Ben was very accommodating as we worked though multiple rounds of revisions to the quotes due to new requirements from the various houses. He quickly made the updates and got the revised quotes sent out. From a customer service and price standpoint, Good Neighbors Fence was easily the best of the 3 companies we requested quotes from. As for the quality of the fence, we could not be happier. Ben was on-site at least once or twice a day to supervise the crew throughout the 3 day installation. The actual crew was very professional and completed all the work with good attention to detail. They did a fantastic job keeping the work site clean throughout the day, and always made sure everything was orgainized before they left for the day. As always there were a few very minor details to be addressed on the final walk-through, but each item was quickly resolved by the team with a smile. The team really did make an effort to ensure everything was done to their high standards. I have already recommended Good Neighbors Fence ATX to our friends who are looking to get some fencing installed.

We had to work through a lot of details especially with the addition (permitting, pouring foundation, etc.) and the team was helpful and patient throughout. When we encountered some challenging issues with the siding project (demo from the siding caused minor interior damage and an exterior hose spigot was accidentally cut), the team resolved the issues appropriately. The workers try to be careful but unexpected things happen and the team/William were quick to fix things! For prospective customers reading this, here is the verified context: Fraudulently advertising yourselves as a "James Hardie Elite Preferred Contractor" to secure the job, only to systemically violate the manufacturer's strict installation guidelines, is not a "punch-list" oversight--it is deceptive marketing and a material breach of contract. Puncturing an internal PVC plumbing pipe, illegally wrapping it in black duct tape, and immediately hiding it behind the new siding is not a 'punch-list' item - it is active fraudulent concealment. The 'Fraudulent' Financing: We authorized the payment because they claimed to follow actively concealed the duct-taped plumbing. Inducing a customer to authorize a loan by hiding severe damage is the legal definition of fraudulent concealment. Contradictory Public Statements & The BBB Complaint: JP Exteriors is using public platforms to feign cooperation. On our active BBB complaint, they claim they are waiting for our independent inspection report before taking action. However, their own written record proves they inspected the property themselves on June 11th and issued a superficial patching offer on June 22nd. The very next day, they explicitly stated in writing they were not willing to expand their scope to a full replacement, formally refusing to cure the hidden defects before our third-party inspection was even conducted on June 24th. The 42-page independent inspection report, which we received on June 29, definitively confirms that the widespread, concealed code violations and structural deficiencies cannot be resolved through superficial patching. The report details systemic failures, including improperly installed weather-resistant barriers, missing flashings, overdriven fasteners, damaged boards, unsealed wall penetrations, and an internal PVC plumbing pipe that was punctured by a fastener and actively concealed with black duct tape. The Manufacturer's Involvement: James Hardie is indeed involved, to the extent that the manufacturer offered to provide free replacement materials to JP Exteriors so they could execute a proper rework. Once we paid the deposit and the work began, we were very pleased during the entirety of the project. Caleb was always very responsive to our questions along the way and accommodating our requests. Shout out to Joe and Matt (they did the work) for always being so polite to my wife and kids, since I was usually at work when they were there. Absolute Fence & Gate were outstanding to work with: they came in cheaper than all other alternatives, were the most responsive with clear communication, and were very knowledgable about the options within our space. Amanda was extremely responsive and helped us scope out our initial ask to coordinate an onsite bid walk quickly and helped sort out billing. Travis helped develop our initial concept for a gate into an efficient, turn-key solution that would abide by local codes and fit within our budget. After clarifying our scope, the project was completed at a lightning pace. They staggered the required demo of our old fence until the day they'd be able to erect the fencing to minimize the amount of time our house was exposed to the street. Umesh took on my project of installing approximately 1000 sqft of artificial turf, metal edging, and black star gravel around some cypress trees. Roughly a month before starting, I expressed to Umesh my desire to have the project completed in time for our family's annual crawfish boil, which he assured me he would fulfill. I can't say enough positive things about Umesh, Lucas, and their crew. As we neared the date of my family's party, Umesh assured me that he would push to make the deadline, even with unpredictable central Texas weather. Umesh not only kept to his promise in finishing the project in time for our party, but also knocked it out of the park! The artificial turf looks incredible and instantly became my daughter's favorite place to play. Umesh and his crew put a level of detail into the project in ensuring every aspect was perfect for my family. As pleased as I am with the project itself, the most noteworthy aspect I want to highlight in this review is how Umesh does business. In a world where so many are looking to cut corners, charge more, and provide less, I found that Umesh is a man of immense integrity who keeps to his word. Umesh delivered on his promise to ensure my yard was immaculate for my family's party, but most notably, his promise on pricing. A day before our turf was set to be installed, Umesh was notified by the turf company that the turf we picked out was no longer available (with zero warning). Umesh was forced to upgrade the turf at a difference of nearly $800. I offered to split the difference with Umesh but was told: "Nah man, it's all good. I like to keep my word and pricing. It's not your fault." This really struck me that Umesh was willing to eat $800 in order to keep his word with me on pricing. KG Lawn Care exceeded my expectations and truly helped me complete my dream back yard - The quality of work and character of Umesh will have me recommending him and his company to all my family and friends!

With a ton of experience doing this kind of install, Marcus helped out so much that I was pretty much able to handle coordination of the main pieces and personnel without needing to hire anyone else. He did a great job making the vision come alive and was transparent with any problems that arises (and importantly fixing them when necessary). He was friendly, fair with pricing, and also very quick-- framing and installation took only 2 separate, spread out days (to allow for drywalling and parts arrival in between). My personal experience with him in terms of communication was excellent, but I also purposefully avoided peak summer season so as not to catch him at a busy time. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

For a couple years I'd been watching our backyard privacy fence gradually decay. Posts began to…read morebreak at ground level, nails began to pop out of the gray rotting boards...well, you get the picture. Oh, and greenbelt creatures could easily crawl underneath the fence; it was time. Just by chance, I ran into a neighbor walking her dog who mentioned getting their fence replaced and how happy she was with Austin Fence and Deck. Not only that, Mike across the street had them do his, too. I was sold. I'd been dreading researching fence replacement companies in Austin only to worry that I'd never know if I'd pay too much and wind up with a poor job. However... My experience with Austin Fence and Deck, Aus Tex, was great. David, who developed the quote through his onsite visit, was very professional. He thought of things I'd never have recognized or considered and was very thorough about what the whole process would entail. He developed a quote which I felt was very reasonable considering the scope and left me with the confidence in Aus Tex that I needed to move forward. Aus Tex has a removal and prep team and then an installation team. The whole project only took two days. George and his son Anthony were the removal and prep team. The day they came to our house it was going to be 100 degrees. In short order they started removing sections of fence and hauling them uphill from our back yard to the front which had to be close to 250 feet. Then they began the process of digging the new holes for the steel posts with an air hammer. Our area is solid limestone. And then they mixed their cement in a wheelbarrow setting them all for the installation team. Mind you, it's almost 100 degrees by then. George and Anthony did a great great job and by 3 pm they had loaded all the old fence on their truck and were off to yet another job. The following day, the "Chicago and PT Team" as they are fondly known arrived in the afternoon. Again, another 100+ degree day, and they quickly began measuring, cutting steel posts to size and prepping the 123 foot L-shaped install for the wood. They worked tirelessly through the heat to make sure they installed the cedar boards across the contour of our back lot looked perfect. They even made sure that the corner where our fence met our neighbor's chain link fence was perfectly adjoined so that the feral pigs living in our greenbelt couldn't begin to squeak through. This was important in that our neighbor had spent thousands to keep the feral pigs from destroying his front yard again. Everyone from Aus Tex was both friendly and professional. They did great work in my estimation and I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs their privacy fence replaced. You won't have to worry about whether or not they know what they are doing. There in and out, fast and do excellent work.

He booked a time to go over the engineering plan and the site, and again, I was very impressed when we met. My main concern was that they do the job properly and work with COA inspectors. Work started within a couple of weeks, and I was quite pleased with how the workers did their job. The only delay was to find an engineer to certify the footings before pouring the concrete. I had originally expressed concern about the durability of the support timbers, and Kit offered to coat them before laying the decking. Imagine my surprise when I found them painting the framing with high end professional oil based enamel! The only other delay was the week of the ice storm when Austin was closed for the duration. I was lucky to have family to remove the trees that fell on the lumber in the yard, because the next Monday they were back at work. Both the framing and final inspections went very smoothly and I am delighted with my new deck. I recommend Austin Outdoor Builders to anyone needing a deck.

I'll talk more about our full experience below, but a couple of months ago we had a terrible storm in our neighborhood and a very large tree (at least 25 feet tall) fell directly on our fence. Despite a direct hit, the fence stood firm with only a small dent in the cap board. Talk about quality work! More broadly, our experience was great. We worked with a super helpful person laying out the task who made some fantastic design suggestions (totally not on our radar) that we're really happy with. The work was done efficiently to mimimize the amount of time we had to keep our dog out of the yard. And when seasonal shifting made it impossible to open our gate, they came and fixed it months after the work was done. Great experience all around and would recommend to anyone.

Rick and his installation team arrived on time, worked diligently and were professional and friendly throughout the build. These guys really know their business. With almost 25 years of fence building expertise, minor modifications were a snap, the fence was completed on time and feels like it will stand true for many years to come. The fence is sturdy, straight and level. Even now in the dead of winter, my yard looks great thanks to this beautiful fence.

Paul was extremely attentaive, gave us a quck estimate which was lower than the competition by a significant amount, and worked with us to have the fense installed in a timely manner. The materials were also of good quality. However, to have the top of the fence slope with the terrain, they left some rather large gaps at the bottom of the fence which I then had to address. They also use only a two run system (top and bottom) without having a middle runner. They really should specify that in the bid and contract. If we ever needed another fence, I'd consider using them again but would significantly tighten up the contract.

New 2-story deck missed the mark across code, Trex guidelines, and aesthetics. Poor planning. Won't…read moremake it right. We lost 5 figures on a 2-man crew that lacks longevity with owner. Hire inspectors before paying final invoice. FYI "Custom Deck and Fence Austin" also has poor reviews on multiple sites noting owner Todd Louis Ratajik of "Good Day Baked Energy Snacks" (Forfeited Existence). Sites now name "Cesar" as owner. Negative reviews disappeared. AFFD has pending lawsuits with Travis County Courts. Unknown AFFD subcontractor alarmingly used my name and address in another client's lawsuit wtf! Standard: Visual consistency. AFFD: Mismatched railing. Todd's words: "It's the same railing but pinched." (A contractor's FB review notes lack of materials to properly complete jobs.) Std: Concrete pad supports stairs. AFFD: Stair stringers hover in air, failing to land on concrete. Todd blatantly texted that stringers would step out (not down) from deck. I refuted the abnormality. Top step was cut off; stringers don't reach concrete. Instead of extending pad or redoing stringers, an ugly post was set. Std: Stairs treads w/o gaps. No overhangs. AFFD: Stringer cuts forgot stairs' fascia; treads weren't 11+". Gaps added to meet code, so stair noses are 1.25+", ie trip hazards. FYI Use rise-to-run guidelines. Std: 42" deck railings. 34-38" stair railings ABOVE boards. AFFD: 44" deck railings. Didn't supply 34" stair railings; boards grossly notched to lower height, which start at 44"! Std: Posts sit on existing FINISHED concrete pads. (LOL) AFFD: Post had no contact with pad (after removing makeshift shams to hide the blunder) ie ZERO deck weight on ground. Todd asked if this was okay [to not deal with]. Post not corrected at start. Rough concrete poured atop pad to meet post. Ew. Std: 16" oc MAX joist spacing (Trex specs). AFFD: 7 of 13 spacings are 16+". No blocking. Add 1 or 2 joists = ~15.5" or 14" spacings. Todd said his ways are "affordable" and "economical". Eek. Best: Competitor contracts: "12-in joist spacings", "blocking", "glulam beam". Std: Trex Cocktail Rail Kit (full-width support, hidden fasteners). AFFD: 5.5" wavy floor boards nailed to 1" rail. Visible screws, rough shavings, corner gaps, no support eg 2x4s to flatten board. No countersunk screws and putty to hide nails. Std: Professional aesthetics. AFFD: Not spraying railing cuts = RUST. No continuity in stairs fascia to meet deck edge. Silver bolts on black railings. Posts unequal distance from deck edges. Cedar's shorter lifespan requires staining / maintenance is inferior to Trex's composite fascia. Std: Disclosure of unforeseen issues. Protocols. Loyal crews. AFFD: Crew wasted a day plotting makeshift repairs after causing roof damage. Licensed roofer was furious about erroneously-cut flashing. Roofers returned after crew again made damaging cuts where told not to. Zero acknowledgement from Todd. AFFD: Crew noted holes in house's ceiling after removing joist nails. No repairmen references. Not-our-problem mentality. AFFD: 15+ days by 2 tired guys: the hire + his actual neighbor. Ditto to reviewer compelled to supervise. Days start late, end after 7pm. My neighbors had 5 deck builders who left by 6pm still jolly. AFFD: Non-recyclables in recycling bin. Concrete and stinky liquid in trash bin. Cigarette butts, nails, and construction debris across yard. AFFD: Crew won't tell owner about gray areas and errors in judgments. One unsure if he'd get paid wth. Std: Professionalism. AFFD: No final walkthroughs. Owner ignores items in emails. Condescending; when I climbed a ladder re an issue (that I called a roofer to fix), Todd muttered that I was "an inspector, eh". Instead of talking measurements, Todd's retort was "I'm the owner of a deck company", as if titles alone grant proficiency. Labor is hired out, crew turnover is high. Workmanship depends on whoever is outsourced, who aren't deck builders so much as guys who "have built decks before". Expect no corrections on what Todd Ratajik deems as "good enough".

Cesar gave me the best bid of the three companies I had contacted. He came by and listened carefully to what I wanted to be done. His bid was complete and very thorough, including three options for the fence work to be done. They did a superb job and left our backyard in spotless condition. After the work was completed, he came by to verify and make sure we were happy with the service. We are very glad we worked with them and will certainly use them again for other fence and deck needs that might arise in the future.
