Atilanos on North Francis is by far the best Atilanos to go to in Spokane. It's newer, cleaner, and bigger than the others in the city. The food is tasty and they have pastor meat unlike the others. The service is quick and fast and the food is tasty. The cucumber lime is a hit and once in a while they will have strawberry horchata which is a must try if it there. read more

My son was going to get a burrito so I asked him to get me fried ice cream. I get it there all the time. They literally put a scoop of ice cream in the shell without any of the toppings. Toppings being the chocolate, whipped cream, and a cherry. I've put a pic of what we got. Tried to call and complain but the number that I found on the receipt is out of order. Bad enough they screw up the food but don't even have a working number either? Definitely do not recommend. read more

Wandermere location-Yesterday my wife ordered 8 shredded beef taco Tuesday tacos, got them home and they were all chicken of which I do not care for. Two weeks ago, I ordered 6 shredded beef tacos and got home to find out I only got 5 although I paid for 6. Not a huge deal for the money. Stopped in the next Tuesday and asked the woman to ensure I got 6 as I was shorted the prior week. She checked them but not a sorry or any offer to correct the issue. So, why is the quality so poor when it comes to accuracy of an order at this location. Again, for the money it's not a huge issue but when I place an order, I would expect it to be what I order and not to have inaccuracies from this location on what seems to be a regular basis. And while I'm at it- why do I no longer get a taco sauce for each taco ordered? Seems sub-par. read more

There seems to be a change in management over the last two years. Food has improved in quality and orders are made in a more timely manner. They have switched from Styrofoam takeout containers to a lightweight clear kind. I always get the fish tacos and really like them. Love the sauce and included lime quarter to squeeze over them. Oh boy, this place really went downhill. Not sure what happened but when I moved to Spokane 2 years ago, when I found this place - the food was great, specifically lengua tacos, plus they were the only place that seemed to have lengua. I've come here dozens of times but as of past year, quality of food gradually began declining. Today, I decided to revisit the place to give it another chance. I ordered the same lengua tacos. Upon arrival, everything seemed freshly cooked, which seemed as a good sign, except it wasn't. The meat had ZERO seasoning so it was bland af. It was also very very greasy, almost as if they cooked it in straight fat. Yuck! Even after adding lime and salsa, there was still barely any flavor. All 4 tacos, unseasoned as f, very disappointing. I'm also pretty positive it wasn't lengua, but something else (probably pork). Also staff in the kitchen was very loud and obnoxious, which was very annoying. Constant laughing, shouting, and cursing isn't what you'd expect from the place you'd be eating at. Anyways, this was their last chance on my menu and I'm very disappointed. If you want bones and gristle in your food, eat here. I have tried at least 5 different items, and every time I end up getting bones. Carnitas street taco had a bone that was literally 1-1/2" long. Quit asking for tips in the drive thru. I haven't gotten my food. I haven't seen my food and I haven't tasted my food. Why in the world would I tip. Staff gets an attitude if I don't tip and last time my food was upside down in the bag. I usually go to Atilanos 1 to 2 times a week. No more. Stopped here for lunch. First impressions were of a little hole in the wall Mexican type fast food place. Looks that way inside also. Staff was friendly and nice. Professional demeanor. Now the food, let's talk about the food. Large portions and reasonable prices. I had the carna asada burritos and carna chips. Those were so awesome and flavors all worked stellar together. After ordering from Atilanos more times than I can count, I can say 2 things with confidence. First off, this is the best location in town as far as I can tell. The portions are bigger, and I've never had a complaint about my food in the slightest. I'm not going to say the other locations suck, because I will order from any of them if I'm hungry and close-by. I wouldn't say I'm a burrito snob, but I'm the rarity that will take a burrito over tacos on most days. Coming from California didn't hurt my upbringing of eating awesome mexican food either. I really hate to give them a 2 stars but because I have been to the location on Francis and the food was sooooo much better. I read alot of the previous reviews and let me start by saying the staff was very nice (I used the drive thru) and I had no issues with understanding them even with an acent. The person at the drive thru was welcoming and even while taking another order behind me greeted me. No compliants here. I ordered the same thing I have at the other location 5 rolled tacos with Guac, lettece and cheese and I was very disappointed. These were very soggy on the inside as if they may not have been cooked quite long enough and the Guac and rolled taco's were tasteless. So this happened at the Francis location but there is no listing on yelp m, so I am leaving my review here * Ok I loved Atilanos. I have eaten here too many times to count. Yes it's not the best food but when it's good it's good. I hate to post this review but since they feel they don't need to call me back, I'll just have to make sure other people are aware of the danger, they put others in. Last week, I had their special tacos. I was on my last bite and I felt a hard crunch. It was GLASS. I called them to let them know. The gal on the phone called me back (after inspecting the meat and calling her manager). She abruptly asked me if I had any "sauce". I stated yes the verde. She said "oh ummmm I'll call you back ". I never heard back and clearly a jar broke and instead of throwing it out, they tried salvaging the rest of the sauce. I'm outraged by their lack of interest. Oh so disappointed. I ordered a crisp taco and steak fajita with corn tortillas, as well as extra salsa and guacamole. Where to start? The taco was the size of a soft taco you would get at Taco Bell. Ick. The tortillas? Well, there weren't any. Just a container of very tasteless steak pieces, a glob of guac and sour cream. rice and beans. The extra salsa and guac? Oh why even bother? Teeny containers. Although the salsa was good, the guac was definitely not guac. More like a dressing. Which tasted horrible. I used the shell from the taco, which completely fell apart, to try and salvage my lunch. I'm throwing it all out. Which really chaps my hide because I planned on having this for two meals. I grew up in San Diego County and moved to the PNW in 1999. For the last 20 years I have looked for any Mexican food place on par with home and a few weeks ago I needed to go to Spoken and I saw Atilanos from the freeway a few times in the past. My nephew went there and told me it was like home so I just tried it and my search is OVER. Do yourself a favor and go there. It's the best Mexican food in the PNW. There is a place in Boise I hear is also good. It's taken years but real Mexican food is starting to come in. I used to like a place back home called Albertos. There as also Rubertoes and other like places. They all did the same basic things with a different touch. Atilano's is the same basic food with yet again a different touch. Figured they were having an off day so give them another shot... well this is the "fish" that was in my taco. It looked like an actual black turd. I came to Atilanos on a Sunday afternoon for lunch after a photo shoot with my siblings, their significant others, and I. It's the holiday season and our mother noted that she would love updated photos of her children as her Christmas present. One of my sisters set up the photoshoot at a Christmas tree farm with a professional photographer. It was a cold day, 36 degrees Farenheit and overcast. We had individual and group pictures of us taken in this weather. Including significant others, there are eight of us so the process took a couple hours in the cold. Needless to say, the event was a little tiring, so afterwards we decided to stop by Atilanos for lunch. I had never been before, but others in my group insisted it was delicious. I assumed that Atilanos being a Mexican restauraunt, I would be able to find something on their menu that I could eat. If I'm unsure about food at restauraunts, I make it a habit to ask. I was a little upset after getting lost in the car, and faded from walking around the tree farm while not having anything for breakfast other than a couple apples, so I got straight to the point. "Do you have any vegan menu options?" "No." The gentleman at the counter replied. No follow up, no suggestions such as plain lettuce or a flour tortilla... That was it. He seemed more focused on getting the line of people behind me processed than helping me choose something to eat. One thing I've learned from being vegan, is that you can't assume that common plant based ingredients at restaurants are free of animal products. Beans, corn chips, and tortillas can be prepared with lard. Rice can be prepared with milk. Salad can be prepared with milk and egg. I said, "nevermind then" and sat in the corner until my family had finished eating. I know I could have asked for clarification. I could have asked more specific questions such as, "do your beans contain lard?" My siblings even offered to go next door and get me Taco Time which I know has vegan options, but at that point I was too hangry to be reasonable. I was too upset about the guy in Customer Service who didn't even attempt to accomodate me. I get it, this is an authentic Mexican restaurant. I wouldn't normally eat here. As I was with family who eat mostly normal diets, I ended up here. However, I wasn't asking for lentil soup with field roast and gluten free bread, this was just bad customer service. I've been to STEAKHOUSES that find me something vegan to eat. My only hope is that other vegans who are curious about this restauraunt see my review and get an idea of what they're in for. read more

Way worse than the other Arilanos that I've been to. The carne asada was very over cooked. Like it had been sitting there boiling in water for hours. And hours. And the red sauce was loaded with more habanero/Serrano/something than you would think is possible. The brown sauce and pico were good, green sauce a little too mild. No radishes or lemons even. It all depends upon your experience and expectations. This is certainly a step above Taco time in authenticity but it doesn't exactly move in to the rank of an authentic taqueria. What you basically get is Mexifornian fast food. It's cheap, it fills you up and it's very average compared to real taqueria's. With that being said the closest thing you can get to real mexican up north is De Leon foods on Francis or if you go downtown try Tacos el Sol (taco truck) or taco tumbras. Affordable! Ate here because I thought we were going to Hula Hut which used to be in the same location (what happened to Hula Hut, btw?). The food here is equivalent to taco truck food. imo, you get more food here than some of the other taco trucks I've been too and the prices here are cheaper than the tacos trucks I've been to. They have horchata! Not sure if it's homemade or if it's pre-made or not. I got carne asada tacos and they were very good, served with a side of beans and rice. The tortillas were corn tortillas, not flour. This is not your typical mexican fare, it is very simple and nothing is smothered in sauces and cheese and sour cream like other mexican restaurants. It was hard to decide what to get, since they have a huge selection to choose from. They also offer menu items that are hard to find around here such as menudo and lengua. I am very surprised so many people are unhappy about their experience here. Especially when they are complaining about stuff like the heavy accents of the people working the counter or elements that are found in authentic Mexican restaurants . It's a real Mexican restaurant not Taco Bell. There's a taco time right next door. Go there. My husband is from San Diego and one thing he always said he missed when he moved was the authentic Mexican places. We found this place and he begs to eat here at least once a week. We don't go that frequently but it is a family favorite. I have never had a bad dish there and have tried lots of them. My favorite is the carne asada plate. I love the flavor of the meat and I also love the beans and rice. We have had the breakfast burritos several times and they are extremely filling and hearty. Pretty darn good. We ordered: -quesadilla kids meal (comes with rice,beans and drink) $3.10 - #5 meal: taco and burrito, rice and beans. You get to pick either chicken or beef. We did beef taco and chicken burrito. $6.55. - Chips w/ guacamole and cheese. $3.60. Kids meal was well received. The quesadilla looked grilled instead of just tossed in the microwave to melt the cheese. It was a good size. The rice but good.was standard fair Taco beef taco was good. The meat was superior to any other fast food taco. The chicken burrito was yummy, filled with only juicy chicken. So if your idea of a chicken burrito means more fillings, you might be disappointed with this one. The chips were very fresh and tasty. The guac was poured on the chips, making the top ones soggy. I will ask for it on the side in the future, but it was very tasty. Also a huge portion, an entire full plate full of chips. We have looked and tried many Mexican Food places since moving to Spokane and found mostly bland versions of what we miss so much in California where Mexican food is king. Although the menu is fairly basic, Atilano's does a great job. The meats are cooked with flavor, and it comes out in their dishes like no other in Spokane. The fish taco offered more than a fried fish stick which is miles above the others we tried. Very tasty! The chili relleno burrito delicious, the shredded beef tostada tasted like the well-flavored beef and we woofed down the carne asada wet burrito. The guacamole was chunky and not from a can thank God! And the best part of all is their spicy salsa. It's not for the faint of heart. This is now our go-to stop. Fantastic all around. read more

I like to purchase authentic Mexican food from Atilanos instead of the American version of taco time next door. But wtf??? WHY can't you wrap your burritos in foil??! WHY do you try to be even cheaper and place each burrito in STYROFOAM???? Come on!!! We prefer your food OVER American taco time: please spend the money and get some paper /cardboard to-go containers.
