You can tell the dishes are made with authentic ingredients. The portions were generous too, so come hungry. The service was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The staff was friendly, patient, and happy to explain menu items, which made the experience even better. As for the ambiance, it's clean, cozy, and inviting. The atmosphere is more of a quick sit down and dine your meal without feeling rushed definitely a great spot to visit. My new go to spot in Waldorf when craving authentic African cuisine with great customer service.

The plantains on top of it were good but I'm used to receiving more plantains than what this place provides. The oxtail was delicious and the whole grilled fish was just average - it was on the small side and not seasoned well. The puff puff was tasty and I truly enjoyed it. For the portion sizes, the price was too high. I have gotten whole fish twice the size for the same price, as well as more oxtail pieces for a lesser price. So while the food was mostly good it is overpriced.

We came here on a Thursday night so maybe that's why everything didn't slap as much as I would've liked. The jollof didn't have a ton of flavor or spice, but they have tomato based pepper sauce a medium and an extra hot that adds flavor and spice to the rice. The meat and chicken was a bit dry and hard. The fish wasn't seasoned much. The portions are big and customer service was kind. They had a fairly big menu. We ordered: Suya rice 8/10 (best thing here to me) Attike w/fish 6/10 Jollof rice with chicken and beef 6/10

The food is Ghanaian so you'll find a lot of west African staples here. I ordered their Suya rice with chicken and beef. My wife ordered the acheke with fried fish and ordered a plate of jollof to take home. The suya fried rice was my favorite dish. It's one of their own creations but it's a fried rice with suya spice in it. It's not as spicy as I personally like, but I'm a huge fan of spice so I imagine it's a good level for most people. The jollof was also pretty good. I'll say that the chicken and beef in both the jollof and suya fried rice were a little dry, but they had good flavor to them so it can be overlooked. The acheke was standard for what I expect from it. The fried fish could have used a little bit of seasoning but was fine to go with it. Food took about 20 mins to be cooked but I appreciate that it's done fresh. The service was great! Kevin was the one who took our order and helped us with any additional requests while we ate. Definitely love the soul he adds to the restaurant. The ambiance is pretty casual. The one thing to note is that the parking lot can be a bit small so parking may take more than one try if you have a bigger car.

I say skip the make at home version, because this restaurant will make it for you for a very fair price, and with no fuss whatsoever. We ordered a range of stews along with jollof rice. I asked for everything to be mildly spiced (other than the designer stew, which is largely habanero peppers and so can not be mild!) Everything was well seasoned, freshly prepared, and filling. We ate outside with a friend and the warmth of the pepper stew helped keep us distracted from the cold. Our favorite thing was actually the meat pies. They are homemade with a sweet dough and a delicious meat and potato filling. They are also a bargain at $5 for two hand sized pies. They would make an amazing lunch on their own and were just as delicious at room temperature as they were fresh from the oven. I do have to warn you about ordering the chin chin dessert. It is delicious, and you will wish you had more once it's gone. Order it early in the weekend in case you need to run back for more by Sunday night, or you'll have to wait almost a week for the restaurant to reopen. Go get yourself some fufu!

I don't have a lot of African experience, so I was instantly intrigued. After a morning of exploring the Prince William Forest, we came here for a good lunch. As a guy who's not well versed in the cuisine, I asked for advice, and I was lead in the right direction. I can't seem to find the exact menu item, but I know it the main focal point was that jollof rice. Man, the flavors in that rice were very new to me, and very delicious. Lots of good heat, but not spicy at all. You gotta try it. Also on my place was some sort of meat, some sort of delicious fish on the bone, a nice hard boiled egg, and some sweet plantains. Along with a small salad. Good meat, good sauce. Love eating meat off the bone, adds so much good flavor. Just a really nice meal. I also got some Sweet Plantain Balls (Caclo) as an app. These things were amazing! I usually don't like plantains, But these were very soft, coated in a tangy, umami powder, again a new thing for me. Overall, I very much enjoyed this place. If you're ever in Dumfries, VA, I would highly recommend you stop by, as this was the best food I had the whole time I was in town!
