This is my first review in yelp and I gave it to Attic Star since this is the way I can express my deep appreciation to this company and to the people who took good care of my property during the pandemic in public. I want to call it out loud and say a big THANK YOU to the names I remembered, Chuck, Elizabeth, Jeobanny, Ahmad, Max... You make your company stands out. I always benefit from Yelp when searching and making decisions. I thank those people who provide their honest feedback on Yelp, and now it is my turn to give it back. We used Attic Star to do our insulation and rodent proofing work far back in 2019. The crew performed the work which was far better than what I expected in 2019, and their work exceeded the industry standard comparing with other similar businesses, so I referred the company to my neighbors. After SIP in 2020, those wild creatures went crazy after people limited their activities indoors, and they dug holes everywhere. Accordingly the rodent issue became more serious in our neighborhood. For anyone who has rodent problem in their attic, it is a scary experience at late night when you hear that noise right above your bedroom ceiling. I worked with Attic Star again for my property rodent issue last year without any charges. Their excellent customer service and follow-up work is the core to make them stand out. I read many reviews here about their business, and I can't believe those bad comments. Attic star deserve 5 stars!!! Here is my story. I couldn't forget the call I received from Chuck the day before Thanksgiving when most people were on vacation. Chuck spent an hour with me on the phone to explain and try to provide all possible solutions to my property while listening to my concerns. This was not the first time on the call with Chuck. From his prior calls, he mentioned that he would call me back after collecting further information and he did. Jeobanny was the guy spent most of his time to fix the rodent issue on my property for couple times. I can't even find a better word to thank him. Chuck and Jeobanny went beyond their way to help me out, and there were many moments that touched me so much by what they did just for a regular customer. Elizabeth was so patient and creative to arrange those appointments every time. Good news is the rodent issue finally got resolved after so many tries. Please don't blame on them if your issue was not fixed at the first try. It is complicated when fighting with those wild sneaky creatures. I know my neighbors called pest control company and it costed money just for one trip. When you select the company to work with, please also look at the soft service they can provide. They have 5 years warranty for rodent proof work and they honestly delivered their promise to their customer and they have really stood by their warranty. They are honest, reliable. I sure wish my experience was like the rest. I had my attic insulated and "sealed" in August 2020 and have had a recurring problem with rodents that migrated into an interior wall. Several follow up visits have occurred and each time I'm assured that they have patched holes, etc. and to wait two weeks before calling back. Each time, I bring them into the house and point out the wall (which happens to be right next to the head of my bed). Every night the same reccurance of rats. Absolutely no progress has been made in ridding the wall of rodents. In fact, it seems to be worse. When I called the latest time, I was assured they would send an entire team to tackle the issue once and for all. I waited during the 2 to 7 pm window when the team was to arrive. Instead, a single individual arrived at 5 pm (just as had been the case many times earlier since August). Supposedly, there is a five-year guarantee for the work. I'm hoping for just one night of freedom from the rodents that were never eliminated by this very expensive service. I would strongly recommend using another service or method if you're having a problem with rodents. In this case, I paid a lot of money and have spent a lot of my own time waiting for follow up service that never seems to solve the problem. This time, I was just told no new openings could be found and I needed to figure out how to catch the rat myself. I've done that with traps, but, If I would have known that, I would have never invested in the "experts." Very unfortunate and certainly not worth the investment. read more

Very happy with the service from Attic star. The pricing was very competitive in that the price was well within the same range as the lowest cost service providers. They really did an amazing job. I was most impressed with Manuel. He was in the attic in 90+++ degree weather and didn't quit till the attic was pristine. Major kudos in that Manual didn't disturb any of the knob and tube wiring which added difficulty to the task at hand. Zabi was a great guy to work with as well, friendly, efficient and punctual. Despite a few hardware malfunctions that they both had to overcome they really did a great job. Those hoardware malfunctions are a real testament to these guys commitment to doing a good job. I am really very happy with the service they provided. This is a very hard working crew. They showed up on time and worked nonstop for 10+ hours on a really hot day. They removed all of the old insulation, and made sure that no more rodents can get in our attic or crawl space. They disinfected the entire attic, put in insulation, and then cleaned up afterwards. From start to finish, I was really happy and fully ready to give them a 5 star rating on Yelp, on my own time. And then things turned south a little bit for me. After we paid the head person who was in charge of the crew, he demanded that we put in a 5 star yelp review with the before and after picture. He was coaching my husband on what to write, and overlooked what he wrote. He was even trying to pressure my husband on posting his yelp review on facebook. When my husband explained to him that we don't post on facebook, he wouldn't stop and let go of the issue and just kept on pressuring. So I had to step in and told him flat out no, or else. If your services are good, your customers will reflect the quality in the reviews, not this kind of high pressure, fake reviews. We were totally happy with them, but this really leaves a sour taste in our mouths afterwards. I think what they did really backfired. read more

When speaking to Ron over the phone about the estimate I was under the impression that they would be performing three services. Insulating the subfloor, insulating the ducts in the crawlspace, and covering the ground with a moisture barrier. Ron's crew came on time the day they were supposed to but when I got home I found that the only work completed was the sub-floor insulation. I called Ron to complain and he informed me that they would have to come back and complete the moisture barrier because they forgot to do it and that they would not be insulating the ducts because he did not include it in his quote. They returned on the day that was agreed upon and installed the moisture barrier in my crawlspace. When I got home I went under the house to find that the moisture barrier is only fastened to the foundation on 3 of 4 sides and garbage was left of the ground outside of my crawlspace access. I would highly recommend that you consider having other contractors quote your project. I would have never agreed to the price I paid for this project knowing he was only quoting two of the three items that I asked for. read more

These guys made a good first impression and seemed fair. When they came to do our $4000 job, they created us on insulation by 25% according to the label on the insulation they brought. They also damaged a bunch of trim with their equipment, left without cleaning up and damaged the attic entry door. When trying to resolve things with the owner he was belligerent and refused to acknowledge they misrepresented the square footage to over charge and use less insulation than quoted. Don't let them cheat you. Others can do this work - hard to believe this scam stays in business. read more

The Short I'm quite satisfied with the work that they did and their level of accountability. I also found their pricing to be fair after negotiations. I can't speak much about how their insulation performs yet but they did everything they said they would do. The Long Ron came out to provide an estimate to replace the insulation in my home. He was thorough in explaining the work that he and his crew would perform and we were able to come to an understanding on the price. On the day of service, his associate Joy showed up with two other workers - no sign of Ron as he had previously promised. Not a big deal as Joy was perfectly capable but I was caught off guard since Ron didn't notify me upfront about not being able to make it himself. Joy and team were respectful of the cleanliness of my home, cover their path and my walls with black plastic. They did everything as Ron had laid out - removal, sanitizing, installation, and securing the perimeters to ensure no unwanted house guests in my attic. One thing to be aware of at the end, they will pressure you to write a review on the spot - something I was not comfortable with as I feel reviews should be written in private. The challenge came after everything was done as my furnace would no longer turn on. Joy and team came back to take a look in the attic to determine if they had accidentally knocked something out of whack to no avail. When I contacted Ron he was very willing to work with me to ensure I was satisfied, suggesting I reach out to a professional repairman, and if Attic Star was determined to be at fault, they would cover the cost. When the repairman went up to my attic, he did determine that some wiring was knocked loose between my thermostat and heater and promptly taped it back together. After I let Ron know, he promptly took care of the reimbursement for the payment. Overall, I would definitely recommend Attic Star and would look towards them for my insulation needs a couple of decades in the future. read more

My tenants called them for Mouse problems. The company rep. Daniel Reres came out. Instead of solving mouse problem, Daniel started discussing with the tenants about Asbestos in the house and the 4 year old furnace installed by licensed contractor was not up to the code. He scared the hell out of my tenants. I will never hire a company who use scare tactics to generate work. With this kind of attitude, the company is looking at legal problem for itself. read more

We recently bought a bank owned home that was vacant for several years. During this time about 20 pigeons took residence in the attic where they proceeded to give birth in many nests scattered across the attic, and lets just say they used the bathroom in very square inch of our 5,000 sq ft. attic. We called another attic service and they came out and took an hour and a half to look around. They said they have never seen a job as big as this one. During this hour and a half they kept asking a ton of questions and going over the same information which was very interrupting to my day with my toddler. After all of that they and gave us a $15,000 estimate! What!! We said thanks but no thanks to those guys. We called Ron and his team with Attic Star and he came out in a day to take a look, and was early for the appointment. Ron spent about 15 mins in the attic (did I mention the other guys were here for 1 1/2 hours?) and lets just say his estimate was wayyy under 15k for the same job. Since we booked right then he gave us an additional discount. Ron also said he had done jobs with rodents and birds much larger than this, which gave me a lot of confidence. Before he left I asked if he wanted my phone number in case he was running late and he said there was no need because he would be here right on time. And he was right on time, actually early. Before they started they put down floor covering and made sure everything was all set up before I left for work. My husband went home for lunch to take a look at the progress. Ron likes for you to check their work periodically. We returned about 4 hours later and they were just finishing up spraying the new installation into the attic. I actually went up into the attic for the first time to take a look. They packed up everything and there was not a trace that they have ever been here expect for the clean attic. At one point we considered doing the job ourselves, but with the great cost Attic Star can give you, you won't be saving very much doing it yourself. I chose Attic Star, because they laid out a plan that seemed very thorough and the price seemed right. Our attic access is by a back door and requires that the door be left open when the ladder is down. When that door was opened I turned off the heat and the house quickly went down to 68 degrees. Later in the afternoon, when they were finished vacuuming and sterilizing the attic and crawl space, plugged up all the holes, laid new insulation in the attic, and set traps just in case another rodent managed to get in, I went to close the door turn on the heat. The house was already 2 degrees warmer, without the heat and with the back door open. It was 70 inside the house and 68 outside. I went up to the attic to see the job they had done and WOW. David, Alexander, Relleno and Salamousito had done a fabulous job! The attic was so fresh and clean, and the new insulation covered every square inch of it! I highly recommend Attic Star as your contractor. They were competitively priced and did a great job! read more

I recently had Attic Star install new insulation in both my attic and under the house, which is about 1200 square feet. The attic hadn't been insulated since probably in the 70s or 80s, and so the stuff that was up there wasn't really holding in the heat as well as it could and was probably not even the right R-factor to begin with. And the house had no insulation underneath, so floors were super cold in the winter all the time (a primary reason I called). I called for an appointment and Ron came out the same day to look around and give a quote and was honest, upfront, knowledgeable and great to talk with. Two days later Shawn and his crew came to insulate the basement/crawlspace areas, which took about half a day. The following day they came back to remove all the old insulation and debris in the attic and blow in the new stuff, and that took maybe around 6 hours. Shawn and his crew was very professional, careful around the whole house and left it clean and without any dust or debris. I should also note that in addition to the insulating part of the project, they sealed up with wire mesh any openings larger than about a dime both above and below the house (they say critters love warm places to hang out), which was an additional benefit. I highly recommend this company for their professionalism, great work and competitive prices. read more

I originally called Attic Star about Vacuuming my attic so I could do the insulation work myself. But, after figuring all of costs in doing it myself and a weeks worth of work it was a much better idea to get them to do a professional job. I'm glad they did the work since my 100 year old house had so much garbage in the attic and it would have taken me several days to do it myself. The crew showed up with all of the truck mounted vacuum, blower equipment and material ready to go. I live on a hillside which makes anything and everything a huge pain, but the crew was able to wrestle all of the equipment on my hillside to get the job done.
