He helped me get the information I needed to make an informed decision. Dave came by my house to provide the estimate for the job (Attic cleaning, rodent proofing, insulation replacement, and duct cleaning). He was very approachable and never did I feel like he was trying to sell me something. He was very professional and gave advice to me straight. Finally, Omid who came with his crew to carry out the work were timely, nice, and friendly people. Due to certain field conditions and unforeseen circumstances, Omid recommended against duct cleaning and showed me pictures of my rusted out ducts! This was in order to prevent further damage to the ducts by using the cleaning machine. I took his advice and Attic Star went the extra mile to ensure that I was fairly compensated since duct cleaning was removed from scope (Thanks again, Chuck) All in all, I would highly recommend these guys. My daughter and son-in laws recently moved into a new acquired home and Attic Star just finished a big job for them. Attic Star removed asbestos, replaced 16 old vent ducts with new aluminum ducting, new R38 rolled insulation in the ceiling and ceiling walls and rodent proofing. From a past experience don't get blown insulation. From start to finish I couldn't be more pleased with the work they did for us. I got 3 quotes including a big outfit. I picked Attic Star as one of the potential bidders on the job because they did a similar job for my other son in law and they were extremely pleased with the work. Their salesperson Eli was outstanding. He did a superb job of explaining what he was doing. He didn't pressure me to make a decision. In fact, he suggested I obtain further quotes to confirm that I had asbestos which increased the scope of the job significantly. Through out the process, he wanted to work with me including my pricing concerns. Asbestos removal occurred efficiently. The project team showed up on time and took a little longer (1 day) but they explained their rationale to me. Once again very efficient and clean job since they taped the entire house off. 2 problems arose. First, they inadvertantly cut an electrical code to the air conditioner and the outdoor crawl space was gutted because of access problems. In both instances, their project manager acknowledged both issues immediately and said repairs would be completed on specific dates. In both instances, the repairs were completed on the days agreed to by me and their team. Their handyman was simply outstanding. He created a redwood wooden box outside of the crawl space which was a 100% better than what was their before. On his way out he noticed 2 steel anchors coming out of the cement as part of an old arbor that was recently removed. Hmmm... that's dangerous so we got out his saw and removed this anchors. Great job! All in all from the sales team to the project team and handy man services, I couldn't be more pleased. I would wholeheartedly recommend Attic Star for their honesty, hard work and follow-through---Superb job! read more

BEWARE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND VERY RUDE! Zero Customer service skills. I fixed an appointment for duct insulation inspection between 12noon and 2pm, and informed them that I have a hard stop at 2pm and it will be good if they can finish the inspection by then. On the appointment day I had a doctor appointment at 11.30 so I expected I might be little late and informed them if they can come by 12.30 and I am okay if the inspection exceeds little later the 2pm. The technician called me that he is running late and he will be around 12.50 pm.., I said that's ok so that I should be at home by then and I was at home by 12.50pm. But he came in earlier and called me and left. Since I was on call with doctor I missed the call. When I called them again to see if they are still near by. The guy called Chuck on the phone, who scheduled my appointment was so rude to me and don't have any soft skills what so ever and yelling non-stop and didn't give any chance to talk and give any explanation. Even if it is my mistake there is a way to talk and express it! The guy on the phone is just yelling non stop. Update: Ok your owner called me and apologized, for your behavior and asked me to remove the review and tried offer a free service and amazon gift card for removing this review. BEWARE! Attic star is not a licensed contractor. They have no lability insurance and they are not listed under the California State Board of Licensed Contractors! They tried to send me a fake copy of there liability insurance but gave me a bogus address and policy number. I received quotes from two other companies before selecting with Attic Star. Ron came out a week ago for a consultation and quote. He was honest, knowledgeable, and thorough. The price he gave was within my budget for a 2,000 square foot home and scheduled for the work to be completed in less than a week. Sean and his 4-man crew arrived on time. Similar to Ron, Sean was very efficient, clean, and thorough - prior to the start of the work they laid plastic coverings so my hard wood floors and furniture did not get scratched or dirty. He even identified and fixed key areas where I could potentially have a pest problem that two Orkin employees missed the prior two weeks. Other than the noise from the equipment, the crew worked quietly throughout the entire project. They cleaned and disinfected my attic and crawl spaces prior to laying out the new insulation. These guys are cowboys who don't know the building code. They will happily stuff your unventilated attic with fiberglass for a reasonable price. They are polite and efficient. And your entire roof assembly will rot in about 30 years and you will have to scrape it all off and rebuild it entirely including the studs. BTW, they strong arm their clients into writing positive reviews. They wouldn't leave until I wrote the review they wanted. I changed my review when I learned what a dangerous job they did. They called me up and complained about it. They remain remarkably resistant to the notion that they should know the building codes for the work they're doing. What jerks. read more

It was by far the best experience I have had when it comes to finding contractors and working with them for house work. The team is very responsive, well-informed and helpful. Eric conducted the first inspection and was very patient to answer all my questions and make sure I understand everything about insulation and rodent proofing. After getting a few estimates for our rodent control project, I decide to go with Attic Star and I never regreted. It was a one-day project for rodent proof and attic insulation replacement. Omid and his workers did a good job in sealing all the crackers around the house and on the roof. Our attic was quite messy with rodent droppings so I was very happy with the result after they cleaned it up and installed the new insulation. I'm not sure if the rodents have gone away after the work, but they left some traps and will come back in 3 weeks to follow up. During the job, they also found that our A/C ducts are very old and torn up, and recommended me to have them reinstalled. The next day, Zabi and his team spent a whole day working in our attic and crawl space to get the job done. They did an awesome job and even replaced a duct that's no longer in use with no extra cost. Zabi suggested me to have vapor barrier laid out in my crawl space as he noticed moisture building up which will do harm to our foundation. I ended up having him come back another day to install the vapor barrier and like the result. Overall, I think the project managers are very knowledgeable and easy to work with. If I could give them ZERO STARS, I would. Take your business anywhere else. Attic Star is INCOMPETENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL !!!! Please read my story below to understand why. Day 1: 30 minutes after my appointment and no one has arrived or even called. I called the main office, and they advised a technician was on his way. Surprisingly a technician called me within minutes saying he was late. What a coincidence that he calls to inform me he is late AFTER I call the office inquiring where he was. The technician arrived 45 minutes late with an assistant. Came to the door in a full Tyvex suit (white clean suit). I was happy to see this. I inferred he was conscious about keeping my house clean... I was wrong. After he entered, I noticed the suit had been reused. It was dirty and I saw pieces of insulation stuck to it. Neither of them put on booties and they tracked dirt onto the carpet. I explained to him everything I wanted and I received a "deer in the head lights" expression. I asked if he understood. He said yes, but I had doubts. He and his assistant went into the attic. Again I had to explain what I wanted because he was not understanding. I asked for R30 batts laid across the ceiling and radiant heat barrier installed on the rafters. Nothing crazy or abnormal. His assistant spoke only Spanish, and he spoke no Spanish. Watching them try to communicate was painful. I stepped in and began translating things so they could work together. How can they get any projects done when they can't event talk to each other?! After the painful show of poor communications, the technician comes down and walks across my carpet, tracking insulation pieces behind him, and sits at my dinning table still wearing his dirty "clean" suit. He finally admits that he has no idea what a radiant heat barrier is. I have to thoroughly explain and educate him about the product, how it works, and why its beneficial. I have to also educate him on the basics of heat loss/transfer... a concept an insulation professional should know very well. I tell him that I will not be hiring his company for this project as I want experienced professionals. He says he'll give me a "great price" if I let him learn how to do it on my house. Um, no! As he left, he asked what my profession was because we had a lot of "nice things". Made comments that my wife and I must "make a lot of money" as he looked around... Ummm creepy. Made me wonder if this guy was gonna come back to burglarize us. I wrote the above review after the technician left. Several hours later a man called and identified himself as the boss. He was very apologetic and sounded sincerely sorry for the poor experience. He admitted that he has had problems with this employee in the past and has disciplined him for this poor representation of his company. He sounded desperate to make things right. He offered numerous options to "makes things right" if I would remove this negative review. He was VERY concerned about having a negative review. Feeling sorry for him, my wife and I agreed to allow him back to do some crawl space cleaning work. He offered to come on a Sunday at 8:30am. He said he'd make our project the highest priority, push others aside and thoroughly commit himself and his team to making us happy again. Day2: Well, its the same story all over again. My wife and I awaited their arrival and nothing... at 9:15am (appointment time was 8:30am) I called the office to find out whats going on. The office assured me that a technician was on his way. I asked why no one had called to say he was going to be late. The office replied in shock that no one had called and deflected the blame onto the technician. Then started making excuses about having to commute from a long distance away. NOT MY PROBLEM! Attic Star set the time and they should have planned accordingly to show up on time! And what a surprise! Seconds after calling the office, the technician calls to say he is late... He tries to shift the blame onto the office by saying it was their responsibility to call. Absolutely unacceptable! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. So shame on me for trying to give them a second chance. I should have trusted my first impression and instincts. I am a full believer that its OK to make mistakes, just take responsibility for them, learn from it, and make it right. I tried to apply that philosophy with Attic Star. We had a disgusting situation. Not only did our newly purchased house have rats in our attic and walls, our attic insulation was covered in rat droppings. Our attic is also a very tight space with really low clearance. Zabi was our project manager and he provided excellent service and made sure the job was done well. Great job Sean! Scenario: A flip home for sale had old feces in the crawl space. Inspector said it would be advisable to clean it out for the next family. Doesn't look good on the inspection report. Searched for an attic insulating company. Ron was polite and arrived as indicated. After about 2 mins of checking the space we discussed cost. His was the most reasonable, but more specifically, I liked that he was personable. Additionally he described in detail the entire work to be done and I felt satisfied that it would be done, however as with all contracted work I waited to see if he would indeed show up. He did, with a crew that was larger than normal, but he advised that he was training some new guys so if I didn't mind.....which of course when they are training, usually the work is done well since someone is checking the work completed. Needless to say I felt that the work was done right. He even shot some video from his mobile for me (since I had my hands full with my 18 month old that day). The crew performed the work which was far better than what I expected in 2019, and their work exceeded the industry standard comparing with other similar businesses, so I referred the company to my neighbors. After SIP in 2020, those wild creatures went crazy after people limited their activities indoors, and they dug holes everywhere. Accordingly the rodent issue became more serious in our neighborhood. For anyone who has rodent problem in their attic, it is a scary experience at late night when you hear that noise right above your bedroom ceiling. Jeobanny was the guy spent most of his time to fix the rodent issue on my property for couple times. I can't even find a better word to thank him. Chuck and Jeobanny went beyond their way to help me out, and there were many moments that touched me so much by what they did just for a regular customer. Elizabeth was so patient and creative to arrange those appointments every time. Good news is the rodent issue finally got resolved after so many tries. Please don't blame on them if your issue was not fixed at the first try. It is complicated when fighting with those wild sneaky creatures. I know my neighbors called pest control company and it costed money just for one trip. When you select the company to work with, please also look at the soft service they can provide. These guys are great. Ron came to assess the house, gave me an estimate, and was able to get the job done the following week. I am so grateful to have had Attic Star come out to Cupertino from Oakland considering that we had a rat problem in our attic due to a few entry ways Ron discovered around the perimeter of the house. He was very thorough and detail-oriented; explained every little bit of information to me. A great thing about Attic Star is that they do not kill the rats; they allow the rats the opportunity to escape from the entry ways, and then they seal the holes. (I love this because I don't like killing things). My landlord has owned this house for several years (since the 70s) and never had the rat problem properly resolved (only cheap quick-fixes). I decided it was time to get a professional out here and Attic Star was my weapon of choice. :) I believe that because of these rats, my home was infested with mites, carpet beetles, and the occasional flea. In addition to this, this house had some sort of insulation that looked like shredded wood with a cellulose insulation sprayed over it which looked like a total mess -- the vacuuming process took hours. Ron pulled up in a van with a trailer (and two other workers) around 9:30am, prepared a walking path for the workers by taping plastic covers (which looked like trash bags) on the floor AND the walls (to protect them from any potential damage), vacuumed up the insulation, sanitized the attic, reinsulated, sealed all of the openings/entry ways, removed the plastic floor/wall coverings, and vacuumed up the floor. They left probably about 8:00pm, managing to get the job done in one day! The vacuuming is a bit loud, so you may want to warn your neighbors (if you're the courteous kind). I was getting a new roof and was referred to Attic Star from my roofing company. The technician, Ron and his team showed up for my initial estimate. They were very polite and after the inspection, Ron described in detail what was needed and thoroughly went over the estimate with me. I decided then to place a deposit for the job. Upon the week of my roof replacement, Attic Star were flexible to schedule around the roofing schedule; they even had the removal of old insulation one day then the new insulation installed few days later to accommodate for needed electrical work (although this is was an extra fee of $240). There was one day of miscommunication on appointment time (the first day of insulation removal) where they arrived earlier than expected but it all worked out fine. One thing that I would've liked is for them to accept credit cards without an additional percentage fee but that's my personal preference for a big ticket item/job like this.
