So, I don't tend to write a lot of negative reviews, but I had such a poor experience here that I feel compelled to comment. I went in by myself on a Thursday evening, as I was in Lubbock (and at TTU) for work meetings, and sat at the bar for a beer and dinner. Three employees -- servers and bartenders -- were working the place, as it was summer and school wasn't yet in session, so while most tables were filled, the bar had empty seats and a couple of tables were still empty. TEN MINUTES I sat at the bar before I was even acknowledged, and that was because the two guys next to me, who'd been there at least that long themselves, finally asked for menus, and so I said, "I'd like one, too." The guy got me a menu and I decided on what to order. Set the menu down, and another 5+ minutes went by while the servers dealt with other tables and even other customers at the bar. Now, we are 15+ minutes in, and finally the guy who got me the menu asked if I wanted something to drink. I ordered a beer, where he could have TURNED AROUND to enter it in the register and pour it from the tap, but he went to another table and I didn't see him again for another 5 or so minutes. At that point, I'd had enough, and I left. I would have enjoyed trying the pizza and enjoying a beer there. The place had a cool vibe and the food looked and smelled good, from what I could see from neighbors. But the dismissive attitude of the staff who must actually have looked THROUGH me (I was at the very center of the bar and I'm pretty sure I'm not transparent) and having been ignored for about 20 minutes was enough. Went down the road to Flippers Tavern and had a wonderful experience there! Sorry, but if you can't even acknowledge your customers when you're busy but not slammed, you don't deserve my business. Maybe it's because I'm an Old Dude and not a young hipster or college student, but it was disappointing and frustrating. Bottom line: skip this place, especially if you're over 35 or so. read more

I've been to Atomic twice in my life. Both times were impeccable. I'm not sure I have a single complaint. The service and staff make you feel welcome, they're friendly, quick - all the things you could ask for to enhance your experience. They offer it. The location is nice if you're anywhere near the Tech campus area. It's right on Broadway. Parking can be tough if it's busy. There is street parking and a lot, but neither are the most plentiful. The food is the real star though. Their wings are incredible, and they don't mess around with the spice. They can be hot! I love the jalapeño poppers. Where else gives you a real popper and not just a frozen and deep fried version? As for the pizza...I'm pleased to say it's the best part of an already awesome place. It doesn't matter what kind you get, you'll be happy with your choice. The Last Call Pizza deserves it's own paragraph. I think I can confidently say it's my favorite pizza of all time. And the second time I had it, confirmed just that. Look at this description - "Homemade smoky pizza sauce and alfredo sauce, topped with cheese, bacon, sausage, sunny-side-up eggs, and drizzled with our sriracha sauce". It's INCREDIBLE! I've come back 3 times since my last review... it's kind of a problem. Service overall is still pretty good... a little inconsistent during busy times but overall solid. I did a take out order and the guy on the phone was really great. I finally branched out and tried the Wook and the QT pie and the cheesy bread. All are solid. The wook is probably my least favorite due to the huge pieces of brie on top but that's because I don't care for brie all that much. Red onions was a nice touch and the chiles are good. QT pie is also not bad but nothing super special. Mexican bingo is still my favorite. read more

Service was pretty slow and it's nice inside but can get quite loud on weekends (they turn into a bar later in the night). The crust was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The flavors on the pizza actually worked well but I think it had a little too much going on. The taste was good but they could have lost the Brie or make the pieces smaller. We wanted a delicious dinner that included a salad on our 2 day drive from CO to Rockport, TX. Yelp reviews for this place were pretty solid so we decided pizza and salad would be great. My husband thought the fact that the Bronco game was on made it a 5 star place automatically. And if it wasn't for the bathroom situation I would give it 5 stars. After driving for hours, our first stop once at the restaurant was the bathroom. A huge plus that they are gender neutral and a big minus that both of us went to the bathroom and they both had issues. One had a clogged sink, the other an overflowing sink and a clogged toilet. Now moving on to the food and drink! We ordered the Roni personal sized pizza and the Italian salad with no onions. The basil was like eating a salad from the garden in fall and the dressing was complimentary rather than overbearing which was a nice surprise! And the pizza, FIRE! The crust was perfectly cooked, a bit of leaparding from the fire but none of the burnt that often happens with wood-fires pizza. It was chewy and delicious! The pepperoni was cupped to perfection and it was a great meal to make the last leg to our hotel another hour down the road. As for the wine, I'm not picky so when they said they only had canned Im wine, bring it on I said. I've been in the car since 9:45 this morning! And it was a sun-par red wine. I've had canned wine that is bold and tasty. This one was not. It was wimpy. I would definitely come back for the food and service. They staff was so friendly and checked on us regularly. We were in town for a college tour and a client of mine recommended this pizza place. We stopped in on our way out of town and were pleasantly surprised by how good the pizza was. The Italian salad was simply but yummy. The only thing I would recommend is to cut the salad up more into bite size pieces, without a knife it was hard to shovel into our faces without making a big mess. So far this is the best pizza I have had in Lubbock. Atomic Lounge & Pizza Kitchen is on to something here. They have a GREAT Location and some tasty pie too. I ordered the QT 3.14 and have to admit that it took me a few extra seconds to make the connection, with the witty pizza name. Ha ha ha, it was their take on a margarita pizza. The pizza was served piping hot, with a nice NY style crust, with a wood-fire kiss. The basil was fresh, the dough was not over-seasoned and the mozzarella had a nice flavor. Extra points for the gender neutral restrooms. Each restroom is private and has a lock on the door. And a shout out on the decor/design of the space. My one word to describe Atomic pizza, Clutch! We stopped in for lunch one day, not knowing what to expect. It had just opened, so we were the only people in the place. It is a college town, so after what I'm sure was a night out for the students the floor was a little sticky, and the place smelled like a college bar, but the food and service were really good. All things considered, this is probably the best pizzeria in Lubbock. I can't find any fault with the pie itself. The crust is kind of bubbly and airy, which reminds me of the old Shakey's crust. The proportion of cheese, sauce and toppings is correct--in other words, there's plenty of sauce and they don't dump an entire dairy on the pizza. The sauce, by the way, is excellent. Nice and tangy, not sweet. And they cook their pies thoroughly, so you'll get a bit of char on the crust. Their wings are also excellent. Atmosphere is pleasant. Plenty of TV screens, but they're positioned in such a way that you don't have to look at them. And the country music they play is much better than the garbage that's been coming out of Nashville the last 30 years. No complaints on service. Tech kids, but they're well chosen for competence, courteousness, and don't seem to be brandishing the now de rigeur tatts and piercings. Also, Atomic is good value. For the quality of the overall experience, you get more than you pay for. My only criticism is i would like to see a few more traditional ingredients on offer and more of a build-your-own-pie component to the menu. As is, I just get a pepperoni-and-Hatch pizza with the smokey sauce, and it's an excellent pie. Overall, this is a fine joint, and I'd like to see more folks check it out. read more

The pizza did take a while to come out but the taste had nice dimension and seasoning. I like that they have chicken Italian sausage pepperoni and other toppings along with fresh mozzarella and brussel sprouts on their menu. They also have nice vegetarian options as well. It is cool for a bar to offer such a unique flavor profile for different menu items. I would recommend this place to others. Ok, I was a skeptic because it's close to the college, and every college kid loves pizza. But then I tried it. OMG this is some of the most consistently amazing pizza I've ever had. We got the Meat Blimp, Last Call, and the Black and Red. All of them were so good. And I honestly don't know how anyone can eat more than a personal size, but oof. These pizzas were magnificent. The quality of both was excellent. The pizza was both chewy and crisp - so perfect. The salad was delicious and enough for several servings and great for sharing at the table.
