Mike and Ventura came by today to assess the mold that we had come up on a recent mold test. The test had scared us a bit thinking we'd have to move out of our house to do full remediation. But Mike and Ventura came and quelled all of our fears. It would be so easy to be alarmist and try to get us to pay for a full remediation, but it was so clear that they were honest and trustworthy. My landlord called ATI to take care of a black mold issue in the closet. While out the incompetent employees failed to lift the carpet to make sure there was no mold under. I think you know where this is going. On top of which they left my front door wide open for over twenty minutes until I said something. I'm handicap and have a service animal and couldn't leave my apartment because ATI had my path in my unit and outside my door blocked. When they left they left my door unlocked and all my lights on. I HAD A BROKEN PIPE\FLOOD! I just want to let my neighbors know of my experience. We found we had a leak inside our wall between the dining room and kitchen! Timing couldn't have been worse as my Mother passed just days before. I was already overwhelmed but this pushed me to the edge of the cliff. I didn't know where the water was coming from but could see mold on walls and inside cabinets. I can not thank Shane Lapka and American Technologies enough for getting rid of the mold in my house. After going to many doctors because I had become very sick. My doctor suggested getting my house tested for mold. The test can back and we had Black toxic mold. I had another company remove it. Tested again and it was still there. Shane came and inspected my house and came up with a plan to remove it and have the air ducks and air conditioning system treated as well. The team game to my home and put up containment areas throughout. The process took several days but Shane let us know the progress and updates on what was going on. This time, the mold test came back and it was gone. They cleaned everything in the areas unlike the other company. I did not know that mold was such a problem. If you have any leaks, it grows behind the walls or under the flooring where you can not see it. If you have any water leaks, call American Technologies right away and they will come out and take care of it to make sure you are safe in your home. ATI showed great potential when they came for some demo work. They were on time, polite but... 1. We had clearly agreed prior to the job to keep some parts of my kitchen cabinetry to use on the one to be rebuilt so that it would match the rest of the kitchen. Unfortunately they trashed a part that is no longer manufactured. So I am going to end up with a part of my cabinetry not matching the rest and that I will have to purchase when I already had it. Either they broke it and didn't want to tell me or they trashed it by mistake and did not check that all the parts they should have kept were left behind before leaving. Either way is unacceptable. 2. They also damaged my ceiling and flooring with a cutter when they installed/removed the containment for demo. They claim it was only tape marks but there are clear grooves on both! I was going to replace the floor so it's OK (although they should have asked for my permission to use a cutter on the floor) but the ceiling is not OK. When I asked Greg (the regional manager) to fix what they damaged, he claimed it's not of their doing. This is unacceptable. 3. The demo team left me for days with a kitchen unnecessarily unusable. I had to call my insurance for them to come back and reconnect everything. This is unacceptable. 4. Steve Bodnar (the project director) immediately stopped any communication with me, including about the damages and loss that his team caused, because I had told him that I am not signing any work authorization until I see flooring that I like. This arrogance in response to a legitimate customer request is unacceptable. 5. The same Steve Bodnar miss-evaluated the square footage of the flooring to replace by about 100 sq ft. When I gave him the opportunity to correct it, he did not care to do so. I had to call my insurance to get another company to do the proper measurements. I got other estimates from other contractors showing that Steve's measurement was off. A mistake can happen. Refusing to look into it is unacceptable. Because of the disrespect towards customers' time, needs and requests, and because ATI refused to make up for their mistakes which will cause me to pay a charge of about $500 that should not have occurred and will leave me with a part of my kitchen not being an exact match with the rest, I strongly advise against using this company for your needs. If they respond to my review, they can claim whatever they want. The above remains the facts and I can substantiate every single one of them if/when needed. **Update after ATI's response* "Leader in customer service"? "Exceptional attention to detail"? Is that a joke? ATI has no shame making such arrogant claims utilizing my review after everything they messed up and the pictures I am showing. Everyone can see how the "leader in customer service" deals with customers. They just gave one more reason to stay away from them. I am no longer wasting my time with them. read more

ATI was hired by the owners of an apartment building I lived in to do a lead abatement of wood windows and they did a horrendous job. I had already been told by a reputable abatement expert that abating lead from wood windows was not advised because it was extremely hard to get the lead out (because wood is porous) and that many times if people try to do this they end up having to replace the windows anyway because there is still lead there after a costly abatement. That same expert even refused to give a quote for it because of this and recommended window replacement. I passed the info on to the apt building owners but they chose to move forward with ATI instead. I was out of town when all of this happened and ATI made a construction zone out of my apt. I did not know this was going to happen when I left town so I had not taken pains to secure valuables, protect my items, etc. The project manager that the owners hired sent me some photos and updates of what was happening and it was alarming. ATI did not follow federal or state abatement protocols either inside OR outside of the apt. ...There were no zippered walls, our furniture wasn't sealed off, our bedding was left open, etc.. Not only that, you can clearly see in the photos that they were SANDING THE LEAD off our windows with the WINDOWS OPEN!! They did NOT have required vacuums on their sanders and they were letting debris fall on the driveways and units below. They did not display the federally mandated signs so that my neighbors or anyone who walked by would know that an abatement was happening. They did not TELL any neighbors what was happening. In fact, a neighbor asked what was going on and one of the workers said in Spanish to the other worker that he "didn't need to tell her" but she speaks Spanish so she knew what he said. That is IN VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW. Process wise, I was told by the project manager ATI would be done in a few days. Days later, I was told they needed to "come back with a new team" because they were "having a hard time reaching the friction points" (duh, see statement from non-ATI abatement expert above). Incidentally, the friction points are the points on the side that rub against the window when it goes up and down. The dust they create when opened and closed is why we had lead dust in our window sills. The new team came in and they sanded even more and caused even more damage to our apt. I don't know what the bill was to the owners but I assume it was ridiculous for this sub-par job and that it cost far more than new windows. The EPA rules on abatement are quite clear and are posted on their website. California has additional requirements. The required abatement forms were not filed with the state (I called and checked). When I finally got home, there was a thick layer of (lead) dust on everything I owned. I had to throw out every porous item in my apartment - think couch, curtains, rugs, bedding, towels, luggage, pillows, brand new office chair, etc. My clothes had to be cleaned by a special environmental cleaning company. I also got rid of cooking things that had open vents I couldn't clean like my rice cooker, toaster oven, etc. Every other item and inch of my apt had to be completely and thoroughly cleaned by me. This was all done at MY EXPENSE because of this horrible, horrible company. Don't ever, ever use this company. There are so many other professionals out there who both follow the law and follow the standards of decency. ATI does not. read more

After the last big storm in north county San Diego, I experienced a leak on my bedroom ceiling. There were several different contractors with various assigned duties. ATI came in after the room had been dried, cleared, and tested for asbestos they prepared the house with plastic to protect the windows, floors, and entryway to the bedroom. Like most CA homes, this popcorn ceiling contained asbestos, so there was a hazmat team sent in to remove the ceiling. They did a though job removing the ceiling as well as all the insulation. When finished, they had removed all the plastic zip coverings etc. It was a 2-day job about 8hrs of work each day. The craftsmen were hard-working and respectful wearing booties and masks as demanded by the nature of their work as well as the pandemic requirements. The 2nd team, who were also polite and courteous, Lead by Hector along with Franciso worked together very well and managed to replace the insulation and installed the ceiling. Hector stayed a bit later to begin the taping necessary to come in the next day to resurface and paint the ceiling and the walls where needed. Day 2 Hector finished the prep and finished the job! He actually went ahead and painted all walls, baseboards, even scraped and painted the inside window area! It may sound corny, but when Hector brought me in to see the finished job, I teared up a bit! I couldn't help it. I was so grateful for his going the "extra 5 miles!" With so many other contractors involved, it took 11 weeks to get the project completed *had the roof repaired, etc. Ryl Project Manager & Mike Carroll knew about all the delays, and when they were able to step in and finish the job, it was done efficiently with an incredible amount of hard work and professionalism. We moved into a new modern home built with underground/under slab BlueDuct air conditioning ducts. During construction, openings of the ducts had been exposed during significant rain and wind storms. We learned after moving in and furnishing the home that the builder's efforts to remove water and debris from the ducts had failed and that there was water and mud remaining in the ducts. After significant research of qualifications and reviews, we decided to interview ATI and another remediation company. ATI sent Shane and Andre who were very impressive and thorough and who demonstrated some of the robotic and other cutting edge remediation devices they would employ. They also assured us that extreme care would be taken as they work in our fully furnished home. Thankfully, we selected ATI, primarily based on our very positive impressions of Shane and Andre. There were a number of unforeseen challenges encountered in the ducts by the ATI team including far more water than anticipated (hundreds of gallons), serious amounts of mud, two sandbags, a cemented over air conditioning register and a spray paint can! The job is now done and we couldn't be more pleased with the professionalism, care and results accomplished by Shane, Andre and their team. They did indeed properly restore all that they said they would. Aside from the now completely clean (and empty) ducts, you would never know ATI had been there....exactly as promised. The manager of my project does not return calls for scheduling services or answering questions; I also hear he is "out of the office for the day." I used my homeowners insurance for what I thought might be a broken pipe of some sort under my house. They sent this company out on a Saturday which they came. The gentleman climbed under my house stated that I needed a plumber and that there was not any puddles of water apparent and that he could treat it but I really just should get a plumber. I signed the paperwork and he and his helper left. I had a plumber come the next day and he fixed the problem that day. I called my homeowners insurance told them I fixed it and I did not need to utilize them for this problem. Two months later I received a $1,200 bill from this company stating that I owe them for their services. A week later I received a letter stating they are putting a lien against my property. They wanted $1,200 to climb under my house to come out and tell me I needed a plumber. It took me a month to get a hold of whomever is the only person I could dispute the bill with and once I did he was OK. I understand that it is COVID times and businesses are doing their best to stay open and I did not want the whole bill written off, but anything over $500 is simply disgusting in my eyes. He proceeded to tell me that they went out on a Saturday which to his company is over time, and that they treated under my house for water damage. The funny thing about this is I did not consent treatment. I told him the plumber who came to fix the issue stated in the bill there was no dampness and or water damage anywhere in site. Once the whomever finally got a hold of me - him and I went back in forth he brought my bill down to $700 which is just... wrong. I hope you can tell that this obviously left a nasty taste in my mouth and I would not recommend this company to anyone. I also informed my homeowners insurance of this incident and that they should use another companies moving forward. read more

When we had a slab leak, I didn't realize the extent water damage could do. My Plumber stopped the leak. ATI sent a mitigation team, who immediately checked the extent of the water damage, cut open the walls and started drying out my house. I was shocked to see my house in pieces, walls open, floor torn up and ceiling cut apart from re piping. ATI did an assessment, worked with my adjuster, and guided me through every aspect. I had kids in school, taking finals at the time and an autistic child who had issues with change and being disrupted. My project manager worked with our schedules, working swiftly and efficiently to keep our home life as settled and undisturbed as possible for my son. They used great professionals, who helped turn my disastrous house, into a showplace. They worked with me on my ideas, brought samples, and like all restoration projects, when something unexpected came up, worked directly with my insurance adjuster, so my life was hassle free. We had to go to a hotel at the end for what we thought would be 2 weeks. I got a call after 7 days saying we could move back in tomorrow. When we arrived home, I was pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful house, floors, appliances replaced. It was a miracle. I couldn't thank my project manager enough. Any questions I had, he was quick to answer and take care of if needed. When I had to have some downtime for my son, they worked on giving us a few days, and picking back up without without fault. I was so impressed with their professionalism, level of expertise, and communications. This is one of those services that you hope you'll never need but if you do be very grateful that they are as wonderful as they are. When I had not one but two floods in one week in my downstairs 2302 Marshallfield apartment, they were assigned from my insurance to remove everything from my apt. b to allow for the extensive repairs to the structure, help go through my belongings and determine what was totaled, clean and sterilize (sewage spill) what could be put back together. After the first spill they were attentive, accessible, empathetic, and my particular rep Jan was a wonderful advisor who helped guide me through the process (even steps beyond her responsibilities) and helped bring my stress level down and helped guide me through the muck to the light at the end of the tunnel. I took her advice eagerly and was so thankful for the quality team she sent to my house to pack everything up. After the second laundry room spill I will admit I just had to walk away from the apartment and could not deal with it - leaving a LOT of stuff for the crew to pack up. They worked slowly and methodically and were so thorough! I just hoped it would all work out for the best and it would all come back when we were done. When it came time to move us into our new upstairs apartment across town (not risking flooding from above again) they sent out yet another amazing team of people. The onsite managers in both moves were such a pleasure to deal with. The thing that impressed me was that no matter what member of the team I told about furniture location (or whatever) it got done. They packed with extreme care and protected everything. They documented and described things so that it was so easy to tell where things came from, hence where they should go. Again, I cannot say thank you enough to the folks from this company. I can honestly say that were it not for the amazing people at ATI, I'd still be stuck in a shitty situation but thanks to them my kids and I got through this quickly and have moved out and on.
