She gave us recommendations & he went with one of hers. I got the Knob Hill, grilled onions, special sauce on a parm encrusted sourdough bread. The meat was good as directed but overall the entire burger was bland. My BF Jalapeño Popper burger was really good; spicy & sweet combo. We opted for the 3 combo sides for $13 (tots, sweet potato fries & 3 rings) as most of the sides range from $5-8 for one option. Tots were the best, fries overcooked & mixed opinion of the rings. I'm updating my review to take away a star. When we first started going the gluten-free bun (that I have to get because I have celiac), was always good and the hamburgers were excellent. We raved about the restaurant to my parents, my mother has celiac as well. We brought them in last month and the gluten-free bun seemed stale on both of our hamburgers and just overly thick and just not good. I thought it was just a one time thing and my husband and I went tonight and it was the same problem. So I don't know if they got new gluten-free buns but for the amount they're charging for these hamburgers they need to go back to the one they had, or do whatever they were doing with them before. Maybe in the past they had buttered and toasted them on the grill?? That will make gluten-free taste better because the bun tonight was absolutely horrible and it ruined the experience and the hamburger was rather dry as well. We stopped in for dinner during happy hour and tried the pickle fries and cheese bites (can't remember the exact name, but they were tasty!). For mains, we ordered the Juicy Lucy and the Wagyu Go Burger and split them. Personally, I preferred the Wagyu, still heavy and greasy as expected at a burger place, but flavorful. The Juicy Lucy was too much for me; it was loaded with mayo and cheese, and I couldn't eat more than a bite. We also got the side combo with sweet potato fries, truffle fries, and onion rings, fresh and crispy, but a lot of fried food overall. The service was great, and the restaurant had a nice vibe. BRGR has been open in this location for a long time now, and up until recently I had only been once or twice long ago. The first time I visited this location years ago was with friends, back when we were all in our 20s or early 30s and without children. I remember liking it, but not loving it. It was a place that we went to from time to time but I didn't ever crave. Flash forward and BRGR has done something I think is hard to do: they have gotten better with age. Now, I'm not sure if it's that BRGR has changed any of their recipes, or ambiance, or even anything at all, or if it's that I've changed. I'm guessing it's the latter, as I've now been to BRGR two times within the past three months and it's largely because I have kids and the food is actually really good. The first time I went back to BRGR recently was in December. My older daughter and I had a date with my cousin and her daughter to go see Glow Wild at the Zoo and my cousin recommended we stop here for an early dinner first. It seemed like a solid choice since my four year old LOVES burgers and I hadn't been in a while. We arrived, they seated us, and immediately I fell in love all over again with BRGR. First of all, something I never noticed in my twenties was how family friendly it is. They have booster seats, infant car seat holders, the whole nine yards. The restrooms even have stools for little ones so they can reach the sink - in my daughter's mind this is the best thing ever, and I love it too because it saves me from having to awkwardly hold her up so she can wash. Something else worth noting is that I realized quickly that when you dine here before, say 7pm, the whole place is FILLED with families. For good reason too because aside from all the perks I've already mentioned, they have a great kids meal. I think it's around 8 dollars and your kiddo gets a burger, fries, and a drink. I mean, come on, you can't beat that. To add on to all of this, both times I've been back my food has been on point, and they have a great taplist. All in all, I think BRGR is a top notch place you can go and still support local, while wanting a meal out with your young family. KC needs more places like this that blur the boundaries between a meal out, and feeling okay bringing the kids along. read more

Pretty pricey for what you get, in my opinion. Happy hour deviled eggs were lackluster. Brussels sprouts were different and decent, never had blue cheese with them, nice addition to the taste buds. 5+ stars for our server Beckham. He was so kind and working super hard the whole time. He was put in a situation of having three tables all sat at the same time which is hard for any server but he navigated it well and was an awesome server. 3 stars for the others on staff that set up our server to be in a difficult situation while they all stood by the door chatting and not providing any assistance. 5 stars for the food as it was great as always and the smashburger is delicious. All in all I would have given them 5 stars if there was better effort from the other staff but moved it to 4 because I felt like our server was set up to provide bad service but he navigated it very well and I would return to be served by Beckham again. read more

The last time we went my favorite thing from their kitchen, truffle fries, had an old fry texture even though they were warm like they just came from the oven. I came in the other day to check out the new Oktoberfest menu and beer options. The Samual Adams seasonal beer (octoberfest) was the perfect fall brew in my opinion. BRGR has some amazing deals going on for Oktoberfest that include $10 flights!!! Why choose one seasonal beer when yo can try them all! Went to their patio with a friend on a Monday to check out their new fall menu. It wasn't crowded at all and we were seated pretty fast. The staff was really personable and was always checking in on us. They had a large selection of beers, including seasonal beers for fall. I had a brat on a pretzel bun with pickled onions, it was delicious! The patio was large and had live music. They had strong lights and heaters on the patio and a huge window that opened to the bar. The food was delicious. The steakhouse burger was amazing. The truffle tots and perfectly garlicky seasoned onion rings with their "special sauce" were wonderful and largely portioned. My toddlers ate everything which is rare and they ended it with fancy ice cream with cookie crumbles and m and m's. This is random, but they even have stools in the bathroom for kids! This was my first time at this location. I went with a group of 5 for lunch. We did not have to wait for a table and service was quick to get our drinks and take orders. The space was not overly loud so we were easily able to hear each other. The sweet potato fries were great. They are a large portion so I do recommend sharing. The funky chicken Sandwich was good, though I did remove a lot of the shredded lettuce. I don't think that the design of the tables were great as their was crumb and old food buildup stuck in the crack of the table. Overall everything was good but I do think that it is overpriced for what you get. I would not go out of my way to go here again. read more

I had a craving for french fries and this place popped up. I needed a little bedtime snack. Only 3 other customers were here on Saturday at 9:30pm, the KU game was on. I ordered the wings, truffle fries and a Lavender Lemonade. all was good except for the $ 10 drink that was full of ice, a few sips and it was done. Most places I go to measure the portion out then add ice, they fill the glass with ice to minimize the liquid. Then I mentioned I didn't taste the lavender and he had to bring out a tub of syrup, which means I got the last of what was in the container, which probably wasn't much, hence the lack of taste. Our son takes weekly lesson nearby so we order carry out and dine in a lot, and our order has been wrong 100% of the time for a year. I had the steakhouse burger, my husband had the jalapeño popper one- they were both yummy! My steakhouse patty was probably one of the best burgers we have in town: the patty was juicy and the perfect amount of thin and crispy! We tried the sweet potato, regular and truffle fries- all of them were yummy! Service was great- we went without a reservation or call ahead and were lucky enough to get immediate seating for 8-9 people- staff were welcoming, quick and efficient! I have never had a bad burger at BRGR. Your mileage may vary, but I have been fortunate. I have a goal to try each of the burgers on the regular menu at least once, but their seasonal offerings are usually so tempting I often get one of those. Most recently I tried the Gonzo, a hatch green chile burger with roasted bacon and scallion aioli, chopped candied bacon, and a jalapeño bun. Delightful. The fries, the tots, the o-rings are all very good. The squeaky cheese and pickle fries are also awesome. The service is typically competent and efficient. It's a great spot for date night when we want to feel like we went somewhere a little bit more upscale than our usual divey burger place. read more

Any place that you can create your own mac and cheese is going to get five stars in my book. Unless, of course, the mac and cheese is no good. But that was NOT the case here. Many that I know have had their burgers before and have loved them. For me, the mac and cheese with mushrooms and onions lives in my dreams. The waitress was super nice and even moved us when the group of early twenty-somethings that had bathed in cologne arrived (seriously smelled like one of them broke the bottle on their head). One entire side of the restaurant was reserved for a private party so there was not a lot of open seating. Overall it was fine. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Everything about the meal was great. Fantastic service, ice cold beer, and a comfortable, casual vibe. But OMG the burger!! Outstanding. My husband and I tried the jalapeño popper burger and the gonzo. The burgers were juicy and the toppings were perfect. Sometimes a place can go over-the-top with their burger accoutrements, but these had just the right amount. The flavors were balanced and didn't overwhelm the burger itself. We also shared some squeaky cheese and a combo of truffle fries, tots, and onion rings. All of that was yummy, but the burgers were definitely the stars of the show. We can't wait to go back and work our way through the menu. All of the burgers looked delicious and even the salads sounded yummy! Not that I'll ever find out. Not with burgers like that. Sadly, my experiences here have been pretty lackluster since my original review. When the food is made correctly it's very good but half the time that isn't the case. The waitstaff and management aren't super friendly most of the time, either. Sadly the wonderful waitress I had when I wrote my first review left a long time ago. I've given this location so many chances because I'm so appreciative that their menu offers gluten free options, and it's also very close to home. I've delayed updating this review because I hate to leave a poor review anywhere during a pandemic. That being said, they've had over a year and numerous visits from me in that time to make a better impression. My girlfriend wanted to take me out to dinner and I decided to come here because I had a taste for burgers. The burgers were okay but wasn't my favorite part of the dinner unfortunately. I had the knob hill burger and the bread was way bigger than the meat which I didn't care to much for. The fries and drinks were amazing which was best part of the dinner. You do have to order fries separately due to it not coming with the burger. My girlfriend ordered the mushroom burger and for the size of the burger, I don't think it was worth the price of it. The family came here for dinner tonight. Our party was 4 adults and 1 toddler. We called ahead to get our name on the waitlist. They don't take reservations but they do an open table type thing, where you can be put on a waitlist. When we arrived we only had to wait a couple of minutes for the hostess to get a high chair. It was pretty packed inside and the tables are kind of close together, but we managed. Our waiter was really nice, very tall, super attractive. Haha not important. Anyway, we ordered right away and the food came out sooner enough. Each was made how we liked it. Our table ordered these burgers: Number 3 BRGR BRGR w/o cheese New BRGR no pickles Chicken Tenders w.
