Visited this place for an Early lunch! The place was clean and smelled like good food. We ordered a chimichanga and enchilada. The food was quick and fresh, no skimping on quality. The enchilada sauce had a deep rich sauce that enveloped the enchilada. The shredded beef inside the chimichanga was flavorful and tender. I recommend this place as it's open and bright! Went in on Tuesday for all you can eat tacos. The tacos are basic, but the ingredients are flavorful and taste fresh. You can choose chicken or ground beef tacos, and I got to try both. For less than $14 after tax, it's a great price for unlimited tacos. They serve you chips and salsa, 2 tacos, plus refried beans and Mexican rice. You can then request more tacos, beans, and rice when you finish what you have. There was also a bowl of Mexican candy you could take from near the door, which I've never tried before. Chili powder and fruit flavors actually go quite well together. I removed a star from my rating because the service was a bit slow. After I finished my plate, there was a long wait before the server came back so I could ask for more food. I also wanted to try their cheesecake chimichangas, but they were out. A lot to like here, just fell a little bit short. Loved the salsa/bachata music playing as I walked in. Lots of pride of ownership in the interior decor. Server was very friendly and attentive (you will feel like family here). The food was what fell short. I liked that they give you free chips, salsa, and BEAN DIP. Salsa was fresh made but had very little spice to it. Maybe if you ask they can give you a different salsa. Big menu with lots of options. Ordered the shrimp enchiladas. Came with huge shrimp but had no salsa or spice to it. I used some salsa that came with the chips to spice it up a little. Was craving tres leches cake for dessert but it wasn't on the menu. Only options were churros and fried ice cream. Ordered fried ice cream but it was a scoop of ice cream with corn flakes layered over the ball of ice cream. Should have gotten a warm crispy cinnamon flavored shell that goes with the ice cream, not STALE corn flakes! You guys can do better! Food was 3 stars, service was 5, so they got 4 stars. read more

This has been one of my favorite places until yesterday. I ordered a combo with a ground beef enchilada & chili relleno, which food was fine, but not outstanding as it has been in the past. HOWEVER, at $17.95 don't think it was fair to get charged an additional $5.95 for the relleno! Especially when it wasn't noted anywhere on the menu. Great food and service. I am partial to their shrimp (al mojo de ajo and fajitas). Fajitas come out sizzling. Nice touch with cucumbers in the water. We came for the taco discount on Tuesday initially that was lackluster but as we explored their menu more found a lot of delicious options. I drove by many times and didn't realize this restaurant in the strip mall. I'm so glad I finally did. It's a gem. The staff is so warm and welcoming. The open kitchen was fun to see and the murals are beautiful and vibrant. Especially the wall filled with Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The restaurant is very open, clean, and has lots of seating. We were greeted with fresh chips and delicious salsa. Staff was attentive and answered all our questions. We both chose enchiladas and we were very happy with our meals. Our meals were hot and cooked to perfection. The beans were the best I've had in Spokane so far. I asked for a hotter salsa and the one they brought was perfect. So much flavor and the right amount of heat. The house margarita was probably a mix. I just prefer fresh squeezed juice for my cocktails. But there's other options to cleanse your pallet. The food was so freaking delicious that I didn't blink when I paid the bill. It was more expensive than some Mexican restaurants in town but it was worth it. Tasted like any other chain Mexican restaurant I've been to. Staff were friendly and on top of things until the end. I feel like I could've gotten my check sooner. They did not warn me about the super hot plate so be careful. It was pretty empty when I went so felt like a mix between fast food/dine in. Plenty of parking and decent amount of tables. The menu is very similar to most of the Mex joints in the metro, but thankfully they are not playing it safe with recipes that cater to folks that are timid of spices. I tested them with Chile Colorado, and instead of a benign, basic red sauce, I got sabrosa gravy with an impressive depth of chile flavor and gentle smokiness. It made me feel like I was sitting in an abueala's kitchen. Big, big chunks of beef in the order. This was not a wimpy plate. Carnitas Fajitas? What? Wifey went straight for them, and such a simple protein exchange from the expected norm (beef/chicken/shrimp) wound up being something that we hope other places will consider attempting. Easily the best Mexican food I've had in Spokane in the last 10 years. Location is new to them and it's super clean. Open seating in a large dining room but it's not too cavernous. Staff is super friendly with spot on service. Steak fajitas were awesome and pretty large portion. Right balance of meat to veg. Tres Amigos platter was too much food for my wife to finish. Chile relleno was her favorite. This was not inexpensive at $23 for each entree but the value was there for me. Between the quantity and flavor of the food it was worth it!! read more

Open a week, good time to try it. You get refried beans with your chips! Probably not the location for intimate dinners, it's a wide open room - fmr location of Kabob which I was sorry to see go. Since I think Spokane could use a middle eastern restaurant more than another Mexican restaurant it seems a dubious transition and tbh the location isn't great, either. Anyway, mole was very good, the tacos were tacos though I wish they'd had onions... I prefer black beans to refried but that's just the way it goes, I'll remember to ask next time. Was hoping for more. The service was great but the food was lacking. The chips tasted like maybe they'd been fried in old oil? I loved my chile relleno, except for the mouthful of stem. Just wasn't prepared for that. Probably won't go back, we always catch the broadway Spokane shows and have dinner after - my daughter is a huge fan of Mexican food and there are a fist full of other options. I've been reading the great reviews of this restaurant and tonight we tried it ourselves. They were busy but we were immediately seated and given menus and a carafe of water with cucumber. So refreshing! Fresh chips and salsa with a side dish of bean dip were brought right away. I ordered one of their special drinks, a mango margarita with raspberry swirl, blended and I chose the medium size. It was delicious! My husband ordered a Negra Modelo. The entree I ordered was picadillo taquitos served with refried beans and rice. The taquitos were the best I've had for years. Generous serving of 4 corn tortillas, stuffed with tasty, crispy pork, cut in half (so 8 pieces total) and topped with small scoops of guacamole and sour cream. Superb! The beans and rice were good, just kind of standard. My husband had the Camarones Zarandeados, 8 large butterflied shrimp. They were marinated then grilled and served with a scoop of white rice. Most of the flavor was on the shell as they were grilled on each side - still tasty. Kind of messy to remove the shells, though. We thought the flavor wasn't quite bold enough and the dish would be better served with their standard rice. Still, good just not fab. We haven't had Mexican food lately as it has felt boring. So glad we tried Maracas as it's renewed our interest. I think it's the best Mexican restaurant in Spokane. read more

I hate it when I order based on a restaurant's reviews, like Maracas, and when I get the ordered delivery it's not a 4 star meal. I gave it 3 stars because the portions were so large. The word bland comes to mind. The mushrooms on my arroz con pollo didn't seem to be cooked, but they were big chunks. My wife's enchilada was "ok". What a great new find. Maracas on Ruby really hit it out of the park for this taco Tuesday. It was our first visit and a good one. We were seated quickly and brought water with fresh cucumber slices. What a nice detail. Chips and salsa were also delivered. One salsa dish for each of us and a dish of refried beans with cojita cheese sprinkled on top. Good stuff. We ordered all you can eat taco's (soft chicken) and the first round came out with rice and beans. They were absolutely stuffed with very tender chicken and veggies. Round two can also come with rice and beans but I opted out as I was pretty stuffed. Really an excellent meal and at $8 the all you can eat tacos is superb deal. Drinks were kept refilled and servers were attentive. The only gripe I had was the mens room could use some serious attention on the cleaning side.
