I can't say enough about this tattoo shop. My son and I had both had work done there. My piece was small and it turned out exactly how I wanted it to look. Brad did a fantastic job. My son's piece was much more intricate and was done by Paolo. It looks absolutely amazing. The shading and detail came out beautifully. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that's looking to have work done. The shop was conveniently located and was very clean. The entire staff was friendly. You won't be disappointed with Atomic Tattoo. UPDATE 4/27/19: If you go to Atomic Tattoo, I strongly advise against scheduling an appointment with Paolo. I had an appointment set with him at noon today at the 183 location. I had a feeling yesterday that I should text him to confirm the time. It was a good thing that I did because not only did he change the previously agreed upon appointment time, he also changed shop locations since I had last spoken to him. I don't know if he would've even bothered to let me know had I not texted. I agreed to drive to the further away location for a 2:00 appointment this afternoon. I arrived at the shop on time and waited for Paolo. At 2:15 I received a text letting me know he was late but on his way. One of the shop employees proceeded to let me know it was because Paolo overslept. I was frustrated but didn't want to leave because I was there to get my son an 18th birthday tattoo that he's been wanting for years. Today was finally the big day! We couldn't wait so I was more than willing to hang out a bit and wait for Paolo. Coming up on 3:00 I finally texted him to see how much further away he was. I was told it would be another 15 minutes for him to even get there and then he'd need to do an hour of prep work on the art work before he'd be able to even see us. We met with him two weeks ago to discuss tattoo design and placement so you would think he'd be prepared and ready to go with a drawing when we got there. Sadly, that wasn't the case. I wouldn't have even minded too much if he was there on time and had to do some final adjustments to the artwork once my son had a chance to look at what he had come up with for us. He's disorganized and unprofessional. Paolo will waste your time. My son was hugely disappointed. I lost my $50 deposit. I will not be going back to Atomic Tattoo. read more

I went here spontaneously, as it is right down the road from my gym. Was able to score a walk in with Paulo, who was extremely welcoming and friendly. He got my tattoo done perfectly, and sent me on my way. Fast forward two weeks or so, I go in for my touch up. He adds some more color at my request, cleans up the lines, and brought my dorky little cartoon guy to life. I really like the atmosphere of the place as well, pool table in the middle, very laid back. I was nervous to sporadically go and get a tattoo, as I typically research my artist and spend probably too much time debating on the tattoo itself. I got very lucky to have gotten Paulo, and was glad to have chosen this shop. I've recommended it already to my friends, and am in the process of deciding my next tattoo to get there! read more

As far as im concerned, i came in a stack of $100s farrrrr more than what i told him. I wasnt there to do a thirty minute tattoo, im getting sleeves on both arms. Me and two friends came to this location to get matching tattoos. My friend and I were tattooed by the same artist, while my other friend was tattooed by a different artist. The artist who tattooed both me and my friend was very heavy-handed, and we noticed almost immediately that the tattoos were infected. The friend who was tattooed by another artist, her tattoo has already healed. I am left now with a blown out tattoo that is still trying to heal and severely scabbed over a week later. I went in on Friday for a tattoo. I have several already but I haven't gotten any here in Austin. I was a little nervous because I really didn't know the artists too well, being new to town. I went in last week for a consultation and talked with Cody and Dylan about what I wanted. I made my appointment and Cody did an amazing job on a full color watercolor tattoo for me. He worked quickly but checked to see if I needed any breaks and kept consulting me during the process because there was a bit of free hand involved. I went in a week before my 1 year wedding anniversary looking for someone to do a tattoo for my wife. Upon entry I was immediately greeted and asked what I was looking for. After showing the artist what my wife wanted (a large Phoenix on the forearm in color), he immediately referred me to another artist there that excels at the style we were looking for. The new artist's name was Luci. She was in the middle of eating but stopped mid bit to help me out. She listened to what I wanted and said she would need to draw it up first, but assured me it was within her skillset. The deposit for the drawing and appointment reservation was a lot lower than other artists I have had, she only required $50. After my wife heard I had reserved only a spot for her tattoo, she insisted I come back and get a tattoo I had been wanting (a samurai standing before a full moon with cherry blossoms). Luci was willing to work me in the day after my wife's appointment the following weekend (it was my anniversary after all) even though my tattoo was much more detailed. Luci was able and willing to work with our last minute adjustments to the design we wanted. (We are picky, sorry not sorry). She was also able to freehand modifications in so as to work around existing work. Luci is an incredibly talented artist; it left me in awe how easily she can make the art spring to life. She did take time and care while working on my wife and I. Her quoted rate never changed, even though she did spend more time with the details than what we paid for. Her work was everything we wanted. Also worth noting... she is very light handed and did not scar us at all. That is very important to me. The only downside to coming here, is now I feel spoilt. This shop was so accommodating and cool to get work done in, I can't imagine going anywhere else. I have already scheduled another visit for next week. (It is my birthday after all.) Super excited! Shank did my second set of ear piercings and I have to say she was AMAZING. After nearly passing out just due to my uneasiness with needles, she was quick to help me feel better and get me relaxed! Update 2: Correction, I never went to an artist in Killeen and no I'm not going back to the same artist I never once stated that. I said that I went to a guy in Arlington and well yes he didn't do a great job he also didn't do something completely different without talking to me first. I also said that I was going to see a new person in Waco where I currently live so I'm not sure where the miscommunication was from that. I have been nothing but patient and respectful during this entire process but I have felt like I've been completely walked over during this experience and my review has been nothing but truthful if anything seemed harsh it was because of the experience that I went through and I won't apologize for that. I've also tried getting in contact multiple times without any response to the point where I had to block my number just to get one of the owners to pick up. I never once stated that my original artist did a good job but it was also up to your artist to complete it in the way that I wanted and do it well which neither was done. I'm sorry if my experience being posted offends you but it offended me being the paying customer with something permanent on my back. I was also the one that reached out to y'all, never contacted by y'all first, but okay? My original work also had two year of healing and sun exposure so it was lighter than the photo I had shown of the work done from the first artist, and there was only about 40% of the color than what Mark put, on top of which he over colored the already colored area, even the THIRD COMPLETELY SEPARATE ARTIST SAID SO AFTER LOOKING AT ALL PHOTOS. Also ironic you trying to claim I'm "extorting" for a refund when we were literally extorted for a cheap mirror that we didn't even break. But hey, what can you expect from a shady business? I have only ever stated I would update my review as things were handled, since it took forever only for them to go back on their word of giving me a partial refund. Here's pictures of the correspondence on my end. I blacked out personal info for their privacy and mine. We only spoke on the phone twice. Once on the first after trying to reach the owner via text, and then again on the 8th. I was told on the 8th he would be sending out my check THAT week. Followed back up multiple days in a row leaving voicemails each time with no response, so I finally *67 where he answered after TWO RINGS. I asked for an update since it had been a week of waiting and he said I would get it on their pay day the 23rd, weird since I'm not an employee and it should've been handled a lot sooner than a month, but I said ok that's fine will there be a tracking number? He said no. Why not cover your rear and just get a tracking number so I don't have to call for a follow up? Anyways, I posted how slow the process was going and only wrote my honest experience, freedom of speech and whatnot, but they then decided to tell me on here that they wouldn't be issuing my refund after all since I updated my review. First of all why wouldn't I update people on how things are being handled, maybe they wouldn't have felt threatened if they had done things sooner because in all honesty it only would've helped them to show people that they were in the process of making it right. On top of that they DID NOT EVEN PERSONALLY REACH OUT TO TELL ME THIS. Get this, Mark didn't even ask me to show him the picture again and barely spoke to me the entire time of my second reservation. He also KNEW I NEVER HAD USED SANIDERM AND DID NOT INSTRUCT ME HOW LONG TO LEAVE IT ON OR HOW TO TAKE IT OFF. While I understand yeah he's not a dermatologist and he doesn't understand that dry skin and adhesive for several days don't mix he also should have as a professional explained to me how to use Saniderm so that my skin wouldn't get flaky and dried out from leaving it on too long. Which wouldn't have happened had I not had to try and do my own research online which isn't always the most reliable. I've only been stating facts this whole time and trying to be as patient as possible but this whole situation has been so backwards and unprofessional. They claim to have a ton of happy customers and while that might be true they also have a ton of unhappy potential customers that ended up leaving them and going to somebody else because of some thing they did or said. You can also see that I never said I was going to leave a one star review until I got my refund I just said that I would be updating the process of which things were being handled. I never "extorted" as they like to claim. I was actually trying to benefit them by letting people know that they were in the process of handling my awful experience while also explaining that it was taking a long time as well because that also doesn't add to my horrible experience. read more

This place has way more than 3 reviews as listed above and way more than just one from 2010, 2011, and 2012. Obviously, its still open and gets business so they must be doing something right. Make sure you scroll down to the bottom and look for reviews that Yelp "doesn't recommend". I'm honestly baffled. I have no idea why it would be like this. Yelp says it is "recommendation software"that does this. Yet, once this "software" decides it is not a "good review" it can no longer be recommended by US the reviewers. I just don't get it. I came in for a simple 3 letter tatt. I called ahead to see if they would be able to accomodate my request within 15 minutes with no issue. Looks like there was a cancellation/potential no show, so they asked me to come in. I arrived within 10 minutes, and apparently the grossly belated appointment arrived. Needless to say they asked I wait an additional 2 hours. The only reason they aren't receiving 1 star is because the place looks clean. Tattoo shop or not... professionalism and customer service are quintessential to any business. I was recently went in and saw Brad Schlinke at the 183 location. I went in with artwork and had a short wait before he was free to go over my design. I was looking for a person with an extremely steady hand to do an intricate design. We talked about possible changes so that the design would better fit my arm and I left with a quote and an appointment to have the work done. Just a few short days later, I went in and received one of the best tattoos that I have ever had. I use to work in healthcare, so I pay attention during all invasive procedures. He went to wash his hands before starting to set up and came back smelling like he took a bath in antibacterial soap [a great first impression in my book ;-) ] He then cleaned and covered both his work space and the stand my arm would be resting on before setting up. Brad followed safe practice guidelines by using either disposable or autoclaved tools, as well as new disposable items. I am completely satisfied with his work and would definitely track him don to do any future work. read more

So bout two weeks ago I got my first tattoo at this joint. I was super nervous and kinda scared that the artist was gonna screw it up. So anyways, I get there, I go in and it looks pretty legit inside. The guys working were super chill, especially Travis (my artist). So I do the paperwork and what not and he explains everything and basically begins to do it. 30-45 mins later he's done! I didn't really feel much and the design was amazing!! Travis did an amazing job! THANKS DUDE!! I highly recommend this place to get a tattoo. Ask for Travis, he's awesome and super nice! I'm actually going in a week or two to get my second with him!! He did an okay job with the snake behind my ear but totally miss spelled my tattoo in Roman numerals on my chest. I hadn't realized until I left. Just came in the other day. Walked in and right off the bat the male artists came off extremely arrogant. I'm annoyed I didn't catch my artist's name because he was a complete butthole. He was so anal and judgemental saying things along the lines of " This won't even matter because you'll end up covering it up... You probably want it as bland as possible huh." ... etc. If you're going to make clients uncomfortable and upset because YOU don't want to tattoo something of your liking or lack of complexity DON'T BE AN ARTIST. He was so bitter and annoyed for no reason.. It's so embarrassing for him. All he had to do was tattoo the number 11 on my wrist but he was clearly so upset that he had to tattoo something so "basic", AND YET my tattoo is honestly MID. (I will say my friends Artist who's name is Ollie, was that absolute sweetest girl I've met. Shout out to her.) Won't be going there ever again though. My sister and I came in yesterday to get some tattoos. It was my first and her second. Needless to say I was scared shitless. Right when we entered it was a welcoming environment. The artists where joking around with us as if we were old friends. Immediately I felt a lot less nervous. My tattoo came out exactly as I had hoped for, Alex did a wonderful job of making us feel comfortable and did an amazing job on our tattoos. Ok I'm not going to name names, but N 183 location here in Austin leaves much to be desired.  Here is why:   I grew up here but hey, its ACL so you gotta expect more folks in town.  As a business you expect it.  If you can manage not to be too grumpypants about it you might even make some money with it and also gain a few new clients.  Went by yesterday to see about a little arm cuff/band around my sisters forearm.  Reception by main guy was warm but he was done for the day.  From then on grab your sweater cuz it was frostville.  The two artists we spoke to looked like we had just barfed on their counter when we asked if anyone was available that day or the next day anytime.  Sis lives in another state so she was looking to get a travel tatt.  I actually referred her to atomic.  Never doing that again.  The young lady tatt artist we spoke to said " ew..I hate doing arm bands.  your arm is like... a cylinder and its really hard"   oh my.  well hells bells junior then by all means you don't need to be attempting it.  All the while she looked at us like we had just farted in her corolla.  Bad deal.  The story ended well, we made a lifelong tatt friend he was up to the "cylinder challenge"  he did it today in under two hours and its beautiful.   Go see Shaman Tattoo and not only are they happy to see you but they are super skilled read more
