Visiting Spokane, WA from Arizona I wasn't expecting much from the Mexican food restaurants here. Spokane's adjacent to the Canadian border so maybe there's good poutine and moose burgers (is that a thing?) around, but Mexican food??? How wrong I was!!! We found this place on Yelp and it looked like a winner...4.7stars and right next to our hotel. We dined on a Saturday night and the place was packed...we got the last open table. I really loved the decorations inside- colorful, festive, and some really neat Dia De Los Muertos styled paintings. Our server was great and went through the menu...lots of selections. I wasn't super hungry so I got 3 street tacos (1 al pastor, 1 carnitas and 1 tinga). My son got an al pastor quesadilla and my wife got pollo tacos. The chips and salsa were good and held us over until the food came. When the food came they also brought out 3 more salsas in squeeze bottles and all of these were great too. All 3 of my street were very flavorful and all incredibly tender. Sometimes chicken and carnitas can be pretty bland but not here...these were exactly what I was looking for. My family loved their food as well and we left wishing we had a Los Habaneros Taqueria back in AZ! When I was paying for our meal at the cashier several people were picking up to go meals and heard we were from AZ visiting and both parties said we found the best spot in Spokane for Mexican food. We just finished having fun at Greenbluff, though most attractions were closed after Halloween, when my son found Los Habaneros on Yelp. So we decided to give it a try. So glad we did! Delicious menudo for me, with plenty of onions and cilantro, some delicious tacos for my son and delicious ceviche and shrimp tostada's for my wife. All topped off with a delicious horchata. We were so glad we found it. The only problem is, I had diarreah after eating the menudo. I'd still give it one more shot, it was so delicious, but if it happened again, that would be it. read more

Very good food, quality ingredients and process. This is not a general side of refried beans, Spanish rice, lettuce, etc and an entree made with the same ingredients, the flavor is awesome. We had a chimichanga, Gordita, and birria tacos and then bought dinner to go. Some very nice young kids waiting tables as well. ordered 2 meals one was suppose to be Shrimp , rice and beans. When the meal came it was swimming in clear type oil with onions all over it saturated in oil. The shrimp were served with the black poo vein still in them and had not even been cleaned. I was expecting shrimp sauted in a little butter not the mess that was served. I sent the meal back to the kitchen . I reordered only a taco with chicken to at least get something to eat . my husband ate his meal of carne asada that looked like the meat had been precooked and heated up. We were charged for the meal that was sent back uneaten and the waitress said they do not take food off the bill even if the customer sends it back. I had water he had a mineral water the bill was over $60 .We have never had such a bad experience at a restaurant not taking responsibility for taking back a meal that was not prepared correctly and then charging for it too. Stopped in for lunch with a friend. Very nice decor while also feeling very "hole in the wall." Service was attentive and the kitchen seemed in good spirits. The food was very good. I had the fish taco and it had a good mix of sweet mango and spicy kick. The rice was almost sweet. The beginning chips were warmed and salsa was just spicy enough without being too much. What an amazing place with delicious food, great staff and cute little place. Los Habaneros is a place you probably wouldn't see passing by, as their location is rather "hidden" and their signs don't really pop out to an eye; you really have to look for it and I hope owners would upgrade them for more business they deserve. I've randomly stumbled upon this place place as I've been trying to find a Mexican restaurant that isn't big, yet has everything you'd expect from it. Found it on Google and decided to give it a shot and got hooked ever since. My review may be biased because 99% of a time I get the same food (quesadillas with chicken and steak mixed together. Seriously, try it!), but from what my girlfriend tried and my friend that I took with me before, everyone had a great expletive and enjoy their food. Each time I've been there, food was always A+. Very fresh, full of ingredients and deliciousness. Los Habaneros don't fuck around and it shows! PS: as of recently they started serving beers and cocktails, so enjoy! read more

Found this gem courtesy of a FB group. I've been there twice nice within the past week. Quesabirria tacos were a little sweeter than I'm used to, but solid! Got some pupusas--thick and full of yummy deliciousness! Came back a week later with my son who was visiting from out of town. He got the ceviche and really liked it, but he loved the michelada! I got the taco salad--filled with tons of stuff! Carnitas were good, but could be a little more seasoned. Use the green salsa--made it perfect! Taco shell could be crispier, a bit chewy. Their chips and salsa are delicious! Light, tender chips, salsa with flavor but not too hot. Our other company got the carne asada chimichanga and loved it. I'll be back and bringing all of my out of town visitors. Next I'll try the menudo--seems pretty pricey, but if it's as big as that salad and as tasty as everything else, seems like it will be worth it! read more

Visiting family and came across this place on Yelp so we thought we'd give it a shot! Got the Pescado and Birria House Special tacos along with a few street tacos and beans and chips. Loved everything. The bean dip was a little runnier than I'm used to but the flavor was delicious. The woman that helped was great and gave me some recommendations when I asked and were very happy with them! Will definitely be coming back to try more items next time I'm in town! The only con was I knew where I was going and it was still hard to find. Everything else in the buildings by it have big signs at the top of their place and here it's just on a window so it was a bit hard to find. But I know where to go now! read more

This place is just a little different than most. It's a order at the counter, find a table, and then they bring you a higher quality meal than what you might be expecting. First things first... LH is situated just a couple of doors down from Mac Daddys. I mention this because there is no sign on the building or even on the front door as to what it is. Inside there are several tables/chairs and no booths. It's a bit sparse but they do have a rather large tv that was playing one of the more recent Marvel movies. There are menus shown here on Yelp and they hand those to you at the counter. There are many more choices however, and those are on the board behind the counter. We went with chorizo nachos minus onions and chicken flautas. For the nachos they put the pico de gallo on the side as it had onions and then they topped the nachos off with fresh made guacamole sans onions, which they just did to make a happy customer. Nice touch. I was hungry and thought I could put away any nachos on this evening. Not so much. They were very large and filled throughout with meat, cheese, and fixings. The meat was clearly very fresh and seasoned perfectly. I am told the same went for the flautas. Noticeably fresh and tasty meat in a perfectly crisped wrapper. Seriously good food. Drinks are by bottle only, including water. They did give us a cup of ice to go along but it would be nice to have refillable soda or at the very least a self serve water station so you didn't have to purchase another bottle every 12oz. Pricing is also a bit steep for a non-sit down service stop. Our meal set us back about $35. Just because the food quality is so high, we'll defiantly be back for more. Mary and I stopped in here for the first time, for dinner last night. The establishment is clean and bright; friendly, helpful staff at the counter. Mary ordered the fish taco, and I had the beef tortas; grilled French bread filled with beef, beans, mayo, melted cheese, tomatoes, onions, and avacado, this sandwich was delicous as was the fish taco.
