better then expected. We had noisy neighbors but that's not the fault of the owners. I found this place online while looking for a place to spend the night while driving from Chicago to Orlando. Best way to describe it is as a botique motel. For $64 including a 10% discount for being a AAA member and then sales tax, this place can't be beat. It is located in the heart of major commercial district, which means it is very accessible and close to all kinds of stores and restaurants. The downside of the location is that there can be a lot of traffic an noise. Some people noted in their reviews that there is a nightclub nearby. But it didn't bother me one bit while I was in my room. I went to bed at 11:30 pm and was able to sleep soundly without needing headphones or anything. The only sound was the sound of the air conditioning unit. Parking is limited, but there are only a small number of rooms, so it wasn't a big deal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. When I checked-in, they made sure to inform me how to get to my room, when check-out time was, when breakfast (complimentary) was, and they gave me a complimentary bottle of water. They did not inform me of how to login to the complimentary wi-fi network, but I was able to find the password printed on the sleeve around my two room keys. After checking-in, I drove around back to where my room was located. As I was unloading, I noticed that on the other side of the wooden fence from where I parked, there was a dumpster in the parking lot. It did not belong to the Inn, nor was it on their property, so they really had no control over it, but I was able to detect a distinct, unpleasant garbage smell from where I was parked. I didn't notice it as soon as I walked away from my car towards my room. The grounds were clean otherwise. The room and bathroom were modern looking. The room itself was clean. The floor was clean enough that you could walk on it without worrying about your socks or bare feet getting dirty. The king sized bed was spacious and comfortable. The mattress was a little bit soft, which didn't bother me. But some people who prefer a firm mattress might find it insufficiently firm. The room had a refrigerator (aka mini-bar) and a microwave, and HDTV, although the resolution was that sharp by today's standards for high-definition. But the selection of channels was great. The only complaint I had about the room was that there was a small amount of water on the floor near the door, which appeared to be condensation coming from the air conditioning unit. Later that night, it got a little cold, so i turned the AC down (warmer). I noticed the next morning that the water was gone. The bathrooms were clean and nice. The Inn provides two sets of towels (bath towel, face towel, and hand towel) and one bath mat. This is less than what a lot of hotels provide, but it was definitely sufficient, especially since it was just me in the room. They also only provided one bar of soap - less than most hotels, but more than enough for one person for one night. Maybe this helps them cut costs which enables them to provide such value to their guests. The shower/toilet room had some water stains on the door. There was not much room between the shower and the door, so I had to close the door before placing the bath mat on the floor in order to keep the bath mat in place and prevent it from getting caught under the door. The highlight of the stay was the shower. It was a modern shower with a rainfall showerhead, a waterfall showerhead, two-front facing sprinkler showerheads (upper and lower) that spray water directly at you from the front (or back, if you turn around), and a hose with a hand-held showerhead that looked a little like a shotgun microphone. Each showerhead was individually controlled by its own knob, except for the front sprayers, which both turn off and on together. You could select any one of the showerheads. You could turn them all on at once. Or you could select any combination of the four that you desire. The temperature control knob was labeled with degrees fahrenheit instead of the traditional blue-to-red spectrum. All this combined to make for a wonderful shower experience that you would never expect in a $60 a night hotel room. I enjoyed it so much I actually showered at night before bed, and after waking up in the morning. They also provide shower gel and conditioning shampoo, both of which are found in dispensers mounted on the shower wall, instead of in the traditional mini bottles you usually find in hotels. Breakfast, while complimentary, was limited. They provide coffee from a machine that can make an Americano (plain old coffee), cappuccino, mocha, hot chocolate, or iced coffee. They also provide tea, orange juice, milk, cereal, fruit (apples), granola bars and breakfast bars. Overall, a clean, quiet, relaxing experience with a great shower that allowed me to get a good night's rest for a great price. I would definitely stay here again when passing through Chattanooga. read more

if I could give this hotel a zero I would. First night was fine, had no complaints. The second day when we arrived back to our hotel room there were thousands and I mean THOUSANDS of ants crawling all over the bed, all over the floor, EVERYWHERE. They started to crawl and bite our feet as soon as we walked in. The hotel manager tried to blame it on an empty granola bar wrapper inside of one of my bags, after he realized that we weren't falling for that he quickly grabbed some ant repellent that he happened to have handy at the front desk. Obviously this had been a problem before, of course failing to mention any of this. I have never seen such an ant infestation at a hotel in my life. The manager should have apologized immediately and instead did everything he could to blame it on us first for the thousands of ants. I have never seen an ant infestation this bad anywhere in my life. I will never ever stay here again. read more

My husband and I are headed to Florida and we stopped in Chattanooga for the evening and stayed here. We were SO pleased with the quality of the room. It is close to so many places to eat and shop. We loved how clean and modern our room was. There weren't many choices for breakfast, but it was not bad! The only minor problem we had was how thin the walls were. We just stayed here and the reason it got 2 stars rather than something lower was because of the price. We needed a stop on the 20 hour drive and found this place and it did what it needed to for the most part. The walls are PAPER thin and we could hear the next room coughing the entire night. We also had people bang on our front door at 1 am (which I know is out of the hotels control so it really doesn't go toward this review). Our tv did not work at all. We did everything we could, adjust the all of the cables and wires etc. and still nothing. Should have been something that was checked by house keeping. Whatever. The hotel looks very messy on the outside, cleaning up the trash outside would do it justice. I turned on the heat and a whole bunch of crud and dust flew out in my face. Also, something that should be vacuumed out and checked by house keeping. But over all it served its purpose for the price. This is a small, seemingly independent, motel. It is very clean and the staff is very accommodating. The furnishings are inexpensive, but they've made the rooms very cute and comfortable. We arrived close to midnight and the room didn't get cool quickly enough for me and they let me change rooms. This was all my fault after a long day on the road as I don't think there was actually anything wrong with the ac if I'd been more patient. The beds were comfortable, the room was cool and extremely clean. Doubt I'll ever be driving through Chattanooga again, but if I did, I'd stay here again. Oh! During evacuations during hurricane Irma, my boyfriend and I and our cats experienced night and day type hotels. The hotel we were originally at was so gross and bad that at 2am we were on our phones trying to find another hotel. My boyfriend found the Athena Inn, I read a few reviews and looked at some photos and called them... at 2am. And they answered!! I was worried they wouldn't allow cats, but they said they accept pets with a reasonable extra fee. I booked a room immediately. The hotel seemed to be staffed by a wonderful family. Everyone was very polite and helpful. The front desk was polite, efficient, gave us water bottles, and allowed for early check-in. The room was fantastic and everything was very clean. The shower was amazing. I'd stay here again if traveling through the area. read more

Our stay was just fine. We were in town for a graduation and it was VERY fairly priced. For what we paid, we were very pleased with the room. It gets 3 stars because of what came after we checked out. I left my pillow in the room (it's a $50 orthopedic pillow) and realized it when we were about 6 hours out of town. I immediately called and the clerk said he would check with housekeeping and call me back. He never did. I called back the next day (Saturday) and talked to someone else; She said "yes, we have your pillow and we will ship it to you on Monday." TWO WEEKS go by without me receiving it and I continue to call every few days, each time with them saying "we'll check on it and call you right back" then never calling me back, or saying "yeah we'll send it out next week." Finally I talk to someone on what's going on the 3rd week and ask them to overnight it because I haven't had a good night's sleep in weeks. They do, and I finally receive it, but they charge my credit card $55 for the shipping fee. When I call them to complain, they say "well, you asked us to overnight it." I would not have needed it to be overnighted if they had sent it 3 weeks ago when I called the first time! It's quite frustrating. So any money that I saved from the room being reasonably priced was offset by this whole ordeal. I know I shouldn't have left it in the room in the first place, but the poor customer service they gave me will ensure I never stay here again. read more

The hotel itself is not bad. Not super nice, but definitely good for the price. However, the noise from the room above us and the noise from what we came to the conclusion of as a tv in a room was so loud that we were woken up past midnight and it never ended. We called the office twice and were told they called the room above us to warn them. However, it continued and we got up at 1am to drive an hour and a half back home it was so bad. These rooms don't have carpet, which look nicer and I'm sure are easier to keep clean, however that makes the noise of upstairs that much louder. The shower head was very nice, but the shower itself was dirty in many spots. So disappointed!! We will never stay there again and I will be sure to warn any and everybody of this read more

Walked up to the door had to wait 15 minutes for the girl (who was actually a child definitely under the age of 16) to even start helping the person who was already inside then she left the front desk so i rang the bell so that she would know another customer had come in she asked for my id and card then she tells me oh we don't accept debit cards per our policy when it clearly states that if you use debit there is $100 deposit which i was fine with the lady continued to tell me its our policy not my problem so i asked if i could be refunded my money as i prepaid for my reservation and her response was "it should be returned to you within 5 to 7 business days" so i asked if there is a way that could be done sooner because I needed that money for a place to sleep tonight as i am traveling she continued to tell me have a nice day without answering a single further question regarding my bill or the charge pending on my card i asked for a manager because the girl was clearly underage to begin with and was denied with the sentence " have a nice day goodbye sir" this is by far the rudest hotel service i have ever seen read more

My family stayed here on our way to vacation. The room was very reasonably priced. Initially the room appeared very clean and updated. My son had been in a carseat for most of the day so he was eager to crawl around. My husband and I checked under the beds and all over to make sure it was safe to put him down. Under the air conditioner there was a vibrator. When I went to the front desk the lady said she would remove it from the room. When she arrived she had a broom and dust pan that she swept it into and abruptly left the room. She didn't bother to clean or disinfect the area at all. I'm so glad that we were more thorough than housekeeping as far as checking the room. How disgusting that my son could have touched that. Like I said the room initially appeared clean but the back of the bathroom door had what appeared to be makeup smeared all over. The air conditioner was very loud when it turned on throughout the night but this seemed to be only in our room 112. I received no response after emailing the contact listed on their website. read more
